The First Potions class of the year found him and XIII working side by side. They were working on an inheritance potion. Their professor seemed to do this every year according to the older students. It gave students a chance to see their family histories. A basic inheritance as it was it would only give family lines and blood adoptions. Goblin done inheritance tests showed far more. The magic that was used in that was only known to the goblins, however.
Harrison was intrigued to find out if there were any magical on his mother's side. Everyone said she was a muggleborn and there was no way a magical was in her line. He had the sneaking suspicion that this wasn't the case. Especially after talking with Regulus.
Purebloods were notorious for abandoning their children who were squibs. Squibs were magical but their cores were too small to do any magic. Thus they were obliviated and left in the muggle. That was if they were not outright purged.
The potion didn't take long to make and it was simple. Countries like Britain had it declared dark because it used blood in its last stage. Since he started at Nightingale he had learned how ridiculous that was. Banning magic or Potions that could save lives because they didn't fit into a certain mold.
There was a ping as the alarm he set went off. Using the silver potion knife Harrison made a small cut on his finger. Then he allowed three drops exactly to fall into the potion. As soon as they had fallen in he drew his hand back and healed the cut. His potion began to bubble and turn a light blue. It was done.
Harrison pulled out a piece of parchment and poured out the measurement of potion onto it. The parchment was charmed so that the potion wouldn't slide off of it and onto the floor or potioneer. Their professor had taught them the charm before they began ensuring they could all cast it.
It took five minutes for the potion to finish its work. When it was finished he read and felt the blood drain from his face.

There was no way this was accurate. He had to have made a mistake. But he hadn't. Their professor watched them with hawk-like eyes to ensure everything was done correctly.
"Hey what's wrong? Harrison!"
The near shout by his ear made him jump in shock. He turned to look at XIII who had a concerned look on his face. The question in his eyes was clear. What was wrong?
Harrison could find the words to answer him. How could he tell his friend that everything he thought was a lie? Why didn't hi... James or Lily tell him? Why lie to him?
"Problem boys?"
Wordlessly Harrison held up his results to the professor. With a frown, he took it and read. There was a flicker of something unreadable in the hawk-like eyes. It was gone before Harrison could understand what it was.
Then he ordered, "Take your stuff and go see the Headmaster. Don't argue. Just go see him. Take this."
Reluctantly he took back his results and packed up. With a look for XIII, he headed to the Headmaster's Office. Like all students, he knew where it was but he never had actually been in it. There was a wooden door and carved into were the four crests of Nightingale.
Harrison pressed his hand into the Crest of Lupus and focused his magic into it. For a moment nothing happened then the door opened. Still, he waited politely.
"Enter," came Durant's voice.
That was when he did so. As was polite given his Etiquette lessons. If it had been an emergency then he would have entered as soon as the door opened. It might be emotionally distressing but this didn't constitute as an emergency.
The office was spacious and was well taken care of. Two bookcases were on the right wall. They were filled to the brim with books. To his left, there was a large window that overlooked the courtyard. In fact, he would have been able to see the duel a few weeks ago from the window. Interesting. The desk the Headmaster sat at was cluttered with different parchments that needed the man's attention. Behind Durant was a fireplace with a jar of floo powder next to it.
Durant looked up as he entered. There was a flash of curiosity when he saw who it was. He put away the paper he was holding. There was a flicker of uncertainty as he leaned back.
After a moment he said, "I should have expected this. Your parents haven't talked to you about your true heritage then? I warned them when you went back for Yule break. Told Lord Potter he should tell you the truth."
"You knew?"
There was a pang of betrayal in his chest. He knew and didn't tell him? Who else knew?
Durant shrugged, "We knew. You have creature blood which is what allowed you to be a Garde."
Harrison's mouth went dry, "What creature?"
"Skinwalker," said the man easily, "Just like your friend, Mr. Stryker. If you want to understand your heritage I would ask him about it."
Heritage... what was he supposed to think about this? He knew that Skinwalkers were different from werewolves and animagi. The thing was Jacob couldn't go into deep details because they had not met his father. There were secrets that could only be told by the Clan Head.
Durant steepled his fingers and laid his chin on them as he said, "If you're worried about the change don't be. The earliest known shift was twelve years."
"May I floo call m..."
What was he supposed to call them now? He had grown up under their care and at least James had always treated him like he was his own. Nothing had ever indicated that he was adopted. And blood adopted at that.
Durant nodded.
