"Leaf!" Blue cried again as he saw the infected Ariados get closer towards the brunette. Blue turned back to see his Charizard, Scizor, Golduck and Machamp all fighting to their fullest against the infected army that had gotten bigger after Charizard had gotten annoyed and threw away the infected Raichu.
Blue narrowly avoided a Jigglypuff as he saw the Ariados just 2 inches away from Leaf. He suddenly heard a cry as he saw his Golduck go down and before one of those infected Pokemon could bite his water type, he quickly pulled out the pokeball that belonged to said Pokemon and returned him just in time too. Just when he thought it would all be over for Leaf, did he hear something unexpected…
"Robin, flame charge that Ariados!" yelled out a voice from out of nowhere as Blue saw a teen about his age with black hair and blue eyes suddenly land on the ground beside him. After that an Umbreon also landed on the ground with a Shuppet floating nervously down as well
Before Blue could even ask what was going on or where the teen even came from, he noticed the Ariados on the spider web suddenly get engulfed in bright red flames as the Pokemon who attacked it was revealed to be a Fletchinder, flying and fire type native to the Kalos region "Robin, keep that Ariados away using long range attacks if possible" the boy said as his Fletchinder, nicknamed Robin nodded and used both a flamethrower and quick attack, while at the same time making sure to stay out of reach of the other infected Pokemon
"Phantom" he suddenly called out as the dark type used a dark pulse to knock away an infected Houndoom "Quick use psychic and get that girl down from that spider web while we still can" he told his Umbreon, who nodded and used his psychic to carefully get the brunette out of the sticky spider web. Once she was free, the dark type Eeveelution placed her gently on the ground, just as his trainer shouted a different command for him to use
"Leaf! I'm glad you're alright" Blue said as running over towards her as his Pokemon blocked any incoming attack. He held onto Leaf tightly as she was shaking terribly at the thought of almost becoming like one those lifeless victims "I'm sorry I couldn't do anything sooner. I shouldn't have led us to that dead end in the first place" Blue apologized, not noticing the black haired teen command his Fletchinder over towards them
Leaf shook her head as she looked at him "Don't blame yourself Blue. It's not your fault… I should have been faster and not have let myself get caught so easily…" she told him and suddenly realized something… why were none of the infected Pokemon attacking them or the rest of their Pokemon for that matter
"Hey less talk, more trying to escape from here please" said the black haired teen as both Dex Holders suddenly realized why the infected Pokemon hadn't attacked in awhile. All of them (including Blue's Pokemon) were protected by a greenish barrier, with Umbreon being the one producing it "Right, sorry about that. I should thank you though for saving me from that sticky situation" Leaf said as the teen sent her a small smile, happy she was alright… of course now was not the time for talking and looked at them with a serious expression soon after
"Do you guys have any Pokemon who can fly you out of here?" he asked the Viridian gym leader and the brunette. Both nodded and got out a pokeball each "Good. Phantom won't be able to keep this up much longer and if any of us wish to get out of here with our brains still intact and not become a lifeless zombie, then I'd suggest you both prepare yourselves for a quick getaway" he continued saying and pulled out 1 pokeball, returning only his Fletchinder as his Shuppet stayed out for some reason. Blue copied the other boy and returned his Charizard, Scizor and Machamp back into their own pokeballs, but not before thanking them for the help they did
"Alright, get ready. Phantom, drop the shield in" the black haired teen started saying "3…" he said starting the countdown "2…" he brought out a different pokeball and nodded at both Kanto Dex Holders "1.." all three prepared themselves
"NOW!" with that said all three tossed their pokeballs right as the shield disappeared. 3 different Pokemon appeared; a Pidgeot, a Wigglytuff and a Staraptor "Let's go!" the black haired teen said returning his very tired Umbreon back before one of the infected Pokemon had a change of biting the dark type and jumped onto his Staraptor, with his Shuppet attacking any incoming infected Pokemon to buy the trio some time. Blue not wasting any time, jumped onto his Pidgeot as Leaf jumped on top of her Wigglytuff soon after
Once all three were in the air, did the teen return his Shuppet back "Thank you Sheron, you did a great job out there defending and protecting us while we took off" he said putting the pokeball away. He looked at the infected city and sighed. This was the fourth city to be infected in the last two weeks here in Kanto and still there has been no update on what is being done to counteract this ordeal
"I can't believe it… Viridian City has also been overrun by them" said Leaf with a sad look on her face at the thought of another city being filled with many infected "It's not just Viridian. As you know Cerulean, Pewter and Vermillion have suffered alright, but now Saffron is also reporting cases of these infected humans and Pokemon too. It's only a matter of time before Celadon or even Pallet Town is hit" said the black haired teen with a worried look on his face
"It's spreading faster than before. With there being even more Pokemon and humans infected, the faster it can spread throughout the region" Blue commented and then thought of his grandfather back in Pallet. Hopefully he would be able to get out alright… Of course Blue wanted nothing more than to help get the Professor out of Pallet, but thought that maybe he was already gone and would be going over there for no reason. Of course that wasn't the case, but the Viridian gym leader didn't know that at the time
"I never did introduce myself. You can call me Richard, or if you want to Dick or Rich. I don't mind which you use really. Nice to meet you both" said the now named teen; Richard with a smile
"I'm Leaf Green and this is Blue Oak. Sorry you had to deviate from your original course… but thank you for helping me out of that Ariados situation Dick" said the brunette as Blue nodded in thanks. Richard did help out Leaf and himself escape from that hell show, so it only seemed fair that he also thank him
Dick shook his head "Its fine… I was actually on my way from Pallet Town to Celadon City to visit my girlfriend, when I suddenly heard the scream and it's a good thing I got their in time too. I saw Blue trying to help you from above and knew that you could use the extra hand. Those infected Pokemon can be stubborn when it comes to wanting 'fresh meat'. I just hope that this whole thing doesn't reach any of the other regions" he said with a frown on his face at the thought of every region suffering like Kanto is currently suffering
"That might be hard… who's to say it hasn't yet reached Johto. After all Johto is the closest to Kanto and as such if the virus were to continue spreading, they would be the second region get it" Blue thought to himself, but decided against commenting this in fear that Leaf would start freaking out in some way or Dick would suck even more
After flying around away and getting a good distance away from the infected city, the trio stopped as they needed to split up now. Blue and Leaf waved goodbye to the black haired teen as he went off towards Celadon in search of his girlfriend, while the two Dex Holders would go to Mt. Silver like they had originally planned before
"Blue are you really sure this'll be a good idea?" Leaf questioned for the 5th time and Blue was losing his patience. However he answered her nicely "Yes. I am absolutely sure Leaf. And even if there is some sort of trouble, those infected won't know what hit them. After all I don't plan on going down so easily. I lost the Viridian Gym and almost lost you too. I won't let myself lose anything or anyone important to me. I won't be caught off guard again either" he said with a very serious tone as Leaf stared at him for awhile in surprise and a bit of admiration too
'He's still willing to fight against something that may not be stoppable… I have to admit I wouldn't have thought of him as one to want to keep going, but still he surprises me at times… I'm just glad he didn't leave me behind' Leaf thought to herself with a slight blush on her face and then looked away from Blue, as she realized she was probably staring at him for too long. They both finally reached their destination without any problems… but will it stay that way or not. They were lucky this time with Dick rescuing them, but next time they might not be as lucky…
Meanwhile in Celadon City
A young Blunette girl with a Piplup in her arms was currently watching a news report at the Pokemon Center. She looked at the images being shown in horror, covering her mouth with her hand once she saw various dead looking bodies of Pokemon and humans. Piplup had a similar reaction as his trainer once he saw the image too
"We are receiving multiple phone calls coming from various withness who were last reported to have escaped Viridian City. This conforms for us that today another one of our many cities here in Kanto have fallen. Among said fallen cities are Cerulean, Pewter, Vermillion and now Viridian. If we follow this pattern, it will only be a matter of time before Celadon City becomes a victim. Pallet Town be warned and prepare for the worst. This is Charlotte reporting from here in Celadon City" said the black haired news reporter with a nervous and worried expression as the channel turned off
The girl who was none other than Dawn Berlitz couldn't believe how she hadn't heard of this while she was in Saffron the other day. Hearing the words Pallet Town, made her mind immediately think of Ash Ketchum who lived there with his mother "Piplup, we're heading to Pallet Town" she declared as the Penguin Pokemon nodded already knowing what was on his trainer's mind. Both left the Pokemon Center soon after Dawn said this, leaving behind many worried trainers who had also seen the news report...
Next stop... Pallet Town!
So here was my first attempt at trying to put in a bit of romance with Blue/Leaf... I swear this chapter was gonna give me a headache. The reason why is cause I was battling on whether I should of killed Leaf or not. In the end as you can see I decided to let her live and introduced a new chapter. For the newly introduced slight OC, he's mostly based on the DC character Dick Grayson, but different at the same time of course. With Dawn now also introduced into the story, the next chapter will most likely be the end of the Kanto arc and have more known characters appear with their fates on the line.
