A/N: just a short, weird AU which I wrote as I needed a break from "The Good Boy"… Which IS coming along, I promise! Keep your pants on. ;)
Breeding Trouble
"Have you looked through the catalogs? There are perfectly good males in them," Bruce told him.
"Not good enough. Not to be the father of my first child," Robin sniffed. He was a carrier, this was his first heat, and he knew exactly what kind of man he wanted to breed with. Actually, he knew the exact man he wanted to breed with.
Carriers went into heat every other year. The heats started once they had gone through puberty and were ready to breed. It lasted from a week up to two months depending on if they got pregnant or not. They didn't have to breed, of course, but to have children was considered a gift to society as the human population had dwindled and spread far and wide. Robin had eagerly expected his first time for years. Ever since he had first seen the man who was going to be the father of his children.
It was the carrier's world: they choose the mate, they set the rules. If a 'male', as they were called, mistreated them or tried to force themselves on them it was punished harshly, not only by the law but by the fact that breeders had venom glands in several areas, including inside their body. If something that wasn't allowed in there forced itself in, the owner might very well die from it. It was very effective in preventing rape.
It didn't used to be like this, but humanity had evolved for almost a billion years now and, on the way, mixed with several alien species. Outwards nothing had really changed, but the old two-sex system was definitely out the window. There were even women who could lay their eggs inside of men or female partners. Life found a way.
"You have summoned him, haven't you?" Robin asked his guardian.
"Yes." The man didn't seem all that happy with his ward's choice. "I know he's the captain of the city guard, and he helps to keep our Gotham the peaceful zone it is, but he's warrior breed like me. You know how we can be like."
"Yeah, yeah, I know you can shut off any undesirable emotion and stuff, but like you said: we're at peace!"
"We also don't like to be bossed around."
"You… don't think he'll come?"
Bruce sighed. "Then the heir to the richest and most influential family in the city summons you to discuss a safety issue, you do show up. He'll be here. But you could have told him the truth."
"Well, I wanted to make sure he'd show up. I tried to talk to him last week at that ball, and-"
"And he was working."
"He still could have taken a break…" Robin muttered.
"He's dedicated."
"Which is why I'd like him as a mate."
"Robin, he won't stay around. Some males do, yes, but he won't. Not after a simple mating."
"Pft, who said anything about a simple mating," Robin huffed. "Don't underestimate me."
Bruce chuckled and ruffled his hair. "Tell that to him, maybe? He'll be here in half an hour. I'll have Alfred show him up to your suite and then you'll have the whole wing to yourself. But I warn you; you might get disappointed."
"I won't be!" the teen grinned happily and then hugged the man. "I'll see you soon!"
"I'll see you soon. Call me if there's any trouble."
"Will do!"
Robin returned to his rooms, making sure it was all perfect. Exactly at the appointed time there was a knock at the door.
"Captain Wilson here to see you, Master Robin," Alfred, the old butler, said and let the man through. "I brought refreshments," he added and pulled a delicate cart inside, set with glasses and a tall pitcher of what looked like lemonade, the ice chunks clinking as the cart went over the threshold.
"None for me, please, I don't have long," The captain, Slade Wilson, said. "What was it you wanted to speak to me about Mr. Grayson?"
"I'm afraid it might take a little time and I'd like to speak in private," Robin answered.
The man's single eye narrowed and then looked in the butler's direction. Alfred, not liking being incriminated at any level rolled his eyes at the young man, excused himself and left.
"Here you go," Robin placed a cool glass in the man's hand. He felt like swooning over having the man this close. It was a pity about his eye, but it had happened in battle so it wasn't hereditary. That was important when choosing your mate; a strong and healthy gene pool was the only option.
Although he felt horny, the heat didn't render him mindless in any way. He knew that his body was pouring out pheromones, although he couldn't smell them himself. However, judging by how the man's nostrils flared, he could.
Slade drank, seemingly just not to be rude, but after a sip he again asked what the security risk was.
"Well…" Robin was feeling a bit sheepish now. Maybe it would have been easier just to have asked him here for the real reason. "Actually, I am in heat…"
"Is your chosen mate a liability?"
"No, he's… you."
The man blinked. "Excuse me?"
"I've chosen you to be my mate."
"You tricked me into coming here and-"
"I know you're busy, but this won't take long!" Robin almost pleaded. Then he straightened his back. He belonged to the Wayne family, and Waynes didn't plead. "Follow me, the bedroom is just through here."
"No."
Robin turned around. He had expected the man to be a bit grumpy, maybe, but not to say no.
"What do you mean 'no'? I get hundreds of invitations to breed a week! I have since I turned thirteen, for crying out loud! And I choose you!"
"But I didn't send you one of those invitations. I don't appreciate being set up. Goodbye."
"Wait!" Robin jumped forwards, blocking the man's path. "Alright, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult you. Please accept my apologies?" the young man said, holding his hand out.
"Alright." The captain shook the hand and then pulled back with a hiss. "You stung me! You… you…"
"I'm sorry," Robin said, the stinger retracting from under the nail of his index finger. "I just need a bit longer to convince you."
The man was already on his knees. The sting wasn't deadly, only a strong sedative, and soon Robin could drag the man into his bedroom using a rug. It then took him quite a while to get the body up on his bed. After that, there was the matter of keeping him there.
Robin happened to know, by complete accident, that his mentor was into bondage, and soon the 'secret' wardrobe of Bruce's was raided and Slade was chained and hand foot to the bed. The man was strong but the bed was sturdy enough, Robin decided as he administrated the antidote, to wake the man up quicker. Otherwise he would have been out for hours. Apart from his shoes, which Robin had to remove to chain his legs, Slade was still dressed, something the young carrier realized might be a problem a bit too late. Still, there was really only one part of him that really needed to be bare. Robin rather wanted to see it all, though.
"…What…? Where?" the man muttered as he stirred. He then seemed to get fully awake in just seconds. He glared at the young man next to the bed. "Release me."
"No. I told you I wanted to breed with you. You just need some convincing."
Robin started by undressing himself, glancing at the man under his bangs, looking for any hint of interest, but only seeing annoyance. Well, he'd change his mind.
"It's my first heat. You'll be my first mate," he said, hoping that would sweeten the deal.
"May I ask why?" the man growled.
"Because you're perfect!"
That got a little bit of a smirk, just a little bit.
"I'm also not a piece of meat. You cannot just order me to breed with you," Slade said firmly.
"I'm not asking for any compensation for the child, I haven't had you sign anything, have I? It will be cared for; I just want you to be its sire. And… and if you would like to stick around, that would be-"
"I don't think so. Not after this."
"But I'll make it good for you, I promise!" Robin said, forgetting that the Waynes didn't plead. He was naked now, and he saw the man's eye taking him in; his long legs, his lean, flat, nicely muscled chest and abs, everything. Robin turned around to make sure the man saw his rear as well, a body part he was especially proud of: pert and well muscled. You could bounce a coin off it, no problem. Robin fetched the lubricant from the bedside table and then took a deep breath as he straddled the clothed man's hips.
Slade wasn't talking so Robin just decided to explore for now, slowly undoing the man's shirt buttons. His lust surged when the chest was exposed, even making him moan a little. He shyly caressed the muscles and then, slowly, bent down to place a kiss on the skin. Slade still wasn't talking or moving, just frowning at him. Robin hoped he'd be more cooperative soon. He kissed a trail down the man's stomach and then slowly undid the pants as well. He had chained Slade's feet close together, so it was easier to get the trousers down than he feared. Mid hip was far enough. Now for the main course. The teen gasped as the man's member came into view. It was impressive, resting against his thigh.
"You're big," he breathed. He didn't get a reply.
Robin decided that he really needed to prepare for this and reached for the lube. Using his own fingers he almost came as he shoved them inside himself. He moaned, moving on top of the man, making sure he could take that cock on.
Then it was Slade's turn. Robin lubed the shaft up, expecting it to harden immediately, but nothing happened. He then used his mouth as well, licking, sucking, nibbling, doing anything he could think of. Nothing.
"Get hard, dammit!" he eventually hissed in frustration, hitting the man's thigh.
"So assault as well as rape. What a lovely young man you are," the captain drawled.
"I'm not raping you! You'll like it!"
"Does it seem that way? You're trying to force me to do something I don't want to do, take something that isn't yours. It's rape, Robin, and not even a carrier in heat can get away with it."
"But I love you!" Robin had tears in his eyes now, tears of frustration but also loss. He was losing Slade.
"You don't even know me," the man snorted. "I'm just one of the most sought after males in the city, and of course the little 'prince' wanted the best." The man sneered as he said the last words. "Spoiled brat."
"I wanted you since I was a child! Only you! You're the only man I've ever wanted! You like to read criminal novels, you like mind puzzles, you drink your coffee black, you eat anything but always chooses fish or steak when you it's up to you, you like to talk to intellectuals but you hate snobs who look down on you because you're a warrior breed. You love to prove to them that you have a brain. You're incredibly intelligent, you work out every day, you-"
"You have been spying on me?" Slade snapped.
"I … I…" Robin just seem to deflate where he was sitting, sobbing. "I… I'm sorry… I…"
"Wait… books… mind puzzles… you got me those presents?!"
"Every birthday and winter holiday…" Robin sighed. "I wanted to do it personally, but…"
"But I've gotten those for the last five years!"
"I told you! It's always just been you! I tried to talk to you every time we've been in the same room, but you never noticed me!"
"Actually, I remember thinking that you weren't an idiot at the spring dance last month… I overheard you talking to the Browns, but then you turned to me and…"
"And my brain turned to mush. I know." Robin sighed and then climbed off the man. "I'm sorry. I… I wasn't thinking clearly," he said as he unlocked the cuffs. "If you want to press charges, I understand. I won't make a fuss. I'll just admit it and take my punishment. I deserve it. Please… please excuse me…" Robin felt his tears brimming over right now, but didn't want to cry anymore in front of the man. It was bad enough as it was. He locked himself in the bathroom and didn't come out again until Alfred knocked a short while later.
"I just saw Captain Wilson leave. Is it done?"
"No. And it won't be." Robin tried to keep his voice as level as he could. "Alfred, remove my name from the mating lists, I won't be breeding."
"You are young; it's common not to mate on your first heat-"
"I won't be breeding ever," Robin growled. "Throw away all invitations from now on. I don't want to see them."
The old man agreed, knowing it was useless to reason with the boy when he was in this mood. They might not be related by blood, but somehow Robin had still managed to inherit Bruce's stubbornness.
Almost a month later Wayne manor held a charity event, raising funds for the protection of the city. The city guard's finest were of course attending, including their captain.
Robin did the best to avoid him, but to no avail.
"You're trying to escape me, are you?" the man suddenly said from behind him.
Robin gasped and spun around, almost spilling the virgin drink he was nursing.
"Sl- Captain Wilson, you scared me," he huffed, putting the drink down on a side table.
"I haven't read any happy news in the papers, but your name is off the mating lists. Are you expecting?"
"I won't be mating."
"Really now?"
"Really. If you would excuse me… unless you're about to tell me that you'll take legal actions after all?"
"I wouldn't really want my men to find out that I ended up chained to a bed," the man muttered.
"Again, I apologize."
"Why don't you go find a mate? You ooze pheromones. You probably have half the room hard by now."
"I told you. You're the only one I ever wanted." Robin turned and stalked off, only to have his arm caught after only a few steps. "Let me go!" he hissed, tore himself away from the man by slipping out of his jacket, and ran off. He heard Slade grunting something and then beginning to follow him, so he sped up, going through the ball room, out through the French doors and into the vast park-like back garden. Only part of it was lit for the party, but it was a warm night with a full moon and Robin knew his way around.
He stopped when he was out of breath, but then heard those heavy footsteps again. Slade was still following him! He took off in another direction, ducking into the shadows, weaving back and forth between sculpted bushes until he reached the edge of the park where a wilder, forested landscape took over. It was darker here under the trees, and he rarely went this far. Still, a heavy, thumping noise rapidly closing in on him made him push himself a bit further.
The ground had been kind to him up until now, but suddenly there was a root in the way. He cried out as he stumbled, falling down on all fours. The sound was so close now that instead of getting up, Robin dashed under the closest ferns. The steps passed him. And stopped. The sound of sniffing reached him. His pheromones! That's how the man had tracked him! He needed to get back, into the house! He took off but the man was too close.
Robin gasped as he was tackled to the ground, the man on top of him. He had landed on his stomach, but was turned around harshly. His hands pinned over his head making his sedative stingers useless.
Then- Slade kissed him. Hard, demanding, possessively, settling on top of his body like he belonged there.
"You went along with this all wrong," the man growled when he let the young carrier breathe again. "I'm a hunter, you idiot, not a cataloged male. And I caught you now. And I'm going to breed you."
It wasn't a question, not really, but because of the venom Robin had learned that he needed to give a vocal permission or denial to permit his partner to mate with him, or warn him if it wasn't welcome.
"I… I… yes," he nodded.
"There is one condition, though."
"…yes..?" Robin said. He wasn't normally a pushover, but he was pretty sure he'd agree to anything the man wanted.
"There will only be me. No male is to touch your body for as long as I live, is that understood?"
"Y-yes… yes, of course! That's what I've been telling you, you idiot!" Robin snorted, his fire returning full force.
"Also, I will care for you and our little ones. You'll live under my roof, not your guardian's."
At that Robin's eyes flooded and he sniffed, trying to stop the sobs.
Slade let up a bit and frowned. "That makes you sad?"
Robin let out a sound between a chuckle and a sob. "No… no… the other way around." He wound his legs around the man. "Come on now… while I'm still in heat."
The End.
A/N: weird universe, huh? Wanna see more from it? Nothing planned at all, but let me know.
