Virgil looked up from his playing as a laughing Alan tore through the lounge, a vengeful-looking Scott close on his heels. The youngest sprinted up the stairs to the mezzanine, ran to the other end and vaulted the railing, landing in a perfect tuck and roll. Scott followed him seconds later, planting one foot on the railing to aid his leap down and his momentum carrying him almost to the desk. Alan had recovered his feet by this point, sprinted around the sunken conversation pit and made for the stairs down to the kitchen as Scott charged after him.
Distantly, Virgil heard a yelp from Alan as Scott finally caught him, the sounds of a scuffle, then a cut off squawk from Scott and a very loud splash.
Virgil chuckled to himself and shook his head as he pieced together what had probably happened- Scott had tried to throw Alan in the pool, a favourite way to deal with squirrely brothers, but from the sounds of it Alan had latched on and taken Scott with him.
He turned a page on the book of sheet music and started playing again- it was a new piece that he wanted to learn in time to play for Grandma's birthday next month.
A moment later Kayo wandered in and leaned against the piano, watching him play. "So, has John gotten his revenge on you yet for the mud puddle?" She asked impishly.
"Yep." Virgil flicked a glance up at her, then back to the page, this was a tricky piece. "He changed all my computer interface themes to 'Hello Kitty' for an hour, including the theme music."
"Ugh." Kayo shuddered delicately. "That's just cruel."
"What did Alan do to Scott?" He asked, reaching out to turn the page.
"Alan built an annoy-a-tron and hid it somewhere in Scott's room." Kayo smirked.
"Ah, that explains the random beeping I was hearing." Virgil nodded. "You got an idea on how to get John back?" He'd been in earshot when Kayo found the sugar-glitter bomb. A very sparkly and very sticky Kayo had very creatively told John what she thought of his idea.
"Oh, I have something I'm working on." She smiled slowly, the one that meant trouble. "What about you? Anything up your sleeve?"
"Spoilers." Virgil grinned at her. "But let's just say John's going to regret his choice of watching old British sci-fi shows to wind down before bed."
