Last Night
"Close your eyes," Lily whispered.
James rolled over to face her, taking her in his arms. He kissed her gently on her forehead and stroked her back.
"Close my eyes?" He said. "How could I possibly bring myself to close my eyes when I've got you to look at?"
"James Potter, my you do flirt!" Lily said, smiling.
"Mmm. You're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, you know that?" James said.
"Still? I wonder when that's going to come to an end." Lily teased.
"Around about fifty-eight, I suspect."
"Bastard." Said Lily, swatting James' arm and laughing.
"Or never." James amended, and Lily smiled at him.
She traced his jaw line from the middle of his chin up to his ear, and then followed his neck down to the collarbone, where she spread her palm across his chest.
"I love you," James whispered.
"I love you, too, James." Lily said, and she kissed him softly, lovingly.
There was a crash somewhere in the house.
"What was that?" Lily gasped.
"I don't know," James replied, but he was already out of bed, holding his wand and putting his glasses on. His wand was pointed at the door. "Go get Harry," he said as he took off to the front door. As Lily ran the other way, towards her son's room, she saw a green light flash on all the walls. She ran faster. He would not take her son.
