"Hello San Francisco!" Emma Nelson screeched from the balcony of a two bedroom spacious apartment. The apartment complex was twelve stories high, so to Emma, being on the top floor looking down on the lit city, she felt as if she were on top of the world. Unbelievable. Her face warm with excitement, happily invited the wind to blow against her peach complection. She couldn't remember a time when she felt as happy or joyful as she did now. Here she was in California sharing an awesome place with two of her best friends as well as her boyfriend. A year ago she pictured herself in Toronto or Montreal going to University, and yet, her she was. She was smiling so much she felt as if her cheeks were going to fall off in exhaustion. This is amazing. Absolutely amazing, she thought the herself, what a complete natural high...

"Emma, calm yourself. We haven't even lit any shit up yet." A red head laughed as she stepped onto the balcony accompanying her and interrupting her thoughts. Ellie Nash, one of her best friends, stood by the sliding glass door with her hands stashed in her pockets. Emma smiled and Ellie smiled in return. The Emma ran up to her and embraced her friend in a hug, Ellie quickly removed her hands from her pockets and gave Emma a tight squeeze.

"Can you believe it, El?" Emma had loosened her grip on the hug, but then linked her arm with Ellie's and led her to railing. "We're actually here." she continued.

"I know." Ellie looked at Emma and noticed how truly happy she was. This made her happy as well.

"God. This is so amazing..." her voice trailed off into the silence of the night minus the noise of cars buzzing past on the street below.

"It really is." Ellie looked out onto to city and then back inside the apartment. "Come on, it's cold out here." she started to drag Emma back inside the house. "Plus...Jay's opening a case of beers."

"And how could I say 'no' to a nice, cold, Bud Light?" Emma giggled and followed her friend into the surprisingly large living room which connected to the kitchen with a bar. Even though they just moved in, they managed to snag four bar stools on sale at a resale shop downtown when they discovered that their place had a bar. At the same place they bought a couch, two chairs, and a coffee table, pretty much furnishing their living room with the exception of a TV and sound system that they brought with them.

Emma plopped herself down on a stool at the far end of the bar next to her other best friend, Alex Nunez. Alex wore a simple outfit of tight jeans and a white muscle tank. Emma turned her head in Alex's direction then looked past Alex to Ellie, and then looked right in front of her where a beer was placed on a napkin. She smiled to the person behind the bar then leaned over to give them a nice little kiss on the lips. Seriously, she began to think again, me and Jay Hogart together? Never thought that would happen in a million years. Yeah...we hooked up at the ravine once, but this was more than oral sex and STDs. This was love...or at least it had major love potential.
