1 Month Later, Hoenn Region, Lilycove City
Serena, Shauna and Miette all stood in total silence with their backs pressed to the remaining columns in the now destroyed Lilycove City. Each girl held a different weapon on them; Serena held a broken metal rod, Shauna held a baseball bat and Miette tightly held onto nunchucks she found lying on the floor during the panic... which makes you wonder, who on earth had nunchucks on them in the first place?
"Are they gone yet?" Miette nervously asked, not daring to look behind the column as her answer came in that of a horrifying scream
"I think that should answer your question" Shauna commented dryly, but flinched at the crashing sound against glass in the background
"How did it even come to this? Kanto was supposed to be contained. No one said this would spread across regions!" Miette cried sliding down the column and hugging her knees in despair
Serena looked at her two friends and then back at her metal rod. It was hard to think just how bad this whole thing got. First Kanto, then Johto... It honestly shouldn't have surprised any of them when Hoenn first reported signs of infected a month ago
"Well clearly its spreading and fast. We need to stop whining and get outta here" Shauna stated about to leave the safety of their column... only to get grabbed by the Kalos blunette
"If we even think about going out there, what's the chance that we won't become one of them" Miette asked in clear distraught. Ever since Lilycove was hit by the infected, each of the Kalosian girl had changed from a result; Shauna was no longer her energetic self, Miette no longer thought high of herself and lost all her playfulness and lastly Serena barely talked since the incident where she lost Pancham, she only talked when needed and lost the spark she once held
"We can't stay here. The longer we stay the more likely we'll become their next targets. We need to get out while we still can. Either that or wait here patiently to become infected ourselves" Serena said in an emotionless tone
Seeing that both her rivals/friends agreed with not staying here, Miette sighed and agreed in the end as she could see the logic behind their reasons for leaving "Alright fine! But you two better have a plan of some kind to get us out of here"
Shauna nodded at this as she took out a pokeball and released her Floette, who looked pretty beaten up yet held a determined expression "Floette, I need you to do something for me. I need you to distract the infected so we can get onto a rooftop... I know this is asking a lot out of you, but whatever you do don't let yourself be bitten or caught. Use double team to throw them off your trail" the brunette explained as the Single Bloom Pokémon eyes widen, but nonetheless nodded with narrowed eyes
Miette seemed to get the idea as she released a Vaporeon and explained the same thing to her as the water Eeveelution nodded, not planning on having her trainer suffer at the hands of those infected as with that both Pokemon disappeared into the crowd of infected
Both girls then turned to Serena as she wordlessly threw a her own pokeball as none other than her Altaria appeared with a smile on her face. Seeing the sight before her, the Humming Pokémon dropped her happy appearance and took that of a determined one instead
While explaining to Altaria what it was she was going to have to do, Shauna and Miette were slowly inching away from the pillars and slowly into the shadows of the remaining buildings
"Why did you say we need to head onto a rooftop?" Miette asked, looking around for her Vaporeon or at least any signs of him
Serena was the one to answer as she caught up to the two girls "Think about it Miette! Most of the infected are ground based. If we're on the roofs, we would only have to worry about the flying based infected... which if you haven't noticed are much less and due to that we have a much better chance at survival" she seriously said, not noticing the look that crossed on Miette's face
"While Serena is right, we still need to be careful with the flying based infected. We have no idea what their stats are, if they changed in any way since becoming an infected. All we know so far is that we can't let them get near us, if they do and take a bit... we become a mindless zombie like them" Shauna added as the girls pressed their backs onto a wall after hearing a couple of footsteps
"This is nuts! Even with our Pokemon helping and creating a distraction, there is no way we can get onto the rooftop unscratched. Also, what do we do after we get up there? In case you haven't noticed, none of us have ever jumped across from rooftop to rooftop! This isn't some type of comic book, we're gonna be sitting ducks up there!" Miette angrily stated. She was getting tried of all this and wished she was back home... but with the way things were going, not even home would be safe after awhile
Shauna paused her walking and turned back towards Miette, her face showing that it seemed she hadn't thought of that and sighed as she made her way to the blunette and placed a hand on her shoulder "Look, I get it. You're scared, but so are me and Serena. Trust me when I say that we will get out of this together and in one piece"
"Nothing will happen to you Miette. I won't let you or Shauna become one of those infected... too many have already suffered, and I don't want to lose anyone close to me" Serena said trying her best not to think about the lose she had suffered... however an image of a panda like Pokemon getting bitten and ripped apart flashed in her mind
"Pancham!"
Miette looked from one girl to the other and had a small smile slowly appearing on her face "You're right! We're in this together till the end! No matter what happens... I'm glad to have you both as rivals and as friends"
With that said, keeping an eye for any infected roaming by, the three girls made there way towards and empty alleyway and to their relief it held a ladder... thought it looked slightly unstable, they wouldn't miss this opportunity of a chance
"Alright, Miette you go first, make sure to stay as near to the ground as you can once up there. Serena you'll go after her and I'll be lookout while the two of you climb" the brunette said, holding out her bat
Both coordinators nodded as Serena helped Miette up towards the ladder and waited for her to finish climbing. It was risky if they both went up at the same time and as such, Serena was content waiting than ending up on the ground like a pancake
Serena was halfway up when she heard Miette's scream. Looking down she saw as a group of infected was making their way over towards them fast "Shauna! Jump!"
"It's to risky! If we're both on at the same time, we could cause it to break!"
"I don't plan on leaving you down there, now jump and grab on!" Serena yelled, holding out a hand as the brunette cursed and placed the bat onto a makeshift shack and jumped. Both girls climbed up as fast as they could and just in time as both the ladder broke and the infected arrived
"That was close" Miette said somewhat in a shaky voice as their Pokemon returned, after having seen them get away safely
"We're going to have to be more careful from now on... we can't always rely on our Pokemon all the time to distract the infected or use each other as bait" Serena stated looking down at the roaming infected and watched as the few humans and Pokemon not lucky enough slowly turned into an infected themselves
However, what the girls didn't know was that one of them wasn't going to be making it out soon. It would be a shock, but for the time being she was going to do whatever it takes to make sure they get out of this nightmare
Sorry for the wait with this story everyone! A time jump, the return of Hoenn and the three Kalosian girls appear... but this trio of performers turned coordinators are in troubles of there own. All three have changed from the characters we all knew in the anime and who can blame them for this. I feel anyone would change if they experience something like this or loss someone important to them. Next chapter will feature another time jump and a look into the present time (so basically same time as the prologue)
