My RWBY Academia Chapter 11
The Fight Training Begins
Ruby and her classmates enter int a room with a large monitor and she looked amazed
"Wow…" She said amazed
"Wow, this looks amazing" Denki said also amazed
"This is linked to every camera for all the city zones we have here at UA, for now we will only be using the feeds from Zone B." All-Might explained
"Make sense" Penny said smiling
"I told the groups that the villains have five minutes to set things up, once that is up the good guys will be let loose" All Might said going to the computer
"Ida is going to need more then that to get Bakugo to work with him" Oscar said knowing how hot tempered he could be
"Hey Ruby, you and Oscar know both Izuku and Bakugo the most, right?" Crystal asked "In your opinion how is this one going to go?"
"Well, with Bakugo things will get messy, plus Izuku was always scared of him, I am hoping that Izuku can conquer his fear and show Bakugo what he is really made of" Ruby said thinking
"Boy, it sounds like Bakugo is a real jerk" Kirishima said rubbing his head
"Alright! Let's begin the Indoor Combat Training!" All Might said on the microphone to let the two teams know "Team A and Team D, your time starts now!"
Everyone looks at the monitor and All Might said "Pay attention kids, think about what you would do"
"Well, here we go" Crystal said watching
"Oh, this is both exciting and worrying" Mina said eager to see what happens
The all watch the monitor and see Izuku and Ochaco enter via a window and carefully make their way through the tight corridors.
"Blindspots and tight spaces, a lot of potential areas for ambushes" Penny said thinking
Just then Bakugo comes from around the corner and attacks, but Izuku avoids it and moves Ochaco out the way. They were undamaged but Izuku's mask was half damaged
"He almost got the jump on him!" Mineta points out
"Sneak attack Bakugo! What kind of man pulls crap like that?" Kirishima said angered
"To be fair, it is a move a villain would pull" Crystal said in observation
"Exactly Crystal, it is a viable strategy. He is acting the part, acting as any villain would" All Might said in agreement
"I am pretty sure it is still Bakugo being himself just unleased more" Oscar said sweat dropping
"But it didn't work, Midorya dodged it" Mina said smiling
"Look there he goes!" Denki said seeing Bakugo beginning to charge forward
On the camera they see Bakugo charging forward and about to punch but Izuku catches his left arm (Izuku's POV) and then moves and flips Bakugo over his shoulder and slams him onto the ground. This shocked Oscar and Ruby and from the look on Bakugo's face during it, it surprised him too.
"Wow, how did he do that?" Penny said surprised
"Come to think of it, didn't Izuku have info on Bakugo as well in his notebooks?" Oscar asked remembering
"Yeah! He is using all the knowledge he learned, so cool!" Ruby said in amazement
On the screen they see what looks to be Bakugo talking to himself but the camaras only catch visiuals not sound and Kirishima asked "Hey, who is Bakugo talking to? Hey, can we get some sound with this video, I'm not hearing anything"
"Same, can't believe this only is catching visual" Crystal said sighing
"He has a radio in his ear so he can talk to his partner" All Might said answering Kirishima's question "I gave it to him before the match started, along with a map of the building. Also this…" He holds up what looks like white tape "A roll of capture tape, wrapping this around your opponent means you apprehended them and there out for the rest of the game."
"I see, logging that information" Penny said smiling
"So there's a 15 minute time limit and the good guys have no idea what floor the weapon is hidden on right?" Mina asked
"Correct!" All Might said smiling
"Well that means the heroes are at a massive disadvantage in this scenario" Oscar said surprised
"Real pros have to outwit villains on a daily basis" All Might said "That's life, even when the odds aren't in our favor, we fight" This impressed the whole class "All together!"
"It's hero plus ultra!" The class calls out
"Monsieur, he's on the move" Aoyama said looking at the screen
The look and see Bakugo move to attack Izuku again as Ochaco runs off and Bakugo goes with a kick which Izuku blocks using the capture tape then avoids another punch from him.
"Phew, that was a close one" Ruby said relieved
"Little guy's really good" Sato said
"He's holding his own and he hasn't even used his quirk yet" Sero points out
"Not surprising, he has made countless notes on many heroes" Ruby said with a nod
"Well, it is coming in handy in this battle I will say" Crystal said smiling
"Indeed, but if Bakugo knows that he might try to be less predictable" Penny points out
They see Bakugo prepare to attack but Izuku then runs off and Bakugo chases him but due to the maze-like structure of the building halls loses sight of him. Which angers him beyond belief
"That guy has some real anger issues. Kinda scary" Denki said
"Trust me, you have no idea" Oscar said as Ruby nods in agreement
"That ego he probably has, will be his downfall if he doesn't get it checked" Crystal said as they see Bakugo blasting in and searching rooms
"Maybe so but even like this he is dangerous to go up against" Penny said thinking "His quirk makes it hard to fight him point blank."
"Which means Midoreya will have to be smart and out manoeuvre him" Tokoyama suggests
On the screen they also see Ochaco has down the room where Ida and the weapon are located and for some reason, she starts laughing revealing herself to Ida and Ida began acting very awkwardly and over the top movements
"Err…what is happening?" Ruby asked concerned
"If I had to guess, given how serious Ida is, he is taking the role of a villain very serious" Crystal said sweat dropping
"Yeah, that sounds about right from what we are seeing" Jiro said sighing
"There is only 6 minutes left on the clock" Oscar said looking at the time.
"It also looks like Ida removed everything but the bomb from the room, Ochaco will have a hard time getting to the bomb with Ida's speed" Kirishima adds in
However, the group then see Bakugo has found Izuku and raised his right gauntlet (Bakugo's POV) and aims it at Izuku
"Err…that gauntlet glowed red a moment, right? What does that mean?" Ruby asked concerned
"I am not sure I want to know" Oscar said.
They then see Bakugo smirk and cock the gauntlet handle revealing a pin in it ready to be pulled.
"Young Bakugo! Don't do it!" All Might said being the only one to hear the dialogue "You'll kill him!"
"Wait what is he doing?!" Crystal asked
They see the hole in the gauntlet charge up and as soon as Bakugo pulls the pin a large explosion of fire shoots out towards Izuku and destroys much of the building floor they were on
"Woah! This is nuts!" Kirishima said as the room around them shakes
"Is he insane?!" Crystal asked worried
"Come in! Come in Midorya!" All Might said on the mike to find out if Izuku was okay.
Ruby was concerned worried for Izuku's safety
They see Izuku was alright, some of his costume was destroyed and see Bakugo approaching impressed with the power of his gauntlets as the one he didn't use flashes red showing it was ready to fire now.
"Phew…. close one" Oscar said relived
"Sir, isn't this getting out of hand?" Kirishima asked "That Bakugo is acting real crazy, he's going to kill him"
"I agree, this is very clear to much for acting the part" Penny said nodding
"Not so" All Might said in response surprising some of them, but he gets on the mike and said "Bakugo, use that stored up power again and I will stop this fight, your team will lose. To employ such a strong attack indoors is inviting the destruction of the stronghold you should be protecting. That's a poor strategy whether you're a hero or a villain. The penalty will be a massive loss of points"
This news seems to annoy and angered Bakugo and during it Izuku was talking on his ear piece to Ochaco on a plan, when finished Bakugo charges in and attacks. Izuku tries to counter but Bakugo blocks the punch and moves over him to hit him in the back.
"What was that move?" Kirishima said shocked as the others
"He doesn't come off as a guy with a strategy, but he is actually quite intelligent" Shoto said
"What are you talking about?" Kirishima asked
"I think I know; he changed his trajectory using a blast and had it also act as a smokescreen" Penny said nodding "Quite a smart move to play"
"Exactly" Shoto said nodding
"A feint attack like that requires an extreme amount of precision" Momo states "He had to calculate the physics and control of his quirk"
"Bakugo is uber talented, I hate it" Denki groans
"Yeah, but I have to admit he knows how his quirk works and how best to use it to his advantage" Ruby said sighing
On the screen Bakugo slams his gauntlet into Izuku's side, grabs him, spins him around and then slams him into ground hard
"Oh man that is way too rough!" Crystal said shocked
"This is hard to watch! All he had to do was wrap tape around him not kill him!" Mina called out
"Bakugo is certainly acting like a villian" Tokoyami said
"Maybe, this my first time seeing him in action, and I can see it" Oscar said
"I thought Midorya was alright at the start at the fight, but he is completely outmatch in terms of combat power, not to mention Bakugo seems like a natural at all this stuff" Denki points out
"Also have to consider Bakugo was a bully to him for years" Ruby said sighing worried that the old fears may come to Izuku.
On the camara they see Izuku recover but then begin to run
"He's running away" Mina states
"Not very manly but he doesn't have a choice" Kirishima said sighing "He's out gunned, unless he's got some kind of plan, it's possible"
"Now you mention it, after that big explosion Bakugo caused, he was talking on his ear piece" Crystal said recalling "He could have planned something with Uraraka."
On the monitor they see Izuku come to a dead end and Bakugo approaches, the two exchange words before both charge at each other ready to exchange punches
"There going to kill each other! Sir!" Kirishima called out
"You have to stop the match now!" Penny called out worried
"Bot of you stop…" All Might said but stops as he hear Izuku say something
On the feed they see Ochaco grab onto a piller. Then as the punch collides, Izuku instead punches upwards blocking Bakugo's attack with his other arm but the force of his smash blows up through floors destroy much of the upper building all the way to the roof. Ochaco then uses the piller like a bat and hits many of the floating debris at Ida. She then leaps and grabs onto the bomb.
"Woah! That was impressive!" Crystal said surprised
"Yeah…" Ruby said surprised and concerned as the timer hits zero but she sees Izuku's condition, his arm he used to smash badly damaged and he has some bruises. She then sees Izuku fall onto the ground to pass out
"You did it…" All Might said and calls out "The hero team wins! Your indoor combat training is over"
"Not sure it's much of a victory" Oscar said worried
"Yeah, it's a weird way for this to end" Denki said nodding "The losers are practically untouched and the winners are both on the ground"
"How does the old saying go, they may have lost the battle, but they won the war" Tokoyami said thinking
"Yeah, that I feel fits here perfectly" Crystal said nodding
"This class is intense" Tsuyu states
"Can't agree more" Ruby adds concerned for Izuku's condition.
A while later, All Might returns with Bakugo, Ida and Ochaco. Izuku wasn't with them as he was taken to be healed up at the nurses office. Ruby now sees Bakugo looked to be in a state of shock
"Well that is new" Ruby said to herself but didn't enjoy seeing it as she was shocked how intense the fight went.
All Might then began the review on the match between Teams A and D. He said "Well despite the results, the MVP of this exercise is young Ida!"
This surprised everyone including Tenya on what all Might said
"Shouldn't it be one of the heroes instead because they're the winners?" Tsuyu asked
"Yeah, I mean it makes sense logically speaking" Penny adds in nodding
"Hmmmm, valid question! Why didn't I choose one of those two? Who has a guess?" All Might asked
"Sir, I can tell you why!" Momo said raising her hand "Ida embraced this challenge, he's the only one who adapted to his assigned role." This stunned everyone
I'll explain, Bakugo's judgement was clouded by a personal grudge against Midorya as you pointed out earlier, launching a large scale attack indoors was a foolish move, it could have been disastrous." Momo explained "Similarly Midorya's plan was also poorly thought out, considering the amount of damage he received, he rendered himself helpless, not smart."
"Yeah well, you weren't there but Midorya has little control on his quirk and given the situation he barely had time to think of another plan" Crystal pointed out
"Understandable but still that plan is why he probably wasn't chosen as MVP" Momo points out and continues "As for Uraraka, she let her guard down mid-battle and her final attack was far too reckless given the hypothetical stakes. If she treated the fake weapon as if it were real, she never would have risked using such an improscied move. Ida was fully prepared for his opponents arrive, he had a strategy and never lost sight of his mission to protect the dummy weapon. Even if he was foiled in the end." These words amazed Ida
"Don't get a big head that Ida" Crystal said rolling her eyes
"Technically the hero team won yes, but they took advantage that this was only training, they didn't respect the spirit trial" Momo finished
Needless to say everyone was quiet, Ruby in awestruck said "Sooo cool…" She said in amazement.
"Yes, well you overlooked a few things" All Might said in shock at how observant Momo was "Young Ida could have relaxed a little bit during the exercise, but overwise you nailed it." He gives a thumbs up.
"One should always start with the basics and devote oneself wholeheartedly to learning. That's only the really way to become a top hero" Momo states firmly
"Maybe, but I am sure there are many ways to become a hero" Oscar said thinking
"Now, then time to blow this joint, let's move on to the next match" All Might said smiling as he is by the lot boxes again "Think about everything we saw and discussed as you tackle this training for yourself"
"Yes sir!" The class said.
Ruby looks to Oscar who nods, the battles could get intense so the have to work together to come win this.
Wow, well that was intense, next time we will see Ruby's indoor battle trial.
