A/N: Apologies for the cliffhanger
Fin groaned, blindly reaching for his phone as it blared his Captain's ring tone, "Bad Boys."
"Cap," he mumbled.
"Fin. Sam is in labor. Ambulance is on its way, I need you to call Elliot and when he's close come to the hospital to get the littles? Or at least call a kid I don't kn-" she was cut off by Sam's scream of pain as a contraction ripped through her.
Fin and Phoebe were already up and getting dressed. "We're on it, go take care of her," he said.
She rushed out a "thanks" and hung up, turning her attention back to Sam. "You're okay, you're okay… come on," she said, trying to help her stand.
"Eli, I need Eli," she sobbed, screaming again as the paramedics rushed in in record time.
"Captain!" They called, running in to find her with a gurney.
"Liv no no no no," Sam stopped, holding her hand tightly.
"I'm here baby I'm here… I'm here it's okay, I'll be right with you I promise," she nodded as the team loaded her onto the stretcher and hooked her up to oxygen.
Liv grabbed her bag, keys, and their phones and rushed off behind her.
Elliot grumbled, cursing to himself as he reached for his phone.
"Told them I was out of town," he muttered to himself as Teddy stirred lightly on his chest.
"Stabler," he barked in a whisper, patting his son's back gently to sooth him as Emma moved beside him, waking up a bit.
"El it's me. Sam's in labor in the house, they're taking her by ambulance."
"Shit. Shit," he said, sitting up quickly and startling Ted awake. "Okay. Fuck okay," he nodded.
The light between their beds turned on and his head whipped to his older son whose eyes were wide and knowing.
"Pheb and I are running to your house to get some stuff for Liv and Sam, and then we're meeting Katie and Beau at the hospital. We'll take the little kids home when you get there."
"Got it. Okay I'll call from the road keep me updated."
"Got it man."
El was up, searching for his sweatshirt while Eli shoved things in bags, clearly panicked.
Moving to his son, he grabbed him by the arms and looked at him. "Moms got her. It's okay. Don't panic. We're gonna get there as fast as we can."
He nodded quickly, eyes welling up before continuing to get everyone's stuff together. Emma woke up when Teddy rolled into her crying softly.
"Guys what's going on?" She asked, picking him up to sooth him.
"Sam is in labor, we need to go now."
"Oh damn," she said, rubbing her eyes quickly and getting up to help.
"Language," they both shot at her, and her eyes went wide and then rolled. "Okay dads," she muttered, jumping into action.
She got Teddy in his carrier and made a few bottles for him while they all packed up and loaded up bags.
Eli picked up a dead-to-the-world Noah while El grabbed the bags and did a final sweep.
They were checked out and on the road within fifteen minutes, and Emma rubbed Eli's shoulder gently from the back seat, trying to calm him down.
Sam's cries filled the confined space.
Liv sat at the back of the ambulance, holding her hands from behind her and speaking encouragingly to her while the medics worked to stop bleeding and encourage her to push.
"I'm here… I'm here. You're doing great…"
"Sam honey you gotta push," the paramedic said. "We've got one baby coming, come on, on the next contraction you gotta push okay?"
"I can't have my baby in an ambulance," she sobbed.
Liv watched in masked horror as the paramedics quickly worked to stop the blood that was rushing out of her.
"Sam we need you to push okay. We need you to push right now," they instructed.
"You can… you can sweetie," she said over Sam's scream as another contraction rocked her tiny body.
"Push baby!" Liv said, squeezing her hands as she bore dow.
"FUUUUUCK," she yelled, sobbing and panting. "Why are their heads so big," she sobbed when her contraction passed, through deep breaths and tears.
"I don't know… I don't know but you're doing so well baby, push… you gotta push okay? You got this okay?"
"You're doing great! Couple more big pushes!" The paramedics called.
"I can't I can't… I can't do it!"
"You can! You can do this sweetie. Stay focused. Stay focused on what your little babies are gonna look like."
"I'm a bad mom already I didn't even make it to the hospital," she sobbed. "Eli, I need Eli, I need my mom," she said pathetically, shaking her head.
Her emotions were wild and the pain and situation she was in was bringing every horrible thought to the surface.
"Your Eli was born in an ambulance and he's turned out fine. Okay? You got this. I'm here and they're gonna be okay. Push honey, push," she said, brushing her hair back. "Focus, breath in and out okay you can do it!"
She bore down again on the next contraction, screaming through it while the medics shouted that the first twin was crowning.
"Oh god it hurts," she sobbed. "It hurts so bad I need Eli I need my Eli," she said, sobbing and shaking her head.
"I know… I know but your little Eli is coming soon… push baby girl, push," she encouraged, and Sam did.
"Fuuuuuck I'm gonna kill him!!!!!!" She screamed.
"One more! Baby one is almost here!"
"Oh gooood Liv I don't… Fuck Liv fuck," she cried, pushing again out of instinct.
Liv watched as her grandson entered the world in the same fashion as his daddy, crying and arms flailing as his little body hit the cold ambulance air.
"Boy," they called, and Sam breathed out a happy and semi relieved chuckled, collapsing back.
They quickly wrapped the little one up, clamped the cord, and cut it.
"Hemorrhaging," the one between her legs called, and the other quickly passed the new born to his grandmother.
"Good job… oh Sam he's beautiful look," she said, holding him up.
She looked back and gave a weak smile before muttering "Elliot" and passing out.
The little one cried softly and Liv sat back letting them take over and trying to morph into Captain mode from mom mode.
"Sh sh… I gotcha Elliot Jospeh… Cap's got ya, you're okay. You're okay," she cooed. "You're okay EJ… mama is gonna be okay and so is your sister… and daddy will be here soon," she rocked him gently from side to side. "Daddy will be here soon," she repeated, trying to keep talking mostly to calm herself down. "Papa too... and Uncle Noah and Auntie Emma and Teddy Bear... it's gonna be okay sweet boy."
The ambulance slowed to a stop and the back doors ripped open. Sam was rushed up for an emergency c-section to bring baby girl into the world and further surgery to stop the bleeding.
Liv had a moment of silence to look down at her new grandson before nurses and a doctor flooded in to take EJ to be checked.
He'd calmed down and nuzzled into the blanket and against his Cap, so much like his daddy had done when they'd arrived at the hospital and Kathy was whisked away.
She time traveled then, staring at the little boy who looked just like his daddy and was born in almost the same fashion.
"Oh my Elliots," she whispered, tearing up and taking a mental image of every one of his features and comparing them to her son's at that same moment, almost 18 years ago.
"Cap we gotta take him for follow up," a nurse she knew well instructed.
Nodding quickly, she passed him off and climbed down, rushing off after her while the doctor listened to his heart beat and did another suction on his nose.
"Name?" The doctor asked looking up at her.
"Elliot Joseph Stabler," she said, looking to the nurse who gave a small and knowing smile.
"The third," Liv added.
Elliot and Fin, in true Elliot and Fin fashion, had managed to get a police escort for the family back to Manhattan.
They were an hour out, and Eli, who was anxiously waiting for any news, jumped when his phone rang, lighting up with his moms face.
"Mom," he said frantically, realizing after a moment that it was a FaceTime, and moving his phone in front of him.
He gasped, his eyes welling up at the sight before him.
Resting in a hospital cradle, all swaddled up, were his twins.
"Say hi to daddy, guys," she whispered.
EJ moved a little right when the words "daddy" hit his ears, and Eli burst into silent tears.
"Oh my god," he finally spoke. "Oh my god…"
"They're healthy and perfect. Sam is fine- she had to have a c section and surgery to stop some bleeding. They're finishing up and she should be down in recovery soon okay? She's okay."
"C-C-section? Both of them?"
Liv laughed a little. "No baby… just Jo…" she bit her lip and then smiled big.
"EJ was born in the back of the ambulance and passed immediately to his Cap."
Both Elliot's let out audible gasps and El finally let some tears fall.
"Knew you'd be a sucker for my boy," Eli teased softly once he finally got his emotions under control.
"Always. Drive safe okay? We'll be here."
"Love you momma… thank you so much," he said, shaking his head in awe of her strength and love and compassion.
"No need to thank me. I get first baby snuggles," she teased back. "I love you baby. Congratulations."
They hung up and Eli sunk back in his seat, breathing a sigh of relief and staring intently at the photos she'd sent.
In the back, Noah finally stirred and sat up slowly, yawning and looking around, throughly confused.
"What? Where are we?" He asked, looking to his little brother and then big sister.
"Wait… what did I miss?"
"Oh dear God," Emma said as the Elliots burst into silent laughter.
