Summary: How I think Gemini should have ended…Missing Scene
Brief summary of Gemini: Replicator Carter contacts the SGC telling them that Fifth has modified the disrupter and is coming to attack Earth. Rep Carter tells them that she wants to be destroyed. Col. Carter says that they should get all the info possible from her (rep carter) Replicator Carter tricks Sam into trying to modify the disrupter again by showing her memories of Rep Carter being forced to kill her friends. Fifth dies, Rep Carter is off to rule the world!
Lt. Col Samantha Carter sat in her lab examining the destroyed replicator pieces, placing them under her microscope and trying to find something, anything that would be useful. General O'Neill and Teal'c watched her.
"Y'know, I'm still of a strong belief that it's a bad idea to have that stuff on the base." O'Neill said suspiciously.
She didn't even bother glancing up at him "She deactivated these cells when she separated them from her arm."
"Can we be certain they will not become active again?" Teal'c asked in his usual monotone
"She deliberately shut down the cohesive energy between them so it would be more difficult for me to figure out how she made herself immune to the disrupter."
"Now, how do you know that?" O'Neill said in wonder
Finally she looked at him, sighing, "Because that's what I would have done." she said guilt thick in her voice
"Carter..." he said exasperatedly
She cut him off " Sir, if you don't mind, I've got a lot of work to do. We've never had the opportunity to study human form Replicator cells before. If we can learn something from them, this won't be a total loss."
"This isn't your fault."
She looked up again " I'm not so sure about that. Fifth came here because of me. She rejected him because she was made like me. Now we've got Replicators in our galaxy and they're immune to the only technology we have that could have stopped them."
Teal'c raised an eyebrow "None of us correctly anticipated the actions of the Replicator.'
"I thought she was afraid of him, but really she just wanted to get rid of him so she could lead the Replicators herself. She killed him because she thought he was weak."
" Carter – she isn't you."
"O'Neill is correct. Though she shared your memories, her personality was altered." Teal'c replied
"But the fact is she learned betrayal from Fifth. And he learned it from me." She looked back at the replicator dust.
Teal'c sighed, " I still do not believe there was anything you could have done. We will leave you to your tests Colonel Carter"
She looked up at as he walked from her office, the general stayed behind
"Carter…" she looked at him "its ok"
"I'm so stupid" she hissed angrily "she tricked me, she just like me…"
"No she isn't" he cut in
"Yes, she is. She knows everything about me; she knew exactly what to show me to make me believe her! She showed me the one thing that I just couldn't stand!"
He shot her a questioning glance. Suddenly she looked down "Nothing, sir"
"Carter" he warned
She took a deep breath "She showed me what Fifth made her do. He made her kill you, over and over and over. I saw the pain in her eyes when she shot you, the desperation in yours, the pleasure in his. He knew that, that was the one thing I just couldn't do"
"Carter…"
"Sorry, sir, but I really need to finish this." she said looking back at her work.
"Carter…"
"Sir, I really need to do this."
He nodded "Good Luck, Carter"
She looked up one final time, her eyes shown with something the General couldn't quite recognize "thank you, sir"
He left.
