Lincoln felt broken. Akimi sought to help him rebuild through training, but this did not go as he had planned. He released all his emotions, but then, they were gone again. When she saw him, she saw a drone that she was 'programming', not teaching. She didn't want this for him, she wanted to feel human again, otherwise there would be no honor in the path vengeance she would help to set him on. And while Akimi was not the perfect woman, she had to try and be like family to him.
Akimi:"Lincoln..."
The boy perked his head up.
Akimi:"I think I've kept you in this house for a little too long. I plan on going to the park today. Would you like to come with?"
Lincoln said nothing, but instead nodded his head as he got himself dressed in his usual attire and later on, he and Akimi headed toward Tokyo. The city had some of the Beautiful Gardens and Parks the people can visit, offering peace of mind and tranquility by the scenery. Akimi believed that just what the boy needed. They sat by a pond surrounded by flowers and Akimi wished for Lincoln to gain his emotions again. Unfortunately, the result was bleak.
Lincoln:"...I did this..."
Akimi:"Hmm?"
Lincoln:"They died, because of me."
Akimi:"Lincoln...you are not to blame for the death of your family...I am. I should've never brought you here, allowed you to pilot the mech. And because of what I've done, you family was targeted and McCoy was behind everything."
Lincoln stayed silent as he let his tears fall from his eyes. He wanted nothing more than to have his family back. But instead, he was stuck with unwanted publicity as people began to notice the famous scientist and kid pilot who stopped two Kaiju already. People began to gather and even take pictures as reporters came bursting in with some questions.
"あなたはそこにいる、男の子!あなたは本当に長巻メカのパイロットですか?"
"少年はどうやってそんなに大きな機械を操縦できるのでしょうか?"
"長巻さん。ばかじゃないの?!男の子にあなたのメカを操縦させますか?!"
"数週間前に空港で家族を失ったことについてどう思いますか?"
Seeing that Lincoln didn't want any of this, Akimi got all the reporters to be off as she practically drew her sword at them.
Akimi:"バックオフ、あなたは嫌いな人!私たちが平和の瞬間を必要としているのがわかりませんか?!"
And with that, the group began to disperse, rather panicking-ly as Akimi puts her sword back and takes a deep breath.
Akimi:"Sorry about that, Lincoln. You are kinda famous now for that deeds that you've done before."
Lincoln:"I don't even want to be famous, and none of this is fun anymore. I mean, why Kaiju even exist?!"
Akimi:"(sighs) Lincoln...the Kaiju have existed for decades, either living below the surface or at uncharted places. They see humans as either parasites or subjects that they can play with...or destroy. And because of how destructive they can be, people such as myself have made it our responsibility defend humanity against them."
Lincoln's head drooped down after getting that answer.
Akimi:"This doesn't have to be your responsibility, Lincoln. You can still back down and I can give you a normal life."
Lincoln:"...No, Akimi. Not after what has happened, I'm not backing down."
That made Akimi feel torn. On the bright side, she's gotten a more competent pilot to work with, might even consider him the best. But aside from that, she doesn't really put a burden such as this on a child. They didn't have much time to think about it as suddenly, the ground started to shake...
At an undisclosed location, where in a giant hanger, that maniac McCoy was admiring his new machine in the making, his very own personal mech to rival Akimi's. While it was taking some time to build, it was worth the wait. He could only hope that Akimi's robot got trashed by an upcoming Kaiju which his mysterious benefactors are more than welcome to unleash at their disposal, all to make McCoy look like a hero. A monitor showed that a Kaiju was surfacing from the ocean and given its crustaceous form and giant claws, it was a type of Ganimes Kaiju.
McCoy:"So you're sure that this thing is going to trash Akimi's machine?"
?:"There's a possibility with that young prodigy of hers still moping over his family's demise."
McCoy:"Well, I know I'm gonna enjoy this. And how long before (points to his mech) this baby is complete."
?:"Give it a day's work and she'll be up and running for you to become a hero."
That sounded good to the psycho pilot. And while he waited for that, he could sit back and enjoy the show.
Seeing the Ganimes coming towards the city made Akimi quickly call on her mech to take action. As it landed right next time, Akimi had a face of determination.
Akimi:"We can't let that thing reach the city. Are you read, Lincoln...Lincoln?"
Looking down at the boy, she could see an face of distraught on him. No doubt was he suffering flashbacks from his family's death. But that quickly turned to a face of anger as he walked up the robot.
Lincoln:"...Yeah...let's do this."
She would be lying if she said she wasn't concerned for the way Lincoln was acting, fearing his emotions would effect the way acts in battle. But Akimi couldn't help that right now as they both entered the mech. Seeing the mech coming for it, the Ganimes let out a earsplitting shriek as it digs its claws into the side of a building. As the two giant charged at each other, the mech was the one to grab hold of the Kaiju as if it were grabbing it by the throat and boasted upwards before slamming the giant crab to the ground. Then, the mech's sword was deployed but Akimi didn't authorize it.
Akimi:"Lincoln, wait!"
Lincoln:"NO."
And that's when the mech effortlessly cut a claw off of the Ganimes, but it used its free hand to grab it and shove it the claw right into its face.
Meanwhile, McCoy groaned in frustration as he saw the Akimi's mech effortlessly mutilate the crab Kaiju. But what widened his eyes was seeing the robot continue to rip the already dead Kaiju apart.
Akimi:"Lincoln...Lincoln!"
Her calls were turned to deaf ears as Lincoln continued to stab the monstrous crab with its own claw. He was really taking his anger out on the dead monster as Akimi had no choice but to extract control from him and fly the mech out of there. Retreating back to the hanger, both Akimi and Lincoln exited the robot, but not before Lincoln ran off, not wanting to hear whatever Akimi had to say about what he did.
Akimi:"Lincoln, wait."
He headed back to his room and locked the door behind him. He cried into a pillow, ashamed of himself and his actions. Not even tearing a giant monster apart would be enough to sooth the pain he felt inside. Just about to cry himself too sleep, he heard the door being unlocked and opened to reveal Akimi standing there, looking as saddened as he was. Without a word, she went over and sat at his bed, putting her hand at his back as a sign of showing comfort.
Akimi:"...I know I can't offer you much, Lincoln, and I know you deeply miss your family. You may not be able to bring them back...but you can still say goodbye to them."
Lincoln looked up at her with watery eyes, wondering what she meant by that."
Akimi:"On Friday, we'll be holding a funeral in honor of your family. My decision, I thought it would be best for you to find peace of mind and condolences from all those who share the same burden as you and I."
Lincoln:"...I'm sorry for how I acted today, Akimi. And I thank you for all that you've done. I just wish I could repay you."
Akimi:"You can...be building yourself up again. I know it has not been easy, but you are not alone."
As the scientist pulled the white-haired boy into a hug, Lincoln continued to think about his family. The last thing they did was fight, and he wants nothing more to have them back.
?:"How is she developing so fast?"
?:"I don't know. She's just a baby, but her body is taking well to the mutations."
?:"Well make sure she stays in control. Otherwise, we'll have an out of control Kaiju way ahead of schedule."
Lily could hear what they were saying outside the giant container they had her stored in. She could feel all these tubes connected to her and some new parts of her body come to life, like how she first experienced in her mother's womb. It was...painful, and she wanted out. That's when things started to go red, and she could feel her world get small while she got bigger and changed into something...more monstrous. She wanted her brother, and she was determined to get him as the sound of glass breaking and...people screaming filled her evolved ears...
