'Ah...that dream again...' Sawamura sighs.

It was an old dream he hasn't had in a long time.

He was alone on the mound, facing monster batters with no one at his back. Try as he might, while he can defeat some of them, he's quickly overwhelmed. Losing every time.

Even the sky knew as it was dark and cloudy, thunder rumbling with lightning flashing every so often before it started raining.

'Playing baseball alone again...' Sawamura frowns as he winds up his arm, pitching his best but it's still not enough. Not enough to defeat all those monsters. Not enough for the team. Still not enough.

It wasn't until he heard someone's voice.

"SAWAMURA!"

"Miyuki...?" Sawamura's voice hitched, "What're you...? Why?"

Miyuki Kazuya was there at the plate, clad in his catcher's gear.

"C'mon! Let's slay these monsters together, partner!" he smiles before he pounds his mitt.

Tears dropped from his face, the rain a perfect mask, before smiling, "Yeah... let's do this partner!"

Pitching to Miyuki's mitt, and hearing that perfect sound reverberate throughout the field.

It was so powerful that it parted the clouds, the thunderstorm disappearing and in its place... a bright blue sky, white clouds, and the sun shining down as the rain gradually stopped.

'Truly a sight I've never seen before...' He smiles as the sun shower eventually clears out, leaving a rainbow in its place.

They stuck out all of them, all the monsters finally defeated and disappearing.

Miyuki walks over to him, smiling with his mitt up. Sawamura smiles back, and they tap mitts. The gesture was more important than anyone else knew.

They were a battery. Partners. Just Miyuki and Sawamura. And it'll stay that way for as long as possible. He'll make sure of it.

When Sawamura wakes up, it's earlier than usual...but he smiles at the dream he had. How an old bad dream turned into a bright good one.

Now fully awake, he goes out to run, but on the way, he bumps into Miyuki.

"What're you doing up?" Miyuki asks.

"I should be asking you that," Sawamura replies.

They stare at each other before one of them cracks.

"I was up reading scorebooks, and I needed coffee. You?" Miyuki sighs.

"I had a nightmare that turned into a good dream," Sawamura shrugs.

Now interested, Miyuki asks, "Wanna talk about it?"

Sawamura thinks for a second before shrugging, a face that says, "Sure. Why not?"

They get coffee and milk coffee before walking to the stairs. Sitting next to each other as they open and take a sip of their coffee.

"So?" is what that look from Miyuki means as he raises an eyebrow at the pitcher expectantly.

"I dreamt that I was alone on the mound, in a thunderstorm, facing monster batters with no one at my back," Sawamura starts.

"No one?" Miyuki blinks at the thought of Sawamura feeling like he's playing baseball alone, "Not even the fielders, or catcher?"

"No one, and even if they were there, I couldn't see them," Sawamura continues, "It's actually been a while since I had that dream but then..."

"Then?" Miyuki tilts his head to the side.

Sawamura smiles at the cute gesture, "Then I heard your voice."

"You...did?" Miyuki stares at him like he can't believe it.

Sawamura nods, "You showed up, yelling at me. You wanted to "slay these monsters together, partner" and we did."

Smiling as he remembers, "The sound of my ball hitting your mitt was perfect and so powerful that it parted the clouds. The sky turned blue, a sunshower before a rainbow."

"We tapped our mitts and smiled at each other before I woke up," Sawamura looks at Miyuki, whose mouth is agape.

'I affect you that much?' Miyuki gulps as he doesn't know how to handle this.

"Ne, show me a sight I've never seen before, senpai?" Sawamura asks with a smile on his lips, tilting his head to the side like a puppy.

Miyuki gives him a small smile before ruffling his kohai's hair, "Sure...my cute kohai."

"I'm not cute!" Sawamura retorts.

As they continue to tease, rile up, and just argue like a married couple, the sun slowly rose into the sky.

Blinking, Sawamura tugs on Miyuki's sleeve, stopping him from speaking. He looks to where Sawamura's looking, only to see the sunrise.

'It's beautiful,' Miyuki muses before seeing the light hit Sawamura's eyes, making them sparkle and shine like gold, 'Both the sunrise and Sawamura.'

He tries to ingrain Sawamura's sun-like eyes and smile into his mind. So he can never forget.

They don't talk about what Sawamura's dream meant...but they have an idea, and that's all they need.
