Chapter 6: An announcment well worth the worry and wait

A/N: Sorry I am so bad with updating! Well as you all know this is the last chapter of the story. I'll probably do a epilouge or somthing if you all would like. Just read and review! Ok here it goes the last chapter.

Where we left off:

"Ok lets bring this meeting to order. anyone who has any Miscellaneous business to attend to please take the floor now." Taylor says. I feel my heart nearly pound its way out of my chest. Rory squeezes my had and I stand and say, "I have an announcement to make."

I make my way up to the podium and for two seconds consider making a run for it, but I don't. I have to do this.

I take a deep breath and speak...

"Everyone, the announcement I am about to make, is one almost everbody in the room knows."

I look at Rory. She sits there calm awaiting my next sentence.

I look at Luke he looks at me with a small grin on his face.

I wonder what on earth he could be thinking of. If he's thinking of me.

I look at the rest of th crowd.

They look a bit impatient.

I barley hear Taylor saying:

"Lorelai lets move this along, we have important business to attend to."

I reply, "Ok Taylor. This announcement is kind of a hard one to make." I start to sweat. I think to myself, come on its time, let him know how much you care.

"A couple of years ago, I walked into a diner, hoping they served coffee. They did. I told a man in flannel and a baseball cap to give me some. He did. For the naxt year I didn't like this man at all, in fact I called him Duke whenever I went into that diner for coffee. I started to take a liking to him and over the next few years he and I became best friends. Just recently however, i've started to take a more intimate liking to him."

I looked at Rory who was smiling and mouthed "Keep going mom"

I look at Luke the small grin on his face has grown into the biggest smile I hsve ever seen him wear. I keep talking.

"Luke Danes, you are everything to me that Rory isn't. I am more in love with you than I have ever been in love with any man. I hope you feel the same way, though many people say you do."

I stopped talking. Luke had gotten out of his seat and was walking toward me.

He took me up in his arms and said "Lorelai Gilmore I love you more than I could love anything in this world."

And with that he kissed me passionately on the lips and I kissed back with the same passion.

With all of the confusion, I didn't realize that everybody in the room was clapping and cheering. Rory had tears in her eyes. They knew it. They all knew that Luke Danes and I belong together.

All of a sudden Taylor hit his gavel and everybody stopped talking. After the town meeting ended everybody went home(duh) Except for Rory and I. We went to Luke's.

When we walked in Luke asked "Did you come for your coffee?"

"No" I replied "I came for my sexy diner man"

"Mom!" Rory said.

"What?"

"Thats gross. I think of Luke as like a father."

"Ok, ok. I'll keep those comments between me and sexy hat man here."

"If you don't quit that mom, i'm going straight home and eating all of the Disney Princess Poptarts!"

"Ok, fine. Can I have some coffee Luke?"

"Yeah, can I talk to you when your finished?"

"Yeah."

Luke served our coffee and when we finished drinking it, Rory went home to study. I went over to Luke and told him I was done.

He said, "Ok lets go upstairs."

"Ok." I replied.

Once we got upstairs, he and I sat on his couch.

"So what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked.

"I just wanted to tell you how incredibly thrilled I am that you like me."

"Luke I don't like you."

"You changed your mind already? Damn it Lorel-"

I cut him off with my lips on his.

"I don't like you Luke I love you."

"I love you too Lorelai. So does this mean we're together?"

"God I hope so."

In my life I will always have one thing I can depend on.

I love Luke Danes
