'Let it be known that I, Sawamura Eijun, hate math. It's my worst subject, and the bane of my existence!'
Currently, Sawamura was doing his math homework. Most of the time, it takes a while, but this time was different.
Tilting his head to the side, Sawamura hums, "Hm…" before furiously doing his work.
45 minutes later…
"DONE!"
Miyuki's room…
It was crowded as usual, and Miyuki was about to escape…but when he opened the door, a certain loudmouth pitcher appeared.
"Bakamura? I thought you were doing your homework?" Miyuki smirks.
"I'm done already!" Sawamura yells as he pushes himself inside.
"Really?" Kanemaru raises an eyebrow, "Cuz if you fail-"
"Hai hai! I know already!" Sawamura glares as he sits on the floor, "Sensei gave me baseball-related questions this time."
"Oh~?" Miyuki smiles, "Then… what are the dimensions of a baseball field?"
Sawamura answers correctly, causing everyone to blink in shock.
"What?" Sawamura shrugs, "In the countryside, if there's no baseball field available, you just draw one out using chalk. I've done that countless times."
"How about maintaining the field?" Kuramochi challenges.
"The soil test, grading the infield dirt, and raking and dragging after every use."
"…Fine then. What's the standard baseball circumference?" Kanemaru asks.
"23 cm."
"Diameter?"
"7.5 centimeters."
"Radius?"
"3.65 centimeters."
"Weight and volume?"
"Between 5 and 5 ¼ oz, and 203.076 cubic centimeters."
Kanemaru sighs, throwing his hands up in surrender, "I give up!"
"Eijun-kun's actually good at math…as long as it involves baseball," sweat-drops Haruichi.
"THE HELL?! WHY are you so good at math now?!" Jun yells.
"Well… it's interesting enough to motivate me. Normal lessons just aren't stimulating enough," Sawamura answers sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck.
'So the idiot just needs the right motivation to pass his classes…' Kanemaru, Miyuki, and pretty much everyone in the room think to themselves. Of course, this gives them ideas for later use.
After that commotion, Sawamura's once again dragged into playing a shogi match with Tetsu.
Then, he hears the familiar sounds of a certain video game.
Hearing as sharp as a dog's, Sawamura asks, "Are you playing Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū right now?!"
"Yup," answer Kuramochi.
"LET ME PLAY!"
"…sure. After this round," Kuramochi says, not really paying attention.
"Sawamura…" Tetsu warns.
Immediately, Sawamura turns his attention back to the shogi board. In a few moves, "Checkmate," before quickly going to play that video game.
Tetsu looks at the board carefully as does Miyuki, who stares at the board in shock.
"You're good, Sawamura," Tetsu mutters, nodding fondly.
As Sawamura's turn with the controller came…
"What the hell? How are you so good at this?!" Kuramochi yells in shock.
"It was my favorite game when I was younger. I've had a lot of practice," Sawamura smiles as he concentrates on the screen.
'If only he was that good in real life…' is what everyone's thinking.
"YES!" Sawamura fist pumps when he wins.
Omake:
Miyuki makes a deal with Sawamura. Pitching time with him if he can pass his exams.
Of course, Sawamura takes it and runs with it.
'I hope I don't regret this…' Miyuki sighs, shaking his head.
