AN: Hey gang! We're back! Another episode with some drama and emotional moments. Plus, more closeness between Spiroz and Hedwig. Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I do not own Helluva Boss. The Character Spiroz belongs to the artist "DaniDraws" whose permission I have to use the character. Hedwig belongs me though.
Spiroz had been in trouble before. One time, he drew with crayons on his father's favorite books when he was two. There was another time when he booby-trapped his little sister's makeup. And that one incident was only to be muttered as "The Orange Juice Disaster" forever more.
However, this was beyond any trouble that Spiroz had ever done. Because, as of two hours ago, he had murdered a demon. Not intentionally, but it had happened because of the Evil Eye amulet he was wearing. Spiroz knew it was powerful, and he trusted Hedwig's description of it, but either she or both of them underestimated how powerful it could be when it came to protecting its wielder. Because not only was Fizzarolli dead, he was permanently dead. The holy power it projected utterly destroyed him and left nothing more than a burned skeleton whose expression was one of utter agony in their final moments. It didn't take long for Stolas to quickly order everyone home ASAP before anyone could ask questions. Samuel stayed behind to deal with the authorities and press, but he did state he also wanted answers later. Mainly because, as a demon himself, Spiroz shouldn't have been able to wear an Evil Eye pendant.
Again, Spiroz felt that he had ruined everything. This was supposed to be a nice night to meet Octavia's boyfriend, and he fucked it up. He didn't know why he wore the necklace when Spiroz knew there was a risk he could be discovered with it, but Spiroz always felt the need to wear it. Maybe he really liked Hedwig that much, or perhaps he just wanted a part of her to be with him all the time? Regardless, it now opened a new can of trouble as he sat on the couch in their living room with a hot cup of cocoa in his hands.
Loona and Octavia were instantly at each of his sides, comforting him as he was still coming to terms with the idea that he had killed someone. It was said that killing someone was a mark of becoming a true demon in Hell, but Spiroz didn't like the idea of killing. Sure, his Dad trained him to be an assassin like him, but Spiroz never was one for bloodshed. He just preferred to avoid such things. On the other end of the coffee table, sitting with concern and holding a strong drink, was Stolas, who was in intense concentration. Blitzo was pacing around with worry and confusion. Millie, Moxxie, and the twins were still there, standing at the side, unsure what to say or even do.
Finally, the silence ended when Blitzo stopped pacing and looked at his son with the most severe expression ever. "Spiroz?" The hybrid demon winced upon hearing his name with the "z," which his parents only ever did when they were being serious. "I want you to tell me right here, and right now, where did you get that Evil Eye?"
"It's...well...," Spiroz gulped under the glaring eyes of his Dad and his Father as well. He didn't want to tell them about Hedwig. How could he just confess that he was friends with an angel when not long ago they were talking about how much they hated angels. Would his parents hate him? Forbid him from seeing her again. Or, Satan forbid, kill her?
"He got it from me."
Everyone whipped their heads towards Octavia, who slowly stood up and crossed her arms. "I gave it to him."
"Starlight, what in Satan's name were you thinking!" Stolas shouted as he stood up with both worry and fury. "Evil Eye's are designed to kill demons should we even touch a person with one. The fact that my son is even alive is a miracle! What made you even think of giving him one! How did you even get one in the first place?!"
"One of the angels I've associated with in court gave it to me as a gift," Octavia lied as she looked at Spiroz. He instantly saw the intent in her eyes and slowly nodded. "He said he made it to ensure that even demons could wear it. It just would deal with anyone who had ill intentions towards the wielder...as you can see...that clearly happened."
"No shit," Mitzy said, but her father silenced her.
"Why did you give it to Spiroz?" Blitzo demanded.
"Because we all know he still gets bullied and that there are plenty of demons who want him dead for one reason or another," Octavia started with a growl in her tone. "I wanted to make sure my baby brother was alive. Since that clown fucker, may he rot in oblivion, tried to kill him, I think I'm justified in what I did."
Stolas took in a deep breath and rubbed his forehead. "You realize the consequences of all this will be, right?"
"Yeah, I know," Octavia whispered as she looked down bitterly. "I'll handle the damage control. I think it might be best if Spiroz doesn't show his face in public for a while."
"Why?" Spiroz asked.
"Because you killed Fizzarolli with a holy object," Blitzo answered as he walked over to his son and put a hand on his shoulder. "Look, I didn't like the asshole either, and if you didn't kill him, I would have done it for even trying to touch you. But he was a popular figure among demons and was once the lover of a Ring Lord of Hell. There are going to be a lot of demons who will want to see you dead or worse. Not to mention that they'll come after you because you killed him with what was clearly holy fire or something. They might think you've become an angel or associated with them. That makes you even more of a target for that reason alone."
Spiroz started to feel his stomach turn as he wrapped his arms around himself and closed his eyes. Loona quickly wrapped her arms around his chest and whispered that it would be okay, but Spiroz knew it wasn't. Practically all of Hell hated him already; now, they had an excuse even to hate him more.
"I can handle this," Octavia said as she shook her head. "I've got blackmail material on practically everyone in court and favors I can cash in. Practically the only lesson from Stella that I listened to."
"I'll do what I can to help, too," Stolas said, getting up. "Just because I am no longer the head of our house doesn't mean I can't still play the game."
"I'll make sure the palace's defenses are doubled-no tripled-to make sure no assholes try something," Blitzo stated before turning to Moxxie. "Mox, I will stay home until this whole thing calms down. You're in charge of the company until I get back. If shit gets bad for you guys too? Bring your ass here with your family."
"Got it, sir," Moxxie said with a nod.
"Can't we stay with Spiro?" Milton asked, looking up towards his parents. "We want to protect him too!"
"Yeah, we can do something? Can't we?" Mitzy asked, giving her best Bambi eyes impression.
Their parents looked at each other before giving the twins warm smiles. "Of course. I'm sure Stolas and Blitzo won't mind."
"Great, now if you excuse me? I need a drink," Blitzo said as he walked out of the room with Stolas right behind him.
"I...I want to be alone...in my room..." Spiroz replied as he got up and made his way to the staircase. While doing so, he got out his phone and texted Hedwig, making sure nobody saw him.
I need to speak to you. Please. It's urgent—usual place...I...
I really need you now.
When Hedwig saw the text, she knew something was wrong. Call it a gut instinct, but there was something that troubled her about the way that Spiroz had texted her. A million worries began to fill her heart as she sat up and started getting dressed to go out and meet her friend. Was he in trouble? Did their friendship get found out? Did someone in his family die? Every second wasted was torture for her as she got on her clothes and was about to rush out when she bumped into her brothers, who were waiting outside her door.
Looking down at her, they tilted their heads in opposite directions and folded their arms. "Going somewhere, little sis?"
"I'm in a hurry!" Hedwig said as she practically flew up and pushed the twins out of the way. "Sorry! Tell Mom and Dad that I'll be out for dinner!"
Elladan and Elrohir stood in the hall, watching their sister fly as fast as she could like her tail feathers were on fire. Elladan turned to his brother with his fingers on his chin. "This looks suspicious, doesn't it, brother?"
"Why I do agree with you indeed, brother," Elrohir replied, nodding his head. Punching a fist into his palm he stated, "I do believe it might be best if we follow our sister, don't you?"
"Indeed, she might be in trouble, and, as her brothers, we must ensure she is safe," Elladan replied before grinning mischievously. "And if it's something embarrassing or secretive?"
"We must find out so we can hold it over her head later," Elrohir claimed with a puff of her chest.
"It's our duty as brothers, after all," the twins said together before letting out a laugh and following after their little sister.
"Okay, spill the truth."
Octavia gulped as Loona glared at her with those sharp red eyes while pressing her against the kitchen refrigerator. Despite Octavia being more powerful than her step-sister, she still didn't want to mess with Loona. Especially when it came to the safety of their little brother. Loona might have acted like a tough, no-nonsense bitch, but nobody was more protective of the family than her. She would kill anyone who threatened. Even Lucifer himself would not go unscathed from her wrath. It was hard to imagine that there was a time when Loona didn't even care for anyone but herself, but if there is one thing Blitzo's consistent caring for her did, it was open her heart finally to accept that she had a new family. One that wouldn't hurt her as others did in the past.
"What are you talking about?" Octavia asked, but Loona's expression said she wasn't falling for her shit.
"I know for a fact that you didn't give our little brother that Evil Eye," Loona pointed out as she poked her sister's chest. "I saw him wearing that before we even met your boyfriend. He said he got it from his friend Hedwig. So the fact that you took the fall for him means that this Hedwig person isn't someone our dads would approve of...so..."
Realization suddenly hit Loona and Octavia cursed her sister for being more clever than most thought she was. Stepping back in shock, the hellhound asked, "Hedwig is an angel?! He's dating an angel?!"
"Spiro is dating an angel?!"
The sisters snapped their heads towards the entrance where Mitzy had her head poked out with her jaw dropped in shock. She was then kicked off her legs and onto the floor as Milton poked his head out and growled, "Great stealthing, Solid Snake."
Octavia grumbled as she rubbed her forehead. "Alright, yes! Hedwig is an angel, but they're not dating! They're just friends. He met her in the human world the same night you two went to see the meteor shower in secret, and they've been meeting each other ever since."
"Why the hell did he tell you and not me?!" Loona growled.
"Or us?!" The twins demanded.
"I don't know, maybe because he was afraid of how people would react? What would you do if you found out that Spiro was friends with an angel?" Octavia asked, arms crossed.
"Well, first I'd tell him he's an idiot for being friends with one of them, and then I'd tell Dad and Stolas so they could make sure he's not being brainwashed or anything!" Loona growled with worry. "What if she's using him or something?!"
"Yeah, or planning to kidnap him for experiments, exterminate him, or force him to watch The 700 Club!" Mitzy cried out with worry.
"I don't think it's like that," Octavia sighed. "Because when I asked for her full name, I did some research and found out who her parents were from some of the angels that associate with us in court. Considering who her mother is, I think it's safe to say that Hedwig isn't going to hurt Spiro at all. Plus, you've noticed Spiro has been happier of late, right? It's because of her. I don't know if their relationship is more than friendship, but he does care about her."
"But why is that important?! We care about him too! He's like a brother to us!" Milton stated.
"Exactly!" Octavia said as she looked at all three of them seriously. "All of us are family to him. You two might not be related to him, but you grew up together to the point that you are practically family to us in all but blood. But Spiro has never had anyone outside of the family to care for him. He thinks all of Hell hates and despises him, which isn't far from the truth. What does it say about our kind when our natural enemy shows him more kindness to him than even a random stranger on the streets of Hell?"
The three of them didn't have an answer to that. Loona then shook her head. "I still want to meet this Hedwig."
"...Then chances are he might be meeting her now," Octavia said as she rubbed her forehead. "In the emotional state he is in, I think he would go see his friend. I know where they meet up. You three up for a trip to the human world?"
Spiroz stood there against one of the trees in the forest while waiting for Hedwig to show up. While doing so, he thought long and hard about what he would say, but he couldn't come up with anything. All the hybrid demon could think about was how fucked up everything was now. He killed someone, which was bound to have consequences, and his parents made it clear they despised angels. He wasn't afraid for himself. He knew his parents loved him and were trying to protect him. But what about Hedwig? What if she was in danger? Not just from his parents, but anyone in Hell? What if they tried to get to her, or what if she got in trouble for associating with him? There was only so much Octavia could do, after all.
Closing his eyes, Spiroz clutched his chest as he tried to keep his still-beating heart from bursting out. Why? Why can't I just have a normal life?
"Spiro?" He opened his eyes and turned around to see Hedwig rushing towards him from the other side of the grass. Catching her breath for a bit, the snowy owl took his hands and, with such warming concern, looked at him with frightened eyes. "Are you okay? Your text had me worried. Is something wrong?"
"I..." Spiroz gulped and closed his eyes before turning away in shame. "I...I did something bad..."
"What did you do?" Hedwig asked, tilting her head.
"...I killed someone," he whispered, much to her shock. He then quickly said, "It was an accident! He was going to kill my dad, and I pushed him out of the way! But when he tried to kill me, the Evil Eye went off and...and..."
His hand went to his mouth as the memory of the burning flames appeared in his head. The smell of the rotting flesh and bone. The screaming of Fizzarolli as he begged for help from anyone before dying in agony. He almost felt like throwing up. "I didn't mean to do it..." Tears dripped down his cheek. "I didn't...I never..."
"Shhh," Hedwig whispered as she gently held him and nuzzled his cheek, much to his shock. "Don't blame yourself. If you want to blame someone, blame me. I gave you that necklace because I wanted to ensure you were safe. But, Spiro?" She then made him look into her eyes with determination. "That necklace was designed only to hurt those who wanted to hurt you, and the fact that he tried to kill you meant it felt the best way to do so was to kill the demon who did it. You did nothing wrong. Besides, if I'm being honest, I'm glad it killed him. Because I don't want to lose my best friend to some psycho."
"... I'm your best friend?" Spiro asked with awe. "Y-You can't be serious. You have to be kidding. I mean, I can see us being friends, but best friends?"
"Why not? Since all the time I've gotten to know you, I've come to see you as such," Hedwig said happily before frowning. "I mean, I understand if you have a best friend yourself, and I'm not that. I mean, we've only been friends for a short time, but-"
"Hedwig, before I met you, I never had a single friend in my life," Spiro answered honestly as he slowly backed away and shook his head. Gripping his talons, he turned away. "You're the first person I've ever met who wasn't family that treated me like a fucking living creature and not an abomination! I mean, there is Uncle Moxxie, Aunt Millie, Milton, and Mitzy, but I see them like family! But that's all I ever had, and I love my family! And they love me! But that's not fucking enough when you have everyone in Hell who hates you and wants to kill you because of how you were born! I even had that happen tonight and ruined my sister's date because of it!"
Screaming, Spiro unleashed a lightning bolt on one of the trees and left a huge burn mark on it. "It's not fair! I never asked to be born like this! I never asked for this to happen! I just want to be treated like normal, but I'm treated like scum! Like a monster! Which is ironic since I live in Hell, of all places! I have to go to school daily with glares, mocking jokes, and outright abuse from my peers and even my teachers! I get scorned by every class and race in Hell when I step outside! They just don't want me around them! They want me dead! I was even almost killed multiple times as a baby! The only reason I'm still alive is because of my family's connection to Queen Charlie!" He turned around and shouted to Hedwig, who stood there in stunned silence. "Do you have any idea how much that hurts? To have everyone look at you like you shouldn't even exist?! I have feelings too! I have dreams! I'm just as alive as them, but everyone thinks I have no right to exist!"
Now the tears weren't stopping, but Spiro didn't care. He just wanted to let it out. Just this once. He wanted someone to know how much his life sucked. "And then...I met you—an angel. Someone I should be afraid of and hate because I'm a demon. But you showed me kindness. You wanted to be my friend. I felt more relaxed and comfortable near you than I ever had with anyone else outside my family. But if you knew who I was? What I was..."
"...Why?" Hedwig asked, holding her hand to her mouth in shock and getting misty-eyed. "Why do they do such a thing to you? Even demons shouldn't be this...this...heartless. What right do they have to do this to you?!"
Spiro slowly turned his head away and sighed. "There is something I need to tell you. Because...you deserve to know the truth about me. You want to know why I am seen as an abomination?" Spiro took a deep breath, looked into his friend's eyes, and said, "My parents are male. Both of them. I was...I was born between a male Goetia demon prince and a male imp. I don't have a mother because I was born from an egg my father created. I'm...born from two fathers."
Hedwig's eyes went wide and her jaw dropped. There was a long silence before she shook her head a bit before shouting, "H-Huh?! That's...I've never...heard of that...really?!"
"Yeah," Spiro whispered as he closed his eyes. "It's not supposed to happen, right? All against nature and that shit? Females give birth. Not males. Well, I guess I'm the fucking exception then." Spiroz slowly lowered his head and sighed. "The thing is, neither of my parents remembers what happened that night. I just appeared before them. Was I made my magic? Sex? A combination of both? It doesn't matter. I'm considered a freak, and all I've done is cause trouble since I was born.
Closing his eyes, Spiroz muttered, "My father's family practically wants nothing to do with us, and they forced him to give up his throne to my older sister, Octavia. My family gets harassed and hated by everyone every day, not just because my parents, a prince and an imp, are married, but because they have me as a son. My friends and their family are practically isolated from the rest of the imp and hellhound community. Even Aunt Millie's family now wants nothing to do with her because of her association with me. Sometimes..."
He took a deep breath and sighed. "Sometimes I wished I didn't even exist because everyone just suffers because of me. And that sometimes...sometimes I wish I could just disappear. Maybe everyone would be better off that way."
"DON'T SAY THAT!"
In an instant, Hedwig grabbed Sprioz by the shirt and forced him to look her in the eyes. She shouted, "Don't you ever-EVER-say that, Spiroz Goetia! If you ever say something like that again I will take my father's mace and slam your head with it until you start thinking with that brain of yours!"
"H-Hedwig..."
"You deserve to exist because you are one of the sweetest and kindest boys I've ever met! Demon or no demon! I may not have met your family, but it sounds like they are one of the best families ever for dealing with all that garbage other demons give them for staying by your side! Other worse families would have abandoned you, but your family doesn't because they love you! I wish I could tell this to some angels back home who think your kind doesn't know the meaning of love and sacrifice, but this proves them wrong!"
She then poked him in the chest. "And what do you think would happen to them if they didn't have you anymore?! They would be heartbroken! Your parents would be devastated, and your siblings would think they failed to protect their little brother! And your friends would be sad! Myself included!"
"W-Wait, but I just I was-"
"I don't care that you were born to two fathers!" Hedwig screamed so loud as she tearfully looked at him despite the anger in her face. "Spiroz, I'm your friend because I like you!"
And just like that, Spiroz felt his mind go blank, and his world suddenly shifted. His mouth dropped open as he stared at Hedwig in silence as the sentences echoed in his head. She...she liked him? Even though she knew the truth? This angel liked him?
No.
Not just an angel.
A friend.
Hedwig sighed as she slowly let go of Spiroz and smiled at him. "Spiroz. You could be Lucifer's son, and I'd still be friends with you. What matters is who you are inside, not what you were born as or who your parents were. I mean, I'm a perfect example of that."
"Huh?" Spiroz asked, blinking in confusion.
"You're not the only one with a secret that didn't tell their friend," Hedwig sighed as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Do you know why I'm so interested in demons? Why was I thrilled you got me that book about noble demon families? It's because...my mother was a demon. Specifically, she was a member of a lesson house of Goetia demons."
"W-What?! But you don't look like you're a demon at all!" Spiroz pointed out before realizing. "She...she redeemed herself, didn't she?"
"She was one of the first wave of demons to go to the Hazbin Hotel when it started working properly and became an angel two years after joining," Hedwig explained with a warm smile. "My father, an Archangel, fell in love with her, and they wed before having my brothers and me. There are a lot of "Old Testament" type angels who think that such a union was wrong and that my brothers and I aren't real angels because of my mother's former status as a demon. So I didn't have the most friendly of childhoods either."
She looked at her hand and sadly frowned. "I was called Demon Girl by a lot of the meaner kids. Some became my friends, but we sadly grew apart as we got older, and my interest in demonology didn't help either. My brothers are popular enough to avoid that, but me? I'm somewhat weird in the eyes of my peers. Maybe not to the extent of horrific conditions you suffer, but I understand where you're coming from when you feel ostracized from society. We both have to deal with our parents' choices in romance, but I don't think we should be ashamed of it. I embrace my mother's history and what she once was because it was a part of her identity. And she is a part of me. Just like both of your parents are a part of you."
"But...but..." Spiroz was trying to comprehend this. "But I'm born from two males! Isn't that seen as sacrilegious or something to angels?"
Hedwig was silent for a bit before she decided to answer. "Do you want to know a secret that demons do not know save for the upper echelons of your society? One that they never will admit to or even share? Every demon that has ever been born was allowed to be born because of God. God himself is the only being in the entire universe that can allow life to be created in general. Not even Satan has the power to create life. If God wanted to ensure that demons didn't exist, he could make it so that none of you can have children."
Spiroz felt his body freeze up at the thought of that. The idea that the creator of the universe could easily just make every demon not have children like that was scary. And yet, as he looked into Hedwig's bright blue eyes, he couldn't help but realize she was telling the truth. "B-But why doesn't he just do that? Demons are his enemies, right?"
"Who knows? Maybe demons do serve a purpose that God intends for them to have? Maybe he believes you can all be saved or something? Only God knows what God does. Not even the Prime Archangels can say what he is thinking." Hedwig then smiled at him and put her hands on his shoulders. "But, Spiroz? If God didn't want you to exist, then you wouldn't have been born in the first place. But you did. He made you just like he made me and everything else. He is in everyone and everything, even demons like you, despite all of you never admitting it. If God made you, despite being born to two male demons, then there is a reason he did so. What it is, I don't know, but you are alive. Which means you have the right to exist in the eyes of God. And as far as I am concerned, Spiro, you are a living, breathing creature who is my best friend."
She then brought him close to her embrace and gently kissed him on the cheek. "You're not alone anymore. You have me. Now and forever. Until the end of time. I am, and always will be, your friend."
"He...He...Hedwig...you...you..." Spiroz wept as he wrapped his arms around her and sobbed on her shoulder. He then wailed, but it wasn't a sad one. It was a happy one. A sun was bursting in his chest, and he felt like the entire world was shining around him.
At this moment, all the dark thoughts, insults, and visions that had plagued him for so long were gone. None of it mattered anymore. Because of this person. This angel? She had accepted him. All of him. Every part of him and it made him happy.
No, it made him feel alive.
"...Thank you. You...you're my best friend too," He whispered as he swore, in his heart, to protect her and this bond they had forever. "I...I don't know what to say..."
"Just promise me that if you need someone, you'll come to me? And I'll come to you if I need the same?" Hedwig asked with a warm smile.
"Always..." Spiro said as he took her hand and held it tight with his own while giving her a bright smile. Hedwig. I will always come to you. No matter what you need, I will be there for you. I swear even before God himself. You are the one I will always protect. Always.
"Besides, you know what this means, right?!" Hedwig's eyes lit up like stars as she looked at him with drool. "This means that you technically classify as a new demon! I can write so much about you and learn how different you are from other demons! This will be so great for my research that I'm already thinking of essays to write! Eeeeeeek!"
And there is the Hedwig I know and love, Spiroz thought with a chuckle. "Does this mean you're going to look at my butt again?"
"Hey, that was one time!" Hedwig shouted with a blush. The two started laughing at each other before rubbing the back of their heads. "Um, so what should we do now?"
"Well, if you are, I'm in the mood for ramen?" Spiroz asked with a lick of his lips.
"I think that sounds like a great idea! Let's go!" Hedwig shouted as she grabbed his hand and rushed them off towards the direction of town.
"...Wow." That was all Loona could say as she, Octavia, Milton, and Mitzy stood there under the cloaked protection spell from the owl princess. "She's...well..."
"Not what I expected, but one that I approve of," Octavia whispered with a smile and a tear in her eye. She was so happy for her brother. He finally found someone outside of their circle that cared about him. Even after knowing the truth. "She's a good person."
"I find it hard to believe, but yeah," Milton said with just an equal shock. "I guess...they are happy together."
"Do you think...it's more than friendship?" Mitzy asked seriously. "I mean...they look closer than most friends would be."
"...If it ends up like that, we support them," Loona said firmly, much to everyone's shock, as she turned around and glared at them. "Listen. We keep this to ourselves. Nobody knows about this, including our parents."
"A minute ago, you were ready to charge and pluck that angel's wings out," Octavia pointed out. "What changed?"
"...My little brother is happy. That's what changed," Loona whispered as she hugged herself and looked ashamed. "You heard what he said, right? About how he wished he sometimes didn't exist? I've only ever seen that once in my life. That was with Dad when he almost... he almost..." Loona grit her teeth. "I felt like I failed Dad that day. I failed him as a daughter because I was reluctant to be one. But when I held him in my arms and saw him come back, I realized I was wrong. He was my Dad, and I swore never to let him go into such a state again. A state where he thought the entire world hated him and he was better off dead."
She then punched the tree next to her. "I knew Spiroz had it bad. I knew that life for him was never going to be easy. But to hear him just say all that? I feel like a failure of a sister now."
Octavia quickly hugged her step-sibling and whispered, "If you're going to blame yourself, blame me too. I've done what I could, but I guess it wasn't enough."
"Us too," The twins both said as they looked down in despair, knowing that their best friend was suffering and they couldn't do anything to help him.
"Then maybe Hedwig is what he needs," Loona suggested as she calmed down. "I've never seen him look so happy, and if she can ignore the fact that he was born between two males, then I'll accept her. For Spiro's sake, if nothing else. We'll observe them just to be sure, but nothing else, agreed?"
The others agreed. They would allow this relationship, whatever it was, to continue in secret and protect the two of them.
Spiroz was family, and they would do whatever was necessary to keep him safe.
"So, our dear sister has her own demon friend?" Elrohir said as he and his twin rested on the trees, looking down in the direction their sister and her new secret friend were once standing. "I didn't see this coming, did you?"
"No, I thought she was seeing a human," Elladan answered with a chuckle. "She takes after father more than we thought."
"I like him. Spiro, I mean," Elrohir stated with a smile. "To go through all that terrible stuff in Hell and yet still be so kind and loving? Perhaps God is watching over him?"
"But as our sister said, for what purpose?" Elladan questioned with a rub of his chin. "Shall we watch how this story unfolds?"
"Without telling anyone?"
"Without telling anyone."
The twins agreed and took off for the night to prepare for their new project, watching their sister and her demonic friend grow in their relationship.
