New Girl
A/N: A little drabble about what I think would have happened if Casey never existed, even though she kicks ass. One shot. Mention of a past OA. Candice Burgess is mine, not yours. Get over it. However, the rest of them are Dick Wolf's, and I can't get over that.
As Candice Burgess walked up to the 16th, she wondered what the hell she was doing there. She was perfectly happy at her ADA job at Narcotics, and wanted to stay there. But no, "this new job will soften your rough edges", her boss told her. Yeah, right. Candice Burgess was not exactly one you wanted to get on the bad side of. She was 5'7, and she had a glare that would make a mob boss cower in fear.
She walked through the doors and took a look around. In one corner, a detective in his mid-late 60s was attempting to make coffee; however he spilled the coffee beans when he opened up the can.
"Dammit!" he said and an African American detective went over to help him clean up the mess, clearly amused. At another desk, what appeared to be the only female detective was writing paperwork. Candice walked towards the door of the Captain's office, which was closed. However she could see through the blinds and it appeared he was yelling into the phone.
'Well, I might as well knock' Candice thought. However, just as she was about to knock, the female detective noticed her presence. "You're not going to want to do that" she said. "Some files we need for an open case can't be found, and judging by the way you looked at my captain screaming into the phone, you get the rest." "By the way, who are you?" she asked.
"Candice Burgess. ADA Candice Burgess." Candice said.
"Well, I'm Detective Benson, but you can call me Olivia." she said. "Since you can't get the full tour, here it is in a nutshell. The two bumbling idiots over by the coffee machine are Detective Munch and Tutuola. My partner, Detective Stabler, is off today. You know what, I'll call your office when you can come back and formally meet everyone, it's kind of hectic right now." Olivia said.
"Alright." Candice said, and proceeded to walk out the doors. Once she reached the elevators, she said to herself, "Maybe working at the Special Victims Unit won't be so bad after all." and she smiled.
Back in the squadroom, looking at the picture of Alex on her desk, Olivia said "Maybe you have some competition after all."
