Chapter 1

"Hey, Mom? Can I go to the library with my friends this afternoon?" Kasey asked politely. School had just got out for the summer, and she was excited to get to go out and not have to worry about having a test tomorrow, or finishing homework on time. Neither one were exactly her specialty.

"Why do you want to go to the library? I thought school got out today, you shouldn't have anything to study for, or any reports. Maybe last second extra credit for Language?" Her mom always had to know exactly where Kasey was at all times, even though the little town of Harpie, Missouri hardly had any criminal or gang or much any sort of activity at all, too many things were happening to young girls that were out, without supervision in other cities, and on the news, And Kasey was seriously over trusting of people she didn't even know.

"No, me and my friends want to use the computers, but just one isn't enough. We all want to play on one!"

"Ok, stay with your friends, and don't go anywhere but the library, and don't get on anything… inappropriate!"

"Thank you so much, Momma!" Kasey raced upstairs to her room to change out of her school uniform, thankful that she wouldn't have to wear it for about three months. She picked out her favorite shirt, it was hot pink and had a big, red heart in it that said 'you break it, you buy it.' then threw on a pair of shorts, and raced back down stairs, and out the door.

When Kasey met up with her two friends, Brea and Donna, they were almost to the library already.

"I want to show you a new web-site I found yesterday, I think you'll really like it, Kasey." Donna said, as soon as she got close enough for Kasey to hear her, which was about 40 meters away!

Brea had been Kasey's best friend once, they had been friends cense the first day of kindergarten, but a lot had happened and they weren't as close any more. Brea had curly, redish hair, and was a little past shoulder length, And Donna, strawberry blonde, and wore her hair close to the center of her back, and about Kasey's height, Donna met up with Kasey about three years ago, Brea and Donna bowed slightly, Kasey bowed back, it was like a handshake to them, they thought it was so sweet!

"Really, what's it called?" Kasey asked.

"I think it's… yes! It's called 'Neopets.' I know you love animals, so I bet you'll love this site, I can't tell you any more, it's a surprise! So SHHH!" And of course, nothing more was said about it.

"Here we are!" Brea shouted as they reached the library.

As everyone entered the room and went to the computers, the librarian asked what they were doing. "I thought school was out!"

They all laughed, any way, all but Kasey, beginning to tier of the comment by now. She just gave a fake smile.

"Here, I'll get your computer going. I know you'll love this site!" Donna continued. "The animals aren't real, but you get to care for them, like feed them, play with them, cure them of diseases and all that cool junk." She snickered.

"That sounds sweet!" Kasey and Brea both exclaimed.

When the computer was set, Kasey sat down and began to explore.

"Hey, lets all go play this game, its called 'Potato Counter' its an easy way to get some NP!" Donna said. "I'll explain all that stuff later!"

"I'm there, but look," Kasey pointed to a small sign that said 'Ever wish Neopets was real? Then this trial membership is for you! Click here' it was only there on Kasey's screen, so they all gathered around Kasey.

"Click it, let's see what it is!" Donna shouted.

"Ok," Kasey clicked it. All the sudden every thing around them went blurry. In her shock, Kasey grabbed her two friends' arms.
