Hey Nuggies! Well I really shouldn't be doing this, but here I am writing another fanfiction since I have writers block on a few of my other ones, and because this won't leave me alone. Here is your warning: this will be SLASH! I have decided though that this will not have M!Preg.

Main Pairing: AshxPaul

Side pairing: AshxGary (One sided on Gary's part)

Rating: M (to be safe)

Chapter Warning(s): Brief mention of vomiting towards the end of the chapter.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon, it belongs to Game Freak, Nintendo, Creatures, The Pokemon Company, etc, nor do I write this for profit. This is for entertainment use only!

Release Day Countdown: Today beeches! Did I surprise y'all? I planned on posting this chapter at this time all along! Hahahaha!

Also! I decided to make a discord server for all my fanfics (Arceus I hope I made it right. I have no clue on how to make a server so I probs butchered it all to heck, but it's something!). Just copy and paste it into your web browser and it should work, I hope. You can talk to me real time there, ask questions, speak to others that may have the same interests as you. All I ask is that you read the rules and follow them. Thanks! ( /t6c7nFXqss )

Enjoy!

After being released from the hospital, with instructions to ice his back, take pain medicine when he needed to, and after getting his belongings, Ash followed Lance and his entourage to the main building of the League. Lance told him on the walk over that his pokémon had been given to the Leagues' Pokemon Caretakers after being seen by Nurse Joy. The way Lance explained the caretakers made them seem like glorified babysitters. They took care of any pokémon that came to the League for any reason. At the moment his pokémon were the only pokémon that were in the building that the Caretakers were looking after.

As they neared the building that held his pokémon Ash could hear people yelling and the roars of some pokémon within it along with a few crashes and glass breaking. Man and teen shared a look with each other before running towards the door. They ran through the main area of the building, not even stopping when a worker yelled at them to, and made their way to where the sounds were coming from.

The room was large and its ceiling and walls were made of a glass dome letting in the natural sunlight. The flooring was covered in grass in some areas, and in others sand and dirt. Off to one side was a man made pond and all throughout the area were various fruit trees and fruit bushes for the pokémon and workers to snack on during their time in the sanctuary area.

In the center of the area were three workers, two in a green uniform, and the last worker had on blue scrubs, along with his Zoroark who had Riolu in his mane. From where he stood Ash could see just behind Zoroark and saw another man holding a gun of some sort. It didn't look like a gun he had ever seen before, but nonetheless it was a gun pointed right at his pokémon.

"What are you doing?!" Ash yelled, causing the workers and Lance to look at him. Zoroark let out a loud bark and leaped over the workers to get to Ash.

"Sir! Please get away! He's being aggressive! Brian!" the female worker, the one in the blue scrubs, yelled towards Ash and then to her co-worker, the one in the bushes with the gun, Ash assumed.

Ash let out a sigh as Zoroark skid to a stop in front of him and gave his trainer a snort and growl in greeting. Riolu, who had tucked down into the mane when Zoroark moved, popped up and let out a few whimpers as he stuck out his two paws towards Ash. The teen reached out, ignoring the screeching from the lady, and picked the pup up out of the thick mane to hold close to his own body. "Good boy Zoroark," Ash said as he gave the dark type scratches on his jaw and behind an ear.

"Zoroark wasn't being aggressive for no reason," Ash said as Zoroark crouched down to rest a bit, "you were getting too close to one of the pups of his pack. If you know anything about pokémon, and I hope you do since you work for the League and take care of their pokémon, it's common knowledge that you don't go near their babies. You especially don't go pointing guns towards them either."

The lady sputtered out an excuse that Ash didn't pay attention to as he surveyed the rest of the area to try and see if he could find any of the others. He held back a smirk as he saw Persian slowly stalking forwards towards the man with the gun. He knew from experience that she was completely silent, and if he hadn't seen her golden gem sparkle in the light he would have never seen her. From behind a tree to the right Gardevoir was standing there with her arm raised towards the workers and had psychic energy gathered at her fingertips. Under a bush to the left was Leafeon, her tail poised, her form crouched and tense, and her eyes trained on the worker closest to her. In the shadow of the woman was Aegislash, her eyes gleaming and trained on the woman. He didn't see Pikachu or Shinx and assumed that they were further into the flora away from the workers so Pikachu could keep Shinx safe.

"My pokémon are trained, ma'am," Ash said as he turned towards her, her face red from embarrassment, "they're trained to protect those they see as pack and to hunt those who they see as a danger to said pack. At the moment you and your workers are being seen as a danger to the pack. If you don't back down then you will be hunted, just look around and tell me I'm wrong."

The woman took a look around, as did her coworkers, and scrambled back towards the glass dome. The other workers scattered further away from the pokémon just as Persian pounced onto the worker with the gun. Ash watched as she quickly took the gun away from the man and tossed it further into the flora around them. His feline pokémon let out a roar as she pinned him down with her weight and placed her bared teeth against his neck.

Leafeon ran forward corralling the worker she had her eyes on up against a large rock as Gardevoir captured her prey with her psychic energy. The last one to make a move was Aegislash who had slowly came out of the womans' shadow in front of her, frightening the woman to the point she slid down the glass into a seated position. Lance, who had kept quiet since they ran into the building, let out a boisterous laugh making Ash look over at him.

"You've certainly trained your pokémon well," Lance said once he had finished laughing.

"Thank you, but be thankful that the rest of my team isn't here. We would have walked into a bloodbath if my Tyrantrum, Charizard, Kingdra, Nidoking, Ninetales, and Krookodile were also here," Ash said as he gave the man a shrug. Turning back to his pokémon Ash let out a sharp whistle causing his pokémon to release their prey and run over towards him. He paid no attention to the workers as they gathered themselves and cleared out of the area.

"Zoroark, go get Pikachu and Shinx," Ash said as he ran his hands over Persians' silky fur and began to look them over to make sure they were all in the same shape he had left them in. His illusionist gave Ash a nod before jumping into the sky and transforming into a Pidgeot to find the last members of the pack.

"Are your Zoroarks' illusions always like that?" Lance asked and when Ash turned to answer he saw that Lance was still looking towards where Zoroark had transformed and flew off.

"Yes. Even when he was a Zorua," Ash answered truthfully, "as soon as he was healthy enough I had him training to use his illusions to the best of his ability. His control got even better after he evolved. So much better that his illusion transformations are basically physical transformations."

"Healthy enough?"

Ash let out a soft sigh as he stood up and switched Riolu from one arm to the other. "Yeah. Most of my team were rescues. Krookodile, Leafeon, and Charizard were given to me by others as well as Riolus' egg. Pikachu was my starter. Kingdra and Nidoking were the only two I had battled and caught," Ash said as he began to explain where he had gotten all of his pokémon, "I was given the reward to go to a breeder and choose any pokémon I wanted from what he had and that's where I got Aegislash, after proving that I was worth her time to follow. Gardevoir, Zoroark, Persian, Shinx, Tyrantrum, and Ninetales were rescues from various places. Although I picked up Zoroark and Gardevoir at the same police station they were being held at. I told you about my other pokémon and they were a special circumstance. Then I have an egg I won at a contest."

Just as Lance opened his mouth to speak, Zoroark appeared from over the treetops. On his back were Pikachu and Shinx while in one of his clawed feet was his egg. Zoroark let out a sharp chirp before releasing the egg in mid air above the group, which Gardevoir caught just as the egg left his talons with her psychic powers. The illusionist canceled his illusion just before landing and quickly turned around to catch Pikachu and Shinx mid fall.

Pikachu simply let out an annoyed chitter before running over to Ash while Shinx trotted over to Persian and Zoroark followed the two until he was next to Gardevoir. Ash simply stood still as Pikachu climbed his body until he was on his usual perch on Ashs' shoulder.

"Well, if we're done here shall we get going?" Ash asked as he turned to Lance, who still had the look of amusement on his face.

"Of course! Recall your team and we'll head off to the helipad," Lance said as he walked off which prompted Ash into recalling his team besides Pikachu as usual. The teen had to jog a bit to catch up to Lance, but slowed down as they left the building. The trek to the helipad thankfully wasn't a long one thanks Lance calling for a ride. The helipad turned out to be further up into the mountains behind the large League building.

"So what are we going in?" Ash asked as the jeep came to a stop by a large, tall fenced in area. In the middle of the area was a big metal sheet with the Leagues' logo painted onto it. Upon further investigation Ash could see that it was possible for the metal sheet to come apart like he had seen in a spy movie he had watched when he was younger.

"How do you feel about dragons?" Lance asked as he placed his hand on a scanner by a gate, a gate Ash had not noticed, and pulled his hand back after the machine gave off a beep.

"I like dragons," Ash said as he followed Lance onto the metal sheet.

"Good!" Lance said as he reached for his pokéballs, that were under his cape and attached to his belt. He tossed two up into the air and with a flash of red two large orange dragons were released in front of the two humans.

The larger dragon of the two let out a low croon as it spotted its trainer while the smaller one kept its eyes on Ash. Ash held its gaze for a moment until the dragon let out a smoky snort and turned its head. Its small wings flapped making the air around them twirl before it settled down. Just from the initial look over Ash could tell that Lance takes really good care of the dragons.

"Ash these are my Dragonite," Lance said and gestured to the larger dragon, "This one is my first dragon and starter, and this lovely girl is his daughter. She just evolved a month ago."

"Absolutely amazing," Ash replied as he let his eyes wander around their forms and Pikachu tilted his head as he waved his tail in greeting, "Are they flying us to the mountain?"

"Yes! I do hope you are prepared," Lance said, letting out a chuckle, "I'd recall your Pikachu, if I were you. Wouldn't want the mouse to go flying off the back of Dragonite and you'll need two hands to hold on."

Ash nodded and gave Pikachu a soft apologetic look before recalling him into his rarely used ball. As an afterthought he unhooked the belt that held all of his packs' balls and placed them in his bag beside his egg. "Flying fast with Dragonite won't harm my egg or the babies inside of it, will it?" Ash had to ask just to make sure that the babies would be fine and not scrambled or injured in any way.

"Nope! I've gone on plenty of flights with Dragonite all the while holding eggs in my arms or in my bag," Lance said as he tightened his cloak, "so if you're ready, you'll be riding with her. I'll help you get on and get situated before we go."

Ash nodded and tightened his bag, with its chest and waist clips, closer to his body to try and keep it from bouncing around. He stepped closer to the dragon and gave her a small closed mouth smile before she turned around so her back was to Ash. The teen carefully climbed onto her back and placed his feet and hands where Lance gestured.

"Keep a good hold on her and when you see me do it lay as flat as you can against her back," Lance said as he looked over Ash once more just to make sure that he was in the right position, "that way there's less resistance during the flight. Don't worry about impeding her wings with your hands, a Dragonites' wings may be small, but they're powerful and can move with just about anything on them. Just keep your grip at the base."

"Got it," Ash said and watched as Lance got into the same position on his own Dragonites' back. The way Lance moved to get on the dragons' back was smooth and flawless, but the man does have years of practice. Ash tightened his grip as the two dragons began to lift off from the metal sheet and he watched around amazed at the height they were getting to.

Ash had never flown on the back of a pokémon before, sadly as strong as Charizard was his wings were lacking a bit so he couldn't carry heavy loads for a long time. That was something the albino was going to have to work on as Ash was beginning to love flying on the back of Dragonite. The world seemed to go past them in a big blurry motion as they left the mountain the League building was on.

Ash couldn't help the sound of laughter that escaped him once they were in the open air with nothing around them besides the clouds. If he were looking, Ash would have seen the absolute pure joy on Lances' face as the man shared something he enjoyed with another person. The flight soon ended, much sooner than Ash (and not so secretly Lance) wanted, and the realization that they were going to have to get serious soon fell upon them.

"Thank you Dragonite," Ash said softly after they landed a few yards away from the wreckage and he got off the orange dragons' back. His thanks was met with a snort and soft croon.

The sight the two were greeted upon was similar to the one Ash had been to as well as in the many photos he had seen of the other hideouts. The ground was torn up, trees were knocked down, damaged, or broken in half, and in the center of it all was a large cave in. There were also vehicles and other machinery around them that seemed to have been rolled over a few times before coming to a stop.

Ash followed Lance and the two walked forward slowly as the two didn't want to step on a piece of unstable ground and fall into the earth. Ash, having spotted the truck that was in the picture Magdalene had shown them, gestured over to it and said that he was going to go check it out. After waiting for a moment for Lance to give him the okay, and some latex gloves as a just in case, Ash made his way over to the truck.

He had to dodge coagulated clumps of what was once a green liquid as well as debris from other vehicles before he was able to stand in front of the torn out back of the truck. Looking over the busted out tank Ash spotted a few pieces of papers, crumpled and covered with the green substance as well as broken glass. Pulling on the gloves Lance had given him Ash carefully leaned over and grabbed the papers. The splotches of green made the papers hard to read, but he got the gist of it.

The other papers, from what Ash could discern, detailed what exactly they had done to the creature that was held inside the tank and the amount of experiments that had been done before even his Mewtwo had been created. The only question he had is were in the world did they get DNA, let alone enough of it, of Mew to do all of this? A fossil perhaps.

"Lance!" Ash yelled to gain the mans' attention, "You might want to see this." Ash kept his eyes on the papers and truck as he heard Lance walk over. Once he handed the papers over he carefully stepped into the truck, crunching the broken glass under his shoe, to take a closer look over the interior in case he could find anything else.

"Well, this solidifies the theory that it is Team Rocket that has done all of this," Lance said as he placed the papers in a plastic bag he had pulled out from a pack attached to his thigh.

"But where did they even get Mew DNA?" Ash asked as he stepped back out of the truck since he didn't see anything else in the wreckage.

"I'm not sure," Lance said as he gave the teen a shrug, "I did find an area down by the sinkhole that we can go down further into the building. It looks safe enough to go, if you want to join me. Do you have a pokémon that could teleport us out if we need it?"

Ash nodded and followed Lance as he led the way to the sinkhole. The area Lance had indicated had a ladder that led down to a platform of some kind. Lance grabbed onto the ladder as Ash opened his bag to grab Gardevoirs' ball to keep it close in case they needed her. Once Lance was on the platform Ash took a deep breath before slowly descending into the hole to follow him. The area around them was wrecked with metal beams blocking a good portion of the area, but there was one way that was clear of the beams.

The dust in the air coated the inside of his nose the further they went down and threatened to make him sneeze, but thankfully he was able to hold back on that. They went by room after room, but they were more like conference rooms than the labs they were expecting to find. It was also a surprise that the further down they went the cleaner and less destroyed everything was. The damage the Mewtwos' had caused on the surface didn't reach as far down as one would think.

"Do you think the other locations are like this?" Ash asked as they once again found another conference room.

"Perhaps," Lance said as he opened another door, "I might send some people to check them out if it is the case. Send in some of the psychic squads just to make sure that everything is safe for the exploring teams to go down."

Ash nodded as he opened a door to a stairwell. "Maybe the labs are further down," he said as he led the way down the stairs. They checked floors 2-5, with the fifth floor being the lowest level from what they could tell from the stairwell, with no luck and just as Lance was about to ask Ash to teleport them out with Gardevoir when Ash discovered another staircase.

"There's only one level," Lance observed as the two reached the bottom of the staircase only to be met with a door. The older man reached out and pushed open the door only to be met with a loud screech from the hinges. The room within was covered in a thick layer of dust. It covered the floors, walls, the cobwebs that hung in the corners, the various pieces of equipment, and other odds and ends that were in the room. But in the dead center of the room was a single file folder laying on the floor clean of any dust.

As Lance walked to the folder Ash went around the room to look at everything else. The cabinets around the room were empty except for bare file folders like the one Lance was looking at. The beakers on the chemistry table were broken, and any chemicals that would have been there were gone. Sitting on the desk was a small stuffed rabbit, covered in dust just like everything else, and a broken picture frame.

Carefully picking up the frame and letting the glass fall onto the desk, with a soft tinkling sound as they met the surface of the desk, Ash then pried the photo out of the frame. In the picture were two humans. The man in the photo wore glasses over his blue eyes and had dark brown hair that matched his goatee while the small child in the picture had blue hair and blue eyes. In the picture the child was holding the same stuffed rabbit that was on the desk.

When Ash turned the photo around he was given the names of the people in the photo. "Amber and John Fuji. January XX, XXXX," Ash murmured and as he was going to put the photo back down with the frame he saw that there was another photo that had been hidden behind the other one still in the frame. Picking that photo up Ash swore his heart skipped a beat as he stared into familiar amethyst eyes of a very small Mewtwo standing beside Amber Fuji. Turning the photo around he saw more writing on the back, 'Amber and Experiment M01. June XX, XXXX.'

"This folder was meant for someone to find." Lance said just as Ash turned to get Lances' attention for the photos, "There's a handwritten letter in here from the doctor who started all of this with an explanation as well as details on everything they had done, where they got their base materials, and the reason why they did it. This doctor, John Fuji, started researching cloning after his daughter died in a car accident over twenty years ago. He was recruited to make a powerful cloned pokémon weapon by the Leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni."

"Like Viridian Gym Leader, Giovanni?" Ash cut in as Lances' voice faded away.

"Maybe. I'm sure there are other people named Giovanni," Lance said, not wanting to believe that one of his Gym Leaders, a man that worked for his League, could be the Leader of the organization that wanted to take over the world. "In the letter Fuji stated that he not only successfully used DNA taken from a Mew fossil to create a Mew clone, but that he also successfully cloned his daughter, A-"

"Amber," Ash said, cutting off Lance as he looked down at the photos in his hands, the pictures were a bit shaky due to his own hands shaking, "cloned his daughter, Amber."

Ash felt Mewtwos' ball around his neck warm up and shake a bit before falling still. "Continue please," Ash said softly as he reached up to cup the ball as if to try and reassure Mewtwo that he was okay. That they were okay.

"They found a Mew fossil on Guyana, an island far south of the Hoenn border, but when Fuji used the DNA found within it to clone Mew something went wrong, or something got mixed within the DNA so what came out wasn't a Mew. It was bigger, and very different from a regular Mew, so they dubbed it Mewtwo," Lance said as Ash leaned against the dusty desk behind him.

"So, Mewtwo was made in this lab," Ash said softly as ran his thumb over the top of the ball in his hand.

"After seeing that this Mew clone was viable the Leader made them move from this location to an island, called New Island, off the coast of Kanto. There Fuji watched over the Mewtwo as it grew in its test tube all the while he continued to clone other pokémon around them. The Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle he had cloned didn't make it, but that didn't stop him from trying to clone Amber. It had taken Fuji a few times, but he finally made a successful clone. It spoke like her, ate like her, hugged like her. It lived just like his daughter would have if she had lived after the accident," Lance said, clearing his throat softly, "the Mew clone was taken out of its holding tank sixth months after getting to the island and it grew up beside his daughter, but unlike her the people on the island experimented on it. Within a year of the Mew clone being out and being trained his daughter passed away. He went to wake her up one morning, but she was already gone. He stopped cloning that day. Fuji had asked a friend of his, a fellow scientist, to place this folder here after she was called back to the mainland. Then a few days later, Fuji took his own life."

Silence reigned over them as the last words Lance said sounded from his mouth. Ash bit his lip and nodded his head as Lance pointed upward. He called out Gardevoir, who kept silent, as she teleported the two out of the building and gave her trainer a soft look before she was recalled back into her ball. As Ash knelt to put the ball back in its place on his belt, which was still in his bag, he spotted a series of blood drops on the floor.

Standing up and shrugging on his bag he followed the trail with Lance right behind him. When he was asked what he was doing he pointed at the drops. Then the drops turned into small puddles, and those puddles turned into streaks.

"It looks like something was dragged in there," Lance said as the trail led them to a pile of debris that was stacked just well enough to make a hideaway.

"Yeah," Ash said as he agreed with Lance.

"Stand back," Lance said as he reached out to grab the sheet metal that was blocking the entrance to the little hideaway, and Ash took a few steps away and to the left so he wasn't in the way. Carefully, as to not cut himself on the edges, Lance pulled the metal away with a loud metallic grinding sound before it gave way to gravity and fell onto the ground beside the two.

"Back AWAY!"

Ash gasped and forced his eyes closed as a searing pain started in his head making him lightheaded and nauseous at the same time. The high pitched ringing that came with the pain made him reach up with shaking hands to cover his ears as if he would be able to block the noise out. Ash felt large warm hands gripping his arms helping him to slowly kneel down so if he were to fall he wouldn't get too injured from the height.

"-sh!"

The teen coughed a few times before turning away to throw up everything he had in his stomach. He felt his hat being taken off his head and a large hand on his back as he continued to get sick. It wasn't until the ringing faded away that he felt as though he could move without being sick anymore, not that he had much, if anything at all, left in his stomach.

"Ash?" Lances' deep voice was a balm to his ears.

"'m okay," Ash murmured before spitting into the puddle of sick. He reached back and grabbed his bottle of water from the side pocket of his bag. He spat one more time to clean his mouth out after taking a swig of water before taking small sips to try and relieve his burned throat.

"Move away," Ash said softly and without saying anything Lance helped him move from the offending sight and smell.

"What was that?" Lance asked as Ash put the bottle back.

"Her," Ash said as he pointed to the hideaway, and from the small amount of sunlight peeking in through various holes in the structure, a familiar form could be seen. The Mewtwo from the bottom of the first picture, leaning back against the wall she had created, stared back at the two humans. Her hand raised, shaking as it was, was trained on them with bright pink psychic energy covering it. Ash could see from where he was that she was covered in blood that came from two particular spots on her body, one on her chest, and the other on her stomach.

"I-I won't say it again! Back away!"
