Outskirts of Pallet Town, 3 days later

Dawn hid behind a tree, trying to catch her breath. She had been on the run since landing in Viridian Forest a day ago. You see after she had left the Pokemon Center in Celadon 3 days ago, she started walking towards route 7, but then she remembered about how Saffron City was already also suffering like the other cities before it were. Due to this, Dawn called out her Togekiss and asked her if she could get a lift to Pallet Town. The Jubilee Pokemon nodded and allowed her trainer to get onto her back

The fly to Pallet Town was… eventful and life threatening. On the way, Dawn had failed to remember that there were also flying Pokemon that may have been infected. As such when she ran into one near Viridian Forest… well let's just say things could have gone way much smoother, had she remembered about that tiny detail

"I just had to say 'No need to worry'… me and my big mouth" Dawn said as she once again found herself on the run. Chasing her were none other than a whole group of Beedrill and Butterfree… and unfortunately they were all infected

Dawn knew she needed to find a way to lost them. What if Pallet Town still wasn't overrun yet? She may well end up bringing the deadly Pokemon over their! "No, I can't let them reach Pallet! Fighting them isn't much of an option either… I got it!" the blunette said as she finally thought of an idea on how to end this whole Ducklet chase

Meanwhile in Pallet Town

Professor Oak sighed in defeat. He had finally managed to transfer at least half of the Pokemon in his possession to Professors Juniper and Sycamore. After seeing the news on how past this whole incident was going, Oak knew he needed to protect the Pokemon left in his care

Due to his calculations, he immediately asked Tracy and Daisy to help him out with transferring the Pokemon. He was currently trying, key word trying to take a break and like his granddaughter and assistant, however it wasn't going easy for him. All 3 had been running around a lot, since some of the Pokemon were acting stubborn and refused to get into their pokeballs. As such… let's just say the ranch would need more than just a paint job, should anyone survive this whole ordeal

"Grandfather?" Daisy asked as she came back into the lab and saw Professor Oak beside his computer still, with a tired look "You promised you would take a break at the same time as me and Tracy… yet here I find you still working"

Oak sighed and turned to face the young adult "I know Daisy, but I won't be able to rest easy until I know that all the remaining Pokemon here are safe and sound" he told her seriously, which Daisy understood

"Then I'll take over for you. I'm already well rested and so is Tracy too. We'll continue on while you are going to go and take a long deserved break. If we have any trouble, you'll be the first to know. Besides Delia is also here and is in the living room currently talking with Tracy, you should go and join them" the brunette said, in a clear voice saying 'I won't take no for an answer'

Oak stared at his granddaughter for a good 1 minute until he finally nodded. Daisy was right after all, what if he fell asleep or something while transporting the remaining half of Pokemon and they ended up in a daycare or gym instead "Alright Daisy, I'll go and have a nice cup of tea while I take my break"

With that Professor Oak made his way over towards the living room and like Daisy said, there was Delia with Mimie sitting next to her as he heard Tracy in the middle of a conversation. All three were drinking a cup of tea; well Delia and Tracy were at least. He walked over towards the trio and made his presence known "Well Delia this is certainly a surprise. I wasn't expecting you until later today"

Delia and Tracy both got up once they heard Oak's voice. The young woman sent the Professor a warm smile "Oh hello Professor Oak. I'm sorry if I intruded on something important… it's just with all this talk about humans and Pokemon… and with Ash off somewhere else…"

"It's perfectly fine! You weren't intruding or anything like that. In fact I was just on my way to take a break from all my work" Oak said as he understood what Delia was trying to tell him. Also the promise he made Ash the last time he spoke with the boy, still bounced around inside his head 'Professor… please be careful and take care of my mom'

Back with Dawn

The blunette was on the brink of collapsing to the ground. She had finally lost the infected Pokemon a while ago, but wasn't too ready to let her guard down… after all, look where that had gotten her… chased around like a play toy. Currently she was sticking close to the shadows and bushes, so that she would be less likely to be spotted

"Pip?" asked the Penguin Pokemon sitting on Dawn's shoulder as he tilted his head in confusion at not seeing any houses or people yet

"Alright, we should be near the end of this forest and be able to see Pallet Town soon… unless we're lost again and are now walking around in circles" Dawn said as she looked at the map currently in her hands. She wasn't even sure if she was holding it correctly. All she saw every time she looked up was trees, trees and more trees "If it wasn't for the fact that those infected Butterfree and Beedrill may still be around here somewhere, I would ask for Togekiss to give us an aerial view… unless"

The teenage girl swung her yellow backpack off as she looked around for a certain item "Here we go!" she whisper yelled as Piplup saw the girl holding a ball of yarn. Slowly the girl pulled her bag back on and ran over towards a tree, still being careful to not be seen. She un-rolled the pink yarn and tied it to a branch "And there. Now if we see this string again, then we know that whether or not we passed by here"

Happy with her handiwork and with her plan in motion, Dawn started once again walking away, while un-rolling the yarn at the same time. Piplup sighed and hoped this 'brilliant plan' wouldn't backfire in any way or else it would be dead meat… maybe he's been spending too much time watching TV

Mount Silver

Red stared at both his friends as both returned their Pokemon back into their pokeballs. He saw the terrified look on Leaf's face, while Blue had one of determination and devastated "Are you guys alright?" he asked hesitantly, while throwing a glance at his Pokemon. They nodded and walked away to give the humans some space to talk things over

"Leaf's a little shaken up due to an incident that almost happened… Viridian City is… it's... it's gone. Overrun by these… infect Pokemon and people… We were able to escape thanks to another trainer's help… other than a few close calls, we're fine… or will be at least" Blue said with a clouded expression on his face as he threw a glance at Leaf every once in awhile

The brunette didn't seem to be in any mood to talk or comment as she sat down on one of the many rocks and hugged her knees tightly to her chest. Leaf knew this was way out of character for her… but she almost freaking got turned into one of those walking zombies! She had the right to not feel like her usual self

Red just nodded. He didn't know what else to do. Blue just lost his gym (maybe not so big a loss, but still a lost) and Leaf seemed to have suffered enough for Red to get the picture "I guess it really wouldn't have matter if I left… I'm sorry for what happened to the both of you"

Blue waved him off "Wasn't your fault to begin with. League isn't even giving any information… that is if they have any to begin with" he said with his arms crossed and narrowed eyes at the realization that the League maybe withholding information…

Red sighed and was about to say something, when he heard an explosion. All 3 looked at each other and then ran over to where they could get a better view. What they saw was something that made their faces go pale… Pallet Town was where the explosion had originated from and this worried all three of them, but none more than Blue.

The ex-gym leader wasted no time as he called out his Pidgeot and was in the air, before Red or Leaf could stop him. The black haired dex holder could only sigh and hope Blue wouldn't get into any troubles… besides he couldn't follow him and leave a distraught Leaf behind, that wouldn't be fair to her "Come on let's go. We need to get ourselves ready… something tells me, we won't be safe here in Kanto much longer"

Alright I finally updated again! So originally this was going to be the last chapter of the Kanto arc, but I decided to split it into two or three parts instead. Also sorry for leaving this chapter in a bit of a cliff hanger, but hey I always found them to be a cool way of getting people to try and think of a way on what may happen next. Until next time ;)
