Hey Nuggies! Well I really shouldn't be doing this, but here I am writing another fanfiction since I have writers block on a few of my other ones, and because this won't leave me alone. Here is your warning: this will be SLASH! I have decided though that this will not have M!Preg.
Main Pairing: AshxPaul
Side pairing: AshxGary (One sided on Gary's part)
Rating: M (to be safe)
Chapter Warning(s): None
Disclaimer: I do not own pokémon it belongs to Game Freak, Nintendo, Creatures, The Pokemon Company, etc, nor do I write this for profit. This is for entertainment use only.
Fanfictionranger- lmao, don't worry. The egg didn't get scrambled.
Sakihinata- I hope you mean that the cliffy was so horrible that it was fantastic!
A/N: To everyone who has asked, on this site and others, no Paul will not be getting the other twin! I made this decision a loooong time ago and will not change my mind about it. What Paul did giving Ash the Eevee was out of the goodness of his heart and doesn't expect anything back! Paul will spoil Ash, but don't worry Ash will spoil Paul right back.
I would give you guys/gals/nuggies a hint as to what is in the egg, but I'm afraid everything that I can possibly hint to what they are would give away the surprise. Feel free to guess though! I'll just be here enjoying your reactions!
Enjoy!
Riolu let out a soft whine as he placed a soft black paw on his daddys' face. There was a weird plastic piece over his muzzle and Riolu didn't like it. It kept fogging up and leaving weird marks on his sunburned face when the weird smelling people came by to take it off every now and then. There was also a big white patch on his daddys' forehead that had a bad cut underneath it.
He also didn't like the weird plastic strings that were attached to one of his daddys' arms. It had a weird liquid in it that made him sneeze the one time he got too close to it. The beeping from one of the boxes near the bed his daddy was in was annoying too, but the purple haired person, his daddys' mate, had told him it was good that it was still beeping. So he left it be.
Riolus' black and white ears pinned back against his head as he let out another whine when he felt larger paws wrap around him. Looking up he saw that it was his uncle, Zoroark, who had picked him up. He tucked his tail between his legs as he was brought over to the pile of small pokémon. Riolu didn't want to be over there. He wanted to stay near his daddy.
It was nap time according to his uncle, but he didn't want to sleep. He wanted to be awake so he could be the first to see his daddy awake. Riolu tried several times to get up, but Zoroark had stopped him each time. By the third time he tried to get up Zoroark had pinned him down and growled softly in a lullaby making his eyes droop a bit.
Riolu supposed that taking a small nap wouldn't hurt after all.
By the time Ash woke up the sun had already gone down for the day, or was it just getting up? He didn't know. He just knew that he was in pain and that there was an oxygen mask over his face. Blinking a few times to get the blurriness out of his vision Ash looked around the room. There were flowers in a vase next to him along with a few unopened cards as well as a balloon tied to a teddy bear. Other than that he didn't see anyone in the room, no Paul or his own pokémon.
Just as he tried to sit up in the bed to look around some more the door to his room opened as a woman in green scrubs walked in. She was average in height with purple hair and pink eyes and she had a kind look on her face as she saw him awake.
"Good morning Mr. Ketchum," she said as she walked over and helped Ash sit up a bit by raising the upper half of the bed before checking his charts that hung at the end of the bed, "Would you like some water?"
"Please," Ash croaked out before let out a few dry coughs and was able to remove the oxygen mask only to be replaced with a nasal cannula. The kind nurse handed him, as soon as she knew he could hold it on his own, a small plastic cup with ice chips and water in it as well as a straw. He took a few sips of water before licking his dry lips. "Who are you?" Ash asked, his voice a bit raspy, but better than the croak he let out before.
"I'm Nurse Kathy," she said as she wrote a couple of things from the monitors around him on his chart, "are you hurting anywhere?"
Ash hummed softly before nodding and gestured to his side, head, hand, and right leg. His hand was hurting from the previous wound Meowth had given him while he assumed he had gotten the other injuries from the ship. His skin also burned and had a weird tight feeling to it.
"As soon as you are able to get more pain medication, you'll get it," Kathy said as she opened a jar, that Ash didn't notice she had brought with her, and the scent of aloe came to nose, "You have about thirty minutes until your next dose, but I can give you a little relief from your sunburn if that is okay with you?"
"Please," Ash asked as he nodded slowly since his head throbbed a bit. As she begun to carefully coat his face with the after sun ointment she told him that the police were wanting to come by and speak with him about what had happened to him. She also mentioned how this other teen with purple hair, Paul his mind filled in, was taking care of his pokémon after the creatures showed aggression to the usual handlers the hospital provided to take care of them if their owners couldn't at the moment.
"Which ones were aggressive?" Ash asked as he looked concerned that his pokémon could have done harm to another human.
"Your Krookodile, Zoroark, and Kingdra," Kathy answered as she moved on to Ashs' arms, "I believe the others hadn't been released yet.
"K-Kingdra?" Ash rasped out as his eyes widened.
Kathy looked up from where she was gently rubbing in the ointment to his surprised look. "Did you not have a Kingdra?" she asked with a look of alarm on her face.
Ash shook his head as he forced himself to take a deep breath. "I had a Seadra," Ash said as he sit up a bit more, "He had a dragon scale though. He must have seen reason to use it before he felt he was ready for it or it must have been an accident that he used it."
Kathy relaxed a bit now that she knew that the hospital staff didn't mix up the sudden influx of pokémon they had received upon getting the few people from the ship that were injured. "Congratulations then Mr. Ketchum," Kathy said softly as she gave her patient a smile. Ash nodded in thanks as the nurse finished up putting the ointment on him.
"Your doctor will be coming in a few minutes," Kathy said as she took the glove off and placed it in the trash, "to tell you about your injuries and when you should be able to get out of here. I'll also let the police know that you are awake and ready to talk to them. If there is anything else I can get you, Mr. Ketchum?"
"Could I get something light to eat after the doctor leaves?" he asked as he felt his belly give a rumble.
"Of course!" Kathy said before bidding him a goodbye. Ash sat back with a small sigh. He couldn't really remember what happened after the railing gave way just being wet and cold before something smacked into his head. He didn't even remember getting to the hospital.
Lost in his thoughts Ash didn't notice the door to his room opening again letting in one very excited pup and his boyfriend. A sharp bark and something small landing on his stomach knocked Ash out of mind. Upon looking down he saw a very sad but excited Riolu, whos' tail was whipping side to side. Ash smiled as he wrapped his arms around the small pup and gave him ear scratches and reassurances that he was okay.
"Hey," Paul said softly as he came around to the left side of the bed. His back to the window and his front facing the door. "Good to see you awake," Paul added before leaning down and placing one of the softest kisses Ash had ever received on his lips.
"Hi," Ash answered back after Paul pulled back. "Have they told you anything about what happened to me?" he asked as he pulled Riolu away from his injured leg, "How are my pokémon?"
"They wouldn't tell me since I'm not really family and you weren't awake to tell them it was okay," Paul said, sitting down on the chair the hospital provided to those who were visiting, "your pokémon are good, the egg included. They're at a nearby hotel with your mom and Oak, I think his name is. Old guy, lab coat, loves pokémon."
Ash chuckled at Pauls' description of Professor Oak. "Yeah that's Professor Oak," Ash said, "my mom is here?"
"Yeah," Paul replied, "The hospital called her and she brought Oak to check over your pokémon since they were getting aggressive and protective of you. Pikachu stayed behind to watch over everyone and Riolu here forced me to bring him every time I came here."
"Speaking of here," Ash said as Riolu fell asleep knowing his daddy was awake and getting better, "where is here?"
"Cinnabar Island," Paul said as the door opened once more letting in a doctor. The man was tall, thin, with a very busy afro, blue eyes, and beautiful mocha colored skin.
"Good afternoon Mr. Ketchum!" The man said as he walked closer to the three, a syringe clear in his hand, "I am Doctor Doran Asaad, and your attending doctor since you've been admitted here at Cinnabar Island Hospital. I'm glad to see that you are awake and after talking with you I will administer your next dose of pain meds. Now if you wouldn't mind leaving for just a moment young man so I can look over my patient and tell him doctor-patient confidentiality things?"
Ash held back a chuckle at the laid back and energetic energy this doctor had. "It's alright Dr. Asaad," Ash said as he took Pauls' hand, "I don't mind him hearing this."
"If you're sure," Dr. Asaad asked and waited to get a confirmation before continuing to speak, "alrighty! You're injuries are not severe, but they will take a bit a maintenance to make sure they don't get infected or injured further. You were a bit dehydrated, but we kept you on fluids so there's no problems there. You also have gotten fourteen stitches on your thigh and the eight on your hand had to be redone since it had gotten infected and a few had popped out of place. Thankfully the wound on your thigh didn't get infected, but there is still the possibility that it could if not taken care of properly. The cut on your forehead was merely a flesh wound and didn't require any stitching to close it. Your ribs on your left side are bruised and you have a sunburn on seventy percent of your body. Any questions so far?"
Ash shook his head as he took in the information. "None at the moment," he replied to give the doctor a verbal answer, "So far seems pretty straightforward to me."
"Alright. Now onto care after being discharged," Dr. Asaad said as he placed his hands in his coat pocket, "Apply after sun care to your sunburned areas as you usually would have done after a day at the beach. Keep the stitched areas clean and dry. To clean the areas gently use your fingers while using mild soaps and water twice daily before using an anti-bacterial ointment. You may leave them exposed, unless you really feel the need to bandage them. You or your mother can get the ointment over the counter at any pharmacy or Mart. I am also going to prescribe you to one to two weeks of bed rest to help heal your ribs. You may get up and walk around, but please do take it easy. Don't stand for long periods of time and if the pain gets worse you can take pain medication and ice your ribs. If at any time you feel as though your injuries have gotten worse, you may of course return here or to your regular doctor."
Ash nodded as he took in the information the doctor had given him before he was told that they would send an aftercare sheet home with him once he was discharged. "So when will I be able to leave?" Ash asked as he ran his hand over Riolus' belly.
"Whenever your mother gets here to pick you up," Dr. Asaad said as he gave Ash a smile before injecting Ashs' IV with the pain medication, "After you have eaten something as well. Now if there is nothing else you need or have concerns with, I will leave you two be and carry on to visit my other patients."
Ash waited until the doctor had left to let out a laugh. "I like him," Ash said as he looked over at Paul.
"Should I be worried?" Paul drawled out with a raised eyebrow which sent Ash into a fit of giggles.
"I'm happy to be home," Ash said as he sat down on the couch with Pikachu beside him and with Riolu exploring the living room, "but I don't like that you sent Paul away."
Delia laughed softly as she sent her pouting son a look. "I'm sure Paul would have loved to stay here with you, but I haven't seen you in a while and I'm sure he wouldn't mind going and training his pokémon up for the rest of his gym battles. When you leave from here you can spend whatever amount of time you want with him," she explained as she moved a bit to give Riolu some space to get between her and the kitchen.
Ash let out a sigh before nodding. "You know I love spending time with you, Mom." Ash replied as Pikachu let out a yawn. The little mouse hadn't left his side since they had been re-united.
"I love spending time with you too," Delia said, "Now, we are going to have beef kebabs tonight. Want to help cut the veggies? You can also release your pokémon as well."
"Sure," Ash said as he slowly got up and followed her to the kitchen, "Though some of my pokémon are too big to be released inside."
"We can go to the pastures tomorrow then to let them out," Delia said as she got everything out they needed, "I want you to rest though before you go there. I'll drive you."
Ash nodded before he started to help his mom with their dinner for the night. She also started on the rice and announced that she had mochi in the freezer that she had picked up the other day for dessert. After cutting all the food Ash released Vulpix, Eevee, Zoroark, Doublade, Nidorino, and Meowth who let out a growl before running and hiding as she usually does.
Ash let out a sigh before mentally cursing himself for not releasing the melanistic pokémon first. He got up to find where she hid, which was under the stairs in the storage closet, to comfort her and take her to his room where she would be more comfortable. He would work with her while they were here to help socialize her more and to get her to not be so afraid of other pokémon.
Returning back to the kitchen he saw that his mother had already went out their sliding door to where their grill was. Grabbing Kingdras' ball, having decided he needed to speak with the pokémon, followed her outside. After closing the door Ash saw Riolu sniffing a few daisies and Pikachu was sitting on the ledge of a raised flower bed looking over the backyard.
"Mom," Ash said as he walked over to her, "Would you mind if I released Kingdra out here? I need to speak to him."
"Go right ahead sweetie," Delia said as she nodded and set the grill to start heating up.
Ash gave her a smile before walking over to the most open spot of their backyard away from his mothers' rose bushes and tomato plants. He whistled for Riolu and told him to go stand by Pikachu for a moment before throwing the ball in the air. "Come on out!" Ash called out releasing the seahorse.
When the red beam faded Ash could see the large being before him clearly. Where Seadra was all spikes on his fins and head, Kingdra was much more sleek and taller than he was by at least half a foot. His fin became smaller and formed into one fin on his back, his snout longer and more narrow, and his tail was less furled then it was in his Seadra form. Instead of spiked fins on his head there were two two-pronged fins extended slightly past his cheeks with a smaller white fin under it. On his head were two long spines with what looked like a branch extending from them.
What caught his eye most of all was the large scar along his chest. The scar extended from the lower left portion of his abdomen and extended up towards his right jaw. It had a weird curve to it, but thankfully it was mostly healed up and with what looked to be newly forming scales over it. It seemed like Ash wasn't the only one to be injured, but it looks like Kingdra was going to be okay.
"Kingdra," Ash said softly, gaining the seahorses' attention. Narrow red eyes looked over towards him and he let out a deep sounding trill. The dragon/water type leaned forward and placed the tip of his snout on his trainers' cheek in greeting. "Kingdra," Ash said once more before he asked, "Did you evolve to save me?"
The larger seahorse merely nodded before letting out another trill, this time lighter in tone.
"Thank you," he said softly as he reached out and placed his hand on the sharp jaw of his Kingdra. "Look at you now," Ash said softly, "You're so handsome and stronger than before. You can be on land now!"
Kingdra let out a lower trill as he leaned into his trainers' touch. He was just as excited as his trainer and to be on land with the rest of the pack was a dream come true. He had been worried about his trainer after carrying him to that island. He had gotten so tired and was in severe pain, but he knew he couldn't stop since Ash depended on him to get him to safety.
His trainer hadn't woken up during the whole journey to the island and he had just managed to get onto the hot sands of the beach when he collapsed and fell unconscious himself. He woke up a few hours later with his trainers' mate beside him only to find out that his trainer was still asleep. He did the only thing he could do at the time. He had stayed out of his ball to keep watch over the pack and keep them protected for his trainer.
"You've done so well Kingdra," Ash said softly as to enjoy the happy relaxed atmosphere around them and not break it up by getting too excited. "Get some rest," he said as he pulled his hand away as the other grabbed the seahorses' ball, "In a few days we'll be training harder than ever to get everyone ready for the last four gym battles."
Kingdra let out a goodbye trill before being called back. Ash took a deep breath before he turned to go back inside. His Kingdra got hurt because of him. Because he decided to get on the ship and because he decided to stay behind to help calm the Gyarados. It was his fault Kingdra got scarred up.
His mother thankfully didn't comment on his sudden quietness and Pikachu didn't send him any electric shocks if he held him too close or too tight. He did grab his ancestors journal though to try and get his mind off the depressing thoughts. The page he turned to was set well into the future since the last entry and Ash wondered what happened to keep Sir Aaron from writing. The page had smudges of what looked like dirt or soot on it.
May XX, XXXX
Day one hundred and sixty-two of training.
Nearly one hundred days have passed since I last wrote in this journal. Much has happened during that time. Riolu evolved into Lucario, our training had been upped to an unspeakable torture, and there had been rumors of war.
Never in my lifetime would I think that I would speak of war or even write it down. Master Roque has told me to write a letter to someone and keep it safe and hidden in my belongings here at the Sanctuary. The only upside is that if war does break out between our kingdom and the Doreta Kingdom, my dear, Lucinda will stay behind with a few others and the new trainees. Normally she would be there fighting by my side, but something else happened during the time I spent not writing in this journal.
We got married.
It was a rushed thing and by the time the masters learned what we had done it was too late to keep us apart. My Lucinda is carrying my child. Her womb was full of life and the Aura was bright when looking at her. She absolutely radiated it.
I can only hope that war is not declared so I can see my child born and raise him up to be a kind, gentle, and strong man.
End of day one hundred and sixty-two of training.
A.R.K.
