2 days later, somewhere above the Sinnoh Region

"Red, are you sure we're not lost?" Leaf asked as she looked down at the various buildings from her Ditto who had transformed into a Pidgeot for her to ride on

Red looked over towards her and then back at the map they had gotten from Barbara. He looked down at the buildings and flipped the map the other way. He turned it to the right and frowned as he turned it to the left instead and sweat dropped at this as Leaf thought to herself 'Note to self; let me read the map next time…'

"Leaf…" he started saying only to see the brunette raise a hand with a sigh

"Let me guess… we are lost aren't we?" she asked and knew the answer when Red shifted uncomfortably and looked down "Well at least we know which region were in"

"Sinnoh… hopefully the virus won't spread or get here" Red said thinking back to that day and how their home region was no longer safe… heck when they passed Johto they were almost attacked by one of those infected Pokemon. Safe to say that Johto had started to get cases of these zombified humans and Pokemon unfortunately…

Leaf gave the raven haired teen a worried glance, but said nothing. What could she say? Nothing she could say will help either of them out. The only thing they could do is hope…

"Alright, I think I finally got this map reading stuff" Red suddenly said, shocking Leaf out of her thoughts as she looked at him "If I'm correct than we should be above Hearthome City. It's a large city and should be a good a place as any to land and stock up on supplies"

The brunette nodded "You're right; we are almost out of food and medical supplies. As much as I don't want to think of the possibility, we need to be ready in case this virus suddenly finds its way to Sinnoh"

"The only way I can think of that even happening is if they get through on boat or with a flying Pokemon" Red commented and both teens suddenly fell into silence as neither one said another word while they made their way down towards the big city

As much as they were happy to have gotten through the ordeal in Kanto… didn't make it any easier for them both to realize they were some of the lucky few to actually have survived. In fact it made them feel really guilty at times as they couldn't help but think; why did they live? What is it about them that they were able to get a free pass at becoming infected?

However no answers would present themselves as the teens finally reached their destination. It was true what people would say at times; surviving is the worst kind of pain… especially now

Meanwhile in the Johto Region, Blackthorn City

The young Hoenn trainer could do nothing but stare at the scene in front of him

So many infected humans and Pokemon alike were surrounding the area… it reminded him of when he was in Olivine City, except it was 100 times worst than that

Already many around him had fallen, and he wanted to help, do something… yet his body wouldn't listen to him at all and due to that he could only watch helplessly… like when his two Pokemon were infected due to his mistake. Hearing a noise, the teen knew he needed to like move!

Max rolled out of the way as a hyper beam was suddenly fired at the spot he had just been. He looked back to see Ethan, his rival Silver, and a couple other trainers all fight off the army trapping them in Blackthorn City… and if any of you are wondering, those who had flying types have either been infected or require some sort of medical attention…

"Are you going to stand there and do nothing or are you going to help?!" Silver angrily said, using the stick in his hand to attack any infected

"Hey lay of the kid would you Silver! He's also faced hardships through this whole ordeal too!" Ethan said, back to back with Typhlosion and a baseball he found lying around, held in his hands

Max, internally thanked the Johto Champion for defending him, but Silver was right. He couldn't just stand around like a dummy or let others do the fighting for him… he owed it to the Pokemon he had lost… Mightyena and Breloom, to continue fighting and not quit so easily!

With that thought in mind, he cast aside both his fear and quilt and took out a sling shot as he took aim. Whether this is his last stand or not, he plans on going down with a fight

Hoenn Region, Petalburg City

Blue sighed as he looked at the glass window revealing his Charizard and his grandfather's Dragonite; both Pokemon who were currently resting with various wires attached to them

He placed his hand on the window and looked down. Both Pokemon looking much better than when they had escaped Kanto… still they had used up much energy while crossing both Kanto and Johto with no time to stop and as such it would take a while for them to fully recover

Looking behind him, Blue saw Delia sitting at one of the many video phones available yet made no move to call anyone. Tracy on the other hand seemed to be sketching one of the many Pokemon here in the Pokemon center however he seemed to lack his usual spirit when sketching. And Daisy… well she seemed to be the worst affected of the group

The former gym leader made his way over towards his sister and noticed that she had been crying. It's been like a week since the death of Professor Oak, and it was still hitting the group hard. Blue had come to accept the choice his grandfather made and knew that if he were here with them, he would tell him to live, not worry about what could have happened or allow himself to be swallowed up in depression

"Daisy… you can't keep going on like this. Gramps wouldn't want you to-"

"What do you know what he would want of me, huh Blue? He gave himself up and died! Add on to the fact that we still have to tell Gary about how he didn't have a chance of saying goodbye to his grandfather since… since…"

Blue sighed, it seemed Daisy still had things she has left unsaid and it was starting to eat her up. He wished he could do more to help, but nothing could bring back the pain of a dead loved one… all he could do is make sure none of them die or else his grandfather's sacrifice would've been for nothing

It was going to take awhile before the group is ready to head back out. They might have escaped… but unfortunately they were all suffering from survivor's guilt

I finally updated again! Also sorry if its a bit short :( Anyway here we see what happened to the main survivors from Kanto (excluding OCs Dick and Barbara) and the hardships they are now facing as they deal with survivor guilt. Also the return of Max, Ethan and added character Silver were added since I wanted to continue with what Johto is going through and as you can see... its not going well. Next chapter has the return of more characters! P.S. I updated the cover of this story too! Took me 5 days, so hope you all like the new personalized cover ;)
