Hey! This is Shuichi's birthday present from me to him! -glomps Shuichi- It's a cute little drabble I came up with. I bet this idea has been used a zillion times but I couldn't resist! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHUICHI! I LOVE YOU!AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL THOSE WHO CELEBRATE IT! May your day be filled with joy and happiness! The drabble is exactly 600 words, btw.
Disclaimer: I don't own Gravitation.
It was an ordinary day for Shuichi. THAT was the problem. See, it was Shuichi's birthday, and Yuki hadn't even told him, "Happy birthday…" (Shuichi doubted Yuki would be enthusiastic, but he wanted SOMETHING from the novelist.) Shuichi couldn't believe it!
Hiro had gotten him a new Nittle Grasper CD, Suguru gave him a new alarm clock so that Shuichi might arrive to work on time, Sakano gave him a boring book that had a really freaky name that Shuichi couldn't pronounce, K gave him a no-shooting all-day pass and Ryuichi gave him a pink sock. Hey, at least they TRIED. Had Yuki possibly forgotten? No, Shuichi gave too many clues…
"Hey Yuki!" Shuichi called. "Good morning, honey bunch!" Yuki growled and covered his head with his pillow. "Come on, rise and shine! Today is a very SPECIAL day, you know? It's the day that someone very special in your life was born."
"Go away…" Yuki mumbled. He took his pillow away from his face and threw it at Shuichi lazily. "I don't care if my Mercedes was born today. Can't you see that I'm trying to sleep here?" He made no effort to awaken. Shuichi sighed angrily. "Ugh, why did I let you live here again? Maybe my alarm clock broke or something… Ngh…" And Yuki was down for the count.
"Come on Yuki!" Shuichi pleaded. He looked at Yuki's sleeping form sadly. "Don't you remember what day it is today? Can't you be nice just once? Please?" There was only the reply of loud mumbles and snores. Shuichi's eye twitched. "UGH! I GIVE UP!GOODBYE YUKI!" And he stormed out the door, furious with Yuki.
'How could he have forgotten?' Shuichi thought.'He's my lover, isn't he? He's supposed to know these things like the back of his hand.' He paused and frowned. 'No, why would he know this? It's not like he cares what I do or anything. I bet he wouldn't even care if I managed to get hit by a truck right now…'
The lights seemed to dim as he continued to walk steadily. 'I wish Yuki would love me' Shuichi thought. 'Maybe one day he will, but it's obviously not happening any time soon, eh? Man, I feel so miserable… Aren't birthdays supposed to be happy? I guess not.'
Shuichi's previous birthdays had been filled with happiness and joy. Hiro always came over, and they sang songs and danced like idiots. But this year, that wasn't even an option. Shuichi had thought that Yuki would do something nice for him, so he let Hiro make plans with Ayaka. It was too late to take it back…
Shuichi sighed. This day seemed so horrible. He put his hands in his pockets, and felt something. He frowned in confusion. He pulled the mysterious item out of his pocket. It was a...letter? Shuichi's read it silently.
Dear Shuichi,
Hey. You'll probably find this as you walk home from work, because you're too stupid to check your pockets earlier during the day. Anyways, since I can never find a way to tell you stuff and end up biting your head in person, I stuck this in your pocket while doing laundry. (You already told me what you were going to wear, 291 times to be exact, so I knew.) Well, happy birthday. And sorry for being an asshole earlier.
Love, Yuki
Shuichi smiled weakly and put the letter back in his pocket quietly. Maybe it wasn't such a bad birthday after all... (He'd squeal like a fangirl and glomp Yuki later, he decided.)
