Still don't own DxD or K Project, it would be cool if I did though. Appreciate any and all feedback.

Mikito's recovery did not slow over the course of the next few days, he was out of all of his splints and his left leg was now in a leg brace. While it was still annoying he could at least walk around now, Wakako had gotten him some spare clothes to change into since not much was left of his original outfit. Speaking of Wakako, she had taken the responsibility of being his legal guardian, from what he'd seen he definitely could have done worse. He could tell she had her shit together, and if the clothes he got were any indication money was not going to be much of a limitation. If anything, the fact that she was able to make herself his guardian so quickly and under the table went to show how much pull she had. He was leaving the hospital the next day and was enjoying a walk in a nearby park. According to Wakako, the hospital he was currently admitted to was close to a town called Kuoh, a pretty nice town from what he'd seen however he couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched. It was similar to the time he fought the stray devil which was starting to creep him out but he kept his guard up regardless.

"Watch out!"

Thankfully that came in useful as his left hand shot out and caught a soccer ball. While he wouldn't say he was in pain, he wouldn't say he felt good either as he brought the ball closer to his body and observed it. While he had almost fully recovered from most of his wounds, his body overall felt weaker. Whether it was because he was now a child or because he spent too much resting in the hospital he didn't know but he would like to be rid of the feeling as soon as possible. It was then that two more children approached him, obviously the owners of the ball he caught.

"Thanks for catching our ball" a boy with brown hair, wearing an obnoxiously yellow shirt and navy blue shorts, after running over to Mikoto, accompanied by a girl with a lighter shade of brown hair who was wearing a red shirt with some overalls.

"..." Mikoto said nothing as he passed the ball back to the boy before continuing with his walk.

"H-hey why don't y-you play with us?!" The boy asked uncomfortably due to the silent tension. Mikoto stopped walking

"ISSEI!" The girl shouted in response, slapping him on the back.

"Unless you're fine with playing catch that's going to have to be a no.." he said, raising the leg with a brace.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" He said feeling embarrassed as he finally took the metaphorical foot out of his mouth. As the girl started laughing at him.

"Irinaaa! Why didn't you tell me?!" He said looking back to his companion.

"I thought it was obvious!"

"You still could have said something earlier!"

"I thought it was pretty obvious!"

"Well- hey where'd he go?" Issei asked, looking around the immediate vicinity before spotting Mikoto by the fountain. He seemed fixated on something as they slowly approached him.

Mikoto found his focus stolen by his reflection in the fountain. He had slowly gotten used to the fact he was a child, be it through his height, or how the hospital staff would baby him but looking at his younger face still weirded him out. He had been staring at his reflection for a while before his two new associates walked up beside him.

"Hey I'm sorry about the leg thing.." Issei muttered, trying to apologize for his slip up.

"You're still hung up on that…?" Mikoto asked, shifting his attention from the fountain's water to the boy beside him.

"Y-Yeah well w-we still want you to hang out with us…even if you can't play with us.." Issei said though he got quieter and quieter as he spoke.

"Yeah!" Irina agreed.

"I guess I have nothing better to do for today…" Mikoto drawled out, to the delight of the 2.

"Hey what's your name? I've been meaning to ask but Issei kept putting his foot in his mouth" Irina said before sticking her tongue out at Issei.

"Mikoto" he spat out quickly before Issei could start their whole song and dance again.

Throughout the course of the day, Mikoto followed the duo, slowly learning the layout of Kuoh along with some of the sights that Issei and Irina liked to frequent. Apparently, Kuoh was a pretty quiet town. Since he couldn't do much with them while they hung out, Issei took this as a chance to find out more about Mikoto's interests to which Mikoto said he enjoyed sleeping. Issei a bit weirded by the choice, started telling him about all his interests from video games to manga. Though Mikoto wasn't all too familiar with them, some of the ones Issei mentioned such as the one about 7 wish-granting balls or something similar…

Eventually, the day began to come to an end and Mikoto had to say goodbye to the two but not before the two made him promise that he would see them again the next day. At the moment he was waiting in the hospital lobby. Wakako was apparently sending a retainer to pick him up after the doctor informed her that he would only have to keep the leg brace on for at most two more weeks, so there was no sense in him holding up a room at the hospital anymore.

"Mikoto-san.?" A gruff voice asked from his left. He looked over to see an older man with graying hair wearing a formal white shirt and black pants accompanied by a short red tie. This must have been Wakakos retainer.

"Who's asking?" He asked, getting up from his chair.

"My name is Takemura, I am Lady Wakakos retainer, I assume you were informed of why I am here?" He asked to which Mikoto nodded.

"Lead the way" he drawled before yawning. It seems his new friends tired him out more than he thought.

The two eventually made it to an initially modest but luxurious car, where Mikoto sat in the back for the ride as night was starting to set in.

"Lady Wakako will not be back for some time, she has been meeting with business partners for the day, I hope you do not mind waiting until tomorrow to talk to her." Takemura said as they pulled into a high-end apartment complex.

"No complaints from me…" Mikoto said as he kept his vision focused on his surroundings through the window, he was starting to fight sleep at this point.

After Takemura parked the vehicle the duo began making their way towards the apartment Wakako was staying in for the time being.

"One more thing, Lady Wakako is currently fulfilling a favor for one of her sons. As such, I hope you don't mind being around her granddaughter." Stated Takemura as he readied the key card to open the unit's door.

"That shouldn't be a problem... I'm pretty much ready to hit the sack, I just need to get some food in me." Mikoto replied as Takemura opened the door for him.

Mikoto took in the sight of the apartment as he walked in, it was pretty high-end from what he could see. On top of having a nice view, the Kitchen had a nice marble finish, the dining room had a nice spacious table which was probably made with a type of wood too expensive for him to care and the living room had a nice 80-inch television securely mounted on one of the walls. noticing there was a small child who had fallen asleep watching some cartoons on the couch.

"I told that child not to wait up for me…apologies this will only take a minute.." Takemura muttered, careful not to wake her up. Mikoto proceeded to wait by the dining table as Takemura proceeded to tuck the child in.

He was out a few moments later, where he readied a plate of curry and rice along with a cup of milk. After this Takemura took the chance to prepare the guest room, while Mikoto ate. Mikoto was pretty much asleep by the time he hit the bed.

The next day Mikoto woke up to a relatively quiet apartment. After asking Takemura he had learned that Haru, Wakako's grandchild, had tired herself out the day prior in addition to waiting up for Takemura. It's not like he was against interacting with kids his age, but he wasn't too keen on starting off the morning being asked to play house, his leg brace would not be able to stop him from tea time if the toys he saw around were any indication. At about 11, after eating breakfast, he asked Takemura about the park where he met Issei and Irina and learned that it wasn't that far. He told Takemura that he was going to be there for some time during the day, just in case Wakako needed to reach him before heading out to meet his new friends for the second time.

It took Mikoto some time to find the park again as he pretty much just had to improvise on what little map knowledge he had of Kuoh but he was eventually able to find it only taking up about an hour of his time but he probably could have shaved off some time if it wasn't for his leg brace.

"There he is! See I told you he'd show up!" Said Issei as Mikoto walked up to the two.

"Didn't think I'd show?" Mikoto questioned looking over at Irina.

"No, but Issei was starting to get antsy without you around." Irina replied with a smile.

"Well duh, it would be pretty lame if all three of us didn't get to hang out before you left for Europe tomorrow." Issei countered.

'So that's why they were so adamant with me meeting them today..' Mikoto thought to himself as he noticed Irina's face develop a melancholic smile.

"So what's on the itinerary today?" He asked.

"I say we go to the arcade!" Issei offered.

"Don't have any cash on me." Mikoto shot down.

"My dad felt bad about having us move so soon and gave me some money for the day so cash wont be a problem!" Irina countered.

"No complaints from me then.." Mikoto relented as he started following the two to the arcade.

Mikoto was not having a fun time at the moment. He was at the beginning of their little arcade trip but as they played more and more games he was starting to realize just how out of his depth he was against Issei in the arcade. He did slightly better against Irina but overall the result was the same. He didn't play video games that often so he wasn't expecting to win that much but he could only handle getting his ass handed to him for so long.

Thankfully Issei was pretty bored of constantly winning and suggested they get some snacks with the remaining cash. Mikoto agreed with him just to get out of the arcade and Irina was happy just to spend her final day in Japan with her friends.

They decided to relax on one of the benches in the nearby park after procuring some snacks. Issei and Irina were having a discussion over who they thought was stronger from one of the mangas they've been reading lately. Mikoto chimed in when he heard something interesting. This had been going on for some time before Mikoto noticed a familiar figure approaching the group, Takemura.

"I apologize Mikoto-san but Lady Okada will need to leave Kuoh earlier than expected..had I known you were meeting friends I would have bought you more time." Takemura said feeling a tad remorseful. It seems he had a penchant for making kids happy.

"What about Haru?" He asked, he was pretty sure Takemura was taking care of the kid for Wakako while she was busy doing...whatever she was doing in Kuoh.

"We were only visiting for the week, her parents were on a trip to take a break from work and made it home about 2 hours ago. She was quite disappointed she didn't get to meet you." Takemura explained.

Mikoto raised an eyebrow at that but quickly looked over it. Since he was going to be with Wakako for some time it's not like he wasn't going to see her ever again.

"Where will we be going?" Mikoto asked, standing up from the bench, and getting ready to leave.

"At the moment Lady Wakako takes residence in Kyoto." Takemura answered.

"Kyoto!? But that's so far!" Issei remarked. To think he would be saying goodbye to 2 of his friends so quickly…

"I'm sure Mikoto-san will be able to visit from time to time.." Takemura said to try and calm the boy though Mikoto wasn't sure Takemura believed what he told the boy.

"I'll give you some time to say your goodbyes… just follow the path to your left, the car will be parked nearby." Takemura said before following that very path.

Looking at the two he could tell that the news did not settle well.

He thought about what to say to put them at ease-

"You better visit when you come to Kuoh!" Issei said with a determined look in his eye.

"Count on it" Mikoto said before flashing him a small smile, which made Issei smile in response.

He looked over to Irina to see that she was still trying to get over her move to Europe.

"Tell you what, we'll make a promise to meet up here once more in the future." Mikoto said, offering his hand to the pair. Issei took it shortly after in agreement followed by Irina who still looked slightly reluctant.

A red flame enveloped their hands soon after, at first, the pair pulled their hands back in fear but soon realized that the flames weren't burning them. As they paid more attention to the flames they felt a warm sensation overcome them as the flames appeared to be absorbed by their bodies. They looked up to Mikoto who flashed them a smile as his flame simply faded away instead.

"Seems we made a special promise…I don't expect you to break it…" Mikoto said as he turned and started to walk towards Wakako's entourage.

The drive to the train station had been going on for a few minutes now with Takemura playing a collection of jazz throughout the whole ride thus far. Apparently, Wakako planned on spending a few more days in Kuoh but her "mutual benefactor" was in quite the rush to meet him. He remembered her bringing him up during her hospital visit but not much was said about him at the time. I guess if he wanted to meet up so soon he wouldn't care if Mikoto pried a little bit.

"So who exactly is this mutual benefactor?" Mikoto asked.

Wakako released a strong sigh, she was clearly stressed from something and he guessed it would have to do with who he was meeting. It was almost funny in a way, this must have been what Munakata was like when he was dealing with him.

"His name is Azazel, and he is one of the leaders of the fallen angels." Wakako said before opening one of the built-in coolers of the vehicle and pouring herself something strong to calm the nerves.

Mikoto didn't know what to say to that. Sure he had gotten some experience with the supernatural of this world but he doubted he would be dealing with someone so influential so quickly. All he did was kill a stray demon, and from the sound of it, that was a somewhat common occurrence.

"I won't have to make fried chicken out of him will I?" He asked jokingly as he wrapped his head around the situation.

"No, all he said is that he wanted to know more about you. I should warn you he only gets like that when he's giddy about finding out how something ticks…" Wakako responded after stifling a chuckle.

"So what's got us bee-lining Kyoto?" Mikoto asked, not really grasping the need for urgency.

Wakako finished her drink as she got ready to explain the situation to the boy.

"I control the majority of Kyoto's underground. As such I have many a kind under my wing and because of that I was able to become allies with the Youkai faction, and while I never had problems with them before, now I don't have to worry about stepping over their toes. Azazel wants me to facilitate a meeting between him and Yasaka, the current leader of Kyoto's Youkai faction. Lord knows what he wants but he says he has no ill intentions and so far that checks out with his track record." Wakako explained.

It took a while for what she explained to sink in for Mikoto though the sour look his face adopted said it all.

"I fuckin hate politics…"

Jb338973: Thanks for the extra info on the Gremories, I haven't read too much into the light novels/manga so most of my knowledge on DxD is from the anime and it has been quite some time since I've watched it. I also know that the anime is known for changing around a lot of details around season 3 so expect me to write around those. As for Wakako, I wanted a human to help him connect to the supernatural aspects of DxD and she just seemed to connect with that purpose for me. Besides her and Takemura don't expect too many other characters outside of DxD and K project.

Not sure if this chapter conflicts with lore or not but, this is a fanfic and the whole point of it is changing things up. Never really got the point of fanfics that just summarized what happens with "x" tagging around. *cough* Naruto fics *cough* Anyway hope yall enjoyed the chapter, next time Mikoto gets to meet our favorite fallen angel, Azazel.
