"Again!"

Ash yelled as he saw his Lucario almost perfect his newest move. It had been over a week since he left Pallet Town to head towards the mountains behind Pewter to train his pokémon for the League and Riolu had finally evolved. The pup had been battling a wild Machoke, Ash had learned that Machoke was female and she had come near them when she heard the fighting, when he finally evolved. The Machoke had been taken with the pup and ended up mentoring Riolu for the time she stayed with them. It was during one of their sparring matches that Riolu was knocked down one too many times for Riolus' liking and had evolved and beaten Machoke.

And thus Lucario, a long awaited evolution, was finally here.

Not far behind Lucario was Luxio. The feline had become ferocious in her training and had taken to attacking anything she came across, pack not included. Persian was just able to keep Luxio from wandering off to find others to fight.

"Again, Lucario," Ash called out, "then you can take a well deserved break!"

He heard Lucario let out a bark as the jackal raised his paws, a well practiced move from when he was still a Riolu, and formed a condensed ball between his paws. The bright blue ball quickly turned bright purple before Lucario threw it forward. Ash watched as the ball burst a few feet away sending waves of Dragon Pulse along the ground.

"Good job Lucario," Ash said as he walked towards the panting jackal. Ash received a deep bark and could see Lucarios' tail wagging behind him as he gave Lucario a couple of berries to eat and some water to drink. "Take a break," Ash said and gave Lucario a few scratches on his jaw, "you deserve it."

Ash waited until Lucario went to find a place to take a nap before turning to the others, but before he could even open his mouth a loud growl and a crack of thunder followed by a flash of light interrupted him. Ash turned once more and saw Luxio sending a Thunder at a wild Rhydon that must have wandered into their training area. Ash saw the Thunder roll off its thick, scarred hide and it only served to make the Rhydon angry.

Ash began to yell for Luxio to come back when the Rhydon stomped its foot causing large rocks to shoot up from the ground around the feline. He couldn't see Luxio, but he heard her let out a loud yowl in pain. He saw, out of the corner of his eyes, the others racing from where they were towards the Rhydon, but before they were within fighting distance the rocks around Luxio burst with a bright light.

The newly evolved Luxray stalked forward, fur disheveled and a cut over her eye making ruby red blood drip down her face, and with a loud roar she released a point blank stream of a Hyper Beam into the face of the Rhydon. Luxray kept up the stream as long as she could and it was just long enough since the Rhydon was unconscious when she stopped the move. Luxray let out a chuff and shook out her fur as Ash approached her. He laid his hand on her heaving side and side stepped her whipping tail.

"Oh sweetheart," Ash said as he took in her new form and the nasty gash on her forehead, "Let's get that cleaned up. Tyrantrum can you take the Rhydon away from our camp? Gently."

The large dinosaur let out a rumble from his chest before picking up the unconscious Rhydon in his teeth, being careful to not puncture the thick hide with his sharp teeth before he lumbered away. Ash mentally made a note to get Tyrantrum an extra large slab of his favorite meat as a thank you as he dug through his bag for his med kit. He carefully cleaned the wound, although the cleaning solution he was using stung Luxray enough to make her hiss, before spraying a strong potion onto it and bandaging it.

"There you go," Ash said before giving her a soft kiss on her nose, "congrats on evolving Luxray!" Ash smiled widely as Luxray leaned into his hands as he cradled her head between them. At the rate they were going they were going to be more than prepared for the League.

He hoped.

"Ash."

Ash, who had returned home for a few days, turned towards the voice and saw someone he hadn't seen in a long time just standing in the doorway like he had always been there. Ash, as embarrassed as he was sure to be later, couldn't help the rush of tears that entered his eyes, making Pauls' figure blurry. He blinked a few times to clear his vision as he dropped the items in his arms and ran at Paul.

As he neared the taller teen he jumped and wrapped his arms around Pauls' neck. Thankfully Paul caught him, and he let out a sigh as he felt strong arms wrap around his waist. He tightened his hold on Paul as he felt the larger teen move away from the doorway and to his bed. He felt Paul sit down on his bed, having his face buried into Pauls' neck made it hard to see what he was doing but Ash didn't care. Paul was here.

He didn't care that he was straddling Paul or that Pauls' hands cupped his sides. Ash didn't know how long they stayed like this, but eventually he lifted his head up to look at Paul.

"There you are," Paul said with a smirk gracing his lips, "I was beginning to wonder if I would be seeing those pretty eyes of yours."

"It's been too long," Ash said as he failed to hide his blush, "I wanted my hug."

"I missed having you in my arms," Paul admitted as he leaned forward and gave Ash a soft kiss on his cheek, "the phone calls, texts, and video chats were not enough."

"They really weren't," Ash agreed as he leaned forward and kissed Paul. He let out a soft sigh as he felt Pauls' warm lips against his own and how Paul tightened his grip around his waist. He let his eyes closed as Paul began to slowly move his lips against his, and he joined in the dance. Ash moved his arms back from where they were wrapped around Pauls' neck back so they were between him and Pauls' body. He reached up, from where he stopped his hands at Pauls' collarbone, to cup his jawline.

He felt Paul maneuver their bodies, but he didn't really pay attention to where they ended up. He was focused on Pauls' lips and how his body felt against his own. He was focused on not being loud since his mother and cousin were downstairs.

"Paul," Ash whispered once his boyfriend pulled back enough to let them both get blissful lungfuls of air. His lips tingled and he felt a shiver run through his body as he looked up at Paul. The larger teen was kneeling between his legs, which caused a flare of heated arousal to fill his body. He never realized just how much he liked that Paul was larger than him then in that moment.

"How far, baby?" Paul asked and Ash couldn't help the way his body shivered at the sound of his voice.

"N-Not all the way," Ash managed to get out, "but more. Please."

Ash let out a small groan as Paul nodded and leaned down to kiss him once more. His breath hitched and he gripped his bedding under him as he felt Paul grind against his hardened cock with his own. A jolt of pleasure rushing through his body made him whimper against Pauls' mouth as Paul began to move his hips against his own. Ash reached up with his other hand, the one not holding on for dear life to the blankets, to grasp at Pauls' side that had become bare as his shirt lifted up a bit.

Ash bit his lip and arched his back slightly when Paul pulled back from their kiss to trail kisses down his neck. He groaned out Pauls' name as he felt his boyfriends' teeth against the sensitive skin on his neck. He was forced to wrap his legs around Pauls' waist tighter to keep Paul in place when his boyfriend began to move down his body, but he wasn't able to keep them in place and groaned in frustration when the friction was gone.

"Can I?" he heard Paul ask, and not noticing when he had closed his eyes forced them open to see Paul messing with the hem of his shirt.

"Yes," Ash consented and nodded to emphasize his permission. He took in a deep breath as he felt cool air touch his heated skin when Paul pushed up his shirt until his nipples were exposed. He felt his muscles twitch as warm kisses were placed on his skin and Ash managed to keep his noises down as Paul gave him this pleasure, but once Paul made it to his chest it was all over.

"Ah!" Ash cried out louder than he wanted to as his hardened nipple was taken into Pauls' warm wet mouth. It felt as though he had been electrified and there was a direct line of pleasure from his nipples to his cock. Ash abandoned his hold of the bed to move it to Pauls' hair just as the larger teen bit down on his nipple.

"Paul!" Ash gasped out and arched into the mouth. He heard and felt Paul hum before he moved to the other nipple exposing his pleasurably abused nipple to the cool air. Ash felt Pauls' hands move down his body to cup his leaking cock from the outside of his pants. Ash didn't know if he could last much longer. This was his first time doing anything like this with another person and it was so much more than he thought it could be.

Ash took a deep breath as Paul left his nipples to kiss up his neck again. He tilted his head up to give Paul more room as his boyfriend gently ground his palm against his cock making him groan and thrust into it.

"Are you going to cum for me baby?" he heard Paul ask in his ear and Ash couldn't help the shiver as he first heard Pauls' voice filled with arousal. It was deeper and more gravely than his normal voice.

"Close," Ash whispered as he looked up at Paul. Paul nodded as he moved his hand faster against his cloth covered cock. Ash groaned and buried his face in Pauls' neck as he began to feel the tell tale signs that he was about to cum. He panted against heated skin as his body tensed up and his cock throbbed almost painfully in need.

"You're doing so good," he heard Paul say above him, "you're going to come for me like a good boy, aren't you?"

Ash let out a heedy whine just as his body decided to release the tension it was building this entire time. His eyes rolled back and he felt Paul cover his mouth with his hand as a high pitched ringing filled his ears. He panted softly as he started to come down from his high.

"Holy-." Ash began to say before he cut himself off. His body was still thrumming with leftover pleasure as he turned to look at Paul. His boyfriend didn't look all that much fazed about what had just happened, but Ash could see the arousal in his eyes.

"Wh-What about you?" Ash asked as he licked his lips. He saw Pauls' eyes dart down to his mouth for a brief second before they moved back up to meet his own eyes.

"I'm good," Paul said, "I can deal with it later. I don't think we're ready for what I really want to do with you."

Ashs' eyes widened and his face flushed a dark red from the implication. What they just did was fantastic, of course, but yes he wasn't ready to go all the way with Paul. Not just yet. Ash nodded, even though he wanted to help Paul just like his boyfriend did to him, but respected what Paul said about dealing with it later. He winced at the now cold cum in his underwear and slowly got up and shaky, tingly legs to get cleaned up and changed.

Once he was finished he curled back onto his bed next to Paul, now tired after what they had done, and asked if Paul would take a nap with him. He didn't hear what Paul said as his eyes fell closed and he fell asleep, but he did feel the soft kiss his boyfriend placed on his head just before he fully fell under.

"He did what?"

Ash looked up at Paul, after he had told him what Gary had done, as he didn't want to keep anything away from him. He could see anger in Pauls' face and body language and he couldn't help but tighten his hold on Larvesta. They had come to the pastures after Ash had woken up to let their pokémon mingle and to just get out of the house.

"Gary tried to blackmail me into being his boyfriend by telling my mother that you were an abusive neanderthal and beating me," Ash repeated, "but! Oak is taking care of it!"

Ash watched Paul for a moment hoping that his words would be enough for Paul not to do anything, but he was wrong. His face drained of color as Paul turned on his heel and walked towards the building he knew Gary was in. Oak had told Ash just the other day that Gary was doing manual labor around the pastures as well as taking a few courses about sexual abuse and helping out at a shelter. Ash had asked if Oak would put Gary through therapy, because it was obvious that he needed help, and Oak said that as soon as he found someone to take Gary that he would be going.

Ash quickly, and carefully, placed Larvesta on the ground next to Charizard before running after Paul. He yelled his name a few times, but was ignored. He flinched as the door to one of the field storage houses was slammed open by Paul and just as he crossed the threshold he heard the sound of skin hitting skin and then a hard thud. Ash gasped and held back a wince as he saw Gary on the ground in front of Paul, nose, mouth, and chin covered in a thick layer of blood as it gushed out of his broken nose.

"If you dare even look at Ash again," Paul growled out, "then this will be so much worse for you."

Ash didn't take his eyes off Gary, who had slowly sat up and spit a thick glob of spit and blood onto the concrete, as Paul picked him up. He took a deep breath as he was thrown over Pauls' shoulder, and while he would have normally thought that this, the manhandling Paul was doing to him, would be arousing, he was just shocked at how hard Paul had punched Gary. It was sad, but he couldn't even dredge up a lick of sympathy for Gary.

"Why?" Ash asked as he was placed down beside his pokémon.

"Because," Paul said, "he tried to hurt someone precious to me. I don't retaliate with words for people like him. Instead they get my fist to their face. People like him won't learn with words, and soft retaliation. Now if he thinks about doing something like this again to you then he knows I'm here to defend you and with me here means pain for him. Damn narcissist."

Ash nodded slowly and sat down. He was glad that Paul was ready to defend him, not that he was a damsel in distress or anything, but he didn't want this to come back and bite Paul in the butt. He opened his arms for Larvesta once more when the baby fire moth crawled his way to Ash. He stayed silent as he tried to sort out exactly what he was feeling while Paul moved to start training his pokémon.

He watched as Pauls' newly evolved Vaporeon shot a Hydro Pump at the Magmortar and dodged a Magical Leaf from Pauls' starter, Torterra. Their training styles were very different and Ash enjoyed seeing the way they were. He learned more about how he could help his pokémon become stronger. He mostly watched them to distract himself for the time being. Sorting out his feelings was more complicated thanks to him being able to use Aura. It was hard at times to differentiate between his own emotions and another being's emotions.

He would deal with them later. As he usually does.

"Are you both ready?" Delia asked as she closed the last packed lunch she made for both her son and Paul. Ash watched as she placed the packed food into another bag, one that was already bulging and was dreading having to carry a bag that heavy.

"As ready as we can be," Ash said as Pikachu let out a squeak in agreement, "We have to arrive a few days before the actual ceremony to get all the required paperwork and such done and filed. They'll get us a room to settle into and then we can do whatever until the day of the ceremony. Unless you're one of the few that have rolls to play in it."

Thankfully Ash and Paul weren't part of that. When they got there and finished their paperwork they were able to hang out and do whatever they wanted until the Opening Ceremony. They could train their pokémon or use the amenities the hotel they were staying in were providing. Ash had been trying to plan around Leafeon and Gardevoirs' gap in the team build, but he had been having a hard time. The type hole they left in the roster had been glaring at him, and had made him think about getting another Psychic and Grass type just in case something like this happened in the future.

"Oh alright," Delia said as she closed the bag, "Well, I'll be watching on the tv and have tickets for the last day."

"You don't even know if we'll make it that far," Ash said with a small smile, "there are plenty of stronger and smarter trainers than us that could beat us in a blink of an eye."

Delia turned to look at her son with a small smile on her face. "I have all faith in you and Paul," she said softly, "I've seen the both of you training. Believe in yourselves and in your pokémon and you'll go far."

Ash smiled wider as he felt the conviction his mother had for them and nodded. Of course he believed in his pokémon, and he hoped they had the same faith in him. A soft clattering of noise from behind him made him turn around to see Silver walking into the room. His cousin, since coming to live with them, had become less guarded and was speaking with them, but he did confess that speaking was hard for him sometimes. Ash had mentioned KSL, Kantonian Sign Language, the other day and his cousin lit up in excitement. So now they were both learning it, along with his mother.

"Can I watch too?" Silver asked softly as he looked between Ash and Delia.

"Of course you can!" Delia said happily, "If you don't mind, Samuel will be joining us during showing times, and I'll be making some snacks we can enjoy during it."

"Ice cream mochi?" Ash heard Silver ask and he couldn't help the smile that appeared on his face. Ever since he had introduced Silver to his favorite dessert it had become Silvers' favorite as well.

"Of course!" Delia replied as she slid the bag towards Ash and with a sigh he reached for the bag only to stop when a larger hand reached past him to grab the strap. He looked up and saw Paul behind him with a smirk on his face.

"When did you get here?!" Ash asked as he turned fully and wrapped his arms around Pauls' waist. His boyfriend had left early that morning to take care of something, but promised to be back before noon, when Ash planned to leave.

"A few moments ago," was Pauls' answer as he lifted the bag, as if it weighed nothing to him, onto his shoulder.

"Ready to get our pokémon?" Paul asked after he thanked Delia for the food.

"Ready!" Ash replied with a nod and after a quick hug goodbye to his mother and a smile to Silver, who was still a bit iffy about touching, he followed Paul out of the house. The walk to the pastures was filled with them talking about what route they were taking and about the stops they were taking, weather permitting, until they got to the Victory Road Tunnel. That was the last leg of the journey before they made it to the League. After exiting, the email they got said that there would be a Ranger with a vehicle ready to drive them, the trainers at least, the rest of the way.

Once they were at the pastures, and having said hello and goodbye to Oak, Ash recalled the twelve pokémon he was able to take, leaving Larvesta, Snom, Gardevoir, and Leafeon to stay with his mother since Oak had given the all clear with Nidoking, Krookodile, and Zoroark just yesterday. Paul had grabbed his pokémon and followed Ash out of Pallet Town. It would take them about a week to get just to the tunnel in Victory Road, and then it would be another week actually getting through the tunnel.

"Ready to finish this chapter on this part of our journey?" Paul asked as they passed the town marker signaling that they were now on Route 1. Ash took a deep breath as he looked back to his hometown. His eyes trailed over the trees and buildings, roamed over nesting Pidgeys on roof tops, and glistened as he took in the crashing water at the edge of the town.

It didn't seem all that long ago that he took his first step out of the town to begin his journey. Getting Pikachu and earning his trust, catching Nidoran all that time ago, fighting a Gyarados with Pikachu, finding Horsea. Earning the gym badges, and finding all of his pokémon one by one. Watched as they grew and got stronger and protected and loved each other. He even remembered the hard and rough times they had gone through since they taught him and helped him grow to the person he was today.

Then he turned to Paul, who was waiting for his answer, and took his hand in his own. Paul, the person that stood by him either physically or was just a call or text away and ready to help him when he needed it, was one of the best things to have happened to him. So, was he ready to close this chapter and move on?

"Yes," Ash said as he nodded and began to walk forward, "I'm ready."
