Back in Royal Woods, School seemed different without one of the most noticeable kids hanging around. Nobody has Lincoln in about a month. They said he won some kind of award and had gone on vacation with his family, but they didn't think that he'd be gone this long. The day where Lincoln's friends, Rusty, Liam and Zach were hanging around at lunch, Clyde was sitting by himself, looking sad, so they decided to go see what was up with him.
Zach:"Hey Clyde, what's up with you? You've been quiet all week."
Rusty:"Still bummed about missing Lincoln?"
Clyde:"...It's worse than that. Lincoln told me he moved...to JAPAN!"
That outburst managed to gain the attention of everyone in the cafeteria. Now everybody was curious, as to what Lincoln did to gain a one-way trip to Japan.
Zach:"To Japan?!"
Clyde:"Yeah...not only that...he said he's family's...gone."
Liam:"Gone as in...'gone' gone?!"
Rusty:"No way..."
Clyde:"I know...I couldn't believe it myself."
Stella also came by when she couldn't help but overhear what they guys were talking about.
Stella:"Hey guys. Did I hear you say Lincoln moved to Japan?"
Rusty:"Apparently. And this feels bad. Lincoln practically held this gang together. What are we gonna do without him?"
Liam:"Well, why not just head over to Japan and ask him to come back."
Clyde:"Okay, Liam...And tell, where we gonna find plane tickets to Japan on such short notice?!"
Stella:"Clyde, calm down."
Clyde:"Sorry...without Lincoln, I'm already starting to feel a little...not like myself."
Zach:"Yeah, I kinda feel that way too. Lincoln did keep us from doing a lot of stupid stuff."
Stella:"Okay, guys...I'm not naming myself leader here, but if I were to help in getting the tickets to Japan, would you really go over there, just to see Lincoln?"
Guys:"(in sync) YES!"
Stella:"Then I'll take care of it. We will see him again, I promise you that."
Clyde:"Man...what I would give to see what he was doing right now."
Lincoln was in the backseat of a car as he adjusted a new uniform he was given. Since he was gonna stay with Akimi, it'd be best if he'd get put into a school since Akimi couldn't be there for him all the time. He wanted to be homeschooled since he didn't want anybody to treat him like he's special or out of pity, but Akimi insisted that this was the best course of action. She believe that it was any conciliation that she enrolled him into the same school she went to as a child. Lincoln accepted that as he was dropped off.
Akimi:"I'll be back to pick you up at around 3:00. Be on your best behavior, and you do remember the lessons we went through, right?"
Lincoln:"I do."
Akimi:"Alright then. Good luck, Lincoln."
Lincoln:"Thanks."
It didn't take long for Lincoln to see that he's become the center of attention. All ready, students were surrounding him in a circle, staring at him in awe as if he were some kind of superhero. But he didn't want this treatment, not here, not now. Of course, every school has its scum, and that's when a tan looking kid with short dark hair, and an inch taller than Lincoln came towards the white-haired boy with two other kids. Lincoln could already tell, just by looking at him, that this boy was equivalent to Chandler back home.
Bully:"A 外人 in our school. Now, I see everything."
Lincoln said nothing. In fact, he looked pretty emotionless.
Bully:"Not impressed I speak your tongue? Well, point is you don't belong here, so why you wear our colors?"
Lincoln:"I've been enrolled. So I belong here...友達."
Bully:"(scoffs) You call me friend? We not friends, 外人. Never be friends with you."
Lincoln was starting to feel a little agitated by this kid's need to show himself superior. He decided to catch everyone off guard by having this conversation in their language.
なぜ私を攻撃することに決めたのですか?(I've done nothing to offend you. Why do you decide to attack me?)"
The bully and the rest of the kids were shocked to see how Lincoln speaks Japanese so fluently. But the bully brought up his angry façade as he got up in Lincoln's face.
(I am not so impressed that you speak our language. It does not change the fact that you don't belong here.) Did you understand that?"
(Yes. But you don't care me. I've dealt with worse guys than you.)"
And with that, Lincoln bravely passes by the bully and heads for the door of the school. But not before the bully said one last thing.
Bully:"...あなたは私のような人を扱っていません。私の名前はタカシで、この学校のオーナーです。(...You've not dealt with someone like me. My name is Takashi and I own this school.)"
Lincoln:"…なんと言っても…アッシュ。(...Whatever you say...ash.)"
The Bully now known as Takashi glared at the white-haired foreigner headed inside the school. The other students were seemingly amazed by how Lincoln spoke their language and stood up for himself all at once. But that's not all they recognized Lincoln for.
"(That kid...he's the young pilot who works for Akimi Nagamaki)"
"(Are you serious?! That's him?!)"
"(I don't believe it.)"
"(He's...like a celebrity.)"
"(More like a hero.)"
Takashi couldn't believe it. He nearly messed with a hero to his city. He always wanted to know what it was like, controlling a giant robot, fighting monsters. Maybe that kid could help in achieving that dream. He just need to get on his good side. For the rest of the day, Lincoln became the talk of the school with how he was taking every class. Thanks to Akimi, he already knew about Japan, its culture and what to expect from the education process.
History Teacher:"そして日本海海戦でロシア艦隊を撃破した提督は・・・ミスター・リンカーン?(And during the Naval Battle of Sea of Japan, the Admiral who destroyed the Russian Fleet was...Mister Lincoln?)"
Lincoln:"(while writing) ... 東郷平八郎。(...Tōgō Heihachirō.)"
(Correct...again.)"
(This guy is really smart.)"
(Just open the book and read it yourself.)"
The class laughed at the one, but Lincoln stayed melancholy for most of the day. When lunch came around, Lincoln sat by himself as he didn't want to sit beside some gawking preteens. That bully from before even called him over.
Lincoln! Come here and sit with us!)"
But Lincoln stayed where he was and ate his lunch in silence. By the end of the day, he was basically the talk of the school of how he was so cool and heroic, but he didn't want to hear any of it. He just wanted to get away from there as soon as possible, but that didn't seem like it was gonna happen as Takashi came back, blocking the way off the schoolgrounds.
Takashi:"Look...Lincoln, right? I believe we got off...the wrong foot before. Why don't we start over."
Lincoln:"You're not fooling me, Ash."
Takashi:"Why do you keep calling me that?"
Lincoln:"It's what your name means. Any, you can't fool me into becoming your friend."
Takashi:"What you talking about?"
(You think...you can use me to get a closer look of the robot my friend works on. You're wasting your time.)"
Before Takashi could say something back, Lincoln's phone began to ring and he pulled it out to see that it was an alert from Akimi. A Kaiju was surfacing and he was needed fast.
Lincoln:"I need to go...どうか私に近づかないように。(Do yourself a favor and stay the hell away from me."
And with that, Lincoln took off. Seeing Akimi's car coming down the road, he ran by it and jumped in. Takashi was left there, wondering how he was gonna get to be friends with that kid...
Meanwhile, underwater, coming out of a sewer was light purple skinned creature, a mini-kaiju if you will. It broke free of the prison it was in and swam into the waters that surrounded japan. Swimming upward, its head broke the surface and looked around and saw the city of Tokyo nearby. Then, however, it felt the earth rumble and the waters rise as something else was surfacing. A huge Kaiju rose from the waters and was now heading towards the city. The smaller creature didn't know what to think about it, but there was something on her mind. That it needed to head back to city and find someone...she knew as family...
