Enjoy the chapter folks!
Percy 4 Days & 50 Minutes After Eripus
In an instant the air around him was alive with sparks as both riptide and the silver sword Cal had given him whistled through the air, intercepting arrows, spear thrusts and the almost unending attacks coming from the enraged Artemis.
The rage he felt over the fate of his mother and sister was all consuming, and it fueled each of his strikes, the air around him was alive with arcane sparks as each of his sword blows set off miniature explosions, like gunshots.
Energy crackled about him as a dozen blows were exchanged in moments, even for Percy as skilled with a sword as he was, it was relentless. He was quickly forced to leap backwards, narrowly avoiding a series of purple energy blasts that slammed into the ground where he had been standing. Sending mud and rocks flying in every direction as the ground sizzled and sparked with purple flames.
As he landed, Percy cast his gaze at Dionysus, who was standing beside Thalia's Tree atop the hill grinning like a madman as he summoned more of that crackling purple energy and launched it at Percy.
Without a word Percy looked at the projectiles and tilted his head slightly as he tapped into the Aetherium around him. Watching with a slight smirk as the projectiles fizzled out midair, long before they could hit him. In response Percy sent a surge of water and ice in Dionysus' direction, as his sea green aura surged outwards from him, lighting the dark night with an eerie greenish glow.
The wild grin on Dionysus' face, turning first to confusion and then horror as he tried in vain to use his powers. However, he realized too late what was going on as the wave of water and ice slammed into him with the force of a small missile. Blasting the Wine god backwards out of the camp with a pained scream. However, Percy was tired and the level of concentration to block an Olympian's power was staggering, the minute Dionysus was out of eyesight he felt the connection break, and his ability to dampen Dionysus' domain powers vanished.
Not that it mattered much, he thought to himself grimly.
He barely had a chance to breathe before Athena and Artemis were on top of him again, their weapons working in perfect unison as they forced Percy backwards. Athena staying out of his range with her longer spear. Meanwhile, Artemis dashing right up at him, throwing out dozens of rapid fire thrusts with her knives as his armor slowly began to crumble under the relentless assault the Goddesses were laying down.
It had already been in bad shape after his fight with the Titans, but several direct blows from Artemis knives had cracked and shattered his cuirass so badly that every impact sent more and more chunks of metal raining to the ground.
He used every weapon he had in his disposal, summoning blasts of water as easily as he swung his sword. He could feel his skin steaming even now, the runes carved into his skin burning white hot as they countered the effects of so much Aetherium in his body.
But he wasn't done yet, he hadn't come this far to be denied vengeance he thought to himself in a wild frenzy as the voices of thousands screamed in his head, all of them demanding, begging for blood. Olympian blood, and Percy was happy to provide it.
Percy's eyes flashed with power as all around him razor sharp spikes of ice exploded upwards out of the ground, thrusting into the air as Artemis was forced to leap backwards. Then with a flick of his hand, Percy sent the wall of ice exploding outwards, sending shards flying outwards like a spray of shrapnel. Athena, who was directly in the way of the blast, was forced to raise her shield to protect herself.
A flick of riptide sent a wave of condensed water flying at Athena, slamming into her shield just as she raised it. Sending her reeling backwards, her heels digging trenches in the soft soil as she struggled to stay upright between the combined attack.
Artemis on the other hand screamed out in rage as her aura surged into existence, casting a silvery glow across the camp to combat the sickly green of Percy's as the shards of ice were vaporized mid air, along with a sizeable portion of the ground around her.
"Just give up boy…. You can't hope to W-UGHK" Artemis choked out.
She had opened her mouth to scream out some insult, but Percy was too fast. Having started running at her the second his wall of ice exploded. Rushing right through the surge of power her aura had pulsed outwards. Even as it tore the ruined remains of his cuirass off he didn't stop, instead leaping forwards and kicking out with his front foot.
The blow connected with Artemis' chest, sending her hurtling backwards away from him with a dull boom as she crashed into something farther into the camp.
He landed with a well practiced roll as he came up with his blades crossed over his head, barely catching the downward thrust Athena had already launched at the back of his head.
Electing to drop his silver sword he reached up and grabbed the haft of the spear in an iron grip. A small grin splitting his face as he felt Athena tug at it in increasing panic as he stained every muscle in his body. Ripping the spear from her grasp and sending her stumbling towards him.
Right as he launched himself to his feet and snapped his head backwards, Crashing the back of his helmet into the front of Athena's as a grunt of pain was heard from her.
Then spinning on the spot he lunged forwards, punching out with all his strength as Athena brought Aegis up in front of herself.
The impact was like a giant Gong as it rang out around the pair for an instant, before Athena was rocketed backwards off her feet, slamming into the ground a short distance away and gouging a trench in it.
"Well, the tales might actually live up to the beast itself" Dionysus said in a shaky voice as suddenly Percy's entire world seemed to tilt sideways. He glanced up to see Dionysus, his eyes swirling with purple energy as a strange mist seeped from his staff to cover the grounds of the camp.
Percy immediately tried to focus, and tried to tap into the Aetherium around him to dispel whatever magic Dionysus was using. But everything was spinning, his mouth felt dry and his senses were screaming that he was in danger. Everything felt so surreal and the entire night was lit in strange purple and blue hues.
Percy tried to stand, wincing as his vision blurred causing him to stumble and grab at his head with his free hand as he groaned; it felt like a razor hot spike or metal was being driven into his skull at the moment. He tried to reach out and focus on Dionysus, but the pain in his head was all consuming as he stumbled about in a daze.
"But even you rely on your sight like any other mortal. Perhaps we should see how well you do when it betrays you" Dionysus said with an evil chuckle as suddenly there were a dozen images of the God of Madness, standing on the hill all around him laughing.
Percy looked at them in shock as he tried to tell which one was real, a thick purple mist was swirling around on the ground all about him as he shook his head viciously. Trying to shake off whatever illusion or magic Dionysus had cast. Unfortunately his efforts were pretty unsuccessful, as instead he ended up feeling motion sick.
He retched slightly, before his instincts drove him to dive to his left, a dozen blasts of fiery energy whipped towards him in unison as he rolled across the ground. Avoiding most of the blasts only to get hit in the chest by one of them as he came out his roll, the real one. The impact sent him crashing into the earth, before he skipped backwards across the ground a few times, coming to rest face down in the mud, struggling to breath through his cracked ribs.
The strange purple fire burned at his skin even as the black smoke from his curse swirled in the air around him. Percy grit his teeth, feeling the blood dripping from his nose as his vision faded back and forth between light and dark, leaving him struggling and half blind as he tried to get to his feet.
The air around him was alive with mocking laughter, courtesy of the God of madness and it seemed to echo around him, coming from all directions and nowhere all at once. "I don't see what all the concern was, sure you bested the Titans. But they were weak, soon enough we will have you in chains and then my father will understand how unfounded his concerns were" Dionysus said haughtily.
Percy tried to focus on Dionysus, to find the real one and cancel out his command over the domain. Unfortunately the other two goddesses chose this moment to make their second Appearance, both of them covered in mud and their armor scratched and dented.
Percy forced himself to his feet, trying to ignore the blood dripping from his nose and mouth, or the pain in his chest that came and went with each breath. He looked at the Goddesses, the hate in their expressions plain as day as he struggled to focus.
However, it would be more accurate to say the dozen goddesses, as their forms shimmered and appeared hazy before solidifying once more, with six angry warlike versions of Athena, and six versions of Artemis glaring at him.
"Fuck…." Percy grunted out as he held his hand out, and the silver sword he had discarded previously flew back into his waiting grasp.
"I told you, you stand no chance at winning, boy. Now drop the blades Ardwyrian, You are hereby charged with crimes against the children of Olympus and my hunters!" All six versions of Artemis barked out angrily.
"Give up now, and we will spare you the pain my sister is no doubt planning to inflict on you before you die…." Dionysus and his clones drawled out in an almost bored voice.
Percy looked at the Gods, angrily spitting out blood from his mouth as he spun both swords over in his grip once and assumed a fighting stance. His eyes blazed with power as he remained silent and just glared at the Gods. "Last warning you'll get, move… or I'll make you move." Percy growled out in a deadly voice.
"Exactly what I hoped you would say" Artemis snarled out as all six of them lunged towards Percy.
Percy exploded into action, his swords weaving about him as he called on the powers of the Tartarean. Winds exploded into a miniature hurricane around him as he tried to fend off all the attacks. Surrounded instantly by the mirror images of Artemis he went on the defensive.
A scream tore free from his throat as he went to block a series of downwards strikes, only for the real Artemis to slash both her knives across his back. Sending a spray of red blood into the air as he stumbled forwards.
Like a flash of lighting six perfect copies of Artemis lunged back towards him as he frantically tried to blow all the attacks she had launched. He couldn't tell what was what, he needed a moment to think, to collect himself.
Only he was surrounded by a half dozen perfect copies of Artemis, and all of them were attacking him independently. In short order he stood there, his chest and left arm covered in slashes as he blood ran in small rivulets down his chest.
Each breath was agony, he needed a moment to focus, he thought groggily as he struggled to stay on his feet. But the three gods wouldn't give it to him, as more and more wounds were collected across his legs, arms and torso as he frantically tried to protect himself.
Percy leapt backwards, a blast of water slamming Artemis into the ground as she leapt back to her feet nearly instantly, Covered in mud and spitting curses as she drew another pair of knives and charged at him.
Athena meanwhile had leapt him, her spear working through complex thrusts and slashes as he tried to figure out which spear he had to block, meanwhile Artemis was like a wild animal, her knives and arms coated in blood as she slashed away at him in a frenzy.
A dozen blows landed on him in less than a minute as he finally seized an opportunity when Artemis kicked him in the back. He allowed the momentum to carry him forwards, tucking into a roll and diving underneath a thrust from Athena's spear, allowing Percy to slide across the ground. Riptide flashed outwards above his head, cutting deep into Athena's leg as she howled in pain. Then as his slide stopped he leapt forwards, Slashing out with both swords as he approached Dionysus, only to stumble as he went right through the illusion brought about by Dionysus and his Domain of Madness.
A roar of anger escaped his lips as he was forced to dive for cover behind several trees as a dozen more blasts of purple fire slammed into the hill around him. He could feel the heat from the explosion, but he also knew only some of them were real.
Percy was desperately trying to come up with a plan, his sleep deprived and exhausted body holding him back at every turn as it begged for rest.
His respite was short lived as another rain of arrows hammered into the ground all around him, as he spotted Chiron a short distance away, his bow aimed at Percy as he fired several arrows in rapid succession.
A quick slash of his sword sent a wave of water racing outwards, knocking the arrows off course as Percy felt Athena and Artemis racing towards his back. Their divine auras pulsing with power as they approached him from behind.
Whipping around he screamed out in anger as he lifted his silver sword and pointed it at the tree he had been hiding behind. "IGNARI!" He screamed as reality warped around him and a stream of white hot fire roared out from the silver sword.
Incinerating the cluster of trees in an instant as it blasted outwards into the sky, Percy then called upon the blessing of Thaye and leveled Riptide in Chiron's direction. Sending a blast of jagged ice rushing outwards, forcing the immortal centaur to retreat backwards and avoid being crushed and impaled by the ice.
He knew he hadn't bought himself much time as he frantically tried to focus on Dionysus' power, trying to identify which one was him from the mass of illusions. However, he saw both Artemis and Athena standing a short distance away, their armor steaming as a dozen more clones of them sprang into existence.
"Enough of the games Dionysus!" Percy roared in anger as he looked at the grinning illusions of the God of Madness.
"Oh but the games are just getting started" The illusions replied as one as their eyes glowed harshly with purple light.
Once more Percy felt like the ground was spinning underneath his feet as he struggled to stay standing. "Perhaps a touch of true madness, the whispering voices in the dark are better suited here. It's been so long since someone has been so resistant to my domain" Dionysus cackled as a swirling purple aura shimmered into existence around him.
Percy felt the voices clawing at his mind, whispering to him as he started to laugh.
At first Dionysus grinned, before his grin turned to a look of confusion at Percy's laughter. "Fuck, if this is what you consider a lot of voices in your head, we should swap places some time" Percy grunted out as he stopped laughing with a wheeze.
Percy felt the explosive increase in pressure as Dionysus exerted his control over the domain and the dozen voices turned into hundreds all screaming as Percy winced slightly. It still wasn't much compared to the voices Eko and Thaye's blessings had tapped him into.
"Not bad, but not good enough" Percy replied with a grunt as he looked at Athena and Artemis. Both of whom were sporting similar looks of anger and concern on their faces as they watched him.
Dionysus just looked at him, his mouth agape as the veins on his neck bulged and his face flushed gold in anger.
Athena and Artemis shared a quick look before they both charged forward, sending a dozen mirror images of the two olympians rushing at him as Percy readied his swords once more.
In an instant he was surrounded as his swords were a blur of silver and bronze in the air around him, each and every strike that Athena and Artemis launched was met by one of Percy's swords, he wasn't trying to counter their blows anymore. Having shifted entirely onto defense.
Try as they might neither Athena or Artemis could get past the whirlwind of silver and bronze around him, and slowly their looks of anger turned into looks of shock. That was when Percy struck.
Riptide lashed out towards Athena forcing her to lift her shield and block the thrust. Percy had expected this and took a step forwards leaping into the air with a spin as he did so.
This allowed him to block the double thrust from Artemis which had been aimed at his back. Sending a fan of sparks into the air as his aura roared out around him and he channeled all the power he could muster into his leg.
Which he whipped around behind him before lashing out against Athena's already raised shield.
The ensuing blast could have rivaled a small artillery shell.
Aegis went flying out of her hands, steam trailing from the shield as it slammed into Thalia's pine tree, embedding itself nearly two feet deep into the tree, sizzling gently as rain splattered against it.
Athena was sent crashing to the ground, her shield arm mangled and broken as she howled in pain, dropping her spear to clutch at her shattered arm.
Percy meanwhile was launched backwards, sliding to a stop some distance away as Artemis looked at Athena lying on the ground in horror. Then a blast of silver light surrounded the moon goddess before she turned around to face him. A silver glass like bow held in her hands as her eyes burned with power.
"YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT ARDWYR…." Artemis growled out as she pulled the bowstring back and two arrows, seemingly crafted of silver starlight appeared on the string.
"Oh for fucks sake…." Percy groaned out as Artemis loosed the two arrows, as did each one of her illusionary clones.
Percy dove backwards, frantically sending out a wave of water which he solidified to ice in a dome like structure ahead of himself.
The instant the arrows impacted the dome of ice an explosion went off, sending Percy tumbling backwards across the ground as what may as well have been a miniature sun exploded into existence for a moment. Charring the ground and leaving a crater several feet deep.
Percy was already up and sprinting when Artemis drew the bow back a second time.
Dozens of bolts of purple fire and silver arrows filled his vision as they all raced towards him, leaving him no option but to throw up a barrier of water. Condensing it as much as he could before the ground and the very air around him exploded.
The blast blew him off his feet as he laid on the ground, coughing as the water evaporated into steam around him in the heat of the explosion. Every muscle in Percy's body was beyond exhausted, it hurt just to lie one the ground let alone move. But he knew he couldn't just lie here, he could already feel Artemis and Dionysus drawing on their domains as they harnessed more power.
With a groan of pain Percy forced himself back to his feet once more, his armor having mostly been blasted or burned away as he stood there his skin steaming and patches of it charred almost to the bone. His vision was patchy and he could feel the life draining from his body as his vision blacked out for a moment causing him to stumble.
Just as he had managed to regain his balance he was hit in the chest by the haft of Athena's spear as she spun it about in some fancy move before hitting him with it like a bat, shattering his ribs and sending him crashing through the Arts pavilion before skipped across the lake and backwards further into the camp before he slammed into the Demeter Cabin. Ripping the walls apart like paper as the cabin fell apart around him.
Blood bubbled from his nose and mouth as he felt the curse burn his chest, watching the black smoke billow upwards from his mouth.
Everything was so quiet as bits and pieces of the wall collapsed to the ground, and the whole cabin shuddered. With a groan he rolled over, blood pooling on the ground underneath him as he felt the curse knitting his skin back together. His cracked bones realigned as the pain in the back of his skull left him feeling numb.
He stumbled to his feet with his teeth clenched as he looked around the ruined cabin, his eyes easily piercing the darkness.
Thats when he spied the dozen or so campers huddled within the cabin looking at him in terror.
Two of the older campers were holding swords in shaking hands, the blades leveled at him as they locked eyes.
Both of them were in their late teens at least, with long brown hair that descended to mid back in delicate curls. Their skin was tanned a golden brown, clearly from long hours spent outside, and their hands were calloused and dirty. As his gaze traveled back up to meet theirs he noticed that regardless of how badly their hands may have trembled their green eyes were filled with determination.
"G-Get away from him" one of the girls shouted out as she pointed her sword at him.
Percy just looked at her in confusion as he turned to see a younger demigod, a boy. Perhaps ten years old crouched on the floor near him, his eyes wide in terror as he trembled on the floor no more than three feet from Percy, frozen in fear.
Percy felt strange, like he should know who these two were, they looked so familiar… but he just couldn't place it as he stared at them intently. Riptide still dripping ichor held loosely in one hand.
"I told you to get away from my little brother!" The one girl screamed out as she rushed forwards.
'Katie no!" The other one shouted as she rushed in right behind the other girl.
Both of them lashing out with their swords as Percy simply took a step back, swaying out of the way of the sword strikes as his confusion slowly morphed into anger.
Why were they attacking him!? It's not his fault their own goddess launched him like a baseball into one of the campers cabins. In fact Percy had been pretty adamant about keeping the demigods out of the fight.
It was the Gods who put them in danger, why did no one seem to understand that!?
Why did everyone want him dead!? He was just trying to protect them!
All these thoughts and more raced through his head in an instant before he almost snarled in anger and with a contemptuous strike, followed by the clang of metal blades crashing together. He sent both of their swords clattering to the ground at their feet as he leveled a hate filled glare at the two of them.
"Don't blame me for your God's mistakes…. Now get out of here before you get caught up in what's coming" He growled out as he walked away from the stunned terror stricken demigods. Still confused as to why they seemed so familiar, he couldn't remember being friends with any daughters of Demeter, he must have just seen them around camp before.
He stepped out of the crumbling cabin, his eyes locked into a fierce glare as he spotted the Gods walking towards him, Athena her mangled arm already healed and Artemis both sporting looks of anger as they spied the cabin behind him. Behind them Dionysus was looking visibly tired with the effort of maintaining this illusion while Percy fought against it every step of the way.
"Going to blame me for this too, Athena?" Percy said, his voice thick with anger as he watched the Goddess of Wisdom look at him, her gaze filled with uncertainty for a moment.
"If you had just surrun-" She started to say before she was forced to duck behind Aegis. A blast of Ice slamming into it and pushing her backwards as Percy extended his silver sword and pointed it in her direction. Artemis let out a scream of rage in response as she and her illusionary clones rushed towards him.
Percy instead waited until the last possible second, allowing Artemis' blade to slash across his chest before he responded, swinging his sword upwards on an angle directly in her path.
She was forced to throw both of her daggers in front of herself to block the blow, but was unable to move fast enough to prevent Percy kicking her in the side of the knee, sending her stumbling sideways away from him.
Just as she turned her head to look at him he punched out with his gauntlet, slamming the Tartarean steel into her temple and sending Artemis crashing to the ground with a groan. His sword twitched in his hand as his eyes glowed with power before he wrenched his gaze away from the goddess.
"I don't care how many tricks you use" Percy spat out in anger as he looked at Dionysus and Athena, "I just killed six fucking Titans, the three of you aren't going to be a problem"
The large gash on his chest leaked blood as he turned around and looked back at Athena and Dionysus. All of their Illusions looked concerned as they saw him walk away from Artemis' fallen body headed in their direction.
At the same moment, dozens of voices were heard as campers came rushing forwards from all around the camp, drawn to the sounds of the fighting.
Gasps and cries of panic were heard as the scene they looked upon was no doubt horrific.
Standing in the rain, in front of the ruined demeter cabin was Athena and Dionyus both looking tired and battered.
His cuirass had long ago been torn off, leaving only his right arm covered from his shoulder to his finger tips in the Tartarean metal that Nyx had gifted to him. He was missing a greave on his left leg, having lost it some time during his fight with the Titans and he was covered in his own blood, and splashes of Ichor.
Dozens of voices started to cry out in shock as Chiron crested the hill, his bow drawn as he fired another volley of Arrows in Percy's direction. He could hear the Demigods scrambling to grab weapons as Chirons voice rang out through the night.
Which forced Percy to make a decision, he could maintain the hurricane force winds around himself, and put all the campers at risk. Or he could release his hold on them and fight the gods at a disadvantage… but the demigods would be safer.
It really wasn't much of a choice as the howling winds and crackling energy around him died away, leaving him standing there with water streaming down his skin.
He could sense several demigods with swords drawn rushing towards him as he readied himself to move again, he wasn't going to drag them into his own personal battles. They didn't deserve to die for the Olympians.
"NO! HE IS BEYOND YOU! TAKE COVER AND LEAVE THIS TO US CHILDREN!" Chiron roared out as he fired the last of his arrows at Percy. Wincing as Percy deflected them with a swipe of his sword, sending another crescent like wave of water out through the air to knock them off course.
The demigods froze, standing in a large circle around the trio as they locked gazes and began their battle again.
Chiron then drew a large two handed sword from a sheathe as he charged towards Percy, rushing alongside Athena as Percy charged to meet them.
His silver sword was swung upwards as it intercepted Athena's spear, the ground underneath him cracking as he absorbed the force behind the blow. Riptide meanwhile crashed against Chiron's large two handed sword, the ear piercing grind of bronze on bronze rung out through the camp as the three combatants disengaged.
Panting heavily before all three lunged back at each other, their weapons a blur of bronze in the air around them as sparks flew in every direction.
Chiron may have been a master of the bow, but he was clearly no slouch with the sword as he whipped it back and forth with incredible speed, forcing Percy to work each arm independently to fend off his two attackers.
The camp was filled with screams and shouts of uncertainty and they melded with the screams and cries for vengeance in his head until he could barely hear himself think over all the noise.
But it didn't matter, he was so long past conscious thought that it was hilarious to think he was doing anything consciously. His swords almost seemed to move of their own accord as he fought like a dozen swordsmen.
He could feel the blades moving through the air, parting the moisture as he fell into a sort of trance, his eyes slipping shut as he relied solely on his instincts and his senses as he spread them out, feeling all the water in the air for nearly ten feet in every direction.
He drowned out everything else, ignoring the shouts from dozens of girls as they called out to Artemis. Ignoring the frantic screams from the demigods, and the roaring thunder from the storm overhead.
All that mattered was the spear and sword and the real bodies that held them as Percy grinned savagely as he kicked out at Athena, almost shouting out in victory as he made contact with the real goddess. A grunt came from her direction as the air was blasted out of her lungs and she was pushed backwards before Percy spun like a top, a rapid series of blows raining on Chiron's sword before Percy stopped and reversed the direction of his last swing.
His silver sword glowed with a green light as it collided with the bronze blade Chiron held, a sound like shattering glass rang out as Chiron's sword went spinning through the air in pieces, with bits of bronze raining down across the camp. Then his eyes glowing with power as Percy seized hold of the centaur's ichor and tossed him aside like a ragdoll.
Chiron went tumbling across the camp, rolling to a stop against one of the cabins as he laid still, not moving on the ground to the shocks and screams of dismay from the campers.
Dionysus looked at him in fear as Percy rushed forwards, his swords swinging towards the gods head as suddenly Percy froze in place.
In front of him stood Annabeth, looking at him in terror as his blades froze inches from her neck.
Percy couldn't breathe, he couldn't move. He knew it was an illusion but his body had locked up just the same. It was almost ironic when Annabeth's face suddenly twisted into a feral grin and she drove a dagger into his stomach.
Suddenly her body grew hazy before the illusions disappeared, revealing a sweating and trembling Dionysus holding a dagger in one hand. His Thyrsus staff in the other, "I don't know who or what you saw, but even you must have something you love" Dionysus said with a pant as he ripped the dagger out of Percy's stomach.
However Percy didn't scream, he didn't collapse. He barely even felt the pain as the sea green aura around him seemed to explode. The runes carved into his skin shone like stars as Percy felt more anger than he had ever known, than he had ever felt possible explode in his chest.
Even her.
They had somehow twisted even his memories of Annabeth against him.
Suddenly the ground around him started to shake as he felt something break. Like glass shattering as every droplet of water froze in the air around him, the droplets trembling slightly as they hung suspended. The air around him sparked with arcane energy as he looked at Dionysus with pure hatred, a look which froze the wine God to the spot. Unable to look away from the burning green orbs that had locked gaze with him from underneath the black helmet.
"DIONYSUS RUN!" Athena screamed out as she started to run towards Percy from behind.
The Wine god to his credit snapped from his frozen stupor and tried to make a run for it.
"Ceptari" Percy said almost half heartedly, not even noticing as he spoke in the old tongue. However, the air around Dionysus seemed to flex and warp, as a strange whooshing sound roared past Percy.
Dionyus took several steps forwards, and then it looked like a dozen swords had slashed him all at once. Ichor exploded in every direction as the God screamed in agony, one of his ankles was cut clean through, and he lost several fingers from his left hand causing him to drop his Thyrsus staff before he collapsed to the ground.
"I can do magic too… Want to see another trick?" Percy asked menacingly as he kicked Dionysus in the ribs, launching the god away from his symbol of power as Percy focused his command over the Aetherium. Snuffing out Dionysus's grasp on the domain in an instant.
An audible sigh of relief escaped Percy's lips as everything stopped spinning, and almost casually he turned around and parried Athena's spear thrust. Grinning as he sidestepped her and allowed her momentum to carry her past him.
"Payback time" Percy growled out as the various illusionary clones of Athena faded out of existence.
In a flash he was in front of her, both his swords already mid swing as she swung her spear down to block his strikes. With a roar Percy shoved her backwards, leaping after her, his swords a blur as Athena gave ground freely. The once confident look on her face quickly turned to one of panic.
Without her shield she lacked a way to protect herself up close, and up close is right where Percy wanted to be.
The pace the two were setting was incredible, each blow was masterfully parried and returned in a seemingly endless cycle as Athena continued to retreat farther and farther into the camp.
"So how long did you know?" Percy growled out as he stepped past a wild thrust of Athena's spear, batting it aside with ease and slashing his silver sword across her chest, ripping through the armor with ease and sending a splash of ichor across the ground.
Athena screamed out in pain and stumbled backwards, Percy following her every step of the way, never relenting in his assault. "Wha-WHAT are you talking about!?" Athena cried out as she tumbled backwards.
"DON'T LIE TO ME!" Percy Roared out in response.
Suddenly a dozen or so war cries filled the air around him as he turned to see demigods, swords and shields drawn rushing towards him. Dozens of blonde haired and gray eyed kids all with looks of rage on their face as they rushed to protect Athena.
Attacking Percy with wild abandon as the Blonde haired, Gray eyed kids forced him away from their mother. Not that Percy wanted to fight them.
A growl of frustration escaped his lips as he gave ground, backing away from the demigods, only blocking or avoiding their strikes as Athena hobbled backwards away from him.
"THIS IS HOW YOU FIGHT! AFTER EVERYTHING! YOU STILL HIDE BEHIND CHILDREN!?" Percy roared out as he looked at Athena.
"SHE ISN'T HIDING, WE WON'T LET YOU KILL ANYONE ELSE!" A voice screamed out in rage as he turned to see Hazel standing there shaking with rage as she was surrounded by dozens of hunters.
Arrows ready on their bowstrings as they opened fire. Forcing Percy to block several arrows as he quickly backed away from the enraged campers.
Very quickly it was becoming a crowded affair as dozens of demigods rushed to help the Olympains, their faces caught somewhere between terror and fury as they hesitantly approached him.
Most of the hunters, except the few with Hazel, were currently distracted with Artemis who was still groaning on the ground where he had left her, but Percy knew that wouldn't be the case for long.
So he did the only thing he could think of, and it took every ounce of will power he had to do it. But he couldn't risk catching the campers in the crossfire, and he needed the fight to be somewhere else. It was time to follow through on Nyx's orders… as much as the thought made him feel sick to his stomach.
He had been forced to back up, until he stood on the steps of Cabin 3, the lake behind him as Athena was now surrounded and protected by a rapidly growing number of demigods.
He was so distracted by his thoughts, that an arrow from one of the hunters hit him in the shoulder as he quickly spun away from them , sending a wave of water outwards in an instant. Knocking the arrows aside as it fell to the ground far short of the demigods.
However, they were getting ready to charge and Percy knew that he needed a distraction, he had to get away from the demigods before the fight resumed again. He had no issues with fighting the Olympians if that's what they wanted, but he wasn't going to knowingly put the demigods at risk. Regardless of how he felt about the OIympians.
"Ignari" Percy whispered as he looked at Riptide. Watching as the sword burst into white hot flames, before Percy turned around and looked at Cabin 3 almost with Pity.
Then Percy threw riptide end over end at the cabin that he had treated as home for the last five or so years.
It was almost as if time slowed down for an instant before the blade struck the cabin walls. The red and yellow flames trailing through the air behind the blade as it spun end over end through the air.
Then with a hissing sound the cabin seemed to simply explode into flames, the force of the explosion blowing the back walls of the cabin outwards as the demigods around him screamed and dove for cover.
Giving Percy the opening he needed.
Dashing past the demigods blocking his path, a quick slash of his sword here, and a thrust there disarming any who got too close to him as he rushed directly towards Athena.
"My fight is with you, not them" Percy growled out as he dashed towards her in a blur, the ground cracking around him as he sidestepped her spear thrust, leaping into stomach shoulder first.
The collision sounded like a train derailing.
Athens' breastplate shattered into a million pieces as he crushed it against her chest, causing a fountain of ichor to explode from her mouth as she rocketed backwards away from him. Back out of the camp, and into the lake.
With Percy chasing behind her as he rushed out of the camp, past the stunned and scattered demigods.
Leaving cabin 3 burning behind him as he tried to ignore the heavy guilt in his stomach. Even with the stars covered as they were, Percy felt like Zoe was watching him, watching as he threw away the one gift she had given him.
He felt like a traitor, to everything he had every believed in or stood for. But he couldn't ignore the behavior of the Olympians any longer, he wouldn't ignore it.
He stood there in the rain for a moment, staring at the waters of the lake before he tilted his head to the side suddenly. Avoiding an arrow that had been shot at the back of his head as he turned around and leveled a glare at two panting huntresses accompanied by Hazel.
"Do you know what you just did!?" Hazel all but shouted as she glared at Percy who didn't react beyond casting his gaze in her direction. "That sword didn't belong to you, where did you get it!?" Hazel added as she drew her Spatha in what was probably an attempt at a menacing gesture.
Percy couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation as he looked at Hazel and the two huntresses. Something they didn't take too kindly as they all screamed in rage and launched more arrows in his direction, arrows he easily knocked aside.
Hazel on the other hand reached out for her powers, he could feel her calling on everything of value beneath the earth as he waved a hand. A pitying look on his face as she felt her grasp on her powers vanish in an instant.
"Wh-what did you do!?" Hazel stuttered as she looked at him in fear.
"You can't beat me, and I don't want to fight you…. just … just get out of here " Percy said with a sigh as he looked at the trio.
"We can't just let you walk away! You're an enemy of Olympus!" Hazel retorted. "I'm not just going to sit here and watch while you kill Athena! You just burned down the Poseidon cabin for Hades sake!"
"You have no idea who or what I am, You have no idea why I'm here and you certainly don't have any idea what the Olympians have done to me… Now get out of my way Hazel!" Percy barked out angrily as his aura exploded outwards, sending all three of them stumbling backwards to the ground as Hazel looked up at him in confusion.
For an instant he could have sworn he saw recognition in her gaze, but it was lost when the Ares cabin beside them exploded. Sending wood, metal and barbed wire flying across Percy's vision. Almost in the same instant a blast of ice roared out from Percy and passed inches in front of Hazel and the other hunters. The ice cracked and shuddered under the force of the debris hitting it but luckily it held.
Unfortunately that momentary lapse in attention as he kept the demigods safe from the explosion allowed his opponents a second or two to close the gap. Of course Artemis and Dionysus having burst through the cabin, immediately attacked Percy, their weapons flashing about in the air as Percy retreated away from the campers towards the lake.
He could hear people screaming, but he couldn't tear his gaze off of Hazel, who was watching him with a look of horror on her face.
But Percy didn't have time to focus on her any longer, all his attention was once more back on the fight. Snuffing out Dionysus domains before he could even muster up a ball of fire. Meanwhile Artemis, and try as she might, couldn't get past his blades and with each blocked strike he could feel the frustration she had growing.
However Percy's eyes didn't once leave Dionysus as the God of wine shook like a leaf under the fierce glare directed his way. Every time he tried to use his domain, Percy stopped him almost instantly.
Percy gave ground willingly, walking backwards as he could feel the lake behind him getting close with each step. The wave crashed against the shore almost eagerly as he couldn't help but grin.
He could feel the movements in the air as he spun the silver blade over in one hand, sending it whistling through the air upwards to block Artemis' knife. A rain of sparks fanning outwards as he used his bracer to block another strike by her other dagger
Quickly as he could, he spun the silver sword over, disengaging it from Artemis knives as he shoved her backwards, causing the goddess to slide across the ground as, Percy rushed forwards inside her reach with a burst of speed as he brought his sword across in a vicious swipe aimed at her head.
Before the blade could make contact a blast of golden energy slammed into him, as both he and his blade were knocked off course. Instead only landing a glancing blow on her forehead and leaving a small cut which rapidly dripped ichor as her head was snapped backwards with the force of the blow.
However Percy didn't have time to take advantage of that, a snarl breaking free of his lips, as several more blasts of energy slammed into him. Courtesy of a furious looking Athena looking like she could barely stand and a madly grinning Dionysus.
"Just give up already… you can't beat all of us!" Dionysus called out defiantly as he leveled his Thyrsus staff in his direction. "You've barely put a scra-gak!' the God gasped out suddenly as he twitched in place, His face contorted in pain as it flushed gold.
Percy just leveled a flat stare at the god of madness. His sword hand twitched slightly as arcs of arcane energy leapt off his skin. "... shut the fuck up…." he all but growled out as he flexed his control over the ichor in the Gods veins.
Not even wincing as a series of horrendous cracks echoed out when Dionysus' arm bent backwards. Then he simply froze still for a second before ichor exploded out of his mouth, eyes, ears and nose as the wine God collapsed forwards onto the ground without another word.
Athena just looked at him in horror as Artemis struggled back to her feet, ichor dripping down her face as she looked back and forth between the motionless body of Dionysus and Percy. Her eyes wide with fear as more and more of Dionysus ichor pumped out onto the ground.
"What in chaos….." Athena said in horror as she looked at the pale body of Dionysus laying on the ground.
"I'm done playing around….." Percy growled out in anger.
"Good, because neither am I, boy.. I'll see you dead for this" Artemis spat with scorn as she gestured towards the destruction all around them.
Perhaps if she saw him as a monster it was time he showed her what that meant, Percy thought angrily. He had told them to get out of his way, that he didn't want to fight them, they chose this.
Every moment he wasted fighting them was another moment his sister was moving farther from him, his little sister whose name he still didn't know.
The lake behind him exploded in a fury as the water surged forwards and slammed into Artemis. Driving her backwards with a yelp as she was completely engulfed. Then with a grunt and a wave of his hand Percy sent the water off to the side crashing into the ground with enough force to crater the earth as it continued for several seconds before he stopped.
Hundreds of gallons of water dropping from the air in an instant and crashing to the ground. THe deluge half filled the crater with water as Percy simply turned back to face Athena.
Dionysus was twitching on the ground as his body struggled to heal itself and Percy grinned madly. Stalking towards the two remaining Olympains, his aura casting a sickly green light across everything as he exploded into motion.
Rushing towards the two as Athena stepped in front of Dionysus who was struggling to get to his feet, feebling clutching at his staff in one hand as he tried to push himself up with the other.
"Aoraue" Percy shouted out as reality folded around him. Condensing around his sword in a pulsing glow as he swung the silver sword in an upwards chop, slashing clean through her spear and directly into her chest. It sounded like an entire mountain had hit her as she was flung backwards off her feet, bits of bronze armor flying through the air as she crashed to the ground, the two broken halves of her spear clattering to the ground around her as they began to glow white hot.
Already ichor pumped from a dozen wounds on her chest, the spell empowering his blade having torn past her block and ripped her apart like shrapnel. Even now she was thrashing about on the ground screaming and oblivious to the danger she was in.
Then with an explosion to rival some of the best firework shows he had ever seen, Athena's spear unleashed all the divine energy it contained. Sending a golden fireball roaring outwards for dozens of feet in every direction.
For a moment Percy was half blinded by the light as he blinked stupidly for a second, then he scanned the field looking for the one he was really after.
Spotting Dionysus crawling away from him, back towards the camp. His form flickering with a weak purple aura as Percy immediately dampened his connection to his domain.
Watching in satisfaction as the God immediately shook like a leaf and tried to move faster. As Percy walked up behind him casually.
"You claim that being a God somehow makes you better than the rest of us… but when it gets tough. When it gets down to it, you break faster than any of the demigods you dislike so much" Percy growled out as he slammed his studded sandal down on Dionysus leg, shattering bones with the force of the blow as the God wailed in pain.
Percy ignored the pitiful cries as he casually reached down, dragging Dionysus to his feet with one hand as he leveled a glare at the god.
"Who sent the demigods after Sally Jackson!" Percy roared out in anger as Dionysus looked at him in slack jawed terror.
"Wha.. w-we all did.. It was a unanimous decision…." Dionysus stuttered out weakly.
Percy froze for a moment.
Those words echoing in his head, as his entire body shook with rage.
WIth a scream, as if he was raging against the world itself he swung his silver sword upwards, chopping Dionysus left arm off with ease as he threw the God backwards away from him. watching in satisfaction as the god crashed into the hill at the foot of Thalia's tree.
Percy couldn't hear anything but the screams from the domain of vengeance, calling for blood, begging him to end the life of the pathetic God in front of him as everything else was drowned out.
He could smell the ichor in the air, like some sort of cinnamon scented alcohol. He could practically taste it as he bent down and picked up Dionysus' symbol of power. Ignoring the discomfort as purple arcs of energy leapt across his hand.
Dionysus was half sobbing as he struggled to crawl across the ground to the cover of the forest past the hill, his one leg shattered and ichor draining from his body by the second from his stump of an arm.
Percy caught up to him quickly and grabbed him by the neck before he threw him at the nearest tree, watching as the god slammed into, barely able to support his own weight as Percy continued to dampen his powers and slow Dionysus' healing. Percy wasn't sure why he knew how to do this, but he did. It was like someone had flicked a switch in regards to his command over his powers ever since Cal had done whatever he did.
The Aetherium felt malleable, like putty in his hands, and every time he touched it. That endless expanse of energy seemed closer and closer, as if he could reach out and grab it. It was intoxicating and every time he used Aetherium that feeling of euphoria grew stronger.
He suddenly blinked twice, snapping out of his thoughts as he looked into Dionysus' terrified face. His thoughts turned dark once more as a scowl appeared on his face.
"It's a strange thing to be mortal isn't it? To feel pain again after all these years? Don't worry that won't last much longer…" Percy growled out as he thrust the thyrsus staff forwards. Driving the point of the staff clean through the Gods face and into the tree with a horrendous crunching sound.
Dionysus twitched madly for a moment before he went still, ichor dripping off the end of the staff to puddle on the ground.
Percy stood there trembling with rage as lightning crackled across the sky and the winds picked up all at once.
They had decided unanimously… all of them, to send the demigods after his mother.
It felt like someone had torn his insides out.
The entire Olympian council had betrayed his mother, she was dead. Jason, Annabeth and Piper had his sister. Well, not for long, he thought to himself as he turned around and looked back at the camp. His mind set, the hellhounds hadn't found them yet, so it was time for another method.
Percy went to walk back towards the camp, someone was going to tell him where they were, even if he had to beat it out of them. However he had barely walked ten feet when he stopped. Freezing in place as he felt two auras approaching him at once. He cursed his stupidity, Riptide was still impaled in the ruins of his burning cabin. All he had was his silver sword, and so angrily he grasped it with both hands and assumed a stance.
Then the light show began.
A roaring pillar of red fire slammed into the ground behind him, as a similar pillar of silver light slammed down in front of him. For a few seconds both continued until they dissipated into a shimmer of golden energy. Revealing a battered looking Artemis, her skin radiating with golden energy as a shimmering silver light surrounded her.
Behind him stood Ares, clad in his black platemail and clutching a massive blood red sword in one hand as a wild grin was plastered across his face. The souls merged onto his armor screaming and wailing in agony as the literal fire in his eyes crackled and burned.
"You don't disappoint…." Ares said with a low whistle as he looked at Dionysus's body pinned to the tree behind him. "But hopefully you still have enough life left in you to entertain me" Ares said with a sadistic chuckle.
"Shut up Ares…. We can't take him lightly… we may have.. underestimated his abilities" Artemis said with a growl of anger as she spun the/her daggers over in her hands.
Percy just watched the exchange between the Gods angrily, his body tensed like a spring as he watched Ares like a hawk.
The giant blade Ares carried was wreathed in red flames, the blade itself had to be nearly nine feet long, and Percy was pretty sure it was close to a foot and a half across the blade itself. However, Ares was casually swinging it about with one arm as he leveled it at Percy.
"You may have beaten my sisters and my brother, but now. Now you face the God of war.. Consider it an honor to count yourself among the few that have ever fought against me in true combat." Ares said with a wild grin as he exploded into movement.
Rushing towards Percy and swinging the sword downwards with a giant overhand chop.
Without a single word the silver sword burst into green fire the instant it collided with Ares' symbol of power. Setting off an explosion of energy as the two blades collided. Red and Green flames exploded outwards from the clash, as both Percy and Ares were pushed back several feet.
Immediately the two warriors rushed back in, their swords moving too fast for mortal eyes to hope to follow, Ares simply relying on overwhelming strength was glowing a bright red as each blow carried with it the sounds of screams and battle.
Percy on the other hand spent almost as much time dodging the hammer-like blows as he did blocking them. Each time he did, he could feel his whole body reverberate with the force of the blow. His fingers almost went numb around the grip of his sword as he narrowed his eyes and glared at Ares.
Each strike between the two apex warriors gouged chunks of the ground out around them, regardless of the blow being blocked or not. Even as Percy fought faster and faster, he wasn't tired. No, instead an energy filled his body as he was pushed to even higher heights of swordsmanship.
Leaping at Ares as he spun in the air, a half dozen strikes ringing out in an instant as he drove Ares backwards, the final clash of their blades setting off another explosion that launched Percy backwards.
Tumbling through the air before he landed on the ground and quickly rolled back to his feet. Barely getting his sword up in time to block a silver arrow whistling through the air at his head. His sword darted sliced the arrow in half, cleaving apart the divine energy in the arrow easily as it exploded on either side of him.
"He really does live up to fathers descriptions…." Ares said almost with glee as he looked at Percy, his face split in a giant smile as he spun his sword over slowly in one hand.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING ARES!? STOP MESSING AROUND AND FIGHT HIM!" Artemis shouted out in rage as she unleashed another volley of arrows in Percy's direction. Only to gape at him in shock as the arrows were all deflected long before they could hit him.
Leaving Percy standing there, his sword held in one hand as his other was extended, controlling the moisture in the air as he used it to knock the arrows of course.
"Not as if you're doing much better sister" Ares replied with a snarl before he charged back at Percy, his sword a black and red blur as it whipped towards Percy the air around the two was alive, a whirlwind of metal as they continued their dance of death.
A dozen blows exchanged in a moment as tiny splashes of ichor and blood flew through the air around them, neither able to land a deadly blow as they rampaged across the fields. The ground cracked and shattered around them with the force of their blows as Percy was forced to retreat.
His sword spun around him as he dodged under another one of Artemis's arrows, spinning the sword behind his back as he switched hands. Brining it up in his right to block a swing from Ares as he lashed out with his left hand.
A grin splitting his face as he was rewarded with an ear piercing crunch when his fist connected with Ares stomach. Instantly the War Gods face flushed gold as he stumbled backwards, ichor leaked from his mouth and his cuirass crushed against his chest.
But before Percy could press forwards a scream of rage sounded from his side, it was at that moment that Artemis decided to join the battle once more, appearing as little more than a blur of silver as she rushed towards him.
Her knives ripped open two long slashes across his chest as he threw himself backwards, narrowly avoiding being cut in half by Artemis as he rolled across the ground. Gritting his teeth against the pain as he exploded back to his feet.
His sword whipped out in an upwards slash as his blade drew a shallow cut across her face, forcing the Goddess to flinch backwards as he lashed out with his back foot.
The blow connected with her chest as she was flung away from him, both her knives flying out of her hands as she rocketed away from him. Crashing into the muddy ground of the field.
He slowly turned to lock his gaze onto Ares, who was watching him almost hungrily as he started to walk towards Percy.
"It's been a long time since anyone has dared to cross blades with me like this" Ares said in a strange voice as he looked at Percy with a tilt of his head.
"Thats surprising, you're a fucking asshole… it's a wonder they aren't lining up to kick your ass" Percy growled out in response. Drawing a look of shock from Ares before he burst out laughing.
"I like you kid…. You've got more spirit than most of the Olympians put together…." Ares added with another grin. "It's too bad I've got to kill you"
Then without any warning Ares and Percy both rushed towards each other, their blades crashing together with a colossal explosion as the two were locked in the middle of the field. Straining against their blades, each trying to force the other backwards as both of their auras surged into existence.
A roar broke free of Percy's lips as he drew on the Aetherium around him, and suddenly Ares' face went from confident to shocked as Percy slowly forced him backwards. Arcs of arcane energy crackling about him in the air as the horrendous metal on metal grinding of their swords rang out across the field.
Then with a final burst of energy Percy forced Ares backwards, almost knocking the God off his feet as Percy charged after him. Each strike Percy executed was flawless, two heavy over handed blows drove Ares sword down low before Percy spun and aimed a powerful strike at Ares midsection.
Ares responded by swinging his sword sideways, trying to cut Percy in half, falling into the trap perfectly.
Percy ducked under the blow, his sword striking and knocking Ares' greatsword upwards before it lashed out again like a viper as Ares fell for his trap. The sword cut through Ares' armor like butter and ran into his side, letting loose a gush of ichor as Percy ripped the sword free.
Ares swung out with his hand, knocking the sword free from Percy's hand as Ares let out a scream of agony and stumbled backwards. Percy wasted no time and charged forward, tackling Ares like a football player as his arms wrapped around the Gods waist, straining as his entire face flushed red, then with a roar he threw Ares over his head with all the force he had, leaning back as he did so.
Ares' feet left the ground, and for an instant a look of horror appeared on his face before Percy slammed Ares face first into the ground behind him with the force of a meteor impact.
The ground shattered for dozens of feet in every direction as Ares let out a strangled cry of pain. Flopping to the ground like a ragdoll as Percy rolled back to his feet, holding his hand out for his sword. Which flew back to his waiting grasp almost instantly.
He lifted his sword above his head and swung it down towards Ares' back, only for a snarl of anger to leave his lips as two silver daggers blocked his swing.
Drawing his eyes upwards as he looked into the hate filled silvery orbs of Artemis. "I am going to flay the skin from your bones Ardwyr…" Artemis said angrily as her entire body glowed gold.
Then she rushed him, her daggers flashing through the air as she launched a lightning fast assault, each strike sending off a burst of silver energy, the blades themselves practically invisible as she slashed at every inch of Percy she could see.
Percy was a gifted swordsman, there was no doubt about it. He might be the best swordsman to grace the Greeks in generations, but even he had limits.
Ones which he was surpassing at the moment. He wasn't tired, his wounds didn't hurt anymore, he was so long past that.
He was just angry, and he was done with putting up with the Gods crap. He killed the Titans to keep them and the campers safe.
He was going to have justice for his mother, if it was the last thing he did.
His eyes were locked onto Artemis, as he slowly increased the speed of their exchange, his swords weaving an intricate dance as he turned each parry into a blow, his sword simply a flash of silver as it whipped through the air.
Percy launched into a series of vicious swipes that worked Artemis daggers over her head, while also keeping his own blade there.
He felt the ground tremble under his feet as a blast of red light roared out around Ares and he stood up, his aura nearly blinding with the intensity of its light. Then he rushed towards Percy from behind, his sword already mid swing.
Only to scream in frustration as a wall of ice erupted in front of him, obscuring his vision for a moment as Percy finally ended the series of attacks with a double overhand chop. An attack Artemis blocked by raising both her daggers and catching his blade between the guards.
The impact of the blow still drove her down onto one knee.
At least that was until Percy kicked out with his rear foot, hitting Artemis in the chin as he snapped his leg up between the crossed blades. A spray of ichor fanned into the air and the impact sent her skidding backwards across the wet ground of Camp Half-Blood to collide with her own cabin with a dull boom.
Then Percy dove to the side as the wall of ice behind him exploded, raining shrapnel and water all around him as Ares ripped it apart with ease. The God of War looked like an enraged beast as he looked around for Percy frantically.
"You're getting slow Ares…." Percy called out confidently as Ares' gaze whipped in his direction.
"And you are every bit the warrior Hestia and Zeus made you out to be…." Ares added with a growl as he looked at Percy.
"What? Is this harder than killing helpless mortals?" Percy added sarcastically.
"Yes, but so much more enjoyable. I haven't been able to cut loose like this in centuries" Ares added with a gleeful smile before he spun his sword over in one hand. "They will talk about our battle for generations little Ardwyr"
"I'm sure they will, but the story is gonna be about how four Olympians got your asses handed to you by one mortal," Percy replied.
"We shall see" Ares replied with another wild grin as he charged towards Percy. His sword glowing with power as it cut through the air towards Percy's head.
The silver sword swung up to meet it, shimmering in green light as the two warriors clashed.
Both of them resorting to heavy two handed blows, each clash rang out like a thunderclap across the broken fields around them.
Ares truly lived up to his reputation as a God of war, but Percy had beaten him at twelve years old, he wasn't going to lose now.
As the next swing came in, Percy blocked the attack and lashing out with his foot he kicked Ares on the inside of the knee, shattering it with a single blow as the limb bent outwards at a funny angle.
In one fluid motion Percy drove his elbow forwards as Ares stumbled sideways, driving it clean into the Gods face with a loud crunch as ichor sprayed from underneath the helmet. The blow sending Ares reeling backwards.
Percy didn't hesitate, rushing forwards as his sword lashed out like a whip, drawing a large slash across the war Gods chest before he dove to the side in a roll. Avoiding the large sword which smashed into the ground where Percy had been moments before.
His blade spun through the air, a heavy two handed blow raining down onto Ares as he barely lifted his sword in time to block the strike. Percy stepped to the side, launching a series of rapid strikes and batting the sword back and forth as he forced Ares to stay on the defensive.
Ares finally roared in anger, and attempted to overwhelm Percy with a heavy strike, Only for Percy to step inside his range and run him through with a simple thrust. Percy drove his blade deep into Ares' side, before ripping it clean out sideways in a savage jerk as he moved past the God. Ichor and guts spilled out from his side like a waterfall as Ares roared in pain.
Percy kicked him in the back sending Ares flying forwards, only for him to freeze midair. His body contorting strangely before he was yanked back towards Percy spinning around as he did so.
Percy was ready, his grip on the God's ichor was complete and as Ares flew towards him he charged up the powers of the earthshaker in his fist, "Aoraue" Percy shouted out as he punched out with all his might, hitting Ares in the chest and slamming him down into the ground at Percy's feet.
Percy may as well have set off a crate of Dynamite.
He was thrown off his feet in the following explosion as he skipped across the ground several times. Coming to a stop on his back, his whole body steaming from the force of the blast as he struggled to get back to his feet.
He was on the beach near the camp, the canoe dock he had spent many an afternoon sitting on. Basking in the warmth of the sun with Annabeth was a few feet to his left. Cracked and battered by the force of the storm and the rough waters of the lake.
As Percy stood up, he could feel Artemis somewhere beyond his sight gathering energy from her domain.
Only for him to realize a second to late what she was doing as dozens of glowing arrows appeared in the sky above him. Speeding towards him like miniature homing missiles as he froze in shock.
She was attacking him with divine powers while he was inside the camp, and with such a widespread area there was no way that the demigods running around in a panic wouldn't be caught in the crossfire.
Percy reached out, calling on every ounce of power he had as a massive shield of water and ice formed above the camp.
In the same instant a half dozen arrows slammed into the ground all around him, and everything went white for a moment, it didn't even hurt until he slammed into the lake.
Slowly drifting to the bottom as he surged back to consciousness, his eyes snapping open as he flipped over and planted his feet on the bottom.
Exploding out of the water to land on the shore as he looked at the scene before him in horror.
There was silver fire everywhere, all across the beach and around the camp. Several arrows apparently made it through his shield and had struck the camp.
The screams of the demigods filled the air around him as everything snapped into focus.
He turned his gaze to the left, spotting Artemis battered and stained with ichor standing beside a wounded Ares, whose face was lit up in a massive grin, his helmet discarded as well as most of his cuirass which Percy had shattered.
Percy was so angry he didn't even have words for the monster in front of him. Instead simply leveling a hate filled glare in her direction.
"I hope you beg for death when my father gets his hands on you" Artemis growled out as she leapt into the air, rushing towards Percy, her dagger extended into a thrust as he refused to move, his eyes blazing with green light simply locked with hers.
Even when she drove the blade into his stomach he didn't move, except to whip his sword up and knock Artemis' other knife clean out of her hand. Percy's free hand snapping out to grab her other wrist, stopping her from pulling the dagger free.
Then his entire body snapped forwards as he smashed his helmet against Artemis' head with enough force to send out a small shockwave as the ground around them cracked. Artemis went limp for a second, as she stumbled backwards.
In the same motion Percy dropped his sword to the ground, his hand lashing out to grab Artemis's breastplate before he yanked her back in and headbutted her again. Much harder. Artemis was blasted backwards into the ground like a cannonball, shattering it in every direction, as she let out a groan, attempting to lift her head off the ground before she passed out.
Percy stood overtop of her, ichor dripping from his helmet. He could taste it on his lips, and it stung as he blinked it out of his eyes. Turning to look at Ares as he spat a wad of it out of his mouth.
"Just you and me now big guy" Percy grunted out as he held out his hand, summoning the silver sword back to his grasp as Ares looked at him with joy.
"THIS IS WHAT I'VE WAITED LIFETIMES FOR!" The God of War roared out as red flames appeared all around them. "TO THINK MY FATHER HID THE GREATEST WARRIORS EVER KNOWN FROM ME FOR SO LONG!" he added with a deep booming laugh.
"You and I are alone Ardwyr, let the winner show the loser a glorious death" The war God added seriously.
Then he started to walk towards Percy, leaving a flaming trail of footsteps behind him as he slowly picked up speed.
Percy responded by spinning the silver sword around once before he gripped it with both hands and held it by his waist.
The two warriors charged towards each other, the air around them alive with power as arcs of arcane energy leapt off of Percy, and the red flames of Ares domain traced swirling paths across the ground around him.
Percy leapt into the air, grasping his sword in both hands as he swung it down towards Ares viciously, who in return swung his sword upwards with all the force he could muster.
The clash of their blades was cataclysmic, the scraggly trees still standing were blown over like matchsticks as Percy slid backwards, his feet digging trenches in the soft dirt as he came to a stop, some thirty feet away from Ares.
Neither one of them took more than a second's break, before both of them rushed at each other, barely more than a blur as their swords whistled through the air.
Percy dove over a powerful swipe that would have taken his legs clean off, rolling to his feet in one clean motion as he worked his silver sword through a series of thrusts, forcing ares to retreat since his weapon was too unwieldy for such short distances.
However, not to be outdone, Ares released his grip on the sword and lashed out with his right hand, his fist connecting with Percy's faceguard as he was tossed to the ground.
Then lighting quick he reached down and grabbed Percy's ankle, spinning around and throwing him like a discus into the woods.
Percy spun through the air, several trees shattering as he slammed into them before he tumbled to a halt, his entire body feeling bruised and broken as he coughed up blood and stumbled back to his feet, his eyes screwed shut in concentration as he tried to focus.
The ground was rumbling under his feet as Percy swayed on the spot, Ares charging towards him, his sword raised high above his head for a killing blow no doubt.
Percy's eyes snapped open as he extended his hand out, calling for the sword as it flew through the air back to his right hand.
Then he charged towards Ares, leaping into the air as he called on his powers, extending his left hand as a huge blast of energy exploded out of his palm, right as Ares' sword closed in on his side.
The blast knocked Ares' sword off course and changed Percy's trajectory, sending him sideways, as he tumbled to the ground and rolled back to his feet.
Ares simply whipped around to look at him, his face split with a feral grin as his eyes blazed with power. However he was almost instantly forced to retreat backwards, almost tripping over his own heels as Percy leapt at him.
Percy's sword blazed with green light as he charged towards Ares, only for the God to vanish in a flash of Golden light. Reappearing behind him as he slashed Percy's back open with his sword, a shout of victory calling out for a moment before it changed to one of pain.
Percy had stumbled forwards when Ares cut him, but as he fell he charged up the power of the earthshaker in the back foot, swinging it backwards as he fell forwards. A resounding crack rang out through the night as Percy's heel connected with Ares' jaw, sending the God flipping onto his back as ichor exploded from his shattered face.
Percy lay on the ground, twitching slightly as the rainwater healed his wounds, the cut on his back had been shallow, luckily. Otherwise it would have severed his spine, but it still hurt like a bitch and bled horribly, leaving Percy shaking and cold when he finally found the strength in his limbs to stand.
But he knew it wouldn't last much longer, each step was a concerted effort, and his sword dragged in the mud beside him as he looked at Ares who was struggling to get to his feet.
"Not so … tough….. Now are you… you fucking asshole…" Percy groaned out as he tried to focus his gaze on God, to little success. His vision was like a bad TV channel, fading in and out at a whim.
Ares replied by spitting out a large mouthful of ichor and what looked to be several teeth as he turned around to level a murderous glare at Percy.
"Let's finish this Ardwyr…" Ares added with a gasp as he forced himself to his feet, ichor dripping from a dozen wounds on his chest and arms.
Ares' sword almost instantly ignited with roaring red flames as the pressure of Ares' aura intensified to the point where it was like a weight sitting on Percy's shoulders.
However in response Percy's green aura exploded back into existence around him, the water from the ground and air slowly floating and swirling around him as he held the silver sword in both hands, his gaze never once leaving Ares.
Ares' eyes narrowed as he looked at Percy, "I want you to know this has been a true battle Ardywr, one worthy of remembrance in song. Rest assured your people will not be forgotten, not while I live and breathe." Ares said as his voice rang with sincerity.
"My father did your people great dishonor by trying to wipe you from our history, I will do no such thing. I swear it." Ares added with a nod as he slowly grasped his sword with both hands and prepared to charge at Percy.
Percy didn't reply, simply staring at Ares in shock, he had always assumed he was nothing more than a bloodthirsty savage, but in the last five minutes alone Percy had gotten to see another side of the War God.
A side he had to admit he didn't hate.
Not that this last minute revelation would change anything, Percy thought to himself grimly as he and Ares stood, eyes locked on each other as they waited, as if for some unknown signal.
All around them the sounds of running feet, and the shouts of Demigods could be heard as they rushed towards the site of the Godly battle.
Like ghosts, Demigods were emerging from the forest, their faces white with fear and anger as they saw the scene before them.
A single female voice cried out into the night "FATHER!"
As if that was the signal, both of them moved at the same time.
Water flew into the air as they rushed towards the middle of the field. A fierce red glow surrounding Ares as his sword swung towards Percy.
However, Ares' face went from a look of confidence to one of shock as the ground shattered all around Percy, a massive surge of water rushing along behind his blade as the ground tore itself apart.
A massive coiling serpent of water roaring with the sound of a thousand fierce beasts as it crackled with green energy followed behind him, thousands of gallons of water, hardened and pressurized to the density of concrete. Crashing into the ground, trees and rocks, pulverizing everything around him to pieces.
Ares leapt into the air above him, swinging his sword down with all his might as Percy swung the silver sword upwards in an arc to meet the God of War. The water serpent tracing the path of his blade as it surged upwards and collided with Ares.
The water serpent slammed into the red energy around Ares blade as the very air around them exploded. A rush of power unlike anything he had felt before blasted out around them, drowning out all other noise, as the two apex warriors dashed apart.
Their clash intensified as the screams and shouts of the Demigods grew closer and closer, accompanied by the heavy tramp of mailed boots, and the harsh clang of swords beating off shields.
And slowly they began to appear in droves out of the darkness, standing at the edges of the clear with weapons drawn as they watched Ares and Percy battled on. Both of the warriors seemingly oblivious to the crowd gathering around them.
Not that the demigods could have helped in any way, to those watching the fight appeared as little more than two blurs surrounded by a storm of steel and bronze. Arcs of arcane energy and blasts of red fire filling the air as several demigods watched the battle in open mounted shock.
Percy avoided a downwards chop with a simple twist of his body, reacting instantly as the sword slammed into the ground, he leapt into the air. His right foot crackling with green energy as he spun and kicked Ares in the face, sending the god crashing to the ground head first.
However, Ares somehow kept his grip on his sword, hitting the ground and rolling onto his back in one clean motion he sent the sword arcing above his head in a powerful strike.
One Percy barely managed to block.
Even so, the impact sent him flying backwards as he skipped across the ground, flipping his silver sword over and stabbing it into the mud in order to slow his speed as both he and Ares rose to their feet. Panting as they looked at each other with newfound respect.
But in an instant they were rushing back towards each other, their blades locked onto a collision course. That's when Percy noticed another person charging across the field, a lone demigod. One who wouldn't survive the coming exchange between him and Ares if she got any closer. It was lucky Percy noticed her.
Unluckily, he wasn't sure what he could really do about it, as he cast his gaze to the side, his eyes widening in horror as he recognized the red armor and triple plumed helm of Clarisse, not more than thirty feet to his left.
However Percy didn't have time to react, and blocking Ares' thrust would set off another explosion as their powers clashed, a blast that could possibly kill, or maim her, even now his skin was still stitching itself back together from the last blast. Clarisse would be lucky to survive at all.
So Percy made a split second decision, Waiting till the last second to step closer to Clarisse, blocking her body from the inevitable blast with his own as Ares' sword ripped clean through his side and slammed into the ground behind him.
Almost as it happened Ares saw Clarisse and Percy saw the look of fear cross his face as he felt Ares try to pull the blow back, but it was too little too late as the roaring blast of Red fire surged into life.
The pain was like someone had lit his blood on fire, as Percy screamed out in Agony and swung his silver sword upwards with one hand, feeling it snagged slightly before it finished its cut and Ares screamed out in pain.
Meanwhile, with his other hand Percy created a wall of ice behind himself, hoping to save Clarisse from the blast of fire that was currently burning him alive.
For a moment all he knew was agony, his skin, the air he inhaled, everything was on fire.
Then as suddenly as it had appeared it vanished, leaving Percy standing there, swaying on his feet as his skin was red and blistered almost everywhere. Blood poured out of a large gash in his side as Percy leaned back against the wall of ice, no longer able to fully support his own weight.
Ares looked no better, his left arm was simply gone, Percy's final blow having taken it off just below the shoulder. Ichor poured in a steady stream from the wound as Ares sagged to one side, his legs shaking slightly as he looked at Percy.
"Why? You let me hit you!" Ares growled out in anger as he looked at Percy, his eyes aflame, sending cinders swirling into the air.
"The… demigod…." Percy grunted out in reply.
"I know, I saw her…. Too late… but why would you save her!? She is not your responsibility…" Ares added with a grunt, his confusion clear on his face.
"No, she's your responsibility… Doesn't mean I'll sit by and watch you kill her…" Percy added as he struggled to stand, lifting his sword to point at Ares, the tip wavering slightly as Percy's arm shook. "Let's just get this over with Ares… I'm tired and I have other places to be''
Ares looked at him for a moment before a deep booming chuckle sounded from the God of War, "You willingly let me hit you, so that you could control the blast?" Ares asked with an arched eyebrow.
"Doesn't matter why I did it, what I did. Now let's just get this over with already" Percy growled out in anger. Only to look at Ares in surprise when the War God simply let his sword fall to the ground, lifting his one hand as he waved Percy off.
"Put down the sword, our battle is done. For now. I owe you a debt for saving my daughter, one I intend to repay now. Go. None will follow you." Ares called out as he locked eyes with Percy, who was looking at him in shock.
"... why?" Percy asked.
"Because you have honor, you are the last of your people, and yet you chose to save a child of your enemy." Ares replied as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
"But you're the god of war…." Percy spluttered out
"I am happy to crush my enemies underfoot, but I don't fight without reason. I don't want war without end. And I respect those who deserve it, and if anyone deserves it Kid, You do." Ares said as his eyes lit up with recognition.
Percy stood still, the conversation sounding so familiar in his mind as he looked at Ares who simply nodded in his direction.
Almost in disbelief Percy reached out with one hand, calling out mentally for one of the pack as a massive jet black wolf melted out of the shadows beside him, and Percy all but collapsed against it. His legs shaking and barely keeping him upright.
However, Ares' face morphed to one of anger in an instant as Percy froze, ready to draw his blade. Only to see Ares move past him in a blur and grab the spear that had been speeding towards his unprotected back.
In one quick motion Ares threw the spear away, towering over the prone form of Clarisse who looked at him in confusion.
"NO ONE LAYS A HAND ON THE ARDWYR, HE IS UNDER MY PROTECTION. ANY WHO BREAK MY OATH OF CEASEFIRE WILL FACE THE WRATH OF THE GOD OF WAR!" Ares roared out across the field
"Now go Ardwyr, No one will follow you. And the next time we meet I hope we get to continue this fight. I haven't had that much fun in millenia '' Ares added with a casual grin.
Percy barely recognized what was said, as he leaned against the wolf "Take me to them" Percy whispered as he felt the wolf start to shudder underneath him.
Then he fell along with the wolf, melting into the shadows at his feet as he watched Ares look at him, concern and fear evident on his face, but pride was there as well.
Like he was watching a child he thought, as Percy finally passed out. The darkness of the shadow realm rushing to meet him as his last thought, the last instant of consciousness before he passed out was focused on one Person.
Annabeth.
Annabeth 4 Days 1 Hour & 15 Minutes After Eripus
"Okay we gotta go now!" Jason shouted out as Piper and him ran around the cottage, looking for anything worth taking with them.
The wind had picked up outside, and Annabeth could hear the waves crashing violently against the shore. The wind howling against the cabin walls, and the deep bellowing growls of the hellhounds somewhere out in the darkness.
Given that Jason had lost his sword, Annabeth, Piper and him had dashed around the cabin frantically looking for anything that could be used as a weapon.
Annabeth had found a few kitchen knives in one of the drawers that were still sharp enough to be usable. Not that mortal steel would do much, but still, it was better than nothing.
Jason knocked over one of the large bookshelves by accident and an old .22 shotgun was sent tumbling to the floor, which had immediately sent Piper and Annabeth into a frenzy as they dug around in the kitchen, Piper emerging a moment or two later when she found some shells under the sink.
Within moments of the discovery the three demigods had grabbed all they could find, which totaled four assorted knives that were sharp enough to still function as weapons, Annabeth's bronze knife, and short sword, Katoptris, and the shotgun with a few rounds of ammunition.
The odds didn't look good. First off they were rushing out of the cottage into the darkness of the early morning.
Secondly, the night air was alive with the howls, snarls and growls of dozens of hellhounds, and from the sounds of it they were massive.
The door was practically thrown off its hinges when Annabeth ran outside, a dagger in one hand and her sword in the other as Jason came out at the back carrying the 12 gauge shotgun, and Piper behind him carrying Estelle.
The night was almost pitch black, the stars and moon having been obscured by a thick cover of cloud.
She could hear more than see Jason ahead of her, as he panted and cursed, stumbling on rocks and exposed roots as they ran away from the cottage and the shoreline.
Suddenly the sound of cracking timber echoed out as the howls and growls turned into furious snarls. The cottage crumbling under the weight of who knows how many wolves.
Annabeth had fought hellhounds before, but there was something different about these ones. Something ancient, and evil. Just the way they were herding the demigods, never getting close enough to be seen. But their presence alone was enough to keep the demigods running straight for the forest.
The darkness under the cover of the branches was like a liquid midnight, dark and cloying as it waited for them.
And for the first time in her life, Annabeth felt raw terror rise in her chest at the thought of going into the woods.
Something that was clearly echoed by Jason and Piper as all three of them came to a halt some distance from the trees, looking at each other in panic as Annabeth frantically looked around for any other option.
That was when the clouds parted, allowing several beams of moonlight to descend from the heavens and illuminate their surroundings.
Dozens of massive pitch black wolves were stalking around them, ranging from the size of minivans to dump trucks as their teeth were exposed, lips curled back in a snarl and their green eyes locked onto the demigods standing in the middle of the pack.
"By the gods….." Jason muttered as he looked at the massive wolves, each of them could have given Mrs. O'Leary a run for their money in a size contest. However, at the moment Annabeth couldn't figure out how they were going to get out of this alive as she adjusted the grip on her weapons and stood in front of Piper protectively.
However, the massive wolves made no attempts to get any closer, instead forming a large circle around them as the Wolves simply paced about and watched the demigods.
"Thye're trapping us?" Piper asked hesitantly, "Why aren't they attacking?" She added quickly as she adjusted her grip on Estelle and drew Katoptris with one hand.
"Because… I told them not too," a harsh voice called out.
Annabeth whipped her head around, straining her eyes as she looked into the darkness of the forest.
Only to let out a slight whimper at the sight before her, when Percy stumbled out of the treeline.
His upper body was covered in freshly healed wounds, more than she could count, it looked like a Bengal tiger had used him as a chew toy. Blood and Ichor still dripped down his arms as he held a silver sword loosely in one hand. His other hand was gripping a fistful of black fur, belonging to the massive wolf beside him.
Annabeth couldn't restrain herself as she took a half step forwards, a whimper escaping her lips as her eyes frantically took in every detail. The most startling change beyond the wounds, was the large black tattoo that looked like a swirl of darkness. It covered nearly the entire left side of his chest and shoulder, strange swirling tendrils reaching as far as his neck.
She took in the strange black armor he wore, at least of what remained of it. It looked like it was inspired by Greek armor, or possibly that Greek armor was inspired by it. Annabeth genuinely couldn't tell, but the craftsmanship was masterful. Her eyes traveled down his side noting the strange marks, which caused actual pain when she tried to read them.
The marks themselves were connected in large swirling patterns that reached from Percy's hip, up across his right rib cage. He also had several more swirling lines of marks that wrapped around his right arm. Covering his entire forearm from wrist to elbow in glowing writing.
But even with all these changes he was still the Percy she knew, she took a half step forwards, biting back the feeling of fear that rose in her throat as she saw him tense.
"Gods above Percy…" Annabeth half sobbed out as she lowered both her weapons, looking at him as her vision was obscured by tears.
He looked at her and took a half step forwards as if to say something.
That's when everything went wrong, and Annabeth could have sworn it happened in slow motion.
"Jason What are yo- OH GOD JASON!" Piper shouted out as Annabeth felt the air around her come alive with electricity as her head whipped around to see Jason. His eyes glowing with a strange silver light, his face completely contorted with rage as arcs of electricity leapt off his body.
As Piper started to curl inwards her body protectively wrapped around Estelle as the pair curled towards the ground. Annabeth just watched in shock as a sudden surge of pressure in the air around them sent her crashing to her knees, hair floating on end for an instant.
Then she went blind and deaf almost at once as the world around her exploded.
A series of thunderous roars sounded off, as the ground shook under the ferocity of the lightning Jason unleashed. Several massive bolts slamming into the ground all at once as Percy and the wolf vanished from sight for an instant.
Instantly, all the wolves began snarling furiously, their green eyes filled with hate as they savagely snapped and bit at the air, but not a single one of them dared to move an inch closer to them.
Annabeth struggled to breathe in the hot humid air, the steam around them was thick and she could barely see through it.
However, slowly the steam took on a sickly shade of green as a light began to pulse in the middle of the ring of wolves.
"Jason what did you do!?" Annabeth shouted as she snapped from her confusion, looking at Jason to see his face twisted into a cruel smile. His eyes glowing completely white, no pupils.
He didn't even acknowledge her voice, as he stood there, crackling with lighting and holding a shotgun.
Then she heard more than felt the ground vibrate under her feet as the cloud of steam was blasted apart. Then Percy simply appeared in front of Jason, his chest smoking, his helmet clutched in one hand as his face was contorted into a look of hurt and anger.
Annabeth couldn't focus, her ears were still ringing from the explosions and she could only just barely hear the howling from the wolves as they excitedly watched the confrontation between Percy and Jason.
His helmet was thrown to the side as his other hand drove into Jason's stomach with enough force to drop him to the ground, retching horribly.
Then without a word Percy kicked him in the chest, sending Jason flying a short distance before he rolled onto his back gasping for breath and clutching his chest in pain.
Then simply holding his hand out Annabeth watched as a silver sword came whistling from the blasted ground where the lighting had struck.
Flying into Percy's outstretched hand as he flipped it out and drove it blade down towards the ground.
"NOOOOOOOO!" Piper screamed out as she lunged towards Percy only to stumble backwards as he cast a gaze filled with hate at her.
"Don't move an inch Grace….." Percy growled out as he stood up, leaving his sword impaled in the ground beside Jason's head as he turned towards Piper, who shook like a leaf the second he looked at her, "L-listen Percy, I don't know what you thi-" Piper started to say before Percy screamed at her.
"DON'T KNOW WHAT I THINK?! WHY DONT I TELL YOU WHAT IT FUCKING LOOKS LIKE PIPER!" Percy screamed as his voice rang with power.
"P-percy what ar-" Annabeth started to say as she watched him standing there shaking like a leaf, as he looked between the two of them
"The Gods sent you after my MOTHER! MY MOTHER!" Percy screamed as the air around him crackled with energy before all the life seemed to just drain out of his body. "And you have my fucking sister, so tell me, NOT TO MENTION YOUR BOYFRIEND JUST TRIED TO FRY ME ALIVE. So What exactly am I supposed to think!?" Percy said in a flat voice as he looked between the two of them.
"Listen Percy, we didn't do anything to Sally!" Annabeth shouted at him as she stood up and forced herself to look him in the eye. "You need to believe me! PLEASE!" Annabeth shouted back at him as she rushed towards him.
"No you need to tell me why you have my sister, and what the fuck happened in that apartment Annabeth!" Percy called back angrily as he looked at her, his expression told another story. He looked crushed, his eyes were dull, no longer a bright sea green. He'd lost weight, and his skin had taken on a pale complexion.
"Percy I don't know what you saw or heard but I swear you're missing parts of the story, we didn't kidnap your sister! We saved her from your grandfather!" Piper called out her voice ringing thick with Charm Speak. "You need to trust me, just stop and listen to us, please!"
"Bullshit, so saving her involved what? Jason stabbed him in the chest-" Percy snapped back as Piper cut him off mid sentence.
"In self defense he almost fucking killed him Percy! How can you defend him?" Piper shouted back at him.
"Because he's not the one lying to my face right now Piper," Percy called out with deadly calm. "He's not the one with the blood of my family on their hands, claiming innocence all while you kidnapped my sister!"
"What are you talking about Percy!?" Piper added with confusion, her whole body tensing up as Percy crossed the distance between them in little more than two seconds and just glared down at her.
"I dont fucking trust you Piper, I might not have noticed before, but I can feel you using your powers every time you open your fucking mouth." Percy growled out his eyes crackling with power. "Dionysus already admitted that the entire council decided to send you after my mother together, so it's fine… lie all you want. After you give my sister back," Percy finished as he stood inches away from her.
Annabeth was in shock, none of this made sense. It was like every possible bad event that could have happened was dropping all at once.
"S-seaweed brain… It's me… I'm not lying to you please… you know I would never hurt Sally.." Annabeth managed to get out in a small voice as she took a step forwards and reached out for Percy's shoulder.
The second her hand laid on it he seemed to recoil from here, as if it hurt him physically, wincing as he looked away from her. "How am I supposed to know what you would and wouldn't do Annabeth… I never thought I'd have to chase you and take my sister away from you… But times change apparently." Percy added as he looked away from her, his eyes full of pain.
"Are you serious! We watched you fight Athena and Artemis, we watched you almost kill them. Don't pull that crap about not trusting us, or not thinking this would ever happen, I never thought my mother would have to come warn me that the great Percy Jackson was kicking the shit out of the Olympians!" Piper replied in frustration, before her face instantly morphed to one of horror.
Percy was frozen, his expression blank as he turned back to look at Piper, "So your mother warned you I was coming, I should have known. And that shit from Jason was what? An ambush? Are the three of you so fucking dense as to think that a little bit of lightning was going to stop me after everything I've gone through tonight!?"
Annabeth watched as every hope she had for how this was going to go crumbled to pieces around her, first they had left the cabin in a panic, letting fear take hold of them instead of thinking rationally.
Then Jason had undergone some sort of fit and attacked Percy the second he stepped out of the forest.
And now just as they had gotten him to calm down and talk, Piper had to open her big fat mouth and not only try to use her powers on Percy, but mention that Aphrodite had come to warn them about Percy showing up.
He looked angry when he first arrived, now he looked downright murderous. And the dark green light pulsing off him in waves left her feeling sick to her stomach.
"Last chance Piper, give me my sister." Percy said quietly as he looked at her, his hands shaking at his sides.
"Percy please, just talk to me! PLEASE!" Annabeth screamed as she reached out and grabbed at his arm dropping both her blades in the same motion. "Whatever you think happened all it's going to take is one talk with the Gods. We can figure this out I promise you!" Annabeth added quickly as Percy turned to look at her.
"So what, I sit down in a room and have a cup of tea with them? They tried to kill me, Annabeth. They killed my fucking mother, Artemis wanted me in chains before the Olympians, and you expect me to walk to them and ask for them to explain their side of the story!?" Percy said in genuine shock as he looked at her.
"... Look I know it sounds insane Percy, but there has to be something else going on, your grandfather is lying to you Percy! He attacked us and your mother! She saved us by sending us away!" Annabeth said as tears ran down her face.
She could see it in his eyes, the shadow of doubt.
Something she had never seen in his expression before as Percy casually tossed a gold coin on the ground. For a moment it spun through the air, before it flashed a golden light. Revealing a sword covered in red blood.
Jason's gladius, laid in the mud at her feet. The one he had lost during his fight with Sally's father, Which meant that Percy's grandfather had gotten to him first, Annabeth thought in horror.
"I'm done talking, Annabeth… I wont let them get away with this, and i wont forgive them for using you against me…" Percy said as his voice wavered slightly at the end, before he turned back to Piper and gently but firmly pulled Estelle from Piper's grasp.
"Percy stop, STOP BEING AN IDIOT FOR ONCE AND JUST LISTEN TO HER!" Piper shouted out as she struggled to stop Percy from pulling Estelle away.
In an instant Percy's hand lashed out, cracking across Piper's face and sending her reeling sideways to the ground as Percy looked at her in shock.
"JESUS PERCY!" Annabeth shouted as she rushed over to look at Piper, who was sitting on the floor in a daze, already a large red mark was swelling up all across the side of her face. Blood leaking from her nose and mouth as her gaze was dulled with confusion.
Meanwhile Percy stood still, looking horrified at his own actions as the green aura around him spluttered out. The green glow in his eyes vanished as the marks on his skin slowly went from gold to bronze and then finally returned to a black color as Percy walked towards the pair.
Annabeth stood and placed herself in front of Piper. "S-stop it…. This isn't you Percy…." Annabeth called out as she looked up at him, only to see the look of genuine agony on his face as he pressed Estelle into her arms and moved towards Piper, his hands starting to glow as he leaned down and pressed them against her body.
One on her cheek and the other on her collarbone as Piper was surrounded in a glowing light for an instant. As Piper's eyes fluttered open, looking up in confusion to see Percy crouched over top of her.
BANG, BANG.
Annabeth stood still in shock, blood dripping down her face as she turned to look at Piper in horror before her head whipped around and she stared at Jason. "JASON WHAT THE FUCK! WHA- WHY!?" Annabeth screamed as she looked at him, her hands clenched Estelle's blanket tightly as her eyes never once left Percy's body.
Which was currently laying face down on the ground, a small pool of blood all around him, and a hole in his back. Courtesy of the shotgun in Jason's hands.
There was a dull roar echoing in her ears, it almost drowned out the insane braying and howls of the Hellhounds that had surrounded them.
Almost.
Jason for his part was getting to his feet, with a blank look on his face, that same strange silver glow emanating from his eyes as he groaned. A small trickle of blood ran down his face as he stumbled away from Percy's body.
For a moment Annabeth watched in horror as the motionless body of the love of her life laid on the ground, and then he twitched. It was a small movement, just a single finger, but Annabeth saw it clear as day. .
His body almost shivering as a black smoke billowed out of the tattoo on his chest, and an inhuman howl of pain and anger tore itself free from his throat as every muscle in his body tensed and his hands dug furrows in the dirt underneath him.
She could hear Piper screaming at Jason, the scuffle that ensued as her voice once more laden with charm speak commanding Jason to drop the gun. Which resulted in the two of them fighting over the gun for a moment before the silver glow in Jason's eyes faded and he looked around in confusion. First at the gun in his hands and then at Piper and Annabeth's horror stricken faces.
Eventually his gaze was directed towards Percy's slowly twitching body, and again for a moment he looked confused until suddenly the look of recognition on his face surfaced and he looked down at the gun in his hands in horror.
"W-what happened?" Jason stuttered out as he suddenly winced, noting the pain in his gut and chest as he almost doubled over in pain.
"What happened?" Piper said in a deadly quiet voice. "YOU JUST SHOT HIM IN THE FUCKING CHEST TWICE JASON! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" Piper screamed as she shoved him backwards and looked back at Percy in horror.
The wound was rapidly stitching itself shut as bones and skin regrew before Annabeth's very eyes, however Percy was in agony, every vein on his body stood out stark against his skin, every muscle tensed in pain as slowly but surely the blood stopped trickling from the wound on his chest.
The smoke faded and stopped swirling from around his chest, and Annabeth noted almost instantly that the tattoo was larger, now curling over his shoulder towards his back, and reaching farther down towards his bicep.
But she was snapped from her thoughts as a ragged wet cough echoed from the ground in front of her as she tried not to be sick. Watching blood bubble from Percy's nose and mouth as tears poured down her face.
The hellhounds all around them continued to bray and howl into the night sky as Annabeth tried to stop trembling, trying to repress the urge to run away as Percy's body spasmed violently for a minute before he suddenly stopped.
All at once the hellhounds stopped their howling.
"So that's how it is huh, Jason?" Percy's voice called out as he lay there, his eyes glowing bright green.
Annabeth didn't even register him moving, he just seemed to vanish, in fact it was only when Jason screamed out in pain that Annabeth noticed Percy wasn't on the ground anymore.
Her head whipped around to see Jason, his leg bent at a strange angle as Percy held him aloft with an ironclad grip on Jason's neck.
"That fucking hurt…" Percy growled out as he tightened his grip on Jason's throat. Leaving Jason gasping like a fish with his mouth open as he slowly went a deep shade of red.
Fuck, fuck, fuck! Annabeth thought desperately as she looked for somewhere safe to put Estelle, anywhere so that she could at least try and stop Percy from killing Jason.
Piper seemed to have the same idea as she ran towards Percy and thrust Katoptris forwards, a look of shock crossing her face as she froze mid thrust. The blade inches from his side, as Percy slowly turned and looked at her. "You're going to get hurt, Piper." Percy said dryly as she suddenly flew backwards away from him. Landing gently enough on the ground and immediately freezing in place even as Annabeth could see her struggling to move her arms and legs. "PERCY! LET ME GO! NOW!" Piper screamed out as her voice was so convincing, Annabeth almost tried to run over and convince Percy herself.
Percy meanwhile had a distant look for an instant before his gaze focused once more and he looked at her angrily, waving his hand as her mouth suddenly clamped shut. Leaving Piper with nothing more to do than thrash her head back and forth as she looked at Percy in fear.
"And you…" Percy growled out as he turned to look back at Jason who was barely conscious at that point. "You won't ever hurt ANY of my family EVER again!" Percy added as he threw Jason into the ground. The dull boom was accented by Jason's scream of pain as Percy slammed his fist into Jason's chest, filling the air with the sound of cracking bones.
Annabeth screamed in horror as she rushed forwards, she had to stop this. Percy was going to kill him. If he did that, Zeus wouldn't rest until Percy was dead. It would be the end of everything they had worked for. Already she could see the future she wanted with Percy slipping from her grasp, if he killed Jason there wasn't any coming back from that. There wouldn't be college, there wouldn't be a happy ever after for them.
He would be an enemy of Olympus, and Zeus wouldn't rest until he had taken revenge for Jason's death.
"Percy STOP! Gods above please stop! Just take Estelle and Go! PLEASE!" Annabeth screamed as she rushed towards him, tears streaming down her face as she begged Percy to just leave.
Already Jason looked half dead, blood bubbling from his nose and mouth as he lay on the ground at Percy's feet.
Percy meanwhile was looking down at Jason, his face contorted into a feral snarl he panted heavily. His left hand still gripped Jason's limp arm by the wrist, as he stared down at the bloody son of Jupiter.
Annabeth almost breathed out a sigh of relief, maybe he had come to his senses.
Then with a sound Annabeth would never forget, Percy casually placed his foot on Jason's chest pinning him in place. Then he looked down at the half conscious demigod, "You wont hurt any of my family, Ever again…." He added before he savagely yanked on Jason's arm.
He tore the arm clean out of the socket, and with a gut wrenching pop followed by Jason screaming in an inhuman voice as Percy casually tossed the arm off to the side, one hand running through his hair as he stumbled back from Jason's body, whispering to himself as he looked at Jason's body intensely.
"... P-percy… w-what the fuck did you just do…?" Annabeth whispered in horror as she looked at him, and clutched Estelle closer to her chest.
"What he deserved…." Percy growled out as he shook his head like a dog, covering one of his ears as he winced in pain. "Shut up already…."Percy grunted out as he stumbled to one side almost drunkenly.
Meanwhile the skies above Percy, crackled with more thunder than Annabeth had ever thought possible, solidifying into a singular point, high above them, as it grew in intensity. Shortly, it was so bright that Annabeth couldn't even bear to look upwards. However, Percy looked up at the sky and just stood there waiting.
"Bring it on you piece of shit." Percy called out to the sky as more lighting leapt between the clouds. And like some sort of statue Percy continued to stand there staring at the heavens, a murderous expression on his face.
With a roar, the skies above them exploded as lighting rained down from the sky towards Percy, only for Percy to swipe his hand outwards like a claw. Sending the lighting scattering across the sky, like it had suddenly hit an invisible wall.
The strain of it dropped Percy to one knee, but the effects on the storm were something else. The lightning tore back into the dark sky, sending arcs of lightning across the black clouds before dozens of lightning strikes happened all at once.
Like missiles all around them dozens of bolts of lightning slammed into the ground at once. Sending chunks of earth flying into the air, setting fire to various trees and overall causing untold damage to the surrounding countryside.
Annabeth for her part wanted to run over to Jason, to make sure he was alive at the very least, if only so she could bring him back and kill him for somehow being dumb enough to get possessed AGAIN and shoot Percy in the chest, with a shotgun of all things.
Meanwhile, Jason was lying still on the ground, his skin having gone very white as he no longer moved or screamed, just laid there on the ground twitching occasionally. A slow trickle of blood running from the stump of his left arm as his right hand somehow continued to press against the wound.
"Gods above Percy, you've just declared war on Zeus, he's not going to rest until he has your head on a pike. Mounted on the gates of Olympus." Annabeth said in a shaky voice as her body still refused to move. The realization of what was going on took her a moment, but when she realized that it was Percy who was controlling her, all the color drained from her face as she looked at him in fear.
"P-percy this isn't natural… no human is supposed to have power like this'' Annabeth stuttered out as Percy walked to stand right in front of her. Leaning in so that his gaze was level with hers as she felt her mouth dry almost instantly.
The familiar scent of the sea that she loved about him was mixed with the heavy odor of blood and ichor. His eyes that were once such a lovely shade of sea green were now dark and filled with anger as he looked at her. But even as he was, she could still see 'Her Percy' right in front of her.
"Some things aren't meant to be controlled, that's what you told me Annabeth… Well I don't want to be controlled by the Olympians anymore. I'm done with it. The endless quests, the death and destruction. I gave up my childhood for them, and for what? So they could kill my mother?" Percy growled out in anger as he removed Estelle from Annabeth's arms.
"What are you talking about Percy, we didn't hurt her! Whatever your Grandfather told you is a lie!" Annabeth called out. "He attacked us! He attacked your mother! And we barely escaped with our lives!" Annabeth added.
"I killed six Titans, and shattered an entire army. Killing more monsters than I think any single Greek hero has in the history of our kind. And what was my reward? To be told, and then have it confirmed that the Olympians betrayed my mother. To have the Gods I spent years protecting attack me after I saved the camps, they wanted to drag me in chains to Olympus, all because of the Ardwyrian blood in my veins.." Percy added as his hands shook with anger.
"They declared war, not me Annabeth." Percy finished.
Annabeth just stared at him in confusion, "What do you mean the Olympian's betrayed her…? To whom?" Annabeth asked as she couldn't help but ask. "Who told you that?" she added quickly as her thoughts were racing at a thousands miles a second.
"Who else has wanted me dead or on her side for the last year, Wise girl…" Percy added only to stop speaking midway and looked at the sky as Annabeth suddenly felt the air around them charge with energy. "And Dionysus told me before I turned the inside of his head into a slushie…." Percy added darkly.
Percy's shoulders stiffened as he looked back at Annabeth, she could see the pain in his eyes as he looked at her. "Did you know? About me that is… was it real, or just an act wise girl?" Percy asked her, his voice practically breaking as one of the larger wolves moved towards him leaning against Percy with its shoulder, as Percy grabbed a fistful of black fur.
Tears were pouring down Annabeth's face as she tried in vain to move, to rush over to him as he looked at her, the pain in his eyes shattering her heart into a million pieces. Her voice barely worked as she simply stuttered out. "O-of course P-percy… you have to believe me.. I love you, I didn't know it, I swear!" Annabeth sobbed out as he looked at her.
And there it was again, that clear shadow of doubt that crossed his face as he looked at her before he looked away from her. "I want that to be true so badly…." Percy half whispered as suddenly Annabeth felt the presence of a dozen gods rapidly approaching.
And something else, as the very air grew hot. And a distant roaring sound filled her ears.
"You can tell them when I get away from here that I won't forget why my sister has to grow up without her mother." Percy added as his eyes glowed a bright green, leveling a fixed stare at Annabeth as she felt the gods' arrival.
Four beams of golden light touched down around them as Poseidon, Hades, Hestia and a strange woman emerged surrounding them, all of them glowing as their auras shimmered to life around them.
The woman Annabeth had never seen before, she vaguely seemed to resemble Hestia and was dressed in a similar white chiton, but appeared to be in her mid twenties. However that was where the resemblances ended. A large pair of horns curled up from her temples into her hairline, and a large pair of flaming wings curled about her body.
The strange woman stepped clear of the golden light she locked eyes with Percy across the field.
Just as Percy vanished into the shadows alongside the wolf beside him. The rest of his pack scattered as the woman lifted one hand and sent several large tendrils of fire after the wolves. Incinerating any of the animals her flames happened to touch.
In that instant whatever hold Percy had been exerting vanished and Annabeth collapsed to her knees. A scream of pain tearing free of her throat as she sobbed on her knees.
He was gone, AGAIN! But unlike last time, he wasn't missing in Tartarus, no instead he had chosen to leave, because the Gods had betrayed him, they had pushed their greatest hero a step too far.
And now he was gone, and she was alone again.
She could hear Piper screaming, the Gods rushing towards Jason. The questions they asked her, but none of it mattered as she sat there numb. Aphrodite had told her what she had to do, she had to have faith in him.
And even with that guidance she had failed him, again. And now he was alone and immersed in his hatred of the Gods. She had seen what that path could do to someone, and she wasn't about to let it happen to Percy.
Even as the chaos continued around her, she barely noticed it. The strange woman walked over to lay a hand on Jason's chest alongside Hestia as flames leapt out to cover his body.
Piper's frantic screams as Hades held her back, and Poseidon's look of blank shock as he stared at the spot where Percy had vanished from moments before.
Even as the boom of thunder rolled out across the sky, summoning the gods to Olympus, Annabeth barely reacted. Refusing to tear her gaze from the spot Percy had been in moments before. Trying to memorize every detail of his face, until the next time she saw him.
And she was going to see him again, nothing in this world or the next was going to keep her from him now.
Cal 4 Days 1 Hours & 20 Minutes After Eripus
Cal sat in a small white room, the floors covered in the finest of marble tiles, polished to a shining gleam. Expensive tapestries and paintings adorned the walls, depicting great military victories from times past.
Scenes from the conquests of Lotharingia, The Crusades, The Mongol Empire, even China and Japan were displayed in equal parts.
The room contained several chairs, and two side tables which were overflowing with flowers, their delicate scent mingling with that of smoke from the small fireplace on the other side of the room.
Dominating the room was a large bed, in which laid a pale woman. Her raven locks fanned about her head as strange runic marks covering her arms stood out in stark contrast to the pale skin.
"I felt the spell on the Grace boy activate…. I-I'm sorry, I know you didn't want this for him." Cal said his voice thick with grief as he looked at the woman in the bed. She made no move to respond, and save for the gentle and steady beep of the heart monitor by her bedside she might have passed for dead.
With a sigh Cal rubbed his hand over his face, "He needs to be stronger than I am, than I ever could be… And this is the path he has to walk in order to rise to his destiny." Cal added passionately.
Gesturing around the room at the many tapestries, "Our people have bled for humanity, across the ages we have risen to save them from the darkest threats that could ever face this realm. But it was not enough, it was never enough."
Cal stood from his chair as he walked over towards the fireplace, staring into the crackling flames with a blank expression on his face.
"Your son is the last hope of the Ardwyr. Perseus is the last hope of fulfilling our peoples' mission. But to do that he must be ready to not only do the impossible, but he must do it alone. None of his friends or family can share this burden with him." Cal added, "Its daunting, and lonely, and it drove my father insane. But Perseus is no coward, and you didn't raise him to quit."
Cal walked over and gently, almost lovingly, brushed a stray strand of hair from Sally's face. "Your son will surpass them all, I've given him what he needs, even against your wishes, and now the path lies before him. Now all that remains is to wait, and see what your son chooses to do." Cal finished in a monotone voice as he looked upwards at the ceiling.
Which was covered completely in a massive mosaic, showing green fields around a massive mountain in the distance. Sheep and farmers were present in the foreground of the scene, enjoying the idyllic weather.
In the background, a gleaming white city rose from the open plains, its tall towers and blue and gold colors flapping in the wind above the keep.
"The last child of the Ardwyr will rise to see his duty through, daughter. Of that I am sure." Cal added as he stared at the fields of his childhood. "I am as sure of that as I am that my death will come just before he fulfills his destiny."
When, with a sigh Cal stood, stretching the muscles in his back and legs, he put the pieces on the board.
Percy had cut his ties with the Gods, and was headed to Tartarus, where his skills would be honed to perfection. The blood he had taken from Sally and had 'delivered' to Gaea would no doubt be enough to satisfy the old hag's ritual.
That would keep the Olympians busy for far too long to bother Perseus, and with any luck once the other Tartarii were free they would turn the budding Ardwyr into something more. They would unleash his full potential, the one born and bred into his genes.
He was Perseus Achilles Artorian, and one day soon, he would be known by another name. One day when his potential was unleashed, he would be seen as not only the last Ardwyr, but the greatest Ardwyr to ever walk this realm.
One day soon, they would fear his name, they would fear "The Last Son of The Ardwyr."

Wow, sorry this chapter took me so long to get to you guys, a serious case of writer's block and me being too picky about my own writing. My bad on that one. But the chapter is here now and I hope everyone enjoyed reading it!
Obviously everyone has been waiting a while to see the throw down between Percy and some Olympians, so hopefully you all enjoyed that awesome fight. But come on, there has to be some questions?
He managed to reunite with his sister, but in the process he only sorta kinda maimed Jason. (Thoughts?)
Annabeth failed to stop him, but it appears as if someone really is manipulating things from behind the scenes. Something even the gods have not clued into yet. Can Annabeth figure it out?
The Cat is also out of the bag, some of the gods clearly know or suspect who he is. But Percy clearly isn't willing to fight for the Olympians anymore. So what's next for our Hero and how are the Olympians and the Nine Demigods going to react to the news that the Ardwyr is Percy Jackson?
Should the news be made public? Imagine the demigods outcry when they learn why their greatest hero abandoned the cause.
Hopefully you all enjoyed this chapter. I know it has been a long time coming and I'm very sorry for the delay. This fight scene was 3x longer than any I've written previously and it took a LOT of editing and rewriting until I was happy with it.
As always thanks to anyone who takes the time to comment, follow or favorite. I take time to read them all and try to reply to as many as I can! I hope everyone enjoyed the chapter and I look forward to writing the next one.
Hope yall are ready to head back to Japan ;)
Until next time folks!
