Chapter 11
Outside of a large colosseum a burst of bright blue light appeared before just as quickly fading away to leave a young man in reds and pinks looking around the immediate area looking for something.
Many strange creatures had looked over as the light had appeared but once the boy had appeared they simply looked away as if they thought this a normal occurrence.
Harry was a common enough site in the underworld that even with a change in color the denizens knew him by site so he was left alone as a courtesy to the young mans power. Soon enough Harry saw who he was looking for and started making his way over to said person who was apparently more concerned with getting food then meeting up with him.
Once Harry was close enough he decided to mess with his friend a little. "Well H'earring glad to know our friendship is worth less then a meal it seems." With a teasing tone in his voice Harry watched his friend fumble with his meal in surprise at being addressed suddenly.
After securing his meal H'earring turns to look at Harry and with a pout on his face the small creature addresses his friend. "That's not true at all Harry and you know it, I'm just used to you taking minutes to get down here which gives me enough time to get us food." The pout quickly changes into a large small.
Harry quickly gives his friend a returning smile and helps him with the arms full of food before they turn to enter the colosseum.
Harry looks over to H'earring as the walk through the arch's and head towards a set of stairs. "So you going to tell me who's fighting today and what the dispute is over?" Harry asked in honest curiosity and interest at the match.
H'earring looks side to side before moving over to an out of the way alcove beige once more looking side to side before addressing Harry's question.
"It's the biggest match of the underworld, Chaor the leader and undefeated champion of the underworld versus Lyssta the champion of the colosseum and returning challenger to fight Chaor."
H'earring looked like he just delivered juicy gossip and was about to drop and even juicer bit of it that would put that to shame. Hard to do when Lyssta had a loss ratio of only one fight and that was the second best ratio in all the underworld, that belonged to the very creature she was about to fight again.
"Supposedly Chaors looking for a mate and all the females are trying to gain his attention in the only way we know how, by showing she is a competent warrior and giving the option of taking her as his prize if he wins."
Harry was surprised by this news since he thought Chaor already had a mate in his second lieutenant that helped him to lead and govern the underworld.
Takinom was a fierce and loyal companion of Chaors that had help him maintain his control of the underworld and lead its vast armies, many had thought her to be Chaors mate long before now but if this fight was going forward then it must not have been true.
H'earring had a smug look on his face that seemed to scream that he was the best so Harry couldn't help but burst his bubble.
"Well then I hope Lyssta is ready for the fight of her life since I don't think Takinom will take kindly to someone else trying to take what's hers."
H'earring looked flabbergasted at what Harry just said, he expected Harry to be shocked or at least at a loss for words but instead Harry just dropped a bomb on H'earring that he seemingly forgot.
It was Harry's turn to look smug as he began to walk towards the stands and find himself and H'earring a good spot to sit and see the entire match. H'earring quickly shakes himself out of his surprise and runs after his friend trying to get answers but Harry had already sat down and didn't look like he planned to move anytime soon.
With a grumble H'earring took a seat next to Harry and looked down into the arena proper and saw an exhibition match between a strange bipedal toad like creature and what appeared to be a living suit of armor with giant hands.
The match quickly ended with the toads victory after pulling the armors legs out from under it and into a pit of lava.
The stands had finished filling up by then and a hush had fallen over the crowd as every head turn to look up at a ornate platform that looked out over the entire colosseum.
Standing there towering over all but the largest of creatures was a creature that was the closest depiction to a devil, large blue horn's protruded its head pointing forwards ready to impale its enemies. Spikes jutted up from his shoulders which lead to four fingered claw tipped hands, its tail whipped back and forth with wicked spikes running along it.
The only clothes adorning it's muscular frame was a loin clothe and set of hide boots and a pair of vambraces with spikes along them.
It's sky blue eyes stared down it's muzzle at all below him and his fanged mouth opened, with his lower jaw spikes seemingly scratching at his pectoral muscles, and in a clear but rough voice spoke to his people.
"Today I have been challenged by the colosseums greatest champion outside of myself for the right for her to be my mate."
The colosseum was so quiet that one could hear the wind blowing through the arena pit. "But this has lead to an insult upon my already chosen mate, thus I will not battle Lyssta, but my chosen will, so today's match will be between Lyssta the colosseums champion and Takinom second lieutenant to the armies of the underworld and my chosen mate."
The entire colosseum erupted into cheers and shouts at this news and immediately bets started to be placed all over by many including Harry's friend.
Harry went and grabbed H'earring before he could be occupied by his bartering of rates. "H'earring have the rules changed or are they still the same as last time?"
H'earring turned to Harry before he became to engrossed in trying to make his bet the best return he could get. "Nope still one battle gear, one mugic and the winners decided by death or surrender."
Harry nods at this and turns back to the pit where two figures have taken place on opposite ends of the pit, both trying to stare the other down.
Both were female and lithe of figure but that is where the similarities ended and the differences began.
On Harry's far left was a women with a baby blue skin tone with two horns protruding from the back of her head with a pony tail between them of darkest black. Five fingered hands clutched blades that looked ready to tear into her opponent, hooves feet anxiously scuff the ground and pointed ears twitched at the crowds cheering.
Lyssta looked every bit the arena warrior he remembered from her bladed shoulder pauldron to her armored loon clothe she oozed out confidence in her ability.
But with her opponent in front of her she looked as if she was a simple show fighter too the true warrior that was waiting for this farce to start.
Covered head to toe in dark black armor with red accents the only parts of her you could see were here face and her large red bar like wings rising behind her showing off the strength in each appendage. Her four clawed hands ended in armored talons the same on her three toed avian feet, normal she appeared as a yellow skinned creature with red accents up and down her arms, legs, and neck with only a chest plate to protect her.
Today she was ready for a battle that meant more to her then anything else lose she has fought for, she was ready to show this uppity bitch what she dared to steal from her.
Both women carried a small pouch at their hip which Harry knew had to carry their musical magic or mugic as they tended to call it.
As the betting started to calm down Harry waved over one of the creatures collecting bets and placed his own just as H'earring was returning from placing his in, after retaking his seat H'earring looked over at Harry and saw a strange smirk on his face.
But before he could ask about it a great horn bellowed out a deep note that silenced all in the colosseum quickly, all turned to where Chaor stood and waited with bated breath for his announcement.
"Both contestants are ready and both have chosen not to back down on the matter, so let the match for my mate begin!"
As soon as the words left his mouth both combatants moved into action and the roar of the crowd returned with a fervor that had yet to be seen in the stands yet.
