They stood in the kitchen, dressed in work out clothes when he got a text from the movers.
"They're almost here," he said and she nodded sipping her coffee.
"Sarah said she and Dickie are 5 minutes out so this is perfect timing." She said with a smile.
He dropped a kiss to her lips. "Dickie sanctioned this you know… we can tell the other kids while we wait on him."
She shook her head. "I just worry… you know. With everything that's gone on, I'd rather tell him in person."
"Tell me what?" The oldest Stabler boy asked as he walked in.
He stopped short seeing the glint on her finger and he couldnt help his smile.
"You guys think I'm so cynical all the time- I've gotten much better," he said, walking over to hug them both. "Congrats guys."
"To be fair, you're still pretty cynical," Liv teased causing them to laugh. "But thank you… I appreciate you Dickie." She nodded, putting a hand on his arm.
She moved to hug his fiancé tight. "Hi sweetie," she grinned. She and Sarah had gotten just as close as she and the girls. They gave each other a squeeze and she admired her ring.
"Eli doing ok this morning? He said he was upset last night but Liv talked to him." Dickie asked leaning on the counter.
"He was better after we talked. Just missing your mom and lots of change…" Liv said softly and Dickie nodded. "But, I'm glad he reached out to you," she smiled. "You two doing okay?"
He nodded smiling small. "Yeah… I try to check in once a day."
Sarah smiled up at him and he hugged her into his side.
"Good I'm glad to hear that… could be nice if you could take him out for a guys day, just you two?" she suggested and he nodded. "Good idea…" he paused and she laughed. "Noah will live."
They all chuckled and El opened the fridge. "Alright I bought mimosa stuff to celebrate so…???" He questioned holding up the contents from the fridge.
Liv cracked up and kissed him. "Yes please!"
Sarah smiled hesitantly at Dickie who wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"Guys?" He asked, looking at them. Neither were able to hide their smile.
Liv caught on immediately and broke out into a huge grin. "Shut up."
Elliot looked between the three adults in the kitchen. "….what…"
Dickie and Sarah grinned and Liv rushed to hug her. "Oh baby… congratulations!!!"
She squeezed her tightly and then she moved to Dickie pulling him tightly. "I'm so happy for you, son!" She cried, the term slipping out.
He hugged her tightly, "Thank you, Liv."
"Guys," El said, "what did I miss?"
Dickie laughed pulling back and looked down at his fiancé with a grin. "We're having a baby!" She exclaimed.
Elliot's jaw fell and he froze. Sarah laughed looking up at Dickie.
He approached his dad slowly, smiling small. "Dad…" El broke his stare and wrapped his arms around his son.
"I'm gonna be a grandpa???" He said, pulling back after a moment.
He nodded quickly, smiling. He wrapped his free arm around Liv and smiled small. "And Liv is going to be a grandma," he said, his voice cracking a bit.
Liv teared up, hugging his middle, tightly. "Congrats you guys… I can't believe it," she smile up at him and grasped his face.
He started to get emotional when they made eye contact and hugged her a little tighter, letting a few tears fall onto her shoulder where he rested his head. "Your momma is so proud…" she whispered to him and he nodded.
She wasn't very religious, but she did the church show each week for El and the big kids, and her two littles that had grown to love it. Soothingly rubbing her oldest boy's back, she whispered, just loud enough for him, the most Catholic thing that had ever heard come out of her mouth.
"You know she was up there loving on that little baby before it came down here right?" A sob escaped his chest and he just hugged her tighter, nodding.
Sarah and El wrapped their arms around them for a big group hug and Dickie eventually pulled back, putting his arms protectively around all three right as the movers knocked.
"No one tell Lizzie I bawled like a baby," he said and everyone laughed.
"Definitely telling Lizzie," Sarah teased.
They'd halfway moved all of Liv's apartment by the time Lizzie and Katie showed up after work with pizza for a late lunch.
El had removed his shirt, the summer heat getting to him, and the pair was in their bathroom putting the last of their every day stuff in boxes. She took a few moments to eye his muscles physique.
He laughed and put a hand on her plump ass that was exaggerated in her leggings, before leaning down to kiss her.
She pouted when she heard the girls come in and he laughed harder, kissing her again. He pulled his shirt back on, but not before she ran her hands over his hard abs, causing him to shudder.
They walked out together holding hands, and Liz and Katie smiled up at them. "Hi guys," El smiled stupidly and they gave him an excited look.
Liv blushed and held their hands up showing her ring.
"Finally!!!"
"Yes!!!!"
They cried, together, ushing to hug both of them. Liv laughed hugging them both tightly as they admired her ring.
"Oh it's beautiful," Kathleen said and Lizzie nodded, "our baby sister has the best taste- clearly takes after me," she said and Katie rolled her eyes laughing.
"The kids are going to be so excited," Katie said, referring to the littles.
"I know… I can't wait to tell them," Liv said smiling and hugging her middle girl.
"So you guys are almost done in here?" Lizzie asked and El nodded.
"Pretty much... one more load to the new place. Movers will be back soon. My apartment is pretty much packed except for mom's stuff…." He said gently and the girls and Dickie looked up taking a deep breath.
"I thought… maybe it'd be nice for the six of us to go over and go through it…" he said referring to his older kids.
They glanced nervous at Liv who nodded, "guys, dad and I already discussed it… I think you need this time together," she said gently and they all took a large breath in.
"That would be nice," Dickie and Lizzie said together, rolling their eyes at one another.
Katie was hesitant and Dickie read her face like a book, speaking next, "Eli's going to want at least you there, Liv."
She sighed. "I'll talk to him… I really think it's important for you guys to have this time alone with just your dad."
"I think we all appreciate that but… just talk to Eli. And we'll go from there…" Katie said cautiously, looking at her brother who gave a nod.
The boys got back from their extra curricular's with Mo at 5:30. The whole apartment had been packed up and moved over. They wanted to wait for the kids to say bye to their home before they turned the keys in.
They came in and all looked around.
"It's so empty," Emma whispered, tearing up. It was the only home she and Noah had known.
El went over and picked her up, hugging her tightly. "You okay, baby?"
She nodded into his chest letting a few tears fall. Noah leaned into Eli, slightly impatiently. "Emmy our new place is so much cooler and we get dad and Eli there," he said causing her to laugh.
"I know but I'm gonna miss this place," she giggled through tears.
El sat her on the counter and Liv waved off her boys, causing them to laugh. She stood in front of her girl and hugged her tightly, letting her be emotional.
When she finally pulled back, she took her hands and smiled small. Emma looked down at them, squeezing her mom's hands before noticing a glint on her left one.
Liv was about to give her a mom-level, "everything will be ok" speech before Emma cut her off by quickly looking up with a grin and more tears. "He asked?!?" She all but yelled and Liv laughed, having forgotten they didn't know.
"Yes, baby he asked," she said and laughed when Emma wrapped her arms around her neck tightly. She was crying again and stuttering into her neck, "I'm just so happy!"
"Woah you asked?" Eli yelled excitedly looking at his dad. He laughed and nodded and the boys rushed to hugged their mom tightly.
El looked at his oldest who was crying. He went over to hug her and she smiled hugging him back. "Congrats daddy…" she whispered into his chest.
They went over and hugged Liv and the kids before Mo stepped back.
"I'm gonna give you guys a minute. I'll meet you down at the car okay?" Liv's SUV was loaded and only had room for her and El, so Mo was going to take the kids to the new place.
The kids nodded and waved goodbye. El helped Emma off the counter and the five sat criss cross on the floor in a small circle.
"Everyone's okay, right?" He asked them and they nodded.
"Just sad cause we became a family here, you know?" Emma said, leaning into her daddy.
"We're never not gonna be a family," Eli said to her and Noah nodded in agreement.
Emma look a breath and nodded, and the group was silent for a bit.
"Thank you for letting us into this family," Eli said, whispering so that his tears wouldn't spill.
Noah shuffled to hug him tightly and Emma got up to hug him, too. El scooted to wrap an arm around Liv and they watched their kids.
They let them be for a few before they stood. "Okay guys. Go ahead and and go down to Mo, tell her we'll meet you guys at the house."
They nodded and hugged them goodbye, heading out.
El shut the door behind them and he felt his new fiancé's small hands on his back. They fisted his shirt and he slowly turned in her embrace, backing her against the wall.
"Thank you," he whispered against her lips, before kissing her slowly.
She returned the kiss and her hands found his waistband, "thank you for coming home to me," she whispered as she pushed his shorts and his underwear down.
Allowing him to work on getting her out of her tight leggings, she continued to mesh their lips together in a slow and steady dance, only breaking the connection to giggle and then moan as he lifted her up and slipped into her.
He turned his attention back to her lips and bounced her slowly. She used his shoulders as leverage to speed her movements, moaning into his mouth as his pelvis hit her clit perfectly.
"I love you," she whimpered into his mouth.
"I love you," he grunted back to her, breathlessly.
He could tell by the pitch of her moans that she wasn't going to last much longer, which was good cause he wasn't either.
They pulled their lips from one another, making eye contact as they came together, the intensity of both of their orgasms surprising both themselves and one another.
She fell against the crook of his neck, breathing deeply and letting out a soft sob.
Expertly pulling out of her, El wrapped his arms tightly around her, letting a few of his tears fall, too.
"Sorry," she chuckled after a few moments, "just… I'm so happy and just feeling emotional," she whispered.
He pulled back slightly and cupped her cheeks. "Why baby? The move?"
Her hands went up to cover his and she nodded. "The move. Our new grand-baby. Our engagement. Our kids."
He nodded, understanding but knowing there was more. Letting the rough pads of his thumbs graze her cheeks, he silently encouraged her to continue.
"The… the last time," she whimpered, "the last time we had sex intimately like that next to my door you left me…" she said as new tears fell.
He shook his head, pressing her body impossibly close to her. "I'm never going anywhere, again. You'll have to kill me to get rid of me, and even then… I'll haunt you." He said softly, causing her to laugh through her tears.
"I know… it just brings back so many emotions… all of this is," she whispered.
"There's something else… I've seen it on your face for the last few weeks. Tell me," he said lovingly.
She sniffled and laid her head against his chest. "I started spotting for the first t-time in almost a year about a month a-ago, but I hadn't um ovulated, you know," she said into his chest and she felt him tighten his grip around her.
"So stupid… the timeline matched up and I let myself get my hopes up and took a test at work… obviously I'm not pregnant I'm old but I was so happy for a split second at the possibility of another baby with you…" she said through tears and his heart broke.
He gently lifted her chin and she spoke again. "I didn't tell you cause I didn't want you to be sad or think I was a failure or something," she muttered, answering his silent question.
Cutting her off with a kiss, he ran his hand from her cheek to tangle in her hair.
"Well first… you're not a failure and you can and should tell me everything… second, you know there's so many options," he whispered and she nodded for him to continue, "IVF, surrogacy, adoption… Liv if this is something you want I'm all in… I've always been all in with you baby…"
She nodded but then shook her head. "We have three kids at home who need us to focus on them," she murmured and he shook his head looking down at her. "What's one more?" He teased, causing her to laugh.
"Come on," she said, clearing her throat and clearly wanting to table the conversation, "let's go home."
They pulled up their pants and he smiled taking her hand as they scanned the empty apartment one last time.
"Let's go home," he repeated, squeezing her hand as they walked out the door.
