Back with another chapter for you amazing people! I want you to know that just because I am writing Preyna does NOT mean I don't like Percabeth. In fact, Percabeth is my favorite ship in the whole Riordanverse! Nico, the disclaimer, please.

Nico: Ugh. Fine. Bookish77 doesn't own me.

Me: I WISH!

Nico: Holy Hera, stop keeping these people waiting.

Me: Ok, onto the chapter!

Percy's POV

Reyna reminded Percy so much of Annabeth, it was ridiculous. They had the same set jaw. The same confident gleams in their eyes. The same aura of power that they radiated. And they were both beautiful. And then there was the fact that they both scolded him a lot. These were his thoughts, sitting in the mess hall next to Hazel and Frank that evening.

"Percy, you good?" Hazel asked him, waving her hand in front of his eyes.

Percy's head shot up. "Oh, sorry," he said.

"You just infinity stared at your burger for a minute there," Frank said.

"Yeah, I do that sometimes," Percy admitted. His head turned towards where Reyna was sitting alone. She looked anxious.

"Um, hold on guys," Percy said, standing up. "I'm going to go talk to Reyna."

He picked up his plate and walked over to where she was sitting. "Hey," he said silently, but loud enough that she could hear over the loud noises of the mess hall.

"Are you ok? I-I mean you look... worried," Percy said, setting his plate down next to her and taking a seat.

"I'm fine," Reyna said, a bit too rushed.

"You sure?" Percy flashed a small smile at her.

She tried to smile back but failed. "The truth is Percy, I'm stressed. Stressed over the greeks coming, and seeing Jason after so long."

Percy frowned. He wished she would get over Jason. He remembered when Reyna had told him privately about her crush on Jason, but how the feeling wasn't mutual. He had rejected her. Percy didn't know why he felt so strongly that he needed to protect Reyna; she could do a fine job of that on her own.

"Hey," Percy said. "I'm here for you. You know that right? You're not leading the whole legion anymore. Not like when Jason left you." He slightly emphasized the fact that Jason had abandoned her. "And I helped you with those documents today, too. Did I not do a good job on those?"

Reyna smiled. For real this time. "Yes, yes you did, actually. Signed like a novice praetor and everything." They laughed.

"I know something that will ease your spirits," Percy said. "Meet me at the Little Tiber at 12:00 a.m."

"Percy, you and I both know that that is past curfew," Reyna stated.

"Yeah, but you and I also know that we are both praetors, and curfew doesn't necessarily apply to us," Percy responded.

"Fine, but don't tell anyone what we're doing. I don't want anyone to find out either way."

Percy smiled. "You got it." And went to go find Frank and Hazel again.

Reyna's POV

Reyna sat on a sofa in her room, reading. she was currently wearing her white praetor toga over a Camp Jupiter tee shirt. The time was 11:35 p.m. Might as well get into something comfier, she thought. She kept the Camp Jupiter tee but put on some stretchy black leggings in place of her toga.

Finally, she was ready to head out. She quietly snuck out of her room and shut the door behind her.

When she passed the mess hall, she finally started to relax. Her braid swayed in time to her strides across the camp, making her way to the Little Tiber. She eventually started to hear the familiar rush of water.

When she reached the river, she saw that Percy was already there, sitting on the ground near the water, making little aqua whirlpools every now and then. She sat down next to him.

"I should've known you would choose here of all places to meet, being a son of Poseidon and all," Reyna said quietly.

"Well, that and the fact that the river is just calming to look at. And trust me. You need calm for once," Percy said. They sat in silence for a good couple minutes, watching the river flow past, with its strong, but mesmerizing current. Percy turned to face her. "How often do you think about him?"

"Think about who?" Reyna asked, meeting his sea-green eyes.

"About Jason," Percy said.

"Well, pretty often, seeing as how he was a former praetor of the legion we run. Why?" Reyna said thoughtfully.

"Well, I mean... romantically. Like, how you used to like him. I mean, still like him. I mean, I don't know," Percy said.

Reyna looked at him quizically. "What?" She asked. "I mean, I still care for him but..." She took a slow breath. "Why do you care?"

"Maybe... maybe because I care for you, Reyna. A lot," Percy said in a hushed tone. Reyna shot him a confused look. "Wha-" Reyna whispered. Percy locked eyes with her. Sea-green meeting rich brown. He looked at her almost in a hungry way and smiled that gorgeous smile that she mentally swooned over. And then, he leaned in pressing his lips against hers.

She briefly gasped against him. Suddenly, she found herself kissing him back. She was tempted to wrap her arms around his neck. But just for a second.

She shoved him back, almost making him fall into the water. No. She thought. Not Jason all over again. I won't fall in love. Not while the giant war is at hand.

You will rue the day you took advantage of me!" She yelled at him. He was sitting up now.

"Reyna, wait! He called. "I'm sorry! Please, come back!"

She stumbled away from the Little Tiber, swearing she would never fall in love again.

So! How'd you like that one? I'm sorry it ended with a cliffhanger of sorts, but now you will be more excited for the next one, which should be out tomorrow, so don't worry! Any tips, or comments? Please review! It will only take a few seconds, but make me very happy! :) A happy writer makes happy readers! Anyway, again, hope you liked this one! Bye! :D
