Akari Hitoshimi, a second-year student at Ouran Academy. He shares the same class as the Host Club members, Tamaki Suoh and Kyoya Ootori. He never interacted with them, nor does he want to. It's not that he doesn't like them, he just doesn't want to be involved with them. He's fine being a nobody with his best friend, Fuji Takaro. What Akari didn't know was that things weren't going to go the way he wanted soon.

Chapter One: A Bunny's Hero

Akari was used to the excitement the Host Club members caused to the student populace. Especially the blonde, Suoh. He swore if his grades didn't tell otherwise he was a big idiot. He didn't understand why he was so popular, or why he had to get everyone involved in his stupid antics whenever he wanted. He was lucky he wasn't noticed by them.

He found himself to be average, nothing too special and he preferred it that way. He didn't like having the spotlight on him, he preferred to be alone and in silence. Too bad he was friends with someone who wasn't the same.

"Akari!" A voice called out to him as the male was traversing the halls. Akari looked back, with a raised brow before seeing his best friend, Fuji. The other male ran up to him and crouch over, putting his hands on his knees as he caught his breath. Akari couldn't help but chuckle at his friend. Despite looking like he was fit, Fuji was very much out of shape.

"What is it, Fuji?" He asked, facing the other with his bag slung over his shoulder. He never saw Fuji run unless there was something going on, usually gossip. Fuji was very good at getting insight into what everyone was doing and what was going on in Ouran Academy. He was a magnet for that type of stuff, and of course, he would go to Akari to yap about it.

"What is it? Haven't you noticed everyone panicking?" Fuji exclaimed, Akari raising a brow in response.

"No?" He questioned before noticing everyone upset around him. "Why is everyone acting so emotional?" He asked now that he noticed today wasn't normal compared to other days.

"Honey-Senpai's toy rabbit is missing, no one knows where it is!" Fuji told him, the male waving his arms frantically in distress.

"... Really? All of this over a stuffed animal?" Akari asked with a blank expression on his face. "Why can't he just get a new one, he has the money for it," Akari suggested as he started heading towards his locker.

"This is serious, Hitoshimi! It was made by his dead Grandmothers', you can't replace something with that much sentimental value!" Fuji told him.

Akari sighed as he rubbed his temple. "Still, this shouldn't be made into a school-wide panic. It'll probably show up eventually, nothing to worry about." He told him.

"There's a lot to worry about! Honey-Senpai is unconsolable without his toy! He's statistically the highest source of happiness in this school, if he's not happy no one will be!" Fuji yapped on as Akari put his stuff in his locker.

"Now, you're exaggerating." He told the male, shutting his locker. He sighed as he knew Fuji wouldn't stop talking about until he acted as if he cared about a toy. He hated getting involved with stupid stuff like this.

A glance over at his best friend in tears made him mentally groan. "Alright, if you'll stop crying about something that isn't your business, I help look for Senpai's rabbit with you," Akari told him, Fuji's expression brightened up.

"Oh, Akari! I know you're just a big softy! You don't like seeing others upset!" Fuji exclaimed, hugging him.

'More like it annoys me.' Akari thought as he let Fuji hug him until the male was satisfied.

"Come on! Let's go to the gardens and look there! I'm sure that's where Usa-chan is!" Fuji said taking Akari's wrist and dragging him outside with mild protest.

"Idiot, it's not a real rabbit, why would it be outside? Where was the last place Senpai had his toy?" Akari asked, watching Fuji look through the bushes and flowers. "Something as 'sentimental' as you said, he would remember the last place he had it." Akari continued, lazily looking around the flowerbeds, not really into searching for this lost toy.

"That's the problem, he doesn't! That's why it's missing, dummy!" Fuji barked at him, Akari rolling his eyes in return.

An hour has passed and the search for the rabbit was a failure. It was obvious the rabbit wasn't going to be outside but Fuji was determined to look everywhere. Now though, he was upset at their lack of process. Akari was upset too, upset about wasting an hour of his life doing something stupid as this.

"Alright, I'm done. We've been at this for an hour and the rabbit is obviously not here. I'm going inside." Akari told Fuji, walking off.

"Wait! There's still plenty of places it could be!" Fuji called after him.

"I did my part, once you're done you can find me in the library." Akari waved back as he continued walking.

Akari immediately noticed once he was back inside that everyone was still trying to find the small, blonde's toy. Everyone was so stupid to go along with this idea that this rabbit was important. It was annoying, to say the least.

There was one plus to this, the libraries were nearly empty. That meant he would get some quiet around here. Just what he liked. So with a small smile, he took a seat and took out a random book to start reading.

By the time he was halfway done with the book, he took notice of how there were even fewer people than before he came here. That could only mean school was over, everyone should be heading home or to their clubs by now. He wasn't apart of any club so he didn't have the need to stay any longer. He sighed as he bookmarked his book and stood up.

This was a rare moment that would soon be over once Honey-Senpai's rabbit was found. He wouldn't be surprised if everything went back to normal tomorrow. He was confident the rabbit would've been found by morning.

~The Next Day~

So he was wrong about everything going back to normal, the toy wasn't found and everyone was still upset about it. This both concerned and irritated him. Yes, it was nice that it was quieter, but the mood just ruined it.

"Has anyone seen this rabbit!? Please contact the Host Club if you have seen anything, please!" He heard his classmate, Tamaki bawl out, handing out pieces of paper with the picture of the rabbit with the word, 'MISSING' on the top in bold red letters. He tuned out the blonde's frantic cries for help and distress as he swiped the flier out of the way as he tried doing his work. It was hard to focus with all of the commotion going on.

Once class ended Akari was in a bad mood, now he had a reason to look for this rabbit. He'd rather have everyone be annoying and happy than have everyone be annoying and crying. "I swear to fucking god if this rabbit isn't found by today I'm going to go insane." He grumbled, irritated.

Akari headed towards the gardens and found Fuji still there, looking. He could tell the other never went home, he was covered in dirt and soil. This was another reason why he had to find that bunny, so Fuji wouldn't spend his time doing something like this. He swears he could be worse than Suoh sometimes, at least more stubborn.

"Fuji!" Akari called out to the male, the male quickly looking over. He saw the bags under the male's eyes as they brightened up.

"A-chan! You came back!" Fuji exclaimed getting up and running over to hug him.

Akari quickly stepped aside, avoiding his friend's touch and watching him faceplant the ground. "Don't touch me, get up. The toy's going to be found today." Akari told him.

"What? Really!? You're going to actually help!" Fuji exclaimed with sparkles in his eyes.

Akari's eye twitched and glared hard at Fuji. "Yes, now get up and wash up." He told him walking back inside. He didn't wait for Fuji to follow as the male started his search.

The first place he headed was towards the Host Club, it wasn't during club hours so he didn't worry about interrupting anything. He honestly never set foot into the abandoned music room because of the Host Club, all of the attention given to a bunch of perverted teenage boys wasn't his thing.

The room was fairly empty, tables and chairs sprawled about the place, looked like the preparation of a big tea party. Of the aftermath of one gone wrong. It was obvious everything was checked for the rabbit, though haphazardly. It really looked like a tornado went through the place.

Avoiding the mess he headed towards the windows, it was possible the toy could've fallen out of the windows or something like that. He opened the window and looked out of it, looking around and seeing nothing. Something caught his eye in one of the trees as he leaned forward to see better. It looked like a nest, but the leaves and branches were covering it. It was worth a shot to check it out, even if he hated the thought of climbing a tree and getting dirty because of it.

Fuji barely made it to the Host Club, panting only for Akari to walk by him, heading the direction he just came from. "Come on!" Fuji complained that went on deaf ears as Akari headed outside.

The tree was bigger than he thought it was from the Host Club. "Everyone better be happy if this rabbit is in this tree." He grumbled to himself, hoping this wasn't for nothing. The climb was long since Akari wasn't used to doing anything this active, he could already feel his nerves spike up as he climbed higher and higher, batting away branches and leaves from his face.

By the time he reached the birds' nest, he was shaking and clinging to the tree. 'Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck! This is too high, what the fuck was I thinking!?' He thought to himself as he moved towards the nest. His eyes widened when he found the toy sitting in the nest, or more like a part of the nest. He didn't hesitate to grab the toy and pulling apart the nest from the rabbit.

"You better be glad there were no eggs in there, I'm not committing bird homicide." He told the stuffed rabbit, putting it in his shirt as he started the process of climbing down.

"Akari!" He heard Fuji gasp out as he leaned against the tree for support as he gasped for breath. "What the hell were you doing!?" He panted. "You're afraid of heights."

"Shut up and tell me where Honey-Senpai is." Akari shakily told him, taking out the rabbit from his shirt causing Fuji's eyes to widen.

"You found it! Oh my god, you're amazing, A-chan!" Fuji exclaimed hugging the male.

Akari grit his teeth and pushed him back. "Stop it." He told him before heading inside with Fuji happily trailing behind him, saying how happy and relieved everyone is going to be. Akari just wanted everyone to stop being so depressed and annoying, he could care less if others were happy about him finding this dumb toy.

He headed towards class 3A, knowing it was where Honey-Senpai's class was. He didn't care if he was going to interrupt class or getting attention, he just wanted this depressive mood to go away with this stuffed rabbit.

"I'm looking for Honey-Senpai." Akari immediately said once he entered the classroom. He did interrupt a class, and the teacher was going to say something before a gasp was heard.

"Usa-Chan!" He heard before he was jumped on. "You found him! Thank you so, so, so, so much!" Honey exclaimed with tears of joy as he hugged the rabbit as a crowd quickly formed.

"Oh, that's great! He has Usa-Chan back!" A girl said as Akari regained his balance from Honey jumping on him.

"You're a hero, where did you find him?"

"You're so kind to find honey's stuffed animal."

People started asking Akari. Akari opened his mouth to say something before Fuji butted in. "A-chan climbed this huge tree to find him, he's terrified of heights and even then he still climbed up there to get Usa-chan from a bird's nest!" Fuji started telling people, praising Akari as everyone in the classroom was listening.

It didn't take a genius to know Akari's life of quiet and solitude was over from that moment on.
