Hey everyone! What's up!?
Well here we go… Sonic will have to fight his best friend… But don't worry… This isn't going to be the last fight between them, you'll see what I mean by that soon enough!
Anyway, before continuing on, a quick thank you to pikabutt and Pybro2 for the favs and/or follows!
Now onto the story!
Chapter 3: Sonic vs. Tails
As Sonic looked inside the warehouse, he was surprised to not see any badniks or traps waiting for him as he stepped inside carefully, he was aware this was a trap as he kept a cautious lookout for anything. Sonic was of course rightfully confused, surely Eggman wouldn't want him to take Tails this easily without something up his sleeve…
"Okay Eggman, I know you can hear me, where is my friend!?" Sonic shouted as sure enough from the loudspeaker system in the warehouse came the doctor's voice.
"Just keeping looking you'll find him…" Eggman chuckled as Sonic looked around, not seeing any sign of Eggman or Tails. "Oh and you might be wondering by now why I haven't sent anything against you, well you'll find that answer when you see your foxy friend…" Eggman added as Sonic didn't like the sound of that, now thinking Eggman did something terrible to Tails…
It never crossed Sonic's mind that only Tails was the only other being in the warehouse and he was just waiting for Sonic to arrive to him…
Sonic spent more and more time searching the vast warehouse, which was a little difficult because the further Sonic went in, the darker it got. Eventually Sonic turned a corner between two rows of storage, where there was a flicking overhead light and on the other side of where the light shone, Sonic could make out the outline of his friend…
"Tails!" Sonic happily called out. "There you are, come on lets get out of here." Sonic urged his friend, relieved to see he was alright.
"Are you proud of me Sonic?" The voice of Tails spoke, in a tone that Sonic didn't recognize, but he didn't think anything bad of it at first…
"What?" Sonic confused why Tails would ask that now in this situation. "Of course I am, now come on lets go."
"He was right…" Tails raising his voice a little as he turned around and stepped slowly into the light and that's when Sonic could see Tails…
Tails wasn't himself as he had a half mask covering the right side of his face and a bracelet of sorts on his right arm as well, to Sonic he looked like a cyborg and Sonic became upset at Eggman that he did this to his friend, hoping it wasn't permanent. Hopefully now wasn't the time to be upset at Eggman, now was the time to get Tails out of this…
"Eggman told me that all you care about is my abilities, the fact that you use me to gain an upper hand in the fights against him and risk my life needlessly…" Tails, or evil Tails now, snarled as Sonic couldn't believe it because it wasn't true…
"Tails, snap out of it, this isn't you!" Sonic urged his real friend to come out and overcome whatever programming Eggman put in.
"You're wrong… I never felt more like myself…" Evil Tails smiled as he raised his right arm with the bracelet. "Say goodbye Sonic the Hedgehog…" And with that Tails began to fire the weapon installed in the bracelet, luckily Sonic managed to dodge the fire and speed away as Tails didn't waste a second and began chasing after Sonic, of course using his tails to fly.
"No wonder why it was all so easy." Sonic finally putting the pieces together as he had to admit… Eggman turning his best friend against him was smart… There was no way Sonic could bring himself to fight or hurt Tails… "I need some way to shut Tails off or at least stop him long enough for me to bring him back to HQ…" Sonic began thinking as more fire came towards him.
Sonic looked back to see Tails hot on him, bent on hitting the speeding blue hedgehog as Sonic ran all through the large warehouse. Sonic had to come on with something fast before Tails could land a hit as the fire came closer and closer.
"You can run, but you can't hide!" Evil Tails shouted as he continued chasing after Sonic.
Meanwhile Eggman was watching the whole thing through hidden video cameras, just delighted at how easily Sonic was unable to fight back, not that he was in the first place.
"It's only a matter of minutes until Sonic is finally destroyed and what's better is that the cause is from his own friend." Eggman laughed victoriously. "Maybe after Sonic is destroyed, I can use Tails to deal with the rest of that rodent's friends…" Eggman began thinking of the future as back with Sonic and Tails, they were continuing their running and flying as Tails managed to slowly catch up with Sonic.
"Face it, you can't lose me…" Tails taunted as Sonic knew he was running out of time as Sonic turned corners and down in the alleyways between storage rows.
"I need something and fast…" Sonic told himself as he spotted something up ahead, but first he knocked down some boxes which were very dusty in Tails' path, causing the fox to stop for a couple of seconds, coughing as he waved the dust away.
As Tails regained his vision, he saw Sonic had stopped, trapped with nowhere to go against the side of a row of storage, just standing there. However if Tails haven't been slowed down, he would have noticed that Sonic had done something to the storage row. Standing there Sonic tried one last time to get the real Tails back as he held up his hands in surrender, showing he didn't want to fight.
"Tails listen to me, whatever Eggman did to you, we can fix it back at HQ…" Sonic pleaded. "Remember all the adventures and fun we had together, you're more than just my sidekick Tails, you're my best friend, come back…"
"Best friend…" Tails replying as he lowered his head for a second, but then bringing it back up as he stepped closer to Sonic. "I have no friends… I serve Eggman now…"
"I thought you would change, but I guess not…" Sonic sighed as he then unexpectedly smiled. "And I'm sorry for what I'm going to do…" Sonic told Tails who was confused momentarily as he had his weapon raised, but that quick second Sonic needed was all as Sonic then kicked the storage row behind him, hard…
And it came crashing down onto Sonic and Tails, well only Tails because since Sonic had unscrewed the bolts holding the storage row in place, he knew to run as fast as possible away, which was more than enough time for him, not so for Tails. Evil Tails now being trapped under all the boxes and old equipment stored away as Sonic, free from the falling storage row looked on, not seeing Tails, but it was no time to find out if he was okay…
"I will bring you back Tails…" Sonic whispered as a tear fell from an eye as Sonic escaped the warehouse back to HQ…
With Eggman, who had witnessed the whole thing, he was a little upset, but he knew this was just a temporary setback and his plan did work… Sonic was unable to face having to fight his friend despite Tails bent on destroying Sonic. The next time the two would have to face each other, Sonic definitely would have no choice but to fight in order to save himself.
"Doctor, Sonic has escaped." Cubot reported, which Eggman knew already.
"Don't you think I know that!?" Eggman shouted.
"What now?" Orbot asked.
"We dig out Tails from there and bring him back, wait for Sonic's next move, I have this feeling he will call us this time…" Eggman guessed as he looked froward to the next time Sonic and Tails would meet.
Meanwhile Sonic had reached Restoration HQ, where Amy was actually outside desperately waiting for Sonic and hopefully Tails, but she didn't see the fox as Sonic stopped in front of her, panting as Amy came froward, wanting answers.
"Sonic, what happened, where's Tails?" Amy asked.
"Eggman turned him against us, me…" Sonic informing the female hedgehog. "He turned my best friend against me…" Sonic cried, the pain reaching him in ways he never thought possible as Sonic felt lost, anger and sadness clawing his way into him as inside he just knew he needed to get Tails back, but how was the question…
What's Sonic going to do now that he knows Tails has turned against him and is with Eggman, although not of his own choice, well you're going to have to wait and see for next time!
