Chapter 2: The Jedi Library

Andrew's first destination was Coruscant. He wanted to go to the old Jedi Temple to see if there was anything there that Master Skywalker had missed. He doubted if there was, but he had to check, just to be sure.

When he arrived in orbit around Coruscant, the first thing he noticed was how much the Yuuzhan Vong had changed it. He had seen the newsvids, but the scope of the changes had never hit home for him. He had only been to Coruscant once, and it was nearly ten years ago now, so he hardly remembered anything about the city-planet; after all, he was only six years old.

He was directed to the ancient Jedi Temple by some anonymous controller from the surface and was soon on his way. Andrew had seen holos of the grand building in its prime, and what he saw could not compare. Back when it was used, it had towered over everything else in the area, but now, it was dwarfed by everything around it.

He landed in a hangar with its door open near the top of the Temple. He got out of his E-Wing and set out to see what there was to see in the old building.

His first stop was to be the library. If there was any information anywhere in the Temple, it would be there. There were a few people there, tourists, most likely, so Andrew asked someone who looked like they knew where they were going.

"Excuse me sir," Andrew said to the man. "Do you know where the old library is?"

"Yes," he responded, "you just need to go down this hall, down the large stairs, and it's on the right."

"Thank you very much," Andrew thanked him as he left to follow the directions.

When he arrived at his destination, he found a large room with tall shelves lined with old holoprojectors. He felt a strong presence in the Force near the back of the room. He headed that way. He got to where the presence was and found nothing.

Then he realized something: the presence he sensed wasn't a being. Whatever it was, though, it was under the floor. He took out his white-bladed lightsaber and cut a half-meter diameter hole in the floor where he felt the odd presence.

He lifted the duristeel circle from the floor using the Force. He looked down the hole and saw a fist-sized cube. He reached out for it, but when he was just about to grab it, he felt a powerful surge in the Force.

Now Andrew was getting worried if this was some sort of Dark Side object. He picked up the mysterious cube and put it in his bag. He had no idea what it was that he had just picked up, but he had a feeling that it would become very important.
