Memoirs of Mort

By Lord Voldemort

Muggles say there is nothing faster than the speed of light. But they always overlook one thing – the dark. No matter how fast light races along, it always finds the dark waiting there for it. The Darkness is generous, more so than the Light. For the Dark allows us places to hide, places to blend in with. As I watch, the shadows dissolve into the black robes of the Death Eaters.

My followers, my clan, my pack. They convene when I summon them. They belong to me, this collection of miscellaneous beings – werewolves, giants, witches, and wizards. This grand assortment will be larger one day, and will include all across the world. For I know that one day, these statues of Dumbledore and Merlin will be torn down. There will be no art of the wizards that were. All that remain will be the likenesses of me – the wizard that is. My ideals shall supersede theirs as the way of the Light crumbles into Dark. The antiquated ideas of honor and courage have no place in a society built upon cunning and shrewdness. The world of wizards will be governed by the new order – my order. And those of the highest stature will be my pure-blooded Death Eaters, my loyal servants. There will be no higher level anyone can reach.

Many of the Old Order fear my ways. They have tried to send emissaries to negotiate the fate of the world, but I will have none of that. The only way to create a New Order is to obliterate the old one. The New Order will be my order. Divergent from the Old Order in every way, my New Order will ensure the supremacy of the Pure Blood, contrasting to Dumbledore's foolish support of the Mudblood. There will be no fear of social mobility – for there will be no need for it. Everyone will be equal, everyone will be perfect. There will be only one class. My world will be the utopia of wizards.

Yet, some still try to resist me, fighting my ways at every turn. There is only one option for them – death. Through the hands of my servants, they always die. I wonder how death looks to them, as they stare it in the eyes and know they will never escape. I wonder what they feel as they fall recumbent on the ground for the last time. I shall never know, for I shall never have to stare Death in the eyes.

For I am he: The Lord of Death.

A/N: Yes, I am well aware the 'Voldemort' translates into 'flees from death.' But Lord of Death just worked so much better.
