Chapter three Why Cyberbots Exist

Whirr and Sixgun entered Prowl's office.

"Prowl, I've got good news and bad news," said Whirr as he stood in front of the Praxian's desk.

"Great, I'll hear the bad news first," said the tactician as he looked up at the two mecha in front of him.

"Brunt and Vortex are nowhere to be found, they've successfully escaped this time," said Sixgun.

Prowl frowned, "What's the good news?"

"The designs for the next two Cyberbots are complete, and I can start working on their assembly," replied Whirr.

"Good work, Whirr. I'm sure that they will serve Cybertron well," said Prowl.

The scientist nodded, and turned around to exit the room.

"One more thing before you go," said the tactician.

"Yes, what is it?" asked Whirr as he turned back around to face Prowl.

"With those two Cyberbots you are planning to start making, that makes seven, right?" asked the Praxian.

"Yes, I suppose it does," Whirr smiled.

"These Cyberbots can't be cheap to make, so where does their funding come from?" the Praxian asked.

"Oh you know, a few offworld part suppliers. You could say that I know a few Cybertronians that can get the right mech in a pinch," Whirr answered.

"Interesting," Prowl said, "But who pays for these parts?"

"I do," replied Whirr.

"Yes, but who supplies said funds for you?" asked the tactician.

"Banks and contractors," replied the scientist.

"I see. You may go now," said Prowl.

Whirr and Sixgun left without another word.

Aragon opened the ground-bridge in Whirr's lab, and Whirr disappeared through it.

The scientist stepped out of the ground-bridge on the other side, and it closed behind him.

Whirr was on one of the lower levels of Kaon.

A large mech met him there. "Follow me. He's been waiting for you," he said.

The red and white helicopter followed the large, dark coloured mech down a dark passage until they stopped in front of a door.

The large mech knocked three times and said his name.

Another mech, a little bigger than Whirr, opened the door from the other side.

The large mech led Whirr into the room.

Straight in front of them was a large throne, on which yet another large mech sat.

The large mech that led Whirr there stepped to one side.

"Whirr, it's been sometime since our last meeting," said Viper, the mech on the throne.

"Yes, it has," said Whirr.

"I should assume that in that time you have finished your project?" asked Viper.

"I have," answered the scientist.

The crime lord smiled evilly. "Good. Very good. Let's see it."

"Well, you see I didn't bring them with me."

"Them?"

"Yes, there are four of them now, and two more in the making."

Viper smiled again, "That's very impressive, Whirr. Bring them in.

Whirr called Aragon for a ground-bridge.

When the ground-bridge appeared, Whirr stepped through.

When he back in the lab, the four Cyberbots were there.

"I want you all to come with me this time," said the scientist.

"Where are we going?" asked Cog.

"To meet someone important," replied Whirr.

"When you get through to the other side of the ground-bridge, you can't mention that we're Autobots," said the scientist.

"Wait, why not?" asked Sixgun.

"Because the mecha we are going to meet do not like Autobots. That's why my insignia is covered," Whirr explained.

Whirr stepped through the ground-bridge and the four Cyberbots followed him.

When the five Autobots were back in Viper's throne room, Whirr closed the ground-bridge with a button on his wrist gauntlet. "Viper, meet the Cyberbots."

Viper got to his pedes and walked over to Aragon. "Impressive, Whirr. This is the first one, isn't it?"

"Yes he is," said Whirr.

"Cyberbot, what is your name?" asked Viper.

"Aragon," said the red, black, and silver Cyberbot.

Viper smiled evilly and moved on to inspect Sixgun.

"Smaller, but still at least as affective. What is your name?" Viper asked.

"I'm Sixgun," replied the red and white Cyberbot.

The crime lord moved to Cog. "Now this is a work of art, so massive, so… powerful!" smiled Viper. "And what do they call you, my large friend?"

"Cog," replied the dark blue and black Cyberbot.

Viper stepped in front of Ironworks to inspect him. "Last but far from least. And what name has the biggest of the Cyberbots, may I ask?"

"I'm Ironworks. What's your name?" asked the friendly dark grey, black, and yellow Cyberbot.

"Viper, leader of the Cyber-Hound syndicate, crime lord of Kaon," replied Viper, then he turned and walked back to sit in his throne. "Whirr, these creations of yours are incredible, how you ever manage to do it I will never understand, but I congratulate you nonetheless, for you used my resources wisely."

Aragon turned to Whirr, "You got a crime lord to provide you with our parts?"

Whirr quickly answered, "I bought your parts from him, he didn't give them to me."

"That's still black market dealing," said Aragon, "Good to know that we were created illegally."

The scientist frowned as Aragon looked back at Viper.

"I kind of wish I did just provide you with the parts instead because owning these Cyberbots would be greatly beneficial to our cause," said Viper.

"If he doesn't own us, then why do we have to be here?" asked Sixgun.

"It was a deal we made, that Whirr would show me what he was building if I sold him the parts he needed," explained the crime lord.

"I see," said Sixgun.

"Alright, you've seen them now we have to go," said Whirr as he opened the ground-bridge and sent the four Cyberbots through.

"Until next time, Whirr," said Viper as the scientist started to enter the ground-bridge. "I'll be waiting," he said leaning forward in his throne.

Then Whirr disappeared into the ground-bridge.

When the five Autobots got back into the lab, Whirr closed the ground-bridge.

"I hope you all aren't too mad," began Whirr.

"Not too mad? Are you serious? That mech probably works with the Decepticons! He probably used the credits you gave him to find them some of the weapons that they used to kill so many Autobots during the war!" said Aragon.

"He can't be that bad," said Ironworks, "I thought he was rather friendly."

"He called me his friend," said Cog.

"That's definitely not a good thing," said Aragon.

Sixgun said nothing and just leaned against the wall with his servos crossed.

"What's wrong, Sixgun?" asked the scientist.

"Ever since I've been back on Cybertron, I've wanted to work away at cleaning up this planet by ridding it of mecha like the Cyber-Hounds, but now that I know I exist because of those mecha…I'm going on patrol," said Sixgun as he left the lab.

"I feel sort of betrayed, in a way," said Aragon.

"I'm sorry, I had no other choice," said Whirr.

"Is that right?" said Aragon as he started walking out of the lab.

"Wait, I have something important to tell you," said the scientist.

Aragon turned around to face Whirr.

"I'm not the one who came up with the idea to start making Cyberbots. It was my best friend's for vorns before the war, before I joined the Protectobots. He brought the idea to me and worked on it with me. Then, we joined up with the Protectobots, and worked on our ideas when we could. Then, the war started and we had even less time, but we always found time. It was something we were passionate about, it made our friendship stronger," Whirr told them.

"What happened to him? Where is he now?" asked Aragon.

The scientist had a sad look on his faceplate as he continued. "We were almost done with the production of our first prototype when we were called away on a mission. We were told that there was an Insecticon creature near our sector that we had to check out. It was Bug. We went into the building to take him down, but we didn't know he was carrying a large explosion to blow up the building. Bug attacked us, my friend pushed me out the window when he saw the bomb. I transformed and landed on the ground safely just as the explosion went off. He was blasted out the window. I ran over to him, he grabbed my hand, and the last thing he said to me before he died was 'Finish it.' In the moment I was filled with sorrow and rage and thought he meant kill Bug, but later looked back on that orn. I know he meant for me to finish the Cyberbots to create you, Aragon."

"What was his name?" asked Sixgun, from behind Aragon.

Whirr smiled to see Sixgun had been listening, "Wrotor."
