Author's Notes- This is a story I wrote in memory of my son, Josh. Josh died of acute leukemia at the young age of five. Josh was an amazing boy who always had a smile of his face. Often he would tell me I need to live my life and stop worrying about him. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and who he was. I love you Josh.

Lucas stood in front of the grave of his son. A year ago Lucas stood at the side of his son's hospital bed and held his child's hand as he took his last breath. Lucas was moving on but it hurt like hell to watch his son pass. It wasn't right when he buried him. Your children are suppose to bury you, not the other way round.

The death had been hard on Brooke as well. After all, he was her baby too. He was weak and fragile his remaining months on earth but still the bright bubbly boy he always was. Together the family had received the news of what was wrong with their boy. Cancer, not brain or lung cancer but blood cancer. The proper name was leukemia but no matter what it was called it was still threatening their baby's life.

It wasn't fair that their son had died so young. The doctors had not given him much hope but he gave himself hope. He received his hope from Lucas and Brooke, from Haley and Nathan. They were his family and none of them wanted to see him go. He fought for them, he fought for the day he got to play ball with his dad and uncle, and he fought for the day he got to sing and dance with his mom and aunt. He fought for the day he got to see Aunt Peyton again. And he fought until he had nothing left in him to fight.

It was tragic to see him go so young but there was nothing left for anyone to do except make him happy. Lucas had taken him out of the hospital one day to take him to a basketball game. He had arrange for the young boy to go on the court at half-time and shoot some baskets in front of the thousands in the crowd. The team had actually come out and shot a few with him. Lucas would never forget the smile on his son's face that day when he took him back the hospital. It was the smile that Lucas had when his son was born, it was the smile Brooke had when Lucas proposed. It was the smile that comes once in a lifetime.

Lucas felt a pair of arms slip around his waist as he stood by the grave. He knew the belonged to Brooke. He sighed deeply as she rested her head against his back.

"Are you okay?" He asked her

"I miss him Luke." She answered fighting back tears. Lucas turned around and held her close.

"I miss him to but we'll see him again and he's being looked after."

"I love you Lucas Scott."

"I love you too Brooke Scott." Lucas kissed her head and set down some flowers she had brought over. Lucas next at the grave and looked over the tombstone next to his son's.

"Watch him, Uncle Keith. And you watch him Josh." Lucas stood up and walked away with his arm around Brooke. He knew that his father and son were watching over each other and him.
