After the eventful sleep over at Honey's place Akari now has to stay away from Honey due to a cavity a week later. Why him? Because the Host thinks he'll give in because they're dating without supervision... It may or may not have been true, but still.
Chapter Eight: Three Bitter Days
"Now you've done it!" Tamaki exclaimed as they were looking at Usa-chan with tea spilt on it.
"It's done alright." Hikaru said.
"But it wasn't our fault." Kaoru replied.
"Not your- You're the ones who bumped into the table!" Tamaki scolded them. "What are we going to do!? He's going to freak out when he find out!" Tamaki said putting his hands in his hair.
"Excuse me, we don't have any guests at the moment, so I don't mind if you make a racket, but please," Kyoya looks over at Tamaki, who's shaking the twins and shouting at them about the mess. "Be careful. You don't want to wake Honey-Senpai."
The three paused and looked over at Honey who was sleeping on the couch with a canopy over it. "He's a third year and he still takes naps? Well we're going to have to tell him about the bunny at some point. Let's just wake him up and apologize." Haruhi said as she headed over being urged back by the trio.
Akari soon entered the room and was confused on what was happening. He looked at Kyoya who was typing on his computer.
"They're freaking out due to spilling tea on Honey-senpai's rabbit." Kyoya told him making him nod.
He looked at Honey sleeping and he remembered his time at Honey's place making him blush a bit. "What if I woke him?" He said and crouched next to Honey.
"No, don't!" The three whispered yelled at Akari, Haruhi and them looking in fear.
Honey whined slightly and started waking up.
"He's waking up! We'll have to use a substitute! We've got no choice!" Tamaki said.
Akari rolled his eyes and looked at Honey who was waking up. "Morning." He said softly to the blonde.
Honey rubbed his eyes. "Still... Sleepy." He grumbled and looked over seeing a teddy bear blankly before tossing it to the ground.
Tamaki shrieked at that as Honey looked over and spotted his bunny. He glared at them. "Who got Usa-Chan dirty?" He asked causing the twins and Tamaki to scream.
Akari got up and picked up the rabbit. "I did it." He said causing the trio and Honey to look at him.
"Huh!?" The trio exclaimed.
"I wanted some tea but it was hot so I dropped it and it spilled on him." Akari told him and held out Usa-Chan to him.
Honey took the toy. "It looks like he enjoyed it." Honey giggled. "You think he'd want some cake too?" He smiled happily at Akari who blushed and looked away.
Tamaki and the twins were slightly crying, baffled that that's all it took to save them.
"Honey, how do you like to have chocolate? Mousse? Bonbons? Wait, I bet chocolate cake is your favorite, huh?" One of the girls asked Honey while he was hosting.
"Umm let's see, well, I like them all! I love anything chocolate, Kari, Usa-Chan, and all of you ladies!" Honey replied Akari almost choking on his drink by him saying his name, or nickname like that.
"Oh, so cute!" The girls squealed.
"Mitsukuni Haninozuka, otherwise known as Honey-Senpai, age 17. Ouran Academy 3rd year, Class A and a member of the Host Club. Favorite things include cake, chocolate, and bunnies. He's famous for his enchanting boy-lolita characteristics." Renge started narrating watching them. Akari honestly didn't understand what she did in the host club.
"Honey-Senpai's catchphrases include 'I love candy!' and 'I love cute things!' and while some find these charming, I'm not quite sold on his cutesie loli boy image. It's not exciting enough. It feels like something's missing in his character arch!" Renge exclaimed.
"This isn't a story, there are no character archs." Akari muttered, he had nothing against Renge, just never really interacted with her very often, or at all.
Haruhi walked over to their table with a tray of tea. "Uh Honey-Senpai, you can't keep eating nothing but sweets all of the time. Y'know, you're going to end up with a cavity." She said as she set a cup of tea on the table.
"Oh don't worry, I always brush my teeth!" Honey smiled brightly before taking a bite of cake and jolted, tearing up a bit. Akari looked at Honey with the Hosts.
"Honey, your teeth." Akari told him standing up.
"It's nothing, kay." Honey held his cheek before the twins held him to the chair making him squirm and whine.
"Honey-Senpai, please quit squirming." One of the twins said.
Honey teared up at this. "There's nothing wrong, quit messing with me! Leave me alone!"
Mori stood up from his chair and pushed Honey down on the sofa, looking into his mouth.
The girls squealed loudly at the sight. "Yes, that's it, that's it! That's what was missing! It's moe~!" Renge exclaimed and looking at them eagerly.
"I knew I should've just went home after school." Akari told himself rubbing his temple.
"So is it a cavity?" Tamaki asked Mori looking on worriedly.
Mori looked up. "Yeah." He said looking at him. "Tamaki." He told him the blonde nodded.
"Yes, you're right, I'll take care of this." Tamaki cleared his throat looking on to the rest of the club. "Until Honey-Senpai gets over his cavity, I'm afraid he can't have sweets."
"What!?" Honey freaked out in tears.
"Therefore, we'll be supportive and ask that you kindly refrain from eating snacks in the clubroom until this ordeal is over." Tamaki continued.
"N-no! No don't Takashi, please don't take my snacks away." Honey cried. "You can't, don't do it.. What'll I do without them?"
Akari just looked on feeling bad for him watching him chase after Mori who had taken his unfinished cake slice and crying out loud when Mori told him to his face, 'No more cake'.
"Akari, we'd have to ask you to avoid Honey-Senpai until he heals from his cavity." Kyoya told him making Akari cough.
"What!? Why do I have to avoid him?" Akari asked.
"Because you can't say no to Honey-Senpai and you'll end up giving in to when he asks for sweets." The twins told him.
"I can say no to him." Akari defended himself with a blush.
"We haven't seen you say no to him ever, Senpai." Harurhi replied bluntly causing Akari to feel like he got stabbed in the head.
"And that's how it all began. One little cavity and suddenly Honey and Akari-Senpai's lives became a living hell." Renge narrated.
The next day Akari was walking down the hall with Fuji. "I can't believe you have to stay away from your boyfriend, like I understand you have a hard time saying no when it involves him." Fuji told him.
"I wouldn't give him candy or sweets when he has a cavity, idiot, why can't people see that?" Akari huffed and paused seeing Honey with a ribbon bandage tied around his head, holding his cheek.
Honey looked up seeing Akari for a second before hearing Mori's voice behind him and Akari being pulled away by Fuji.
"Why did you do that?" Akari hissed at Fuji.
"I'm helping so you don't give in." Fuji responded and they looked around the corner seeing Mori dump out Honey's bag that was full of candy.
"I was just looking. I wasn't going to eat them." Honey said, being able to hear him pout.
"Really? If you're just looking, then try this." Mori held a flier up to him, probably with candy on it. "I will keep the real stuff." He said as Honey screams and falls to the ground.
"Honey!" Akari exclaimed trying to go over but Fuji held him back and Honey looked up only to be dragged away from him when he tried to go to Akari.
Honey's 1st Strategy: Use the Cute
"Look Takashi! My cavity's all better now!" Honey said brightly running towards him.
"You sure?" Mori asked while reading in a chair.
"The swelling has even gone down!" Honey told him excitedly.
"Has it?" Mori replied.
"So, do you think I could have a piece of cake? Just one, please? And have Kari come back?" Honey asked before a popsicle got shoved in his mouth making him freak and pull back holding his cheek in pain.
"You're not fully recovered yet." Mori told him walking away with the popsicle.
Akari couldn't believe he was sneaking around just to see Honey. He peeked into the Host club seeing him and looked around to see if anyone was watching before trying to step in before being grabbed.
"You're not allowed back here." The twins told him making him squirm.
"This is ridiculous, I wasn't doing anything!" Akari exclaimed, Honey looked over and teared up seeing Akari being dragged out.
"Kari." He whined before another idea came to mind.
Honey's 2nd Strategy: The Indirect Method
It was the second day of Honey recovering from his cavity, the blonde watched a pair of girls drinking tea and eating sandwiches and came over. "What're you ladies drinking?" He asked using his cuteness as the girls looked nervous.
"Um, Darjeeling tea, it's really good!" One of the girls replied nervously.
"Yeah? What're you going to have to eat?" Honey questioned.
"Well I was going to have a sandwich..." The other girl replied just as nervous as Honey smiled more.
"Ahh, you know what you need? Some sweets! That tea would go well with something, sweet! Like maybe some cake! Like Strawberry cake and have Kari join us. C'mon, whaddaya say?" He asked excitedly. 'Oh boy~! Oh boy~!' He thought as this had to work for him.
"Well it would be good with cake..."
"It sure would." The two guests replied before they stood up and ran out of the room.
"We're so sorry, Honey!"
"But it's for your own good!" They told him running.
"B-b-but wait!" Honey reaches out to them, teary eyed and pouted.
Akari had Tamaki by the arm. "I don't understand why I can't come to the Host Club anymore." He told Tamaki.
"I'm sorry, but we can't risk Honey getting sweets when he still has his cavity." He exclaimed.
"Everyone is going to be there to watch, I won't do anything!" Akari retorted back letting go of Tamaki.
"Okay, okay, you have a point." Tamaki said and hummed putting his hand to his chin. "Okay! You can come back to the Host Club as a guest again! But avoid Honey outside of the Host Club until further notice." Tamaki told him pointing at him.
Akari stared at him. "Fine..." He said glad he would be seeing Honey again.
Honey's 3rd Strategy: Pulling at the Heartstrings
Honey was sulking a bit as he walked up to Haruhi.
"Honey-Senpai?" She asked before Honey took her sleeve.
"Haru-Chan... Am I a bad person?" He asked her looking up at her teary eyed. "I just don't understand why God hates me. What have I done?" He said his hands shaking a bit as he clung to her blazer.
Haruhi's eyes soften before looking around for the others. "Okay fine, but only this once, okay?" She said reaching into her pocket.
Honey perked up smiling. "Is it a snack!?" He asked getting excited.
"Yeah, here." Haruhi replied and puts a bar of Kyoto Kelp into his hands. "It's the same color as chocolate, try it!" She said smiling.
Honey just stared blankly, turning white as he realized he chose the wrong person to manipulate.
Third Day of Candy Prohibition
Akari was able to get into the Host Club this time but he felt that even he wouldn't be able to cheer Honey up at this rate as he and the Hosts watched Honey pace back and forth irritatedly in front of the kitchen.
"He's going to crack." Tamaki said as they were all watching Honey anxiously.
"Would somebody please talk to him? He's scaring me..." Kaoru said to the others.
"Don't look at me, I can't do anything when he's like this." Akari replied as they looked at him.
Honey suddenly stopped and opened the doors to the kitchen. "He's heading for the candy!" Hikaru exclaimed freaking out.
"No need to worry, we emptied out all the sweets." Kyoya said with a smile as he typed on his computer.
"Kyoya-Senpai, you seem very chipper today." Haruhi commented.
"Probably because desserts cost a lot of money." Akari replied. "Especially with the amount Honey consumes."
They looked and watched Honey open a cupboard before reaching inside and slamming a stuffed bear to the ground.
"He keeps doing that to my teddy bear!" Tamaki exclaimed.
"Why was your stuffed bear in the cupboard anyway?" Akari asked him and they watched as Honey stumbles out of the kitchen before collapsing to the floor.
"Well, there he goes."
"Three days and he gives up." The twins said.
Tamaki went forward and gently shook him. "Um, Honey-Senpai?" He asked before Honey's head turned and bit Tamaki's hand causing him to shriek. "Somebody help me! He's eating my arm off!" he exclaimed waving his arm around and running screaming as Honey clung to him.
"Honey!" Akira exclaimed about to go over to help before Mori stood up and walked over.
"Mitsukuni, don't take this out on other people." Mori told him making Honey stop and let go slowly glaring.
Tamaki rubbed his hand with tears streaming down his face. "You saved me, I thought I was a goner." He told Mori but Mori wasn't focused on him.
"It's disgraceful." Mori told Honey.
Honey growled a bit glaring hard at Mori. "Takashi..." He growled before grabbing the male and flips him over his shoulder. "YOU IDIOT!" He shouted making the hosts and Akira freak. "A little bit isn't gonna hurt me! You're so mean! You're such a hardhead! That's it, I hate you!" He shouted at him tearing up. "I hate you Takashi!" He said before turning and runs out of the room.
"Honey!" Akira stood up.
"Honey-Senpai!" Tamaki called after him and ran after him, Akira close behind.
"Honey, wait, stop!" Akira said as Honey finally stopped and turned towards him with tears streaming down his face as Tamaki caught up. Honey sobbed and ran and hugged Akira, burying his face in his shoulder.
"I hate him, I hate him. I hate him!" Honey sobbed clinging to Akira.
"That's not how you really think, I know you don't feel like that." Akira told him.
"There has to be an explanation for this, Senpai. Do you really think Mori-Senpai would do this because he hates you?" Tamaki asked softly. Honey looked up slightly at Tamaki. "I think Mori-Senpai wanted this to happen to him, he feels guilty." Tamaki told him.
"How do you know that?" Honey sniffed.
"Do you want to hear for yourself?" Tamaki asked as Akira put Honey down.
Honey nodded and they headed back but stayed out of the room to listen in.
"Mori-Senpai, by any chance, have you been acting like this because you're trying to get Honey-Senpai to hate you?" They heard Haruhi ask him.
"Why would he do that?"
"It makes no sense, that would be like the end of the world for Mori-Senpai."
"Why would he do it on purpose?" The twins asked.
"Well maybe he was trying to punish himself. I'm right, aren't I?" She told Mori.
"Yea you are. This was my fault. Mitsukuni has a cavity... Because I'm careless. Twice before his nap time I forgot to make him brush his teeth." Mori said. Akari blinked from the other side of the door and looked down at Honey who was focused on the door.
"But that's not really your responsibility."
"He should know better." The twins were heard saying as Akira kept staring at Honey who was starting to sweat a bit.
"But if Mitsukuni has to get false teeth, it'll be my fault." Mori replied.
"Uh... Don't worry, that's not going to happen."
"Wow, what a pessimist." Haruhi muttered.
"I wouldn't be able to live with myself right now, if he hadn't thrown me down." Mori said softly. Honey reached for the handle.
"Because he felt at fault, Mori-Senpai wanted some sort of punishment from Honey-Senpai to make up for his failure." Kyoya stated.
Tamaki places a hand on Honey's shoulder making the other blonde look up at him. "Well, there you have it. Honey-Senpai, what will you do now?" He asked him.
Honey tears up and pushed the doors open and run towards Mori crying. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry Takashi! I promise, I won't forget to brush my teeth again! I won't forget!" He said hugging him as Mori hugged back.
"I feel like I'm in a soap opera." Akira muttered rubbing his temple.
"Join the club." Haruhi replied.
A few days later Honey's cavity was better and was back to stuffing his face with sweets. So everything was more or less back to normal. Akira felt a little sorry for Kyoya as he had a calculator in one hand while having bills in the other looking down with a sigh.
"Kari! Let's share a slice!" Honey told him and took his hand leading him to his table happily and ate the cake. Akira smiled a bit and ate from the cake.
"Mitsukuni, you've made a mess." Mori said wiping Honey's face as the girls squealed at the sight.
Akira just sighed and went back to eating cake.
