Harrison's POV
Huddled over his Potion's book he tried to find a doable potion to test his brother's blood. His dad had come by several times to ask if he wanted to go flying. Not wanting to worry his father until he was sure he declined. He put it up to having homework to do. There was something wrong with Alex and their manor wards hadn't picked it up.
Alex had been confused when he asked about the lack of response to his letters. His brother barely had any memories of the last several letters. It didnt sit well with him and he suspected foul play.
Biting nervously into his thumb he flipped through his book. There had to be something in here that he could use. Even if he had to ask his Potion's Professot for help he would help his brother.
After two hours of searching Harrison was about to give up when he found the potion. It was complicated and he would need several hours of alone time but he should be able to pull it off. Dog earring the page left his room.
Sneaking into the potions lab was too easy. Maybe he would mention it to his father after he made this potion. It took two hours for the potion to be ready for Alex's blood. He called a house elf to ask his brother to come down to the lab.
It only took a few moments for Alex to arrive. The older boy was in his quidditch robes. Seems like his brother had been flying while Harrison was working on the potion.
Alex asked looking into the cauldron, "What's this? I thought you were working on homework."
Harrison answered eyeing the potion carefully, "I lied. Something was off about you not remembering my letter. So I looked for a potion that would show any spells or potions that you might be under the influence of."
"You think someone is manipulating me?" asked his brother incredulously.
Harrison nodded solemnly. Then explained, "You and I are not protected like father is. We dont have the Heir rings as such it's easier to manipulate us with magic. I could be wrong about this but I'd rather be sure."
Alex looked doubtful but at his instance agreed to spare some blood. With a sterile knife Harrison cut the tip of his brother's finger. Allowing three drops of the blood into the cauldron he whispered a healing spell, silently thanking the professors.
After four counterclockwise strokes and ten minutes of resting they could soak the parchment in the potion. They didnt have to wait long for the results. Harrison's face darkened the further down he got.
Name: Alex Potter
Age: 7
Sex: Male
Parents: James Charlus Potter, Lily Anne Potter nee Evans
Potions:
Nutritional potion
Loyalty potion
Forgetfulness potion
Compulsion potion
The potion was very basic it wouldnt tell him who gave it or when it was given. To his annoyance it wouldnt tell him who the potions were keyed to. They needed to go to Gringotts for a more extensive scan.
When Alex saw the potions in his system he went pale. Harrison watched him warily in case the other passed out.
Alex questioned, "How can we find out more about this?"
Harrison said grabbing the parchment, "We need to tell dad. Then we need to go to Gringotts so we can find out who did this. They can also get rid of the potions from your system."
With that he vanished the potion from the cauldron and set it aside to be cleaned later. Then he went up the stairs to find his father, with Alex right on his heels. They found their father in his study working on paperwork.
Harrison knocked on the door and waited. James called out, "Enter."
Both brothers entered a moment later and hazel eyes held confusion when he saw them standing there. He questioned carefully, "What can I do for you boys?"
Harrison approached the desk and said, "Father something felt wrong about how Alex didnt reply to my letter. So I did a basic blood test potion that my class learned about. The results were scary."
Frowning James took the parchment that was offered to him. Harrison watched as disbelief and anger crossed his father's face.
James said standing up from his desk and heading to the floo, "We are going to Gringotts immediately. Harrison stay here."
"Yes dad," intoned both children.
Only a few moments later both his father and brother were gone. Harrison felt the wards go into lockdown. No one would be allowed to enter or leave until his father returned. Even if his mother tried to return she wouldnt be allowed in.
Harrison for his part went to the library to read over some other potion books. He only spent two hours there before he went to the dueling room. It was while practicing his dueling skills that his father returned. Feeling the wards accept his father Harrison returned his wand to its holster.
James was carrying Alex to his rooms and disabled the lockdown. Hazel eyes met green as he paused.
James ordered calmly but the fire in his eyes betrayed his true feeling, "Harrison go to your room."
Harrison asked turning his head to the side in curiosity, "Why dad? What's wrong?"
"Its nothing you need to worry about, Harrison," answered James curtly, "I will take care of it. Also when you go with your master to the Malfoy Ball tell him I wish to speak with him."
His father wouldnt accept any other questions he had. In fact he was ushered to his bedroom. He only caught the briefest of flash of concern when his father thought he wasnt looking. What had Gringotts told him?
