Chapter 3 – Teach Me
The two of us; mother and daughter sat still as the child took in what she had said, "…What was the other reason?"
There was silence in the before mother replied to the question. "I can't be so sure of the reason myself however, I don't really remember when I performed conception with him. I'm not even sure myself what happened when I did give birth."
"I-I..."
The mother leaned forward and wrapped her arms around the small girl, "No matter the reason, I chose to have you when you came to exist and I never regretted it. Never let this put you down, Sana."
"I love you mum."
"I love you too."

She was only able to gain a short amount of rest after the long workout she had done, Sana felt the sting in her eyes as she desperately tried to ignore the chatters of the other children, and yet that too came to naught as she was abruptly woken up from her nap. Her violet eyes tiredly moved to look at the perpetrator to be the Matron herself who took care of the orphans.
This was practically her third day staying in the orphanage but even then, Sana felt as though she had a good grasp in how the Matron and the other caretakers did their job. The expression of kindness which they present themselves with in front of others was but a mere facade to hide the truth in how they really are.
It could perhaps be of the stress building up due to the amount of children orphaned because of the incident a few years back which had cost the village some massive property damages as well as the lives of many people.
Nevertheless, it didn't really answer the question as to why the these adults would lie to even themselves. Sana heard from the other children that they are only here for the huge donation provided to them. Greed was a tempting sin which was not easily fulfilled. It was in a way, worrying how the children already knew how they were and never did something.
She too had to be quiet now as she had recently just arrived, sighing at that thought, she followed the adult who forcefully woke her up, Sana was led to an open room filled with wooden tables and chairs. The kids her age that was present were eating their fill for the morning.
She was led to follow the queue leading towards getting her portion, the sustenance she saw didn't look appealing, it was also quite worrying how several of orphans looked to be only getting less than others, as she too was given which didn't fill her up at the slightest. Still, it was enough since it was basically free food. Sitting down in one of the empty tables, she broke the chopsticks provided into two before getting ready to eat..
"Sana!" Said girl looked up from her disappointment of a food to see the dark haired boy closing in towards her, the other boy with the lavender coloured eyes was not with him from what she could see. The boy was speaking to her with a smile on his face but no sound was heard from her, she didn't pay attention to what he was saying.
Thinking more about the other boy, they were practically inseparable to each other from the recent interactions she was dragged into by the two. Between the two boy, Sana preferred interacting with Hagami. The boy was more quiet compared to the loud speaking boy known as Giran, the other main reason as well was the lavender eyes providing information with what she lacked.
Nevertheless, she focused her attention back to the boy as he finished his little ranting of something related to the other boy. "-so that's why we're gonna train in one the training grounds and was wondering if you wanted to join?" Giran raised a brow, expecting for an immediate answer from her.
Training against others didn't seem to be a bad idea. It could give her some knowledge in her opponents style of attacks, habits, form, and motion.
She nodded her head, getting a glee from the boy. "I'll come when I finish eating." Sana clarified getting a quick nod from the boy as he rushed outside before giving her the information in where to meet. As she watched the boy leave, and ignored the other kids staring at her due to the loud voice of Giran when speaking to her.
Young children was a nosy bunch and that was not to say she wasn't one as well, but she lacked many things that she could say was kit granted to her immediately; immaturity.
Sana looked back at the food once more before eating a bit of it.
"…disgusting."

It was to Sana's understanding that the two boys; Hagami and Giran were both in the Academy, both striving to become a shinobi. They were a few years older than her; being around 9 years old, and so they possessed knowledge in the years they have completed in the academy.
Sana was more than thankful to receive the notes Hagami had gifted to her to what he believed to be important and crucial rather than taking random notes which wouldn't do much for him.
The three sat down on the empty fields, listening to Hagami. The two boys had already started to take a break before she even arrived to the training ground and so she decided to ask questions related to the veins popping out of the side of Hagami. It was apparently a natural appearance when using the Dōjutsu which was a kekkei genkai (Bloodline Limit). It seems as though there are more people in Hagami's clan having such eyes to receive education in using it. She didn't really know much of what made those eyes of his so special. That was before the boy explain some brief knowledge for her.
From what she has understood so far related to these eyes called the Byakugan; the user possesses a 360º field of vision around themselves and can see the chakra of others as well as their pathway system.
An amazing ability to see both your allies and enemies' current capacity of chakra and the circulation of when chakra is being used. However, "Does seeing the someone's chakra really help you that much in the first place?" It was a blunt question which may have sounded offensive but the lavender-eye boy simply smiled at her question as she listened intently to his small lecture. Though the same could not be said for the other boy who looked be almost dozing off.
"While simply looking at others chakra network may be nothing special, the byakugan aids the user mostly towards the Hyūga clan in their taijutsu type style called the Gentle Fist," Sana hummed at his reply and yet it was not what she was asking, "to answer your question, the byakugan is also able to see the tenketsu; the Chakra Points in order to disrupt the opponents in using of ninjutsu and also disabling their usage of chakra."
Sana looked at him with surprise and the boy simply smiled at her expression even if it was quite difficult to see the girl show much expression. "When saying disabling their chakra, is it similar to pressure points?"
Hagami rubbed his chin for a few seconds before nodding slowly at her words, "You may think of it in the same way of rendering a sort of short paralysis to your opponent when attacking those areas specifically." He pointed to his stomach which had confused her before pointing out that there was a tenketsu in this area as well. "It terms of the tenketsu; by shutting down even one pathway, it will lead to more than numbness and sudden shock, there comes a lack of response in commanding their limbs as well. The Hyūga clan use the Gentle fist martial arts in attacking those areas by either increasing or disrupting the chakra flow completely, which would prevent them from using techniques."
"Trust me when I say it really hurts to even move. I'd rather get punched directly than having my tenketsu being stopped!" Giran waved his hands wildly. It seems as though he had gotten out of his daze for the ending if Hagami's small lecture for her.
"I see…."
"Although there is a way to counter it, which is to force your chakra into the disrupted pathways…though what would happen then, Sana?"
Said girl thought of what information he gave and decided to go through what the process did, "it disables the user in utilising chakra as well as gives them a sort of numbness to their limbs, there is the fact that it would hurt to even move as well then, therfore…they would just be hurting themselves even more?"
"Correct, anyone can force their tenketsu back to normal by pushing their chakra but it will harm them to do so, from what I have experimented on, there doesn't seem to be any other way but to simply get used of such pain if any chakra point is closed."
Giran yawned before standing and stretched his arms. "Anyway, I don't really care about such things since I'll never be able to pull it out, so let's get back to training, Hagami!"
Said boy sighed before dusting off unnoticeable dirt of his clothing and got into a battle stance with his byakugan activating. The two boys stood still while making sure not to reveal any weak spot while Sana walked some distance away to inspect them.
Watching the Gentle fist style in action would give her information in its effectiveness. There was also the byakugan in play which aids that art form in attack which allows the boy to being able to see in every direction, knowing that was helpful in finding enemies hidden as well by being able to see chakra.
It was practically similar to a sensor type from what Sensei gave a brief example of sensing chakra from others.
And so the fight begins….
~XXX~
The fight between the two boys was quite amazing to watch over, while Giran looked to be the more aggressive type and full frontal, in truth he was more relaxed from what Sana could notice from.
Giran had been walking around the lavender eyes who stuck to one position, not moving from his placement. There wasn't any action going on immediately and yet there seem to have been a battle in both their mindsets in how they would go with it.
No matter what though, Hagami didn't seem to be the one who would initiate the battle no matter how long it took. There was a twitch to the hand of Giran's which was then immediately curled tightly before he charged in.
He was quite fast and his fist nearly aimed true to the back of Hagami's head before it was completely slapped to the side by the other boy. A perfect parry which lead to a full frontal thrust of the palm towards the abdomen which the dark haired boy jumped away from before getting his bearings.
Giran soon started the same process of trying to find the perfect spots once more to attack again. It was strange watching how Hagami fought, the Gentle Fist which the boy had spoken about looked to be more of a counter based style from when they are attacked from close range.
'But how does it help from long to mid-distance attacks?' Was Sana's question when watching the battle.
The boy charged again to the side while Hagami watched with pulsing eyes and evaded the right hook that neared him before thrusting two fingers to Giran's forearm. It was clean and precise since the byakugan allowed him to see what he had struck.
However, the did not come out unscathed when Giran took advantage of his chakra point on his right arm being disabled to sneakily throw dirt at the boy's face. The lack of clear visual hindered Hagami and that was all Giran needed as he immediately dropped down for a leg sweep which had caused the Hyūga to tumble to the ground, the boy dropped a knee to the stomach before striking with his good arm with his elbow to the face, one arm was all Hagami used to guard the assault which was easily broken by his strength and tenacity.
A groan of pain was conceded but was unable parry with his positions mangled. Hagami was the first to spill blood and Giran gave a grin which savage-like as he brought his elbow back to hit him once more.
Sana frowned in the way Giran was fighting but did not interrupt, as there didn't seem to be an issue with it as the boy who was bleeding didn't seem to want to stop the brutality. Even so, 'This is quite brutal.'
The flurry of a single elbow attack soon doubled with the stasis of Giran's struck arm was acceptable to move with and so the battle continued with a one sided beatdown. Even then, the Hyūga looked to be waiting for something as he did not guard with his extra arm to protect him. It was weird and perhaps Giran noticed this too as he tried to get up only to notice the unoccupied arm was holding onto his ankle.
The mounted boy didn't seem to be able to get up even if he tried as he started to pant more quickly than his physique showed while the Hyūga who was bruised and beaten give out a sigh of relief.
Sana could not tell what was happening to the dark haired boy as he looked to have lost all strength in his body before he was struck upwards from his chin to the air for a second. The boy fixed his positions with panted breath as he watched the lavender eyes rub the dirt off his face before slowly getting up.
No matter what happened, the fight looked to be going completely different from what was being seen. While Giran was hardly damaged, he looked exhausted, in contrast, Hagami was more energised even when having been beaten to a pulp.
What happened next was basically in short; payback. The difference between in how Hagami started fighting before to now was that he now took the initiative and charged the boy with both two fingers ready. The tip of the fingers containing chakra and trusting to each parts of the chakra pathways.
The dark haired boy tried to dodge and yet his speed before was lowered from the lack of stamina he once had, he screamed in pain with the chakra built up to fail him as he laid down on the floor stuck to watching the blue sky in pain. What she didn't expect was for the boy's expression of aggression to become more passive to a moping child.
"Damn it."
The fight looked to be over, Sana nodded at that and so decided to walk towards the two boys. "I didn't expect it to be so…ferocious."
Hagami gave a small chuckle as he clutched his stomach from the pain he received while turning to her. "I can use a little big medical ninjutsu so there won't be that much of a bruise to be visible." Saying so, his hand produced a green steady flow of chakra to be revealed as he placed it across his wounds to his face and Giran's.
The other boy gave no indication of rejecting the treatment. "Is Giran always so…"
"What?" Turning his head towards her, "A ninja doesn't play fairly, you know." Said boy replied before walking off before all his wounds could be healed. "I'm going to the bathroom."
"Sorry about him, I know what you're thinking. I thought the same thing as well over the years wherever we were together, he's become somewhat power hungry ever since he found out of my improvements of the Gentle Fist and its application with my other jutsu." He rubbed his eyes from the sting of dirt being floored to his face before healing it, "However, he's not wrong in how he fights. A shinobi will be dirty if it means they can defeat the opponent, no matter how foul it is."
"…He became more tired than I thought, it was completely strange with how hyper he is."
Again the boy chuckled as the green glow he produced in his had subsided which showed little bruises and pain if not noticing or focusing at such things. "That would be my doing, the jutsu I used absorbs chakra from when I place contact by my hands." He placed his hand out as he stared at her, Sana answered the silent request and placed her hand on top only to furrow her brows when she felt her energy being sucked away. "It's called the Chakra Absorption Jutsu. I would called it a mid-rank type technique since it provides an advantage against people in lasting longer."
"Amazing."
"There is however the risk of your own chakra being harmed though as you are taking in chakra from something foreign to your own. It's probably the reason why others don't learn such a jutsu to begin with as they didn't understand the hidden next step towards it."
"Do you mean adjusting the different chakra to make it easier?"
"Indeed that is correct, essentially I siphon the chakra I absorb to reduce the minimum exposure of foreign chakra coming my way. it's one of my key style of attack against hyperactive opponents who have the stamina to constantly go at it while also having myself consistently absorb their chakra to last longer than them." He wiped the blood of his lip before dusting his hands together, "With a smaller reserve of chakra compared to Giran, I had to compensate for something and that allowed me to improve myself even further."
The boy winded his arm before she heard a small pop noise which caused some relief to him, the muscle tension must have been big. "I'm sure you also noticed of the disadvantages with the Hyūga's common art form which is for usually close range based attack. Make no mistake that there is a way to correct such disadvantages with the next level of art form however, I am unable to figure it out since it's only gifted to the Main Compound of the clan."
Sana listened to his every words and thought of one way to describe this boy; a hard working child. "Hagami," Because she now knew he was a hard working child, she decided he was the second best choice to learn from, "please teach me." She bowed before the boy.

All it took was a few months to realise just how drastic, life in the orphanage was yet again. What was thought to be out of greed for both the Matron and Caretakers looked to be more justified than outright taking kids possession of sentimental value which was distributed to others, in their own words; "They needed it more."
It did not help that clothes which she had stashed away in her bed was taken from her as well. A complaint only led to less food and her time being demanded to complete chores.
There looked to be a rhythm theme going around the orphanage when Sana returned from her night time training to morning. They did not provide any time for her education unlike Giran and the others his age with similar builds, she would have thought she was the odd one out in this treatment but that too was wrong as well. More than half of the children here was too in the same situation and they could do nothing as they lacked the power to do anything without this place which they called their last saving grace for a home.
"Should I kill them." She had mumbled that offhandedly when she felt slight anger appearing when the caretakers noticed her being more disobedient than the rest. She would not stand it, but alas she held it in for if not for Hagami himself visiting more than usual to provide simple instructions and education he got himself which she gladly absorbed.
The treatment of neglect was nothing new for her and yet she felt confused as to why they did so. Hagami was of no use of the matter as he lived by himself during the time his parents decided to be wanting out of the household. He was technically an orphan after the death of his parents which he spoke no further into as it was personal to him.
The only one who could actually answer her question was one who was living in the building and would actually communicate with her; Giran. Perhaps he had never been treated as so and never really noticed it until she spoke it out. Sana was an anomaly to the other children but compared to her, most of the kids knew of the boy so him gaining information through his links would aid her.
It didn't take long for her to understand why this was happening. When the orphanage accepted her in, they were meant to ask her a series of questions. One of them was if she wished to join the academy and train to become a ninja. They perhaps already speculated the answer being no due to her small stature.
She returned to her frequent training ground in the afternoon rather than when everyone was ready to rest for the day in the night, the stares Sana felt was heavier. Perhaps it was the young adult scarecrow shinobi who sometimes appeared without her notice, she didn't care. Her heart was truly crying out of disgust at the moment.
"No one is treated the same," she realised this even more when looking at others, Sana's fists were clenched, her teeth grinding tightly. Annoyance, that is what she felt when looking at the people staring at her in the orphanage.
Was is so strange to object to their way of thinking, was this the way for a village, a leader of others to take control of others, provide the privileged with more in front of them in order to force children with no choice but to risk their lives. Sana looked at the sky with disdain in her heart, "What was the reason for fighting?" She could only ponder at the question. "Do people not value their own lives?" She only wished to survive, if she could do something else then she would have done so, but that too was not a reality for her to choose.
~XXX~
Her usual place to go and train was not where she had arrived to. The field looked the same as it always was; dummies and targets, but with an addition of something else with it.
The thrown weapons such as a kunai or a shuriken was seen embedded to a target with three people occupying it; two older kids and a boy who was around her age, or older perhaps.
They wore a somewhat fan symbol on their back of their clothing which meant they were of a clan of some sort. If what she remembered was correct from the shorts tutoring Sana received from Hagami, they were from a renowned clan of the village in the leaves called; Uchiha.
Hagami seemed to have some sort of distaste towards them and that was quite a surprising thing for her to see when the boy had talked about them. For the dark-haired girl's opinion of the current three people she stared at in secret on top of a tree branch, they looked to be quite stoic in their emotions, and yet she could still see glimpse of a smiles in their stoic expression they held themselves with.
The two older boys out of the three looked have been having a simple spar of some sort while the boy her age was by the side anticipating the results of the battle between them. No doubt that this spar of theirs' must of been on a whim from his request if anything else.
It was rude of her to stay hidden and watch the fight which was probably a personal matter to them but in Sana's head, she felt as though she should watch the end results. Learn in what they were capable and grasp the knowledge they both have contained.
Even then, the fight between the two boys was still a spar and nothing else but a kunai at hand with no lethal jutsu being applied. The way they moved their limbs was fast, coordinated and she could see glimpses of the eyes of the two flash red in brief nanosecond.
'What was that?' She could only watch with amazement as the spar escalated even further to a speed she could not comprehend with sparks being the only thing that she could entail of a clash of their weapon meeting.
The way the tallest of the two simply arriving at the others hidden spot as if he teleported, how could he comprehend his awareness to what's around him at that speed, how was it possible to react so quickly? They were questions she thought of while holding her life question of becoming a ninja at bay.
What she has seen has only showed her the fact of her current abilities. She was not good enough to survive, she did not possess a genetic tool that made her special. Sana continued to think such things once more while noticing the three Uchiha finally leaving the training ground.
XXX
She was unable to hear the words they said clearly as she kept her distance in order to not get noticed. The words they spoke was more of a quiet mumble to her which she couldn't interpret, and she sighed for not having used her chakra to enhance her hearing to at least get an idea of what was spoken.
Shaking her head, she slapped both her cheeks with her hands and remembered the way the tallest out of the three Uchiha moved his body. Every move was precise in countering attacks which was provided more opening for lethal strikes.
Luckily, shinobi clans which was renowned was basically rich so having picked up the scrapped of chipped kunai and shuriken for practice was a sort of grace to her.
Sana closed her eyes in front of the training dummy and imagined it to be a human, an image of someone she acknowledged. Her image bore fruit in being taken place of the dummy. She channelled her chakra to her body and allowed herself to move her arms slowly to a stance.
Each swipe of an arm towards the many wooden poles of the dummy started to rotate slowly before she blocked them with immediate timing. She continued to perform the same action before adding kicks toward the lower pole, each slow progression became fast till she started to evade the pole's speed and block the others which she felt to be the better action.
She could feel some sort of enlightenment to this speed of training. The human that she pictured using every moves to use her strength against her. She continued to punch with more force, block faster, kicker swifter, and dodge quicker.
The move she imitated from the Uchiha was sluggish at best in her own opinion and yet it was almost as if the style was based on speed itself. No, she knew this style was made for speed and she smiled in glee of her new achievement.
She tilted her head to the object nearing her head and watched as the target near her be hit dead centre. What?
*THUNK!*
The dark haired girl's reaction was halted for a split second which allowed the dummy to strike her head with no hesitation. The girl cried in pain, falling to the ground roughly.
Her violet eyes holding tears looking at the muffled voice that neared her. "Hehe sorry about that, you okay?" What kind of cheerful question was that when the boy was the reason for her current pain. "You gave quite a show for me to see." He extended a hand to her.
The addressed girl, sighed before waving the hand away and crossed her legs. "I was doing some practice with something I saw. That's all." The pain on her head was pulsing which made the wound seem as of if it's alive.
The boy chuckled. "Something you saw, eh?" he repeated and casually plopped himself to the ground sitting in front of her. "I guess I should complement you in copying my moves," he laughed this time when noticing a small blush coming to her face, "you kind of remind me of my best friend."
"Best friend? Sana asked politely, looking at the boy directly. Looking closely, he was a way older than just a few years, a teenager.
From what Hagami said, the Uchiha were all arrogant amongst other shinobi due to their special Kekkei genkai. From her perspective, the teenager before doesn't seem to express any sort of haughtiness to his tone or expression. Nevertheless, the lavender eye would definitely be appalled seeing him.
"Yeah," the Uchiha answered. "Itachi is consistency serious with everything he does. He needs to loosen up more, you know." Sana blinked at the name, "Was the other person with you Itachi?"
The teenager raised an eyebrow. "The very same," he eyed her curiously. "I'm surprised you didn't know of him since everyone in the Academy always talks about him during their starting year."
"I wouldn't know of that, since I'm not in the Academy." That caused a surprised expression to be shown to his face more clearly, "What, how come?" He looked at her shrewdly only for Sana to give her a flat look.
The Uchiha teen raised his both of his hands defensively. "Hey now, no need to look at me like that. I'm just saying that it's weird you can use your chakra that well for someone your age." What he said wasn't a lie but the way the boy was so defensive in front of her made her snort.
That caused a grin to appear on the teen. "It's true! I'm Shisui, by the way. He brought his hand out again while introducing himself.
"Sana," she answered, clasping her hand with his own as they both shook each other. "Nice to meet you."
"You too," Shisui leaned forward and whispered as if asking for a secret. "So where did you learn to use Chakra so well?"
"Someone taught me the basics." Shisui's mouth turned to a small grin. "Heh~" he scanned his hand which shook her own. "Basically, self-taught huh. That's amazing."
Sana smiled at the compliment. "Thank you, but I can't compare myself to you."
"You don't need to compare yourself to me in the first place, I've been in this lifestyle for way more years than you," Shisui brought his hand to her head and caressed it. "I'd say you'll be able to catch up to me if you train hard."
"Really?" Sana asked, her violet eyes shining brightly. The teen laughed before standing up from the ground.
"I'm sure you will," he stretched his limbs and got into the stance she had tried to imitate. "In fact, I'll give you some tips right now."
Sana's eyes beamed as she got up immediately before bowing, "Thank you so much."
*SPLURT!*
"Ah/Huh" Sana looked up again as she felt something trickle down her forehead.
"Maybe I should bandage you up first."
A/N: So I don't really know what to say at this moment of others reading my story but just I hope you continue to enjoy my fiction. The first comment I received didn't seem to be what I expected when I posted my first chapter being negative in general, all I can say to that is if you do not wish to read the story then no one is forcing you to continue to do so. In other words, stop wasting you time. It won't really do much for any of you since I post these chapter for my own enjoyment and for others to experience that same emotion when reading so.
To those who have decided to stick around and looking forwards to the next chapter as so on, I am more than appreciative for any ideas you may come up with that I can add to my story, in fact I encourage you to do since I don't think of myself to be that imaginative when thinking of ideas. I've based Sana to being flexible and quick on her feet which is quite effective as a future ninja, there is also the fact that I'm still deciding in how to go around the relationship between the other OC characters such as Hagami and Giran since they are to be a sort of inspiration for Sana in becoming stronger and being motivated in certain circumstances.
Finally, the story will in fact contain more than just Sana training and fighting, there will be drama scenes and emotional impacts that changes the character from the series as well as Sana herself. So overall, all I can say for last is that I hope you can continue to read this story and if you feel that you are not in to this type of theme story than I can respect that. Once again, there's no need for hate comments since I would simple take a glance and leave it at that.
Hope you guys enjoyed the story and see you next time!
