"Should he be saying stuff like that?"
"It does sound like a seduction instead of a goodbye, doesn't it?"
While Kagome and Inuyasha happily and openly spied on Miroku and his newly rediscovered girlfriend, Sango stood back and refused to participate. Whatever was going on down there should be private. It wasn't appropriate for her to listen in, no matter how annoyed she might be. Still, the more Inuyasha and Kagome carried on, the more she realized she was curious enough to at least take a quick look. Some part of her, at least, was curious to see if the monk was as depraved as Koharu's story made him sound.
A quick glance showed that the scene was much as she had imagined it.
"Sheesh," she muttered, quickly turning away again. For some reason the sight of Miroku and Koharu embracing struck something deep inside her, something that sparked an unprecedented level of irritation at the monk's antics. He had annoyed her plenty of times before, but nothing like this. "Letting her cling like that… he's only encouraging her to hold onto her affection for him, isn't he?"
Did he think he was going to come back for Koharu one day, after all? And why did she care whether he did or not? It wasn't any of her business who ultimately agreed to bear his child, as long as he kept his mind on their shared quest in the meantime.
Inuyasha fixed her with a quizzical look. "Is it just me, or have you been acting on edge since we got here, Sango?"
Her face heated noticeably at the implication that she might care more about all this than she had realized, or was willing to say. Was she blushing? The more flustered she grew, the angrier she became. She glared at him with as much ire as she could muster, which at the moment was a considerable amount, and snapped, "It's just your imagination."
He didn't ask again.
