Chapter X:

Malcom Beck had just begun to eat his breakfast when his cell phone began to ring. He wiped his mouth and reached for his cell phone and answered it. Caroline Warner said, "I'm in the lobby."

Malcolm Beck said, "Come on up I'll let you in."

She agreed. 5 minutes later her and Ellis Steel were sitting in the spacious sitting room of his luxury suite drinking coffee. Caroline Warner asked as she ate a cheese Danish, "Is it done?"

Malcolm Beck replied as he started in on his ham n cheese omelet as he replied, "I got a call late last night telling me it was done."

Caroline said, "Good maybe that will show Chairman Rainwater what happens when you go against us and stand in the way of progress. One-way or another they will learn."

Ellis steel spoke up, "Who's next; perhaps we should try taking out the Dutton's again."

Malcolm Beck cast him a disdainful look as he snarked, "Oh yes let us poke that particular bear again. In the future if you have any opinions or thoughts maybe you should just keep them to yourself so the rest of us do not have to listen to your mindless drivel."

The rebuke greatly angered Ellis but like the weak-kneed coward he was he kept it to himself. Malcolm Beck turned back to Caroline Warner and asked, "What's our next move."

When Kody and Rip pulled up to Angela Blue Thunder's house, they saw the myriad cop cars and other law enforcement personnel milling about. He and Rip climbed out of truck and walked up to the front porch and met Chairman Rainwater and Mo Brings Plenty. He asked in a hard voice, "What in the blue hell happened?"

Mo Brings Plenty replied, "Apparently a few hours ago several unknown offenders entered the dwelling via this busted door and brutally beat, gang raped and ultimately killed Angela."

Both Rip and Kody were stunned after several minutes Kody asked, "Do we have any suspects?"

Mo Brings Plenty replied, "We have prints everywhere as well as semen and blood samples. As well as DNA under nails. We'll have the crime lab in Bozeman run them; they'll have the answers in a few hours."

Kody nodded and said as him and Rip walked back to his truck, "Good girl

Chairman Rainwater nodded his head in agreement asked, "What are you going to do now?"

Kody replied shortly as they climbed into the truck, "Go have a chat with Caroline Warner."

And with that he sped away.

They were in a meeting when Kody and Rip barged into the room. Ellis Steel stood up and said, "You cannot be here; this is an important meeting and-"

He was cut off as Kody grabbed him by his tie and wrapped his fist in the tie and started to strangle him. Beth was watching from her position down the table was stunned; she had seen her brother intimidating a person but what she saw Kody do and what she saw when he locked eyes with her terrify her. Rip looked at Caroline Warner and said, "Lady we need to talk."

From her seat down the table Beth was stunned; sure, she had seen him mad and she had seen him use threats and intimidation to get what he wanted but she had never seen him like this. His eyes were dark burning pools of hate and death and saw the murderous look within them. Caroline Warner snapped, "Let him go this instant or I will have security throw your violent redneck asses out of here and I will see you locked up."

Kody had evil glint in his eyes as he drawled in a low deadly voice, "Your security so much as moves in our direction an they're all dead men. Now I want to know who ordered the attack on Angela Blue Thunder an I want to know... oh I dunno...preferrably fore I kill this cock suckin' lil fairy."

Beth asked, "What happened to Angela Blue Thunder?"

He told them as he continued to strangle Ellis Steel. Rip said, "We know it had to come from one of you so just fuckin' tell us."

Beth knew Rip was only with Kody because much like he did for her dad Rip had undying loyalty toward her younger brother. She asked, "Did we order the attack?"

Caroline Warner's head whipped and she glared daggers at Beth as she stated in a haughty caustic voice, "Market Equities would never do such a thing and the very question offends me and especially-."

Rip cut her off, "Watch how you talk to her lady; that's my fiancé and his sister."

Caroline glared at both Rip and Kody as she stated, "I don't care who she is to you; she's my employee and I will speak to her anyway I like."

Kody slung Ellis Steel into the conference table so hard it he sailed over it and slammed to the floor. Then Kody stalked over to Caroline and stated in a hard as nails voice, "Like the man said she's my sister so watch how you talk to her. We will find out the truth about the attack and brutal murder of Angela Blue Thunder and when we do not even God himself could protect you from me."

And with that they were gone.

When they got back to the ranch Kody went into the lodge to tell John about the murder of Angela Blue Thunder and about what had happened at Markey Equities when he saw Summer Higgins talking with John. John asked, "How did the meeting with Markey Equities go."

Kody lit a Parodi as he said, "Angela Blure Thunder is dead."

Both John and Summer were shocked. Gohn asked, "How was she killed?"

Kody cast a cold look at Summer as he told John in very explicit detail what had befallen the Indian lawyer. When he had finished John asked, "And did that affect your meeting with Market Equities?"

Kody told him how the meeting had transpired. When he finished John admonished, "You can't always use threats and intimidation to get results. You need to learn diplomacy."

Kody continued to smoke his Parodi as he said, "I ain't no good at diplomacy you know that ain't my style."

John fixed his son with a look as he said, "I need you learn it especially if you are to be my head of security if I win Governor."

Kody said, "Whoa; slow down there trigger. I don't wanna be your head of security I rather like my job... a lot really."

John chuckled as Summer Higgins asked, "And what is your job exactly; I mean other than beating up innocent protestors that are practicing their constitutional rights."

Kody shot the animal rights activist a look as he growled, "I'm a Livestock Agent and for your information you sanctimonious holier than thou bitch those protestors were assaulting my boss who just happens to be my twin brother. You're damn lucky I didn't kill any of em."

Summer Higgins was stunned; after several minutes she said, "I apologize we had no idea that were opposed to Market Equities as well."

Kody just rolled his eyes as he ignored and went to walk away. She grabbed his arm and yelled, "What the fuck is wrong all of you fucking Duttons; with the exception of John you all treat me like I'm nothing less than nothing actually."

Kody growled in a voice full of barely controlled rage, "Let. Go. Of. My. Arm Now."

She released his arm and he whirled around and laid into her, "First of all never grab my arm, second when you speak to me or any member of my family you will do so with respect. Third there is nothing wrong with us; we are in a war for our very way of life. Hippie types like you come in here and see us as simple redneck hillbillys but I got news for you sweetheart we ain't simple rednecks you cross us we'll get you back tenfold. Now I understand that you don't mean us any real harm but you look down on us and think you're better than us."

When she went to argue back he turned his back and went outside. Once he had gone she looked at John and said, "You have to believe me none of what he said about me is true."

John gave her a sympathetic understanding look as he said, "I believe you; Kody is just hurting; I think he was really developing feelings for Angela Blue Thunder. I fear this loss on top of the losses of his wife and my granddaughters is turning Kody into a cold unfeeling person."

Summer Higgins was stunned she asked, "Kody had a wife and daughters?"

Kohn nodded and began to tell her of his deceased daughter-in-law and his deceased granddaughters and how they were murdered.
