Lady Countryrose
Ch. 17
After all the classes were over and done with. She noticed the strain that was Anne's eyes. So, she grabbed Anne and led them into the library. Where she noticed a massive difference in Anne. Before they found a far back corner table and sat near a window.
"Are you doing alright," asked Hermione with a hint of worry.
Anne had taken a deep breath. Looking out the window before, she faced her. A smile graced her lips. "Stress from first day jitters, Hermione. I will be alright."
Hermione didn't believe what she was hearing. But hoped for Anne's sake that things will calm down for her, soon. She looked exhausted.
"If you say so," Hermione lamely replied. Before going off to get a few books. She came back with some and gave one to Anne to read, on medical remedies. While she read on how to find lost relics.
It was then that Severus came and sat down, next to Anne. Reading over her shoulder. While he lists a few things on a parchment.
Hermione grinned, she knew what he was up to. He was going to use potions to help Anne. Over the summer, against Hermione's better judgment, allowed Severus to help with potions. Only for him to make them better, than what the book has written. She was about to yell at him for doing things off the books.
Severus had told her. "They may have the recipe down that way, Hermione. But there is always room for improvement. That is why we have to understand what's going into a potion. How do they act and is there an alternative, if someone has a bad reaction to an ingredient. It is not that much different from cooking."
Hermione hated to agree with him. He was right in so many ways. But there was a small part of her that wanted to fight him. Because he was her cold-hearted professor, who she wanted to prove that he was wrong. But she knew that was childish. Now that, he was a far cry from that man.
Anne glanced over her shoulder to Severus. She moved the book over to him. Before, she had gotten up and looked for a new book.
Severus looked around for Anne. "What happened?"
Hermione smiled softly, shaking her head. "Anne never liked people leaning over her."
"Oh," gasped Severus with worry. "So, it's not against me?"
Hermione shook her head. "Nope. Just her not used to people being so near. I think it's because of joint pain issues. She winced away from me, when she wasn't ready for a hug."
Severus nodded his head in understanding. Before he went back to his reading. Anne came back with a different book on potions and gave it to Severus. The one that followed the book that he had taken over. With a smile, he gave back her book that she was reading.
After a couple of hours, it was where Lily Evans had found them. She had a worried look on her face. Before she sat down next to Hermione. She looked over her shoulder then turned to the group.
"Anne, what is going on? What is this about health problems," the redhead asked. "Is that why Mum was making different meals for everyone?"
Anne nodded her head. "Yeah," she sighed out. "Let me guess, Sirius finally blew up?"
Lily nodded her head. "He went as far as going to see Madam Promfry at the Hospital Wing. He asked her a bunch of questions. Only for her to give him something to calm his own stress."
Hermione glanced over to Anne. Only to see her holding her emotions in check. She had to give it to her. Anne looked calm and in control. "What else," asked Anne with a hint of an edge to her voice.
Lily sighed, "He got himself a detention, when he nearly fired off a few spells at a couple Slytherins."
Anne's eyes flashed in anger. Before she started to grab her belly from the rush of anger. "Ouch," she hissed out. "Did anyone get hurt?"
Lily blinked at her with worry in her eyes. "Iā¦think you should go to see the nurse, Anne."
Severus grabbed Anne, while Hermione grabbed everyone's things. Then took Anne to the Hospital Wing. Where Madam Promfry looked worried. Before giving Anne a few vials to help. But asked Anne to check in, once a week.
By then it was dinner time. Where Anne looked at each of the foods with a logical look to things. Before she settled on Shepherd's Pie, with her lavender lemonade.
Hermione looked over at the Gryffindor table. Only see Lily looking worried, same as Remus. James looked split. While Sirius looked oddly detached to everyone around him.
'Did he really have feelings for Anne?' Hermione couldn't help but think about his behavior.
Severus glared at the other table. Only to wrap an arm around Anne, in a protective manner. "You don't need him, if he can't support you."
Anne smiled up at him. "Thank you, Sev." Sounding a bit tired to Hermione's ears.
After dinner, they had gone up to Ravenclaw tower and did some homework. Then off to bed. It was a long day for everyone.
