Chapter start
Ruby and Guts stood over a fall cliff in the Ruby had her hood up. Guts stood not far behind her
Ruby lowered her hood and smiled sadly "Hey, mom. Sorry I haven't come by in a while. Things have been... well, things have been, pretty busy. Oh, Dad's here, too! He's, uh, you know... Dad." Ruby shrugged and continued
"He's still teaching at Signal. But he told me that he's going to be on some mission soon. I think he misses adventuring with you…I miss you too." She said as Guts put a hand on her shoulder
"Haven't gotten kicked out of Beacon yet! So that's cool. I think being on a team with Yang helps. I Keep her in line... That was a joke. She's actually a really great fighter! You can tell she's learned a lot from Dad! Oh, so are Weiss and Blake. Oh! They're my teammates! Together, we form Team RWBY! And yes, before you ask, that does cause a lot of confusion. Anyways, I made a bunch of new friends, and then I met some... let's just say, uh, odd teachers. Oh! We've also stopped some bad guys, too! I guess it's like they say: "like mother, like daughter"! I still wonder why Ozpin let me into the school early no wait actually I do know but we'll…it's kinda embarrassing. But uh, Istill fine. You know how he is. It's funny, the more I get to know him, the more he's starting to sound like Uncle Qrow. Oh right sorry this is my Boyfriend Guts." Ruby said as she pushed him forward
Guts smiled and knelt down touching the gravestone "hello Summer. As Ruby introducted I'm Ruby's boyfriend. Apparently she has a lot in common with you including if legend's are to be believed a high sex drive." Guts was cut off with an elbow from Ruby to tried to play it off.
"Anyways there's something that we know about the Vytal festival happening and we need to stop it and I promise you I will keep your daughter safe both on the battlefield and in the bedroom." Guts said
From behind a bark was heard as both Guts and Ruby turned to see Zwie waiting with Taiyang
"Oh! Looks like Dad's back! I gotta go! He's dropping me off at Beacon for the tournament match before he goes on his next mission. Wish me luck!" Ruby said as she turned away and pulls up her hood before turning back saying "it was good to talk."
As Birds flew off In the distance…
As Ruby landed at the collussium Ruby and Guts separated
Apparently to get hype for the tournament going they ran a poll to see who was favored to win across all the fighters
Apparently whoever won they would have an interview with Lisa Lavender. Before the first match.
Both Ruby and Pyrrha won by a landslide.
So the day before the first match Ruby had to come back to vale early for a prerecorded interview
Then after both their team matches they will be interviewed live to see if their opinions changed during the fights.
It was so sudden that Ruby didn't have time for her daily warmup practice with Guts deciding instead to go to her mothers grave to talk.
Which was way Ruby was sitting in stage next to Pyrrha and across from Lisa.
The camera signaled action and Lisa introduced herself
"Greetings I'm Lisa Lavender here for a look into who is favored to win. Which after a full week of polling we now have an exclusive interview with the fighters themselves. So let me introduce you to my guests, Ms Pyrrha Nikos and Ruby Rose."
As she spoke the camera panned back to reveal them sitting.
"Welcome you two it's good to have you with me this morning." Lisa said
Pyrrha smiled and talked for herself and Ruby.
"It's a honor to be here."
Lisa smiled "alright let's get toot talking about the Goliath in the room. You know the poll results but I want your insight of the two of you who is favored to win the Festival?"
Instantly both fighters name each other.
Lisa smiled "I see there is no deep resentment going into this." She said lighthearted
"Oh no there is but I got over it." Pyrrha shrugged
"Oh! do tell." Lisa said always interested in drama.
"It's um quite personal and not something I'm proud of so I'd rather not." Pyrrha said
Lisa nodded "very well. Well then tell me are you excited for this?" She asked
"I've been known for my tournament circuit for a while and after a bit it just becomes another fight." Pyrrha shrugged
Ruby nodded "yeah I have to agree with Pyrrha on that."
Lisa looked at the other "so you don't believe there will be an upset group that comes in?" Lisa asked
Ruby and Pyrrha shook their heads
Lisa tried to talk to Ruby about other major fights but Ruby brushed it off and asked she save it for the live interview.
Lisa nodded as she smiled "very well and do you know when your matches are going to be?"
Pyrrha looked at Ruby.
"I believe yours is at 8 and I'm at 9:30 maybe 10." Pyrrha said
Ruby nodded "that seems right."
"Very well perhaps we can continue this interview during intermission?" Lisa suggested
"I think that would be grand." Pyrrha said
Ruby shrugged "it would be something to watch, I'm game." She said
"Excellent, I'll see you ladies then." Lisa said as she ended the show.
The next day it was game day team RWBY and ABRN were on the field as the first ones there.
And before the match The commentators Professor Port and Dr. Oobleck went over the stats and likely outcomes of the match.
"Welcome everyone to the 40th annual Vytal Festival tournament. I'm your host Peter Port!"
"And Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck." Oobleck said
"And let's get this show underway!" Port cheered.
"Our first match up is going to be quite a Doozy between a Teams favored to win no less. Team RWBY vs Team ABRN." Port said
"Yes I believe it's best we go over some numbers before we start." Oobleck said
"Right you are my friend, Right you are." Port said
"Now team ABRN of Haven is number 28th in combat class with each member holding individual higher than that with there lowest at rank 17 and there highest at rank 7. it seems they will be more suited for the individual or doubles rounds."
"That is if they get there." Oobleck said
"Right but the road they travel is filled with big obstacles and there first is a steep climb as they start off facing against Team RWBY in an team elimination round," Port said
Behind him the rankings of the team appeared
"Team RWBY is indeed favored to win and it's clear why." Port said
"Team Rwby is ranked number one, not just in Class. In Combat class, not even the Year. But First overall, They are the only team that holds a Flawless Undefeated title in combat coming into the tournament." Oobleck said counting the achievements on his fingers
"and if that's not enough each member holds the 1-4 spot in combat as well." Port added
"We will discuss each member's Win-loss. Their fighting style and how they are integral to the team.
Going in order from weakest to strongest we start with Weiss Schnee." Oobleck said
"Indeed while Weiss is ranked 4th and weakest in the team dynamic, she still holds number one in her combat class not including her other team members. Her ranking alone is nothing to scoff at.
Her fighting style is more about her lying back. She is more of a support member opting to buff her Allies and strike from afar not that she can't handle herself as her combat ranking overall shows as well as her win loss ratio shows." Port said

"Opting for more cloak and dagger Blake is more stealth based and tries for ambush her opponents and for Ranked 3 of her team she certainly fits the role well." Oobleck said

"Indeed and while team RWBY might be undefeated in combat. Ruby Rose herself is also the only individual Huntress who also shares that title with her Team. Going on with Accomplishments that could be used to write a novel It's no doubt that Ruby is slated to win the match.
"More of her team members' accomplishments show more about her stellar leadership than skill of her teammates, not that it doesn't exist from them." Oobleck said
"I think it's more of an Accomplishment that she can control them at all, much less be this effective with them, be mindful that The growth they shared is Astrometrical." Port said
"Yes we might be in the presence of a Legendary Huntress in a few years perhaps in 10-15 years time people will ask you "where were you during this moment…and you will be answering 'Watching Ruby Rose Be a Superstar Huntress." Oobleck said
"It's clear that Anyone can be a member of team RWBY but only Ruby Rose is the one who leads them." Oobleck said
"Indeed my friend, she is perhaps the most lethal as well. Be weary if Ruby Rose starts speeding up. It's Likely already game over." Port said as Behind them Ruby's file was shown showing her Legendary record.

Port shook his head "doubtful Barty. Things would likely have to go quite pear shaped for her to actively step in." Port said
"But you never know let's count out and start the match

Team ABRN rushed forward trying to capitalize on a quick Success.
And they used it well to take out the most critical threat or tried
Which just so happened to be Ruby.
Ruby wasn't able to get her Weapon out before she exploded into rose petals and escaped the attack.
The rest of the team jumped into help there leader
Mostly Blake as she used a clone to pull Ruby out.
"Blake, I'm fine. Focus on the other members split them up individually." Ruby said
Blake looked back "are you sure Ruby?" She asked
Ruby nodded "trust me I wasn't going to get hit go tell the others." Ruby said
Blake nodded and vanished.
Blake appeared before Weiss and Yang.
"Blake what happened?" Yang asked
"Ruby want us to break them up and take them out individually while she destract's." Blake said
Weiss and Yang looked to see that Ruby was posing as a distraction and a good one at that.
Indeed all four members of the other team were lunging at Ruby who was just dodging
She didn't even draw her weapon yet
Yang cracked her knuckles "come on girls let's show them what being number 1 is about." As she sauntered over into the frey menacingly.
Ruby jumped back from an attack by the other team's leader Arlsan Auburn where Yang came in and Punched her hard
She went flying.
The crowd gasped as Arlsan slid across the ground and was just on the edge of a ring out.
The only reason why she didn't was because of her Ropdart which held her
Yang cringed not expecting the exact power to do so much.
Ruby facepalmed, she was really starting to get disappointed with these fights.
"Fuck it just enjoy the match?" She asked her team
The others nodded "I'm game." Yang shrugged
"I mean I don't Want to kill them." Weiss said dismissively
"Let's begin." Ruby said as they went on the offensive.

Heavy metal music started to play in the background of the stadium as the crowd started to cheer and sun along
Team RWBY started to walk forward.
At the fact that team RWBY is about to actually show their stuff everyone stands up and starts chanting.
Ruby pointed her scythe forward as if motioning for a battle charge.
And Team RWBY responded.
As the three girls brush past Ruby she scatters into petals letting the wind carry her.
To the front

Ruby transformed back mid-swing
In The crowd Guts smiled 'nice work…'
'Your gonna go far kid.'
Once in the fray Rwby completely dominated the match.
Team ABRN was good.
But team RWBY was undefeated for a reason.
Ruby fires and swings her Crescent Rose at an off-screen target as Blake Belladonna exchanges blows with Reese Chloris, the blades of her Gambol Shroud colliding with the hoverboard of her opponent until she flips away, readies herself, and charges in again. Behind her, Weiss Schnee waves her Myrtenaster as the sound of her mystical power is heard, and finally Yang Xiao Long dodges the explosive force of Arslan Altan's fist before returning fire with her own Ember Celica.
The crowd starts around as The commentators talk about how the rounds will work as others were walking around placing bets
Obviously many people chose Team RWBY to win.
as Reese steers her board through the ice. She twirls herself until the board gets launched at Blake, but she's able to knock it away, only for Reese to direct it back at her opponent. Blake blocks it again, but the board rotates back to its wielder just in time to defend Reese as Blake delivers several slashes and kicks. Reese deflects each attack and spins her weapon around until she can flip away and ride it again, rushing towards a smirking Blake. She collides with the frozen shadow clone, and Blake uses his opportunity to slice the board in two, only for the halves to become dual katars that in turn fold up into bayonet-bladed revolvers. Reese manages to fire off a few green rounds before her tailbone collides painfully on the cold ground. Blake winces with sympathy.
Meanwhile, Yang lands mere feet away from Arslan, who backs away before being pounded by two quick punches. The pair dodge each others kicks then Arslan delivers her own hits, launching a series of hammer blows. Yang defends herself and retaliates, the clash ending with the two smashing fists and creating a shockwave of force from the impact. Yang and Arslan are both thrown back, but Yang reaches her and tries delivering more blows before Arslan flips away then uses her rope dart to tangle up her blonde adversary's leg and land a kick of her own to send Yang skidding on the ground. While Yang tries to get her balance back on the slippery surface, Arslan rushes forward and knocks her back even further.
Nearby, Nadir Shiko tries aiming with his assault rifle at Yang before a sudden burst of frosty blue explodes behind him and leaves the whimpering gunner in a block of ice up to his thighs.
Ruby looked through her scroll
"Got your back." She said
"Who's got yours?" Bolin asked trying to get the drop on Ruby however she just looked over unworried
"Her." She said which confused Bolin
Ruby looks up behind her as Bolin twirls his staff, right when a black snowflake glyph appears to his left and Weiss kicks him through it into a rock.
Weiss landed
"Your late." Ruby deadpanned
"No your just fast." Weiss but back before vanishing
Ruby wanted to help but she just knew if she did it would be overkill so she just watched and possibly sniped
"Weiss at Bolin.
Blake you're on Reese
Yang-." Ruby started
"Got it Ruby." Yang said not even having to hear her role.
Reece charged at Blake on her hoverboard as she comes to Blake and she slams her board into her enemy's blade, but propels herself backwards and knocks Blake through a frozen pillar but she sharers and reforms in the other side. Reese attempts to use her board to slam her foe into the ground, but Blake dodges that,
Reece follows up with spin in a flaming arc that Blake leans away casually, growing tired of the fight. Blake launches the pistol part of Gambol Shroud at a nearby glacier and launches herself behind it, as Reese follows her and sees Blake with her back turned to her under an arch. Reese grins before riding in to deliver a flaming spiral at the shadow clone, only to see the ribbon Blake is launching to trap her opponent a moment too late. She pulls tightly and causes Reese to slam body-first into the string, only to use a final kick to knock her out of the stage. Reese crashes into the wall of the stands before landing on the ground, defeated
Blake repressed a groan before relizing she's used that trick before. She should have seen it coming.
Yeah Reece had it coming to her.
Blake ran off to deal with the other member that wasn't occupied.
Arslan uses her rope to swing around and avoid Yang right behind her, using shotgun blasts to propel herself forward. Nadir comes into the picture, aiming his rifle at Weiss as she summons another glyph and launches Bolin at him. The two teammates are helpless as Weiss creates a whirlwind from underneath them and slamming the two together until she forms a giant ice fist straight up from the ground to trap the two. It reforms itself into a ball that rolls around the field, and when Arslan sees her team in this state, she rolls her eyes, annoyed, before changing direction and sliding into the path of the ball. She readies her stance and drives her hand into the sphere, which cracks under her power and frees her allies.
"That was really stupid." A voice said behind them
Arlsan turned around to see Ruby her hood up billowing
She hooked her scythe around all three of there waists
"To be fair it's not your fault. You just happened to be paired shittingly with us first." Ruby said as she fired
And ended the match.
"And with that Team RWBY moves on to the next round without taking a single hit!" Port shouted
Guts rolled his eyes. It was clear as day that was the fact as people behind him either cheered it booed at the fact they either won or lost money.
Guts stood up and began to meet up with his girlfriend.
They met at the fairgrounds as Guts heard Ruby moan "is anyone else starving?"
"Well I certainly worked up an appetite." Blake said
"Come on, let's get food." Yang said as she waved her team along.
Ruby started walking before she spun around using her semblance to stop a pickpocket from grabbing her wallet.
Emerald looked shocked at being caught but played it off Amazingly well.
"Wow that's amazing reflexes." Emerald said
"Thanks you too. I barely felt you." Ruby said
Emerald stood up " dang that's an impressive grip." She said as she looked up as Yang and the others approached
Yang smiled as Ruby let go "What's up, Em?"
Emerald smiled "Just left the stadium after your amazing fight! You guys were awesome!"
Ruby blushed and mumbled "Oh, shut your stupid little face hey didn't capture me the best." Ruby said
Weiss glared at Ruby "you didn't do anything."
Ruby elbowed Weiss "shut up." She hissed seriously trying to play the loveable fool as she went back to blushing fortunately Emerald didn't catch on.
Blake spoke over Ruby's incoherent gushing "I heard your team progressed to the next round too."
Weiss sighed "You know, I feel that we haven't seen your other teammates."
Yang spoke "How'd they do in the fight?"
Emerald tilts her head up in thought, remembering how she blasted opponents with Thief's Respite, then slashed behind her as Mercury Black kicks out a shotgun blast with Talaria. Cinder Fall did the same with her own target, landing the poor soul at the feet of their teammate, a mysterious black-haired girl who leans over and stares down as the camera focuses on how her green eyes blink into a pair of pink and brown irises as she smirks while delivering a stomp on her victim's face into darkness.
Emerald came back to reality, nodding "Really well."
Ruby smiled "That's great. Uh. Why don't we all go and get a victory food together?" Ruby said making a fake peace offering.
Emerald not expected such a gesture gasped "Oh, gosh, that's so nice of you, but my teammates are all kind of…"
She looked back at Mercury as he sniffs the inside of a boot, looking perplexed after he does so
"...introverted. Really socially awkward." She finished
Yang groaned and nodded "Ooh, yeah, I could see that."
Emerald smiled "Oh yeah, looks like Merc and I are going to move on to the doubles round. What about you guys?"
Ruby stood high and mighty looking pretty proud of herself "Well, as the leader of this team, I thought long and hard about this decision." She announced
Weiss popped in to remind her, straight-faced "We put it to a vote."
Ruby nervously tries to backtrack "Yes, but seeing as I can completely sweep the tournament on my own I decided that we should put it to a vote. To get the rest of my teammates a chance." Ruby said
Emerald smiled "so who'd you pick?" She prompted
"Oh now that would be telling. It would be so much easier if we surprise you later. Bye emerald See you Mercury." Ruby called as they walked away.
Emerald called out "wait!" But they were gone "shit." She hissed
Mercury and Emerald met up
"So how are the new friends?" Mercury asked
"I hate them." Emerald said
"Orders are orders." Mercury said
Emerald mashed her fingers together angrily "I just... how can they be so happy all the time!?" She asked
Mercury pointed to Emerald to keep her on track. "Did you at least get what we want?"
"No, I couldn't pull it out of them." Emerald sighed
"Shit aw well there's always next time." Mercury said as the two walked off.
At the Simple Wok cart Team RWBY tried to order food but Weiss couldn't pay.
Fortunately as they found that out Guts appeared. With Team JNPR. And Pyrrha was happy to pay.
"Pyrrha!" Ruby cried
"Oh you don't have to pay." Yang said waving her off
"But she could!" Blake said leaning forward hopeful
Guts rolled his eyes at their antics.
Fortunately it was resolved and everyone got there food.
As they ate Jaune spoke to Ruby "so…how was the first match?" Jaune asked
"Um weren't you in the stands? you saw the match." Yang said
"Yes but I wanted to see what Ruby thought." Jaune said
"Oh that's easy. You noticed I stood as far back as possible only interfering when something went wrong which didn't happen thankfully. But otherwise I was relegated to sniping and giving orders." Ruby said
Jaune nodded
"Yes clearly it worked for you being able to be flexible and react. I might have to borrow that." Jaune said
"It was Guts who gave me that so if anything ask him." Ruby said
Jaune looked over to Guts, who looked over the team. "well I'd admit you're able to be as flexible if not more so than RWBY. Due to Pyrrha's ability to take on multiple opponents. Ren is a good support. And Nora is a good heavy hitter. So you can have a good teamwork dynamic of Pyrrha holding off the main attacks while Ren sneaks around and goes for assassination. While if urgency is needed have Nora come in." Guts said
"That could work. In all honesty I never expected to even consider Pyrrha taking on multiple opponents sorry." Jaune apologies
"No problem." Pyrrha said light hearted
Jaune nodded, "well I feel much more comfortable with this round now." Jaune said
"Yes but we should just enjoy ourselves after all this is just supposed to be fun I mean it's not meant to be you know…real combat." Pyrrha said
Team Rwby and Guts looked unsure.
"Guys?" Pyrrha asked not killing there silence
"Well this tournament is meant to prepare you for real combat. Or did you actually expect you'd only be going into towns to destroy Grimm." Guts said
"Yeah, investigations of corrupt officials. Putting down rebellions." Yang listed.
"And don't forget what we've done with the White fang." Ruby mentioned.
"R-right." Pyrrha said clearly getting uncomfortable with it as she stood up
Jaune noticed this and followed "come on let's head over to the arena." He said
Team Rwby watched the match from the stadium
"And the match of team JNPR vs Team BRNZ is about to begin." Port said
"I wonder how Jaune is going to take your suggestions?" Ruby asked Guts as she sat on his lap.
"I wonder how long it will take Ruby to notice she's giving Guts a lap dance." Yang teased
Ruby looked behind her and stuck her tongue at Yang as she turned to watch
"3…2…1…go!" Port said
On the field Jaune snapped to attention
"PHALANX!" He said as he and Pyrrha linked shields and bent low with Ren and Nora behind them. Ren jumping up and firing on occasion.
"Jaune there's only three of them!" Ren said
"What?!" Jaune asked as he braced against his shield
'Where the hell is the fourth person…' Jaune said
"Nora barrage, Ren sneak around the mountain and into the forest, find the fourth person and deal with them." Jaune said
"Gottya." Nora and Ren said both with a nod as they ran off
And together timed with a nod Nora jumped up and fired five shots of her grenade launcher as Ren pulled back to loop behind the mountain which was fortunate not noticed by Port or oobleck as they were praising the shield wall.
"It seems Team JNPR is in a pickle there very defensive right now but two of there best fighters are now stuck like that." Oobleck said
Back on the battlefield Jaune waited
"Nora tell me when Ren is ready." Jaune said
Nora watched as ren disappeared into the woods.
"He's in." Nora said
"Alright pull back let them come to us!" Jaune said as he stood up and ran Pyrrha and Nora followed
"Oh ho what's this JNPR is giving up the field advantage!" Port said
"Oh yes but wait what's this! There's only 3 members with them!" Oobleck said
Guts smiled
At the same time the other team noticed as well.
"Stay sharp there fourth teammate could be anywhere!" There leader said
In the trees May looked through her sniper rifle at her team she noticed that the other team was talking with there leaders back to her
'Perfect.' She thought
As she fired.
However at the last second Jaune leaded his head to the left making the shot graze his cheek drawing blood
'WHAT!?' May asked
Jaune locked eyes on May which triggered Ren to her location and he was gone.
"Form up watch for the sniper keep moving till Rena dealt with her." Jaune said as he started forward
Jaune strode forward as Pyrrha flanked him Jaune had his shield down while Pyrrha her shield and spear up.
Naturally as the open target the team of three focused on Jaune. Only for it to be a trap as Nora jumped over Jaune and slammed her hammer down sending them flying.
"Argh!" They groaned as they landed on there back. There leader looked over to the forest to see Mays sniper rifle discarded
"MAY!" There leader said
"Holy crap what an ending in one hit team JNPR wins!" Port said
After team fights of RWBY and JNPR round live interview with Pyrrha and Ruby about there fights during intermission.
On the TV the Vale News Network intro played as Lisa sat before the camera.
"Greetings I'm Lisa lavender coming from you live from amity colosseum. The first days first round of fights are done and we've seen both teams who are Favored to win fight. Now with an offical win under there belt each let's see if the fighters have any change of overall outcome as we go to our live interview exclusively on VNN right after this."
After the ad break Lisa spoke again
"Welcome back to the VNN your one stop for all things Vytal. Speaking of Vytal I'm sitting right next to two people who are highly decorated Huntresses and we're going to see what they think about this round of fights.
"Ms Rose, Ms Nikos. It's a pleasure to see you again." Lisa said
Both girls nodded "indeed." Pyrrha said
"Now speaking from experience from your first round has any of your opinions changed about who would win, I know the crowd hasn't infact it seems your numbers have gone up Ms Rose? MS Nikos your opinions?" Lisa asked
Pyrrha shrugged "no mine hasn't changed." She said
"I think mine had actually." Ruby said
Lisa looked at Ruby

Lisa looked at them
"Are you serious you looked incredible out on there let's see it on the screen." Lisa said as they looked at the TV showing the highlights of Team RWBY's and JNPR Matches.
When the clips ended Lisa looked at them
"And you were bored of those matches you looked quiet invested to me." Lisa said
"Well yes and no." Pyrrha said
Ruby nodded "I agree with Pyrrha. If you watched from the start of our fight and the single hit from Yang that was her going oh I'd say 50% she hasn't learned to mitigate her strikes all that well so far. Frankly I haven't either which is why I stayed back in the fight.
"Are you saying you didn't need to fight?" Lisa said
Pyrrha stepped in "what Ruby is trying to say humbly is if she attacked it would be over in a flash im not trying to raise her up its just the truth." Pyrrha said
"Even in that last attack?" Lisa asked
"All I did was follow my Body through the action. I just pulled the trigger." Ruby said
"Ok so now I feel I'm in the presence of some scary individuals. Let's get into another topic you said before Ms rose your opinions changed. What changed?" Lisa asked
"Well as said before the fights were very disappointing. Honestly If I wanted to I feel I could sweep everything by myself." Ruby said
Lisa looked skeptical
"Thinking a little high of yourself there?" She asked
Pyrrha shook her head seriously "no she's serious. Remember this is the first one who passed the Signal Final exam when teams of Fourth year Beacon Graduates couldn't. And she Solo'd it. Two year early. Pyrrha said
Lisa paled "I had completely forgotten about that. So next question how was your preparation for this Match like it was for that?"
Ruby shook her head "absolutely nothing alike." Ruby said before explaining.
"Before the Signal final test I trained for a solid 24 hours nonstop and went right to the match, I didn't have time to do that this time for the tournament." Ruby said
Pyrrha and Lisa looked confused.
"Directly training right before a major fight, What like to Psych yourself up for the match? I'd thought it would just make you more tired? Pyrrha have you heard of something like this?" Lisa asked
Pyrrha shook her head.
"No." She said but Ruby continued
"It's supposed to make me tired. It's a way to handicap myself so I don't go overboard in the fight, it's to drain me of my energy so I can't fight at my peak potential so I struggle more." Ruby said
The room was dead quiet even Pyrrha was shocked
"Did you know about this?" Lisa asked
Pyrrha shook her head in awe at Ruby.
"Of her training? Some of it. We took a little excursion into the Emerald forest over break a full week of Grimm encounters and didn't return until the next Sunday. But that's not what you're suggesting at all is it?" Pyrrha asked
Ruby shook her head "No I mean a full days no rest no eating. Except for a few bits of Nuts or something I can quickly jam into my mouth inbetween Grimm. Full combat." Ruby said
There was a pause
"Are you insane?" Pyrrha asked
Ruby shrugged "honestly maybe." She said as if the sky was blue.
"How was the training?" Lisa asked
"When I first started it when I was 10 it was hell pulling an all nighter in combat. It was kinda hard to hide it from my Father at first but it got easier. After a while." Ruby said
"You started when you were 10? Why would you do something so dractic?" Lisa asked
Ruby shrugged "I was a hyper little girl back then so it helped keep me in control. And over time I started to like it." She said
"So you went all out during the Signal Final?" Lisa asked
Except Ruby shook her head "The only match I went all on was the first." Ruby said
"First round?" Lisa asked
"First Match." Ruby deadpanned
"The one that lasted only a second?" Lisa asked shocked
"Millisecond actually." Pyrrha corrected.
"But that's because of your semblance which is speed so far as I know. What does that have to do with combat on your level?" Lisa asked
"Everything." Both said at the same time.
"Can you explain that?" Lisa asked
Ruby shrugged "Well I guess we can." Ruby said
"Semblance's are unique. Like a person's aura they are actually related. Which is why someone came only unlock there semblance after there Aura is unlocked And if you have your aura locked due to something you cannot use your semblance." Ruby said Pyrrha nodded
At low level Combat like where most combat school students you don't have to worry about your semblance and how it flows with your style. Your just learning the basics.
It's once that you got those down. You should worry about how your Semblance mixes with your combat style.
"Now as stated before Each semblance is Unique. All semblances can be used in combat if you're smart with how you use it." Pyrrha said
Ruby nodded "it's just Some semblance are in fact just more utilitarian in combat than others."
"It doesn't matter when your at low level fights but when you get to higher level that's when it really comes into play. And When you get to our level and utilize your semblance to its max potential that's what separates a good huntsman from a legendary one…" Pyrrha said
"Like you two?" Lisa asked
Ruby nodded but Pyrrha shook her head
"No, the only one who has the quality of a legendary Huntress is Ruby here." Pyrrha said.
Ruby blushed and looked toward her.
"But your semblance.."
"You can outrun my semblance Ruby." Pyrrha said
"What is your semblance?" Lisa asked knowing everyone wanted to know
"Magnetism I can control any Metal objects I touch. I usually only make slight adjustments so it's not really noticeable." Pyrrha said
"Isn't that considered cheating?" Lisa asked
Pyrrha shrugged "maybe to some. But I don't think so besides how is "hiding" my semblance different that anyone else?" Pyrrha said before she continued
"Besides I was very open about my semblance and what it was, it's just that no one bothered to ask me so I didn't bother anymore." Pyrrha shrugged
"Are you afraid that your popularity will go down now?" Lisa asked
Suddenly Ruby let out a soft moan which caused a glare from Lisa and an absurd look from Pyrrha who reacted quickly and spoke up.
Pyrrha shrugged "honestly no. I mean it might take a dip but honestly I don't care. I've been on a pedestal for so long I've grown tired of it." Pyrrha said
"Well, is there anything you'd like to say to the audience?" Lisa asked
Pyrrha looked at the camera
"If there is anyone who wishes to have a rematch with me that I beat before and I angered because I didn't tell you my semblance I'll give you one chance to come and fight me without me using it. If I win again that's it. No rematches without my semblance." Pyrrha said
"And what about you Ms Rose?" Lisa asked
"I don't want anything to think I treat you any lesser because I don't go all out. I allow myself down to gauge your potential. Then I react accordingly." Ruby said.
Lisa nodded "very well. Looks like we are out of time for now but it was great to have you here ladies." Lisa said
"Great!" Ruby smiled
"It's wonderful to have us on." Pyrrha smiled as they left
As they walked out of the studio Pyrrha walked up to Ruby and whispered
"Really? You had to do it then?!" She asked
"It's a downside of my semblance I can't control it." Ruby hissed
Pyrrha rolled her eyes "well hopefully no one caught that. Or else your popularity will certainly rise from being a great huntress to slut." She hissed
Ruby looked down
"I'm sorry I ruined the interview."
Pyrrha sighed and looped an Arm over Ruby
"You didn't, I'm just worried about you. One of the reasons I said what I said was exactly this I don't want my top rank anymore. But I don't want you to squander your opportunity either." Pyrrha said
Ruby nodded "I know thanks Pyrrha."
Pyrrha nodded "come on let's get back to the stadium and watch the fights."
In Team RWBY's dorm Weiss Blake and Yang were stairing at the screen in shock
"Yang?" Weiss asked
"Yes Weiss?" Yang said

Little_Red: {"Very well I accept."}
Headmaster Ozpin: {"very well I'll try to get it set up I'll Text you back when I have an answer."}
Ruby smiled as she and Pyrrha reached the arena
Ruby found Guts sitting alone and sat with him.
"Hey love." She said
Guts smiled "hey Ruby." He said
So there are more fight left?"
Guts nodded "yep." He said
"Wanna make a bet?" Ruby said
"I don't think passing around money like that would be a good idea, I just don't seem the need for it." Guts said
Ruby sighed as she leaned over and whispered
"What if we spice it up a little?"
Guts looked over to Ruby
"I'm interested." Guts said

"Simply put we both put a guess onto who's going to win. If we think of different teams then the bet is on. If I win I get one time I can say you can fuck me and you can't argue." Ruby said
Guts sighed he could accept this.
"And if you lose?" Guts asked
Ruby smiled wider "then I edge myself." She said
"I'm not sure you'd be able to hold off Ruby." Guts said

Ruby rolled her eyes and stood up while the teams got off the field and they set up for the next bout.

"We will talk about the outcome of your interview later." Weiss said

"Weiss hush the fight is starting." Yang said.
Ladies and gentlemen welcome your just in time for our next match.
Team NDGO of Shade is certainly a crowd favorite, but these lovely ladies are going against some of the toughest, testosterone-filled teammates we've seen so far! I'm of course talking about... Team SSSN! Sun Wukong and his team are certainly a force to be reckoned with, and although he'll be representing the Mistral Academy of Haven, I'm sure his friends and family back in Vacuo will be cheering him along!" Port said
As the two teams enter the battlefield.
Weiss called out to the field "Good luck, Neptune!"
Neptune looks over to his opponents and wink " Ladies, try and remember: hands above the waist." He said with a major gesture.
Weiss was enraged she stood up and pointed being angered at how easy he was to flirt with someone else "Break his stupid face, NDGO!"
Guts rolled his eyes followed by Ruby they muttered at the same time "amateurs."
Sun grabbed a hold of his teammate to keep in from flirting "ignore him, for he... Yeah, he's dumb."
Neptune simply gives a sparkling wink to the disgusted females as the holographic roulette shows up again, landing on a yellow image of sunny dunes and stone formations until the real thing emerges from below. A small circular light even appears overhead, causing most of the crowd to don sunglasses.
Nebula seeing the battlefield laughed "Alright! Home field advantage!"
Sun smerked "Don't get too cocky! That's my turf, too!"
Scarlet looked down sadly "I hope I don't get sand in my shoes."
Neptune leaned over whispering "Be cool, man."
Dew looked up happy "Hey! The ocean!" She said
Neptune was shocked "Huh?" He looks back and appears terrified.
"Uhh, what's wrong with Neptune?" Ruby asked
"Oh, no. Neptune's ... afraid of the water." Blake revealed
"Ha deserved!" Weiss said callously the rest of the Team looked over it was clear as day to them Weiss was clearly hurting and as Ruby said before Turned into a total bitch to hide her pain.
Something that she could see clear as day.
Except it was deeper…
Ruby thought back to who else could have hurt her.
Then it hit her…
All those times Weiss was trying to help her

As soon as the word is said, Neptune zooms through the enemy team and skids up the mountain behind them.
"Neptune, what are you doing?!" Sage called angrily
Neptune looked around at an attempt for an excuse "Uh, you know, just gaining the higher ground!"
Sun looked as if his firend has lost his marbles "On the enemy's side?!"
Neptune shrugged "They would never expect it!"
Dew shrugged "He's not wrong."
On the sidelines Guts moaned at the pain "that's because it's idiotic." Ruby agreed with him "no backup no way to retreat if he doesn't get taken out first ill be upset." Ruby agreed.
Nebula got back into battle shouting the first order "Open fire!"
Team NDGO goes forward into their turf as Team SSSN follows them, Sage with his sword raised and Scarlet having ditched his coat. He comes upon Octavia Ember emerging out from a nearby arch and tries to slice her with his cutlass. She ducks under the swing and continues sliding away, past the middle of Dew and Sage getting ready to rumble. Sage hefts Pilgrim overhead with both hands and brings it down, only to get knocked back by Dew's spear. He glances up in time to see the blonde wave her weapon over the sand to create three small twisters that kick up dust in Sage's face. He looks around as they surround him, but doesn't realize the danger until they coalesce into one big tornado that picks him up off the ground. With his weapon torn out of his grip and screaming in panic, he's totally helpless as the winds throw him and his blade out of the arena. as Sage slams the ground with fists upon seeing his image now crossed out on the holographic board
Oobleck announces it "And NDGO gains the advantage!"
Octavia slides in front of Sun and Scarlet, who ready themselves to fight her just as she spins her sword around and produces a wave of flame that kicks up dust in their faces. Sun manages to jump out of the cloud just in time to call for help in fighting the redhead.
Sun looking for aid calls out "Neptune!"
Seeing his leader fall back as Octavia attacks Scarlet again, Neptune leaps down from his position and cocks his gun. Octavia attempts to use another fire attack to blind Neptune, but he simply puts on his goggles and fires a bolt as his opponent, who blocks it with her blade right before seeing Sun leap out of nowhere to deliver a neck-snapping kick to her face. Now furious, a scowling Octavia tries to retaliate by bringing her blade down onto the Faunus. But the blow is countered by Sun's Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang in its staff form as he draws the weapon, then spins it all around his body while hitting several parts of hers. He ends it with a jab that knocks Octavia on her back in the sand.
"Oh! And we're down to 3-on-3!" Port announces
Sun looks at Neptune fighting with Gwen Darcy as she circles him with her flying knives and Scarlet attempting to go weapon-to-weapon with Dew. She easily dodges a kick then calls upon another sandy cyclone to lift Scarlet up, and he revolves around the spiral until it launches him over the shipwreck. It seems like he's about to be eliminated at well, but he extends his arms and manages to dive onto a part of the mast. Noticing this, Nebula and Gwen rush to pursue him. Scarlet catches the beam and flips himself up almost losing his balance once the pole is under his feet. He eventually finds his balance right when Nebula closes in and launches an arrow with her crossbow at the mast, using it to jump right up to where Scarlet is. She folds up the sides of her weapon into a blade to cross swords with her opponent, the both of them trading blows while ducking and missing, then Scarlet is struck by Nebula's hilt and counters with a kick to the head. Nebula circles the mast and deflects another blow then slams her blade over Scarlet's and forces him to lean back on the post. Luckily, he manages to get his sword back out from the trap and feign a swing at Nebula's feet before knocking into her with his elbow, causing the NDGO leader to fall into the sand below.
From his position, Scarlet sees Gwen continue to throw her knives at Sun, and he smirks before whipping out his pistol and shooting the hilt guard as a grappling hook to get her by the ankle.
Scarlet smiles "Gotcha!" He said
He uses the cord to lift Gwen into the air while he slowly comes down to the ground, only to land directly beneath her as she attempts to protect her modesty while knives start raining down from her dress. Scarlet quickly adopts a pose that somehow allows him to miss every single blade that comes crashing down into the sand at his feet, which he gives a sigh of relief to. His luck doesn't hold when Dew leaps near Sun, causing the monkey Faunus to find his new improvised weapons in the form of two coconuts he knocks out the palm tree beside him, which he throws at his opponent only to get them knocked right back at him, now spontaneously catching fire as they travel. Sun narrowly misses them both, but Scarlet gets one straight to the face, and the other lands in a place that makes him squeal in unimaginable pain while dropping his Aura levels into elimination.
Sun sighed at his firends pain "aw Nuts!" looks from Scarlet to Dew as she summons a few water blue tornadoes that he tries to dodge around
"Uh, Neptune? Could use some help, buddy!"
Neptune called back to his leader with his excuses "Uh, you know, uh, it would probably be better if you came over here! Yeah, I can guard this... sector! We're in lockdown mode!" He said turning away
Sun dodged another attack and looked around infuriated as Nebula manages to shoot the cord holding Gwen up in the background
"What are you talking about? There's nothing to lock down!"
Neptune spun around again "Lockdown! Right! You got it!"
Sun is jumping out from Dew's attempt to pierce him with her spear as he calls out to Neptune "Dude, I know you're afraid of water, but you gotta-" hes stoped yelling when a blue shot knocks an attacking Dew out of midair and into the water.
Neptune growled "There! I helped! Are you happy now!? Also, I am not afraid of water, and I have no idea what you are talking about!"
Dew manages to get back up as Nebula and Gwen join their comrade, lifting their weapons and ready to fight once more.
Sun looks over frustrated as he gestures at the three with both hands "NEPTUNE!"
Neptune growled "Okay, fine! Just get out of the water!"
Neptune jumps over to a spot near the coastal line next to Sun, and he unfolds Tri-Hard into its trident form before tip-toeing forwards and, eyes closed, plunges the sparking prongs into the water. The energy surges through the deep until the remaining members of NDGO are electrocuted and sink to their knees in the water, smoking and defeated with the sound of the buzzer.
Port smiled "And with that, Team SSSN moves on to the doubles round! You know what I call that victory?" He asked to his co announcer
Oobleck looked over "Shocking?" He said making a pun
Port shook his head "No, well earned. What you said is stupid." He said
Oobleck looked down in shame.
Ruby gripped herself
She had lost the bet.
Again.
Ruby looked over to Guts who smiled.
Ruby rolled her eyes as Guts activated the remote again
Ruby tried hard not to show it as she clenched the side of the chair hard
Unfortunately her hand also was right next to Weiss's
Who noticed the shaking.
Weiss looked over to see Guts smiling holding a remote.
Weiss rolled her eyes and looked back to the Arens trying to ignore the situation around her.
That was until she looked back and saw Guts was reaching behind Ruby's chair to hand something to Weiss
It was the remote.
Weiss was shocked as she pointed to herself guts nodded while Ruby was too focused on ignoring her urge to Cum.
Weiss smiled and took the remote.
'Maybe it's time for some payback?' Weiss thought. As she pushed the button
Ruby thought she was doing good. She had her urge under control right as she opened her eyes.

Qrow looked behind him and sees an aircraft with elegant ribbons flying from its wings. "That one." He finishes his drink as the world sways with the happily inebriated Huntsman until he slams the glass down on the counter and tosses a few Lien alongside it "Happy Vytal Festival!"
Qrow walked away with a bit of a stumble.

And Ruby looked to see

Ruby nodded as the Announcement that the final bout was over came on.

Weiss took this opportunity to hand Guts the remote again. As she walked off
Ruby got up and checked her scroll apparently it was set for after everyone left the arena and a few minutes after so she could eat.
Ruby got up to follow but ended up bumping into Weiss

Weiss noticed the ship and smiled "she's here."
Guts and Ruby looked at Weiss confused
"Who?" Ruby asked
But Weiss Ran off before she could answer, apparently it was someone important.
Ruby and Guts looked more confused but followed Weiss
