Chapter IX

A/N: mention of gang rape

When he got to the ranch, he saw Jamie's car and quickly went inside and saw Monica and Tate playing with Jamie's son. Beth spotted him she stalked up to him and said, "We need to have a fucking talk."

Kody locked eyes with her and growled, "Yea we do sister."

And with that he led her out to the corral. When they got there he rounded on and roared," Are you outta your fuckin' mind?"

She glared at him as she growled back, "What the fuck are you talking about?"

He cast angry eyes on her as a cold smirk graced his lips and he said, "You're death glare don't work on me princess; never has. Now I'm talkin' bout you workin' for Market Equities. What the fuck are you thinkin' Beth?"

Beth knew she had screw ed up royally; never had Kody looked at her like that. Like she was the enemy and it to her very soul and crushed her heart. She relaxed her face as she began to speak in a cool measured voice, "I agreed to work for Market Equities so I could take over Scwartz&Meyers because they owned a lot of the valley. I'm working from the inside so we can destroy them. I know what I'm doing trust me."

He locked eyes with her and after several tense minutes He shot a crooked grin as he said, "You got it. Now why do we need to talk?"

She told him about he shouldn't trust Jamie especially after what he had told them. Kody said, "Let's go back in the house I need to tell y'all what happened when I found Randle and that gutter whore Christina."

Beth nodded as they walk back to the house.

Market Equities representative Ellis Steel, whose firm represents Paradise Valley and Providence Hospitality Management entered Caroline Warner's office and said as Malcolm Beck took a sip of his scotch, "Garret was just found hanging by the smoldering wreckage of his home. As of right now authorities suspect a gas leak."

Malcolm Beck said, "I'm willing to bet that the Dutton's had something to do with both the hanging and the fire."

Both Ellis and Warner concurred. Suddenly the door was thrown open and Chairman Thomas Rainwater, his driver Mo Brings Plenty and Angela Blue Thunder stormed in. Rainwater said, "We will not agree to any deal that says you can dictate what happens our casino or that help strip the Duttons of the Yellowstone."

Caroline Warner asked, "Why wouldn't you want us stripping the Dutton's of the Yellowstone?"

Chairman Rainwater replied, "Because we know what it feels loke to be stripped our land and we would help White eyes to that again."

Angela Blue Thunder spoke up where Chairman Rainwater had left off as she produced a sealed manilla envelope and handed it to Caroline Warner, "And furthermore we are joining the Dutton's in a class action suit to cease and desist any development of any and all construction in Pleasant Valley."

Caroline Warner accepted manilla envelope as she said, "You are making a terrible mistake. We will beat this suit and teach you backward people that nobody stands in the ay of progress."

Chairman Rainwater spoke up as they prepared to leave, "Do what you have to do. Now good day."

And with that they left. After they had gone Ellis asked, "What do you want to do about this suit?"

Caroline Warner glanced over at Malcolm Beck and asked, Could you have some of your MFM friends Miss Blue Thunder?"

At his questioning look she explained, "We can't get to Chairman Rainwater; he's too well protected and it would be terrible optics but Miss Blue Thunder is not as well insulated and therefore a ripe target; a target might I ad that would be foolish not to use to send a very appropriate message to both the Duttons and the Broken Rock Reservation."

Malcom Beck said, "I'll make some calls."

Kody had just finished explaining what had transpired at Garret Randle's when Jamie asked, "So you hung him and left Christina to burn to death?"

Kody replied as he lit a Parodi, "That's bout the size of it."

Jamie exploded, "When I asked you to take care of it, I didn't mean murder my father and the mother of my son. You're a monster."

Beth jumped to her younger brother's defense, "We wouldn't be in this situation if your stupid fucking ass would'vre never looked up and made contact with Randle and as for Christina that's your fucking fault as well. Guess what Jamie you fucked up yet again; only this time two people are dead. Admittedly they needed to die but nonetheless you have made our brother take two more lives."

Jamie glared balefully at Beth as he spat, "As I have said you stupid bitch it was never my intention for Kody to kill them."

Beth just snorted derisively and rolled her eyes. Upon seeing this Jamie tried to slap her only to have his wrist grabbed by Kody's viselike grip; he looked into his younger brother's blazing dark brown eyes as Kody hissed in a icy tone, "Never try that again. You do and I'll kill you savvy."

Jamie growled, "Let. Go. Of. My. Wrist. NOW."

Kody released his wrist and Jamie clutched his wrist as he scooped up his and ran for his car as he yelled, "This isn't over."

And with he put the child in the car seat, hopped in and sped away. Once he was Gone John said, "That could've gone better. What-"

He was cut off by the shrill ringing of his phone. He answered and listened as Chairman Rainwater recounted the events in Caroline Warner's office and asked if they could meet John told him to meet him at the Livestock Commissioner's office in 45 minutes."

Chairman Rainwater told him that would be fine and hung up. Once John had put his cell back into his pocket, he recounted the conversation then he said, "Beth; you, Kayce and Kody will come with me."

Rip asked, "You want me to follow close behind sir?"

John said, "Actually seeing as how you're a part of this family you come as well."

Rip nodded as he said, "Yes sir."

And with the five of them left to go meet Chairman Thomas Rainwater and Angela Blue Thunder.

When they got to the Livestock Commissioners office, they saw that Chairman Rainwater Mo Brings Plenty and Angela Blue Thunder had already arrived. As they led the way inside John said, "I told my children on the way over here but I'll tell y'all now. "Governor Lynelle Perry has asked me to run for Governor while she runs for the US Senate."

All of their guests were rendered speechless but after several minutes Chairman Rainwater spoke, "Congratulations John; even though we have had our differences I'm sure you will make a fine Governor."

John thanked him then asked, "What do you want to do about Market Equities?"

Kody spoke up, "I've got an idea."

John turned to his son and said, "I'm almost afraid to ask but what is it?"

Kody replied, "Me, Rip and Kayce go have a chat with this Ellis Steel and convince him to leave us alone."

Beth said, "Ellis is a spineless fairy you need to talk with Caroline Warner. Then you might see results."

John was quiet for a minute then he said, "Just you and Rip I need Kayce to get Summer out of jaiil."

He saw the disgusted looks on both Beth and Kody's faces and he knew that neither of them like the environmentalist at all but he felt a certain kinship with Summer Higgins. Kody asked him how she got arrested. (Same as in the show)

Kody said, "We'll go over there right now."

John said, "Do it first thing in the morning. Kayce, I want you to get her out now if you can."

Kayce nodded as Kody said, "I'll ride shotgun."

Then he turned to Angela Blue Thunder and asked, "Would you mind taggin' along somethin' tells me we'll need your help, Councilor; plus, you might keep from killin' any of em."

The ease which he talked about killing slightly disturbed her until she saw the smirks upon his lips. She said, "I would love to see the infamous Dutton Twins at work."

He chuckled as they left.

15 minutes later they were standing in the Sherriff's office as Angela Blue Thunder argued for the release of Summer Higgins. Sherriff Donnie Haskell just stared at Indian attorney and finally said, "I'll release her on her own recognizance."

Angela Blue Thunder thanked as he went back to get Summer. Kody leaned over and whispered, "Can you take the tree huggin' hippie back to the ranch?"

Kayce grinned slightly; it was good ti see his brother getting back on the horse so to speak. He whispered back of course. Good luck."

Kody thanked him as Sherriff Haskell reappeared with Summer. Again, they thanked him as Kayce left with her. Then he escorted Angela to his truck, opened the door and helped her inside. Once had climbed inside he asked, "Where to ma'am?"

She chuckled as she said, "I could really go for a nice juicy steak."

He gave a hearty laugh as he said, "Me too. Would you like to go to steakhouse I know of."

She replied, "Sure drive on cowboy."

20 minutes later they were both sitting across from each other in a booth inside the Longhorn Bar & Grill. She asked as they waited on their steaks, "So tell me about yourself?"

He told her of growing up on the Yellowstone about his wife and kids and how they were murdered by Teal Beck. She asked, "Who is Teal Beck?"

He told her of the Beck brothers and about the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Then he asked her how she got into law. She told him she wanted to try to reclaim her people's land. He told her he wished her luck as their food was brought to them. The rest of the evening was spent talking and just having a good time. Along about twelve thirty he pulled up to her house and escorted her to the door and gave her a kiss goodnight. As he was walking back to his truck she called, "Would you like to come in for a drink."

He wheeled around and said, "Yes I was hopin' you'd ask."

She replied as he joined her on the porch, "And I was hoping you would say yes."

He cupped her cheek in his rough calloused hand and softly kissed lips. They broke apart and shed him inside where they had a few glasses of wine then they reired to the bedroom and made love. When they were finished se walked him to the door and with one more lingering kiss bade him goodbnight and after seeing him out went back to bed and went to sleep.

She was awoken 2 hours later by a window being shattered. She was about to call out when a hand clutched her jaw and a hard voice growled, "Keep your mouth shut."

She was suddenly gripped with fear as she was dragged from the bed and savagely beaten then brutally gangraped for the next hour or so before started to desecrate her body and finally she was killed by having her skull crushed.

The next morning around 8 AM Kody received a call from Mo Brings Plenty; not only was he Charman Rainwater's driver but he was also head of the tribal police. Kody asked as he pulled up to Market Equities, "What's up Mo?"

Mo Brings Plenty asked, "Were you with Angela Blue Thunder last nigt?"

Kody replied warily, "Yea; why?"

Mo Brings Plenty replied, "I'll tell you when you get here."

Kody told Mo where they were and what they were doing

Mo said, "You might come see this first."

Kody asked in a a hard voice, "Why; what the situation?"

Mo replied, "You'll see when you get to Angela Blue Thunder's house."

Kody said, "We're on our way."
