Coffee: A RoyEd, semi-AU, TWT one-shot gift-fic for my dear Gunning Angel. :) Inspired by a quote that was written on my classroom blackboard's "reflection/intention" area one day. (See how insane my class is? A coffee quote in THAT section… Then again, I think it was exam week at that time… :P) 280 words

"Given enough coffee, I could rule the world."
Ed rued the day Roy had ever heard of that saying. Firstly, Roy already had too much coffee as it was. Secondly, all the caffeine-generated energy was mainly expended into the daily torture of the Fullmetal Alchemist, and thirdly (which was neither the least nor the last reason… just the third of the main ones) – Roy couldn't brew an edible drop for the life of him. It was always Ed who ended up forced to make the hell-drink.
So… why didn't he just stop making it? Answer: he couldn't. Roy could barely function before noon without coffee, which would be just fine for Ed except for the fact that Roy was the bloody Fuhrer-elect and it was absolutely unacceptable for him to show up late, or blearily non-functional, for work. If Ed refused to brew the damned beans, the taller man would probably end up going out and expend ungodly amounts of money to buy the blasted drink from expensive coffee shops. Besides, at least this way Ed had some form of control of Roy's coffee intake; and a coffee-deprived Roy at 8am, although less of an absolute ass, was utterly bland, bleary-eyed, and marginally grumpier.
So today, once again, Edward Elric was unwillingly making a "definitely unmatched, absolutely heavenly, and perfectly brewed" (according to a certain Fuhrer and several subordinates) pot of black coffee.
'Well…' Ed thought, face relaxing as a firm arm sneaked around his waist. 'At least its not a completely thankless job…'
Ed smiled as a sleepy "Thanks" was whispered into his ear, and warm lips brushed lightly against his temple 'And at least it has its benefits…'
Lol. Awww, Ed… why dislike coffee? It's absolutely wonderful! Then again, so is milk… (Btw, Ed hating coffee has no basis from either anime or manga… then again, I don't think it was ever said that he liked it, either…)
