Thursday morning in front of Lorelai's mirror. Outfit #12

I am looking at my 12th outfit a tight sky blue low-cut sweater, with a just-above knee Black skirt.

"Rory, fashion emergency!" I yell out for the 12th time.

"What is it this time mom I have to get ready to go too ya know." Rory said, clearly annoyed at me.

"I know but I really need your advice. How does this outfit look?" I ask striking a pose.

"It looks great mom. I have an idea how about you wear something relaxed to work and then before the town meeting you and I can pick you out an outfit and since you will be calmer then, you won't have as many, so called fashion emergencys."

"Ok fine. How about we quickly get ready and then go to Luke's for some coffee, and oogle the diner man's goodies."

"EW, mom!"

"What? I do it all the time!"

"I think you go for coffee and I will go to school and try to forget that you just scarred me for life."

"Ok suit yourself."

At Luke's

muahahahahahahahahahahatorture...

"Lukeypoo! Coffee please!"

"Don't call me that." Is all he said.

"Ok then can I have some coffee butch?"

"Don't call me that." He said again going around and filling coffee cups.

Then with a serious tone I said "Luke will you marry me?"

He stopped paying attention to the coffee he was pouring Kirk, and looked at me. "What?" Thinking, for some reason that I was serious.

I cracked up as usual and heard Kirk shout "AHHHH LUKE YOU'RE GETTING COFFEE ON ME! AHH IT BURNS! BURNS!"

"Oh sorry kirk, I didn't realize." Luke said snapping back to reality. He took the coffee pot back to the coffee machine.

He got the mop and mopped up the coffee off the floor. I continued to giggle, remebering the look on his face.

Then I noticed him frowning and bringing coffee to the people around the diner. I wondered if I had offended him. But then again, how do jokes offend people. Luke likes me back, was the thought that answered any questions about Luke's disapoinedness.

"Luke can I have some coffee?" I called across the diner.

"Sure." He says and fills up a mug with some.

"Thanks, Luke. Sorry about the joke."

"What Joke?"

"The one I just played on you. You know 'Luke will you marry me? That joke."

"Oh that one. Why would you think I would be upset over a joke?"

"Well you looked pretty upset."

"Why?"

"You just looked way sadder than usual, thats all."

"Well i'm not upset so don't worry about it."

"Ok thanks for the coffee."

"I would say no problem but there is, coffee is going to kill you."

"Whatever you say Luke." I say and check my watch. Damn It stopped. "Hey Luke, can you tell me what time it is?"

"It's 1:15."

"Ok i'm gonna go pick up Rory. See you at the town meeting?"

"Yeah you will."

"Great."

I go to my car and start on my drive to Hartford.

At Luke's(No Lorelai in this part.)

Phone rings Luke answers.

"Luke's" He said in his usual way.

"Hey, Luke it's Liz."

"Hey Liz how are ya?"

"Actually not too good, I got into a car crash and don't have a ride back."

"So do you want me to come get you?"

"If you could. If you can't then don't."

"Ok what hospital are you at?"

"Hartford Memorial Hospital."

"Ok i'll be there soon."

"Thanks, big bro."

Hartford Memorial Hospital

Luke goes up to the front desk and asks, "I want to find Elizabeth Danes."

"Are you in direct relation to her?"

"Yeah I'm her brother."

"Ok. She is in room 302."

"Alright thanks."

Luke walked around the hospital looking for room 302. He finally found it and entered.

"Hey Liz. Are you okay?"

"Yeah I have a broken arm, but other than that i'm good."

"A broken arm. Wow. Where's Jess was he in the car?"

"No Jess wasn't in the car. I called him. He didn't say much, as usual."

"Do you think you could come home now? I'm gonna go to the town meeting today."

"You're going to the town meeting? Thats a first."

"Lorelai persuaded me to."

"Oh Lorelai." Liz said knowingly.

"What do you mean 'Oh Lorelai?"

"You know you like Lorelai."

"No I don't"

"Yeah you do every time you visit you talk about her more than anything."

"Whatever."

"Can I come? I want to meet the girl that has my brother smitten."

"I am not smitten with her."

"Ok, but can I come?"

"It's your town too."

"cool."

Just then a doctor came in.

"Ms.Danes we have some results back from your ex-rays and i'm afraid I have some bad news."

"What kind of bad news?" Asks Luke.

"Who are you?" Asks the doctor.

"Her brother, what kind of bad news?

"Well i'm afraid we just found out that you have a cancerous tumor in your left lung."

"What?" asks Luke and Liz together.

"We're going to have to keep you here overnight for observation."

"Am I allowed to stay here with her?"

"Yes."

"I'm gonna go tell caeser that I need him to close up tonight and open up tommarow."

"Man now we can't go to the town meeting." Says Liz.
