Sinnoh Region, Sunnyshore City
"Landing in Sinnoh was a mistake!" Leaf yelled as she and Red took cover underneath a table
"How was I supposed to know the situation was going to be like this!" Red yelled back as screaming could be heard from all around "Next time I'll call a head and ask! Oh wait, we don't have a freaking phone or know anyone in Sinnoh!"
"Don't you give me sarcasm! I told you we should have gone to Kalos, or even Ore!" Leaf angrily said, as Red grabbed her hand and pulled her under another table "This is getting out of hand! Where's the psycho who caused all this damage! I'm gonna give them a piece of my mind!"
"As much as I would love to see that happen, let's focus on surviving instead" Red said, flinching when he heard bones snapping near them "We need better cover"
Leaf nodded at that, wincing when pieces of glass hit her neck "Where would we go! Nothing stops them from attacking! I mean have you seen them, some are missing body parts and still keep walking"
"There's got to be a place where it'll be harder for them to reach us" Red mumbled looking at the map once again in his hands "Perhaps Mount Coronet might work"
Before Red could ask his companion, he heard a girl scream and to his shock saw Leaf wasn't beside him anymore "LEAF!" he cried, seeing drips of blood where she was last seen
The scream sounded again and Red could sorta make out Leaf's voice calling him. Wasting no time, the Kanto native raced after where her voice was coming from and looked in terror at the scene before him
Leaf was being held by a Garchomp, his pitch-black eyes staring into his brown eyes. It was clear, that this was all a trap... with Leaf acting as a hostage
"Red" she whispered with tears as Red didn't know what to do
He didn't want to risk Leaf being killed or worse become one of those. However, he knew that if he didn't do something soon, they'll both end up as something they each didn't want
Red looked into her eyes; determination and hate, both clearly in his gaze as Leaf's eyes widened, her tears stopping suddenly
'Why am I always the one in need of being saved! I hate the fact that I'm so useless! No! I won't let this be the end for me or Red! Fight! If I don't do something, I'll lose and end up dead or infected! Fight! Win and live! Now fight!'
With that said, Leaf narrowed her eyes and did something unexpected... feeling courage throughout herself, she suddenly elbowed the infected Garchomp, surprising him since he didn't expect that from the brunette. Seeing an opening, with whatever strength she had, Leaf twisted and grabbed the Garchomp's arm and flipped the Pokemon, causing him to let her go
However, her victory was short, as she suddenly tripped and found herself staring at the very angry infect Garchomp, clearly not happy that his victim had escaped from his hold. Leaf felt the courage she just had drain from her and she gripped her red skirt tightly
Seeing Leaf in danger, sparked something within the Kanto native. Red suddenly lunged forward, grabbing a makeshift spear that it seems someone had been in the process of making and without any hesitation... stabbed the former dragon type in the eyes. Pushing the infected onto the ground, Red sliced his head right off, decapitating the Pokemon and ending his life
Leaf looked at her friend, shocked at the brutality that he used. She had never seen this side of Red and although it shocked her... he had saved her, killing a Pokemon in the process because of her
"Are you alright?" he asked, snapping her out of her thoughts
"Hmm, yeah... thanks" she hesitantly said, rubbing her neck only to see blood on her hands as she recalled the glass that had scratched her before
Red seeing this, grabbed a couple of bandages glad for the abandoned medical equipment and a blue scarf. Slowly, he placed the bandages over her cuts and wrapped the blue scarf over her neck "That should help with both the bleeding and also hide those bandages. Is it comfortable?"
Reaching to touch the blue fabric, Leaf nodded "It's comfortable and warm... thank you"
"Come on, let's get out of here. We're lucky no other infected came during all this. We probably would have been goners or infected ourselves" he said, grabbing her arm as Leaf just stared at him, a light blush on her face 'Red...'
Johto Region, Sprout Tower
"I'm glad we were able to stop the infected from entering. Look at how many are out there" Max commented as he looked through the small hole available
"We should be glad there weren't any inside when we got here" Ethan said, counting the resources they and a couple other trainers had "We need to make a plan, we won't last more than 1 more day"
"Are you crazy! We can't go back out there! We'll get turned into one of them!" a female said, her pink hair sticking up and her appearance that of a person living on the street
Another trainer slapped her, surprising quite a few people while Ethan looked on with an emotionless expression "Would you rather die, Kira?!"
"If it means escaping this torture and situation, death sounds better!" Kira yelled back, not hesitating with her answer
It seems many agreed with her as quite a few started to nod in agreement at her comment while everyone else remained quiet, too scared to say anything
"So that's it? You're just giving up?" asked a soft male voice as everyone turned and saw a teenager with straight, medium length black hair and gray eyes. He wore a red cap and black ide-frame sunglasses. He had a blue zipped jacket with white stripes, blue skinny jeans, black ankle socks, and black short boots with blue laces
"And who are you supposed to be?" asked another trainer
"Calem Xavier"
"Alright Calem Xavier, what do you suggest we do? Clearly you seemed to think wanting to die isn't the answer, so what would you do?"
"I'd fight and cut down anyone in my way" he bluntly said, shocking everyone except for Ethan
Max could only stare with disbelief. Cut down... did he mean kill? The Hoenn native wasn't so sure how he felt about that. These people and Pokemon didn't ask for this... but wouldn't killing them also put an end to their misery?
Seems he wasn't the only one to be thinking this, since others voiced there opinions as well
"You can't be serious?!"
"I'm not about to become a murder!"
"Killing in cold blood is a no for me!"
"You sound like a villain!"
"If that's how you feel, then you'll always live in fear of the infected. You're nothing more than livestock to them, cattle if you want. I don't intend that for myself. I'd rather I fight then go down like a coward" Calem seriously said, making a few shrink in their seats
"Calem's right" Ethan spoke up, making everyone turn towards him "How many others are out their fighting for their lives and others. How many of you were saved by your friends, strangers, even Pokemon?! You can't let their sacrifice and death go in vain! They died so you could live to see another day! Is that how you're going to repay them all? By dying?!"
Silence followed as many looked down in shame at hearing Ethan's words and how they were true
"If we go down, then we go down fighting! Prove to them that they chose correctly in letting you live! We might only be few, but let's make it seem like there are 100 of us! Who's with me?!" Ethan shouted as after a moment; others shouted in agreement
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" everyone exclaimed the same thing, there confidence slowly returning
"You sure got them to agree with you" Calem commented as he stood beside Ethan, watching them all
"You just gotta know the right words"
Slowly everyone got ready, grabbing whatever they could to use as weapons. They would have used their Pokemon... if it weren't for the fact that only 3 or 4 out of the 20 trainers still had Pokemon with them. Everyone else had unfortunately lost their team to the infected or by them sacrificing themselves for their trainers
After about 30 minutes of preparing, everyone was armed and loaded with various manshift weapons
"Everyone, I hope that each and everyone us makes it out of here. I ask you to dedicate your hearts and fight for what you believe! I believe that this will soon be over and none of us will live in fear in anymore! Are you with me?!"
"For freedom!"
"Down with the infected!"
"We won't live in fear anymore!"
"Then prepare for this is our stand!" Ethan yelled out, as slowly two others started to open the door
"This is it" Max seriously said as with that, everyone charged outside and maybe even to their deaths
'Everyone is now fighting for their lives, whether it be hiding, killing or just being on the run. One thing is certain... what will become of the remaining population not yet infected' Ethan thought and jumped into battle himself
World crisis mini arc is now complete! Red and Leaf returned here! At first I was planning on doing Leaf x Blue, but then during this chapter I switched it Red x Leaf instead since I actually ship those two more. I was thinking about Attack on Titan while writing this and at the part where Red kills the infected Garchomp, that's heavily inspired by Eren saving Mikasa in episode 6 of season 1. On another note, we see Ethan, Max and also Calem in this one as well! Don't think I forgot about them. Everyone here in this chapter was forced to face their fears and fight! Fight!
