It was a good day today. Sundays were always well appreciated by Dr. Myers who was sitting back in an armchair, holding a tiny baby. Looking Into the baby girl's face, he could see the resemblance between her and her mother; the same red hair, same blue eyes, same petite figure. Hopefully, she'd get Cody's intelligence too, he thought with a smile.
He remembered how Cody had finally come to get little Angel here...a certain saying related to her and Squib's relationship.
There are 3 rings in marriage: the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and the suffering.
After dating for 3 years, Squib had finally popped the question and Cody had of course accepted. A year later, they had gotten married. A fine celebration, it had been.
Then came the suffering part…
They just couldn't seem to live a day in their life without arguing. Love was always present but it went by ignored sometimes. Perhaps the fact that they had different careers also tore them apart. Squib had his international tournaments to go to which Cody could only sometimes accompany him too because she also had her articles to do. Being a head journalist and photographer, her work was always needed and valued.
Compromises only got them to a certain point. Then Squib missed their first anniversary and Cody was busy on his birthday and neither even gave Valentine's Day a thought.
One day, Cody got too emotional and left Squib. She came back to live with her father where Squib came so many times to persuade her to come back. After a few more visits, things turned exceptionally nasty.
"Why can't you just leave me alone!" Cody had shouted.
"You're my wife, that's why!" Squib had shouted back.
"Well you certainly don't treat me like your wife! Actually, I'll just stop being a burden to you altogether! I want a divorce! Not get out!" and she had pushed him out of the house.
Hartley remembered asking her to talk to him about things but she had said no, thinking she could deal with it all by herself. However, Squib wouldn't agree to the divorce. Cody personally went to him to talk about it and came back all smiles.
At first, it seemed as though the cause of her happiness was that he had signed the divorce papers but then it was revealed that they had made up. Turns out she was pregnant too.
And after that, their marriage went quite blissfully. Except for the day that squib emerged from the birthing room with quite a few bruises on his arms and a red hand mark on his face. Still, Bliss continued.
Now, old Hartley was rocking his grand-daughter Angel to sleep. He sincerely hoped she wouldn't betray her name and turn to be as mischievous as Squib had been and considering that Cody wasn't any better… God have mercy…
