Lush green hills with a gentle breeze filled the air, passing through as a butterfly fluttered its way across the hills, making its way to the small town, accompanied by a large castle on a high hill, overseeing its citizens.
"Hello chef!" "Hi chef!" Two yellow kids passed by, making their way across the city, as the orange chef in the building waved back, not looking away from his work.
Nothing really happened much in Cappy Town, filled to the brim with other cappies and other residents. It was boring every now and then, but it was what the citizens wanted, a peaceful way of life.
"Keep up Tiff!" The boy called to his sister, to which she immediately caught up with, "What for, Tuff? We're in no rush." She responded calmly, brushing off her shirt.
"I mean… Well, we can't be out for much longer or Dad won't be happy. Man it's so boring sometimes!" Tuff pouted, putting his arms behind his head, "I mean, it's peaceful and all but really what can we even do anymore?"
Tiff shrugged at her brother, it was true. Every book they've read in their library was all completed front and back, the tv shows are all reruns, and there really weren't any other kids their age, so they pretty much grew up fast with all the adults around them. It made things rather difficult.
They really couldn't complain, they lived in the castle after all, so they didn't have the right to complain about what they really felt.
"Man, you're beat on ideas too, Tiff? You never run out of ideas."
"Yeah, I don't know. Maybe something will happen soon, no point in pouting about it!" Tiff responded as the two returned to the castle on top of the hill.
The castle walls were rather bright, reflecting off the orange rays of light from the sunset behind them, Waddle Dee guards facing towards the two as they walked on by to the dining room.
"You there, what are you doing? You're not even in your actual position! Must I tell the King of your incompetence?!"
Tiff and Tuff turned towards the echoing voice across the room from them, Tiff huffing at what she heard.
"He's doing it again… ugh!" she says, walking towards the voice, Tiff following after her, "Escargoon, will you lighten up!"
A purple snail turned and narrowed his eyes at the two yellow kids giving stern looks, "I'm sorry, is this your business?" He says with some annoyed ting in his voice.
"Technically, yes."
"Technically, I don't care."
The waddle dee looked between the two, dropping his spear with a surprised look on his face, scrambling to pick it up and acting like he didn't drop it, but of course, the three weren't deaf.
"What did I ju-" Escargoon started, only for Tiff to interrupt him, "Hey, you doing alright? You should move to where you're supposed to be, alright."
The waddle dee nodded and saluted her, "Yes Ma'am, wyana." He says, hopping away, much to Escargoon's annoyance.
"In case you've forgotten, kid, I'm the one in charge of the dees here when he's not around, and I don't care if I'm outranked here, just stay out of my- or rather- OUR business!" He says, slithering away from the two, Tuff giving a snicker.
"Man, maybe we should mess with him more often, that's actually kinda fun." He says, but notices Tiff wasn't smiling, "What's wrong?"
"They're so mean to them, I don't get it. They're trying their best and yet there's no pleasing those two." Tiff responds, crossing her arms.
"Hey, at least the waddle dees respect us. Maybe we cou-"
"Pardon me…" Tuff was interupted, as they they turned to the waddle dee in the doorway, "...but your father is looking for you two because dinner is ready."
"Ah, thank you! Sorry!" Tuff responds, as the two hurried their way over.
Dinner was quiet, as expected for the three. The table was long as it was meant for more members to be seated, however it usually served only the trio.
"How is it?" Their father asks, which the two nod with pleased smiles.
"It's as good as Chef Kawasaki's cooking! Did he make it?" Tuff asks happily and with curiosity, to which their father nods in response.
"Yes, I made sure to have him make time for tonight's dinner. It's a slow cook, he told me, so he prepared it, then it was ready not too far after before he left back to his restaurant. Always busy there, I say.." he explains to the two as a waddle dee walks on down with some glasses of water.
"Here you go, your highness, you asked for some more."
He took the glasses and placed them on the table, "Thank you." He responded, "You seem to be working all day, I ask that you retire for the night."
"O-oh! I'm fine King Ebrum! Really!" The waddle dee says, waddling away after hearing his request, the king chuckles in response.
"Ah they work long and hard with little payoff, I sure wish the general would treat them nicer." He says, Tiff nodding.
"Yeah, Escargoon was being really mean to one of them, that's why we were a bit late." She explains to him, the king nodding to his daughter.
"You have nothing to worry about, they know their place here in this castle, whether they like it or not, and your orders have higher values than theirs after all."
"Yeah, but why do they have to stay anyway?"
Ebrum sighed, "It was part of our agreement, their leader wishes to be treated like a king, despite his lack of qualities to be one. However, I see no value in fighting over pointless affairs. So please trust me on them staying here in the castle. Now, we'll discuss this more in the morning, alright?"
Tiff was on the balcony from the castle, sighing. She didn't really like the answers her father gave her, but wanted to know what exactly he was planning. He wasn't one to explain everything to her and Tuff, he knew that they were smart and could figure things out on their own. The large amount of detective books in the library certainly influenced that, but once everything was uncovered, there wasn't much to add on anymore.
Tuff was right, there was nothing really here in the peaceful town anymore.
"Oh there you are Tiff." Tuff said, walking out on the balcony towards her, "Can't sleep?"
"Not really, I don't want to go through another day of just… nothing, again." She sighed, "I know it's better when it's peaceful but nothing happens anymore, just like you said."
"You know better than to take anything I say for a true fact?"
"But you're actually right."
The two were silent for a bit, the cool breeze filling the air, lights slowly turning off for the night in the town, the harsh yellows turning into a cool blue under the starry night.
Tiff looked up as she spotted a single star flashing by, "Tuff, look!" She pokes him, pointing upwards, "A shooting star!"
Tuff chuckles, "So that means we make a wish, right?"
"Yeah, but let's be realistic about it? I haven't seen one in so long.."
Tiff's voice trails off, wishing for something good to come her way. It wasn't much but it was something simple. She looked back up, seeing the same star continuing its path before turning to Tuff.
"So… what did you wish for?" She smiles,
"To be able to eat forever."
"Did you really wish for that?"
"Of course not! You don't tell anyone your wish because then it doesn't come true!" He chuckles, Tiff soon following after.
"That's true.. we both know we could have a granted wish by now…"
Lush green hills with a gentle breeze filled the air, making its way to the small town, accompanied by a large castle on a high hill, overseeing its citizens.
"Man… it's the same stuff again. What do we even do?" Tuff says, sitting down against the curb of a small shop, Tiff sighing.
"I dunno, really…. actually, what if we get together and-"
"What is that?!"
Tiff jolted in surprise, looking at the woman behind her looking up in the sky, Tuff hopping on his feet, looking at the sky, much to Tiff's confusion before he gasped.
"Tiff! Look!" He shouts, as Tiff does the same, putting her hand over her eyes to shield from the sun.
A fiery ball was coming down from the sky, it didn't look like a meteor or anything but it was certainly coming down fast…
…and they were in the blast zone!
"RUN!"
The woman shouted, as the town folks ran away from the meteor, while Tiff and Tuff ran to the side instead, trying to get out of the way of the crash as it whistled it's way down in a flash.
Crrrrrassssh! Crumble, crumble, crumble.
The crash made an ear splitting noise, bits of metal and steel like pieces smashing and sliding on the ground in the middle of the town's marketplace before it halted to a stop. Tiff and Tuff got a look at what landed. It was a spaceship in the shape of a yellow star, with a clear cylinder on top of it, though they couldn't make out what was inside as it was filled with smoke.
"Tiff…"
"Yeah Tuff?"
"That's a spaceship… right?"
News made its way to the castle quick, not that it could be ignored anyway. Escargoon making his way to the throne, not the King's throne, but rather, his own King's throne.
"Sire! Did you see what just happened?" He asks, in a bit of a panicked tone as the chubby penguin in the seat hopped right off and landed on his feet.
"If I didn't know any bettah…" he says, in a hefty voice, "I'd say we have an intruder that just crash landed on my planet!" He says with a grin.
"Dedede, what should we do? The town is already surrounding it, and no one has come out just yet!"
Dedede huffs, "Well it's obvious ain't it? We need some brave wannabe hero willing to risk their life for whoever is invading!" He says, lifting his mallet.
"And we know that your royal highness won't be doing that. Is that right?" Escargoon says, putting his hand up to his chin.
"Of course, that lazy good for nothing king doesn't do anything real hard round here!"
"I meant you, you're too important to risk!"
Dedede grinned, he knew Escargoon sucked up to him, and he loved the worshipping, "That's right.. what brave soul is gonna risk their life round here?"
Brave…
"I'll have to go on behalf of you, if no one volunteers." Escargoon said, though it was obvious that he wasn't really intending on going to greet this invader just yet.
"I'll do it sire!"
Dedede and Escargoon turned to face the waddle dee in front of them, looking down on him.
The waddle dee was deeper red than the other's more orange tones and was wearing a blue bandana, saluting the two.
"Sire, allow me to go investigate on your behalf!" He asks again, voice a bit quivery in his nervousness.
"Yeah whatever, come back and report what you see, and if you capture him, then bring him back here!" Dedede grins, as the bandanaed dee nodded and rushed his way back to town.
The town was still trying to make out what just landed on the ship, gossiping and questions filled the air as Tiff and Tuff continued to look around the ship, Tuff standing on the ship itself while Tuff was on the ground.
"I don't see a way to open this thing up… what even is this spaceship from anyway?" Tuff says, walking on it some more.
Tiff narrowed her eyes, "You really shouldn't be walking on it, what if it starts up again?"
"Well you haven't found anything on the bottom… what's probably left of it anyway, so why not look at the top!"
"Fine, but you better get off if anything happens, got it?"
"Geez, something finally happens and I get lectured.."
The two continued to look around the small craft itself as the dee ran his way down, trying to get through the crowd.
"Move please! I need to… mmfh! Move! I'm here on behalf of the king.. come on, move!"
Tiff and Tuff turned around to see the dee walking on over, "Huh? Bandana Dee?"
He looked up to see the two, "Oh! Tiff, Tuff! Get off the ship!" He rushes over, trying to back them away from the ship, using the wood part of his spear to push them back, much to their protesting, pushing back at him.
"Bandana Dee! Knock it off dude! We're just trying to open the ship!"
"You're what?" Bandana Dee stopped in his tracks, "The King would kill me if I let you keep going!"
"We're fine, the thing won't open anyway, and there's so much smoke inside the ship anyway that it won't even open-"
…eeerrreeeaaaak!
The trio jumped as they got behind Bandana Dee, who pointed his spear at the ship, "Urk! …sh..show yourself!" He says, with a firm focus on the ship, hoping that who would come out wasn't super tough. The rest of the town watched as the capsule popped open, the smoke finally escaping, with a high pitched cough escaping the cockpit. The smoke continued to flow away as a pink round ball emerged from the smoke, coughing a bit more as he finally got away from the smoke. Everyone stared at the pink creature catching his breath, as said creature slowly looked up at everyone staring at him, before looking around his new surroundings.
"Wooooooahhhh…" he said in a mix of wonder and innocence, smiling as he stepped onto his pink ship, looking at buildings he's never seen before, a blue sky he hasn't seen in so long.
To the rest, they were bewildered, they had no clue what was in front of them, what his purpose was, or if he was friendly as he so appeared.
The pink ball turned around to see all eyes on him, giving a blank stare back in surprise, before looking down at the spear pointing at him.
"Hi!" He giggled, waving at the trio huddled together at him, before the three soon realized to split apart from one another, looking at him in confusion.
"Uh… hi?" Tuff responded, the pink ball waving at him again, "Hiiii!" He smiles, doing the same to the other two, hopping down.
"Um… who.. are you, you just crashed out of nowhere from here!" Tiff adds on, getting a firm voice to show she wasn't afraid of the pink being.
"Huh..?" He turns to see that he did indeed crash, "Oooohhhh… I crashed..!" He says, before turning around, "I'm Kirby!" He smiles.
"At least he can talk, that's a good thing… even if it's barely speaking." Tuff mumbles to himself as Bandee steps forward.
"Well Kirby, you are now in Dreamland…! Home of our planet Popstar..!" He says with a nervous tic in his voice, trying to conceal it.
"Popstar…? Dreamland..?"
Bandana Dee looked at him as Kirby looked genuinely confused, he had no clue where he was. He soon calmed himself, it seemed he wasn't really a threat at all, and thought for a second on how to continue this whole introduction anyway.
"Kirby… uh, welcome to Cappytown! It's part of Dreamland and well, we all live here in peace, it's pretty quiet so don't expect much." Tuff says with a confident smile, "I'm Tuff by the way."
"And I'm Tiff. We're brother and sister, if you're wondering." Tiff chimes in.
"You're Tiff…" he points at her, "And you're Tuff! Tiff n Tuff!" He says with a happy smile, "Uhh… who are you?"
Bandana Dee took a second to realize Kirby was talking to him, causing him to fumble with his spear, "Oh! I'm Bandana Waddle Dee!" He says, giving a salute, "I work in the castle, defending it from threats!"
"Ohhhh, you're Bandee!"
"Uh… it's-"
Tuff chucked and Tiff grinned, "Actually, it's not a bad nickname, Bandana Dee, it's shorter!" She says as Bandana Dee sighed, "I suppose you're right." He says, lightening up a bit.
"Bandee, Tiff, Tuff! Hiii! You all seem so nice!" Kirby says, bouncing on his red feet, hopping towards them, "Dreamland seems nice!" He says, clearly happy.
The three looked at each other as the rest of the town settled a bit, noticing that Kirby wasn't a threat in the slightest and tried to move on from the crazy event.
"Well how bout you tell us about you Kirby!" Tuff says, putting his hands on his hips.
"Huh? Myself?"
"Yeah, we'd like to know about you too." Tiff follows up, as Bandana Dee nods in agreement.
Kirby put a nub to his mouth, thinking. However he seemed upset by his thinking, taking quite the pause as he pondered. The other three looked at each other, a bit unsure what was going on.
"I… I don't remember.. I was in this ship, but that's all I remember.." he says, tilting his head, seemingly upset. Much to the three's surprise. He didn't remember? That only made things harder for him.
Tiff walked up to him, "Hey, it's alright if you don't remember Kirby, maybe we can help you out and get you to remember again." She says with a smile, Kirby growing back into a positive mood.
"Ok! Thank you!" He giggles, much to the other's relief.
"We'll have you meet the king, perhaps he might know where to have us start." Bandana Dee says, as the four made their way towards the castle, leaving the wrecked ship behind.
