Daisy's P.O.V

Blue had come up with the idea that if we wanted to get out this whole mess with everyone, than we needed to have any flying types on hand and also heavy hitters out in the open to prevent any of those infected humans and Pokemon from entering… which would unfortunately leave us with a slight disadvantage should we come in contact with any… hopefully we won't though

"I sure hope no infected Pokemon are roaming around here or else it'll be hard to escape" Dawn commented from in front of me as if she read my mind

Blue turned around from in front of both of us and glared at the blunette "Don't go jinxing us! We need this whole plan to go off without any problems or else we can all say bye bye to the life we know" he harshly whispered to her as Dawn realized her mistake and nodded slowly

"Don't worry Dawn; Blue's just worried is all. We've never had to face something like this before and if we want this to work, we all need to think positively and hope that all of us with make it out"

We slowly and carefully made our way deeper into the rubble that was formerly a Pokemon lab. I still couldn't believe this had all just happened only a few of minutes ago. If only I had been faster and not shocked with what grandpa had said we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with

"Not good" Blue suddenly said as I looked up at him and saw why. In front of us was a huge chunk of debris from the lab and unfortunately both Blue and Dawn had sent their strong Pokemon who could help us out in this case to help in the fight outside… not to mention the Pokemon from the lab who could have also helped had been transferred over to Professor Sycamore in the Kalos region

'If we don't hurry up than none of us will make it out alive at this rate… not to mention our Pokemon must be reaching their limits by now too'

"We'll never find Professor Oak, Delia or Tracy if we can't get through that pile" Dawn sighed as she dropped to her knees in defeat

"I'm not going to give up… If we can't find a path to get through, we'll just make our own path instead" Blue seriously said and walked up towards the chunks of rubble and got to work at trying to make an opening for us to pass through. Both me and Dawn share a glance at one another, until we also got to work helping out Blue

Suddenly I heard a voice, faintly of course, but I recognized that voice anywhere "Blue! Dawn! I can hear them! They're through here!" I told them excitedly and sighed in relief at knowing they were alright

Blue moved over towards my spot as soon as I told them the news and soon enough heard our grandfather's voice 'Is anyone out there?'

"Grandpa! It's me; Blue! I got Daisy with me and a trainer called Dawn over here! Don't worry, we'll have you and the others out in no time" he seriously said and started working faster than before

Soon we finally made a path big enough to fit our size and wasted no time in crossing over to the other size. Once we all made our way through, we all took off in a sprint as grandpa kept talking so we knew where it was we needed to go

Finally after what felt like an eternity, we saw grandpa holding up an injured Delia and an unconscious Tracy at their feet. I froze on the spot at seeing them all and after a brief hesitation ran over towards grandpa, while Dawn grabbed a hold of Delia to help out with her wound

Blue slowly came up towards grandpa as he gave him a small smile, but I could see the nervousness surrounding him. I wondered what could be the cause of him being nervous though. Our plan was a success and everything with little to no problem

Dawn rubbed her neck nervously at something Delia had asked "Well the thing is… we needed a distraction plan and made our Pokemon be bait for the infected. So while we would be down here searching for the three of you, our Pokemon would be outside fighting against the infected so they wouldn't be able to follow after us"

Both Delia and grandpa looked surprised once they heard our plan and soon their expression turned to that of anger instead. Both of the adults (but mostly grandpa) started to shout at us for putting our Pokemon at risk like that and how we should be ashamed at our actions

Although harsh, I can understand why it was they said all that and looking back at the plan… we could've probably have come up with a better one, were it not for the fact that Blue made the plan on the spot and because we were afraid that if we took too long coming up with one, than grandpa, Delia and Tracy would have all been turned into zombies as well

However after yelling at us for 3 minutes, grandpa did express his relief at knowing we were all safe and sound. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay much longer as the ground could be felt shaking. None of us needed to be told what to do as we made our way back outside and into the open… only to see a horrible sight before us

The Pokemon we had left outside was reduced to that of half our numbers and many of the people who had been fighting before were either ripped to shreds or would soon become part of the infected group

Blue was seen recalling his three surviving Pokemon back into their pokeballs, while looking at his two dead Pokemon with eyes shut tight and clenched fists at the sight of having to see Pokemon he both raised and cared for now dead and would either stay that way or become a part of the infected

Dawn on the other hand, was seen with tears in her eyes at seeing two of her Pokemon all bloody and dead looking. She turned towards her remaining three and hugged them all tightly as she apologized at putting them through this and hoped they never had to go through something like that again

I felt horrible at what Blue and Dawn had just suffered since I hadn't send out my Pokemon into battle due to them being trained for more of Contests and healing. If I had known this would be the outcome of the raging battle above while we were planning a rescue attempt, I would've fought with Blue against the idea of leaving them behind as we had done

As much as Dawn and Blue both deserved to mourn for their fallen Pokemon, that wouldn't seem to be part fates plan for us today as suddenly the dead humans and Pokemon slowly started to change to that of the infected. I watched in horror at how even some of the people who were missing limbs were also starting to morph into those hideous monsters

Grandpa turned to look at the incoming infected group of Pokemon and humans as he turned to face all of us as he held a serious expression on his face "You all need to leave now while you have the chance. One of us will need to stay here and fight them off if you are all to escape unharmed"

I froze in place as soon as I heard him say what he just said 'Is he… does he really think we'll leave him behind after we just got him back!'

"No grandpa! You can't just give yourself up like this!" Blue cried out

Delia too held shocked expression on her face as she held onto Tracy's form and who could blame her really. Grandpa is here saying he's going to sacrifice himself just for us…

I shook my head in denial "No! Blue made sure his plan would leave no one behind and I agreed with him so… why must you stay?"

Grandpa looked at me and Blue both with a warm sad smile on his face "Even if I don't agree with the plan you all made. I have to say that as much as it was cleverly executed; sometimes there are things we cannot predict will happen. I know this isn't what any of us would have liked to happen… but I guess this is where my journey ends. If my life is to be sacrificed than I want it to be because so you can all be safely out of harm's way" he said and threw out a pokeball as a familiar dragon type appeared

Dragonite grabbed a hold of Tracy from Delia and bend down so we could all get on. All of us stood there in place as we didn't know what to do. Grandpa sighed and slowly pushed us onto his dragon type and as much as I wanted to resist… I found myself unable to move any of my body parts. Heck, I saw grandpa knock out Blue, who was struggling to get out of his grip

Delia was the last person grandpa helped onto Dragonite and gave her a pokeball "You're Mr. Mime, I almost forgot to give him back… and Delia, if you see Ash… tell him I kept my promise. Daisy, take care of yourself, Blue and also Gary… tell Gary that I love him and that I'm sorry I couldn't say goodbye" was his last words as Dragonite was up in the sky soon after

I could only stare at the now infected town I had grown up in and also the last place I would ever see my grandpa as well as he let out his Charizard and a Raichu to combat against the mob coming towards him

I couldn't help but think about how I thought for sure this plan of Blue's was going to work… so how is it we ended up losing instead…

Meanwhile at Indigo Plateau

Lance and the Kanto Elite Four could all once stare with devastation present on their expressions. They had failed at protecting the region they had all sworn to protect from harm. How could they have allowed this to happen in the first place… they had locked down Cerulean City after finding out that is where the virus originated from… but somehow that wasn't enough as it slowly started spreading towards the other cities in Kanto and unfortunately Johto would be next in line

"We need to help with the survivors Lance… many people have been able to escape the clutches of becoming infected" Lorelei said with her arms crossed and looking at the camera which showed people who were running for their lives

"As much as this pains me to say… only you three will be leaving here and helping out in the evacuation"

Bruno and Agatha both looked shocked at the declaration from their champion "What do you mean only us four! What about you?" Lorelei angrily asked

Lance turned to look at the three people who he had grown close to and sent them a small smile "One of us needs to remain here and fend off the infected so everyone can escape"

The elites all started shaking their heads "No Lance. You're only one person against an army… you need us more than the people out there. We'll still be helping them escape either way and perhaps take down more infected if we're all spread out" Agatha stated as the first to agree was Bruno, followed by Lorelei after a moment to think the plan over

All three turn towards Lance with a serious expression on their faces as the champion of Kanto and also Elite Four member sighed in defeat and finally agreed with the plan laid out

Mount Silver

Leaf started in horror at the news report currently being played on by her Rotom Phone that she got when she went to Galar for a short trip before this whole crisis began. Red stood next to her with a devastated expression and soon left her side

She looked at him, tuning out the words from the frantic news lady as he stared at the once peaceful scenery from the frozen mountain, only to see destruction and pain instead. He sighed and turned to look at her with a serious face

"We need to get out of Kanto"

"… I know… but what about Blue?" she asked and saw Red clench his fist tightly

"We'll have to hope he got out of Pallet Town alright… as much as I want to look for him, I know he'd want us to get to safely… even if it meant risking his life for ours"

Leaf looked to the ground sadly at that, but soon shook her head. Red was right, if Blue is in fact no longer with them anymore, he'd want them to get out to fight another day… hopefully wherever they went, they'll be able to be more help than they were in their own home region

And the Kanto Arc for this story is finally at an end. When I was writing this chapter, I knew I was going to kill of an important character from the anime again... however I wanted the character who would die to have an impact on the others and had to unfortunately be Professor Oak. Sorry to all you Oak fans for doing this to him... but I needed to add a sacrifice and once I set the last chapters in Pallet Town, the choice was oblivious. Also sorry for the Leaf and Red part being kinda plain and boring, just didn't want to leave them both without including them in some way here
Next chapter will feature a few new characters and what they've been doing, what happened to the surviving people from Kanto and lastly the return of Ash and Gou probably too
Also on the side note, when I wrote this story and said 'the virus has been going around for a year' in the prologue chapter... I didn't actually think that we would still have COVID-19 after a year of it as well :(
