Welcome back to the next chapter! Hope you enjoyed the first one and well this one will reveal what Eggman has in store for Tails and Sonic learning of the news…
So buckle up and lets get to it!
Chapter 2: Going Alone
As Tails regained consciousness , he woke up in a setting which was unfamiliar to him, everything a little blurry at first, but as his eyes began to focus, it was a lab or workshop of sorts, but not his own. The next thing Tails noticed was that he was tied down to a lab table, his arms, legs, even tails held down, unable to move as Tails tried to escape to no avail.
"Whoever you are, you better let me go or you'll be sorry!" Tails shouted as from the shadows came a big fat human scientist…
"Oh I don't think I will be, Mr. Prower…" A voice spoke as the person revealed himself to be none other than Eggman.
"Eggman!" Tails angrily shouted as he struggled even more to break free of his bonds.
"It's no use Tails, nothing can break your ties." Eggman laughed as Tails stayed defiant.
"Whatever your plans are with me, it won't work, Sonic will come and save me and then he'll kick your butt!" Tails declared, knowing it was only a matter of time til Sonic came racing to save him.
"Oh I'm actually counting on it, you see Tails, my plans are for Sonic and you're a key part of them…" Eggman chuckled as Cubot and Orbot brought up a rolling cart with tools and a mask… "I'm going to be making some special modifications to you…" Eggman told Tails as the fox was actually scared now, while Eggman turned on his tools to begin the procedure…
Meanwhile, with it being a brand new day, Sonic was racing as he reached Tails' workshop to see his buddy and just to hang out with him. Sonic knew with constantly fighting Eggman, he and Tails didn't have a chance to just hang out for awhile now and Sonic loved just spending time with his best friend. As Sonic arrived he called out to his pal.
"Hey Tails, you in there, I thought we could spend some time together." Sonic called out as no yellow fox appeared. "Strange…" Sonic thought as he then noticed the front door was actually open, pushing it and coming inside.
Sonic searched all throughout the workshop, expecting to find Tails, maybe he was still sleeping, but nothing as Sonic then noticed some tools laying about on the floor near the door to the small hangar which had the Tornado. Sonic knew Tails wouldn't just leave his tools like that as Sonic then stepped into the hangar where the Tornado was still there, so the hedgehog knew the fox didn't go out flying.
"Okay Sonic, maybe he went to Restoration HQ, to help Amy and the others." Sonic thought as then raced over to the HQ, hoping to find Tails there.
As Sonic arrived, asking anyone there if they saw Tails, his worries grew as no one did see Tails this day, Sonic coming to the command center where Amy was and of course the female hedgehog didn't' see Tails also.
"Sorry Sonic, the last time I saw Tails was yesterday when he came with you." Amy explained.
"This doesn't make sense…" Sonic thought. "Tails wouldn't just disappear like this…" Sonic putting a hand to his chin as suddenly someone got an alert for an incoming message.
"Ma'am…" A creature at one of the computers called over to Amy. "We have an incoming message from a frequency I don't recognize."
"Put it through." Amy ordered as the creature got the message on screen and to the surprise of Amy, but not Sonic, it was Eggman…
"Hello Sonic, by now you must be wondering where your sidekick is…" Eggman taunted. "I captured him and if you want him back, you're going to have to get him…"
Sonic curled his hands into fists as he couldn't believe the mad scientist got his hands on the fox, emotions ran through the blue hedgehog as the scientist continued speaking.
"I have him at this abandoned warehouse of mine, at this location." Eggman bringing up a map and image of the building. "And come alone or else… Well lets just say Mr. Prower won't be in good condition… I'll be waiting rodent…" And the message shut off as Sonic, without a word, began to go.
"Sonic, wait, think about this, it's obviously a trap for you like last time, you're going to need help, maybe see if Knuckles can come from Angel Island or I can call Tangle and Whisper…" Amy began making suggestions, but Sonic stopped her.
"This is different than before, this is something I need to do alone no matter what, I can't let anything happen to Tails, who knows what Eggman has done to him already…" Sonic trying not to imagine how much pain his buddy already went through. "I'm going alone, if I'm not back in a couple of days you can send as much help as you want." And Sonic left, not giving Amy a chance to say another word as Sonic walked out of Restoration HQ. "Don't worry buddy, I'm coming, just hang on…" Sonic said as he took a deep breath before racing to the location Eggman sent to HQ.
As Sonic raced as fast as he could to save Tails, he began to wonder what kind of trap Eggman had in store for him, the hedgehog just hoped that Tails wouldn't get hurt in the process, if he wasn't already that is… However Sonic knew Tails was just as tough as he was, he wouldn't break down easily as so many others would have. And Sonic figured as soon as he freed Tails, he could get a little payback on Eggman for even thinking he could get away with such a crime.
While Sonic ran towards the location, Eggman himself was at his own base, waiting for any news as what he got delighted him very much…
"Doctor, Sonic took the bait, reports are coming that he is closing in on the location you pointed out." Orbot reported.
"Excellent, soon that rodent will be gone and there is nothing he can do to stop what I have in store for him…" Eggman smiled as he pressed a button on the control panel in front of him, speaking into a microphone. "Come in Tails, are you ready?"
At the abandoned warehouse, Tails was there in the dimly lit inside, just waiting for word as he heard Eggman through the communication device.
"Yes." Tails answered.
"Now remind me again…" Eggman asked Tails. "What is your one and only mission?"
"To follow your every command and destroy Sonic the Hedgehog…" Tails answered as he raised one of his hands… Which had a bracelet, holding a weapon…
It was at that exact moment when Tails heard the entrance to the warehouse open up, letting in a little more light as Tails just waited where he was as this surely meant the arrival of Sonic, who would have to face his own friend in a fight…
And I'll leave it there for next time!
